Alyssa Potter Hufflepuff House Username: FireboltAvis88 Member Number: 170888 House: Hufflepuff Character Name: Alyssa Potter Year: Second Year Journal: Taking Care of Queenie Entry 1: 01/18/2076 I checked on Queenie, my egg today. I call it Queenie, even though I don't even think it has a gender, because it's all shiny and has swirly decorations. The Professor told us that we had to practice the charms we learnt in class in order to take care of Queenie. The charms were Argentus Frigidus which makes it cold or freezing; Argentum Calidus which makes it hot or warm; Argentum Siccus which makes it wet. Note to self: Always remember to carry a small towel or rag. This is one messy spell; Argentum Humidus which fortunately dries it up and Excolo, which makes the egg all shiny and brand new again. I had checked Queenie a couple of times in the past, and didn’t notice any change until today. Qeenie was very cold to the touch. I believe that it was because of the sudden drop in temperature in the room because it had snowed really bad last night. Even though she had been wrapped up in my woolen sock and was inside my bag, the cold air must have seeped through. I had to use the Argentum Calidus spell to warm it back up. I will need to keep a closer eye on my metal egg from now on. In the Beginning Entry 2: 02/05/2076 Something unusual happened while I was out at the lake today. While I was there, I decided to check on Queenie. Even though it was still frosty outside, it wasn’t as cold as it had been the last few weeks. I still wanted to make sure that the temperature of the egg was at least somewhere close to room temperature. What was strange was that when I had taken the egg out of my bag, unwrapped it from my woolen sock, and was holding it in my hand, it suddenly ‘jumped’ out and started rolling down the slope and into the lake. I tried to wade in but the water was too cold, so I decided to use the Accio spell which worked. Once it flew out of the lake and landed in my hand, I quickly performed that Argentum Siccus spell to dry it up and then the Argentum Calidus spell to warm it back up. I checked the surface to see whether there were any dents, but thankfully there were none. I cleaned off most of the dirt of the egg and then used the Excolo spell to polish it and bring back the luster to its color and swirly decorations. Once Queenie was all warm, dry and polished again, I quickly wrapped the egg back into the woolen sock, tucked it safely in my bag and returned to the castle. I am still trying to figure out how the egg fell out of my hand. I am very sure that I was holding it firmly. If I didn’t know any better, I could have sworn that it had actually jumped out of my hand, but that is not possible, or is it? Anyway, I will be closely keeping an ever closer eye on it from now on. I’m ending my entry for today. A roll in the lake Entry 3: 02/20/2076 I had another strange experience today in the House Common room. After that weird experience at the lake, I decided to check on Queenie in a ‘safe’ and warm environment. After that ‘dunking’ in the lake, I was hoping that its dip in the freezing water didn’t affect it in anyway. Everything looked normal when I took the egg out, and that’s when normal ended. This time I am sure that the egg bounced out of my hand. It bounced and then rolled away from me, all over the common room, with me chasing after it and then returned to hide under the very same couch that I had been sitting on. Even stranger yet, when I reached in to grab it, it moved away from my fingers like it was dodging me. I do believe that this egg has some form of intelligence. Anyway, I managed to catch it and used the Excolo spell to polish it up. It is now wrapped in my woolen sock and tucked safely in my bag. Breakfast now. End of Entry The Hufflepuff Common Room Runaway Entry 4: 03/02/2076 I now truly believe that this egg in my possession has some form of intelligence. For all I know that could be likely something growing inside it. But for now, I still don’t know what it is. I’m not sure whether it is part of the charm spell that the Professor had cast on it, but it definitely can move, and it seems to have a sense of humor. I was checking on Queenie while I was in the Common Room before going to bed. It tricked me into thinking that it was not going to jump up out of my hand. But I was wrong. It was actually playing ‘possum’ and waited for me to get closer to it, relax my hand grip, and then it ‘bounced’ up, hit me on the nose before falling out of my hand and rolling away to hide. This time unfortunately it decided to hide in the fireplace which still had burning embers. I was able to retrieve it using the Accio spell. I had to act fast to cool it down. I first used the Argentum Humidus spell to cool it down slowly by getting it wet, and then I used the Argentum Siccus spell to dry it. Then I used the Argentum Frigidus spell to lower its temperature back to room temperature. Lastly, I used the Excolo spell to remove the burn scorch marks. I’m going to bed now. End of entry. The Hufflepuff Common Room Nightly Encounter Entry 5: 03/17/2076 I checked on Queenie today, while I was having breakfast in the Great Hall. After its strange behavior the last few times I checked it, to my surprise, nothing happened today. Maybe Queenie had ‘heard’ my request to behave herself and decided to give me a break today. For that I am thankful. I would have been embarrassed if I had to chase my egg all over the Great Hall in front of the other students. I used the Excolo spell to polish up its metallic shell just to make sure that the shell wouldn't start to rust or tarnish. I need to finish breakfast now or I will be late for class. End of Entry. Breakfast at Hufflepuff's Entry 6: 03/31/2076 Today I went to look for someone in the gazebo to teach her how to dance the chicken dance. Don’t ask. It was part of the Muggle Studies Homework Assignment Professor Cerulean had assigned us to do. Anyway, while I was there, Queenie decided that it wanted out of my bag. I don’t know how she did it, but when I went to look for her, she was no longer in my bag. After much searching I found her in the bushes, wet, shivering and running a high temperature. I quickly dried her up by casting the Argentum Siccus spell and then I used the Argentum Fridigus spell to bring down her temperature. After two attempts, her temperature was back down to normal room temperature. After manually removing whatever dirt I could from her shell, I used the Excolo charm to prevent her outer covering from rusting and tarnishing. I still don’t know what is inside this egg, but whatever it is, it doesn’t like being neglected for too long. I will have to make sure that I keep a closer eye on it and ensure that everything is secured before I leave it alone for the night. The Great Gazebo Escape Entry#7: 04/12/2076 Today, I went to visit Shannia, my Snowy Owl in the Owlery. While I was there I decided to show Queenie to her. Bad mistake!! I accidentally dropped the egg and it dropped onto floor. It rolled around and got covered in owl droppings. Thankfully when I examined it, the fall had not cracked its shell. But I still had to clean it first with the wetting spell, Argentum Humidus, to wash off the owl droppings. Then I dried it by using the Argentum Siccus spell. Finally because it had been exposed to water for at least 2 minutes, I used the Excolo spell to polish it up to prevent it from rusting. I will need to be more careful when handling my egg. This time I was lucky. End of Entry. An Owlish Encounter Entry#8: 04/26/2076 Today Queenie had the worst experience ever. I was visiting the Girl’s bathroom and was in the toilet. While I was in there doing my ‘business’, I decided to pull out a magazine to read. Big mistake, I accidentally snagged the egg’s sock while pulling out a magazine. I leaned forward to catch the sock before it landed on the ground but in the process, the egg flew out and landed in the toilet bowl behind me. I used the Accio Spell to get it out. Thank goodness I was only doing Number One!!. Anyway, I used the Argentum Humidus spell to quickly wash it and then the Argentum Siccus spell to dry it up. Once it was both clean and dry, I used the Excolo spell to make sure that its encounter with the water in the toilet bowl wouldn't tarnish its shell. I placed the egg back into the sock, tucked it into my bag, remembered to wash my hands thoroughly before leaving the girl’s bathroom. Journal entry end. A Nightmare in The Girl's Bathroom Entry#9: 05/03/2076 It has been a week since I last checked on Queenie. While I was in the Library Reading Lounge, I decided to check on it. I’m glad to report that despite my neglect, Queenie looked and felt fine. The egg was warm to the touch but still remained within room temperature range. I just used the Excolo spell to polish it up because it was starting to lose its shine. Queenie is now looking all nice and shiny again. I need to get back to my reading. End of Entry. All Quiet in the Library Reading Lounge Entry#10: 05/10/2011 Here I am back in the Girl’s Dorm room. Almost 5 months ago, I started this journal. Today will be my last entry in this journal. I will soon be told whether Queenie will hatch or not. I guess it just depends on how well I have taken care of it. I took out Queenie out of her woolen sock protection for the last time. Her temperature was normal and even though she was clean of grime, and rust, and was shining like it was brand new, I cast the Excolo spell one more time to polish it and make it shine. I wonder what will become of Queenie. Will it hatch into a creature or will something like a metal ball just pop out of it? I do hope that it’s a creature like a baby owl or even better yet, a baby Phoenix. That would be so cool, because Phoenix’s are very rare now and it would be nice to add another one to the species. I guess I will have to wait and see. I guess patience isn’t one of my known qualities. I’m still waiting to hear from the Professor. The Final Countdown |
William Montcenaggio AKA Starr/Gryffindor Username: Jason Potter Weasley Member Number: 81401 House: Gryffindor Character Name: William Montcenaggio, AKA Starr Year: Second Journal: Tending to Mischievous Entry 1: 02/17/2076 I noticed that my egg enjoys playing tricks on me, like making a skipping motion as it is trying to get away. For this reason, I have chosen to name my egg Mischievous. This is a name that could work for either a boy or a girl. I also noticed that Mischievous has a tendency to get dirty easily, but I am working very hard at keeping him or her as clean as possible! I used Excolo to make sure that Mischievous is the cleanest and most immaculate condition that could be achieved, at least for the time being. Whomping Willow Entry 2: 02/19/2076 I had come back to the Gryffindor Boy's Dorm tonight after being outside by the Lake and found that my egg, Mischievous was colder than usual. I decided that I should use the Argentum Calidus spell to warm things up and it worked fine. Mischievous tried to skip away from me again, but I was able to calm the egg down and finally got it to sleep after I told it it was going to get in trouble for roaming the halls! Gryffindor Boys' Dormitories Entry 3: 02/20/2076 I had a bit of an unexpected adventure with Mischievous today. I had gone down to the small waterfall to enjoy the beautiful weather and decided to play a little toss game with mischief. I had gone closer to the water than I thought, and Mischievous slipped out of my hand and got a little bit wet. I was able to dry the egg again through use of the Argentum Siccus I had learned in class. Mischievous didn't seem to have much trust in me when I tried to pick it up, though, and tried to skip away from me as it has done before. After I promised I would be more careful, I was able to pick Mischievous up and return the egg safely to my pocket. After that, I headed back to the Common Room. That had been enough excitement for one evening! The Small Waterfall with a Swimming Pond Entry 4: 02/21/2076 I should have realized that breakfast time in the Great Hall would be a dangerous place for an egg! I went to the Gryffindor House Table with my egg Mischievous in my pocket today and it tried to get away from me, actually skipping across the table and onto the floor. I realized that Mischievous was upset because of all the students who were eating eggs there, and it took me a while to get the egg back. When I finally caught up with Mischievous, the egg was really dry and I was afraid that it was going to crack. I used the Argentum Humidus spell and was pleased to see that the cracks were gone and that Mischievous seemed as good as new. I'll be more careful of taking that egg with me when I go to breakfast next time! Gryffindor House Table Entry 5: 02/22/2076 I wandered down to the Lake to take a swim today, but discovered that the water was too cold. I decided to lay down in the grass for a little while and I guess I laid out there too long. I woke up and discovered that it had become really warm, warm enough for me to swim. I reached into my pocket, forgetting that I had my egg Mischievous in there the whole time. Mischievous was really warm, almost hot, and I knew I had to cool the egg off right away. I was going to dip Mischievous into the lake but I realized that that would probably produce tarnish. Then I remembered the Argentum Frigidus spell was good for cooling, and I used that and Mischievous' temperature went back to what it usually is. Mischievous tried to skip away from me again, and I figured that that was because the egg really likes being outside the same way I do. The Lake Entry 6: 02/23/2076 I found myself by the water as usual, this time the small waterfall with a swimming pool. Another nice day, and I thought I would take a dip in the pool. I took Mischievous out of my pocket and put the egg on the ground, not realizing that the ground was saturated with dew and moisture. The next thing I knew Mischievous was really damp, so damp that I feared it would mildew. I reached for the egg, but it skipped away as it so often does. I used Wingardium Leviosa to levitate the egg and bring it back to me, then Argentum Siccus to get Mischievous back to its normal state, well, normal for a metal egg, that is. It's hard to believe that a tiny egg could be so challenging to care for, but this is an interesting experiment! The Small Waterfall with a Swimming Pond Entry 7 - 02/24/2076 Today was an easy day with Mischievous for a change, nothing really exciting was going on. I took a walk down to the Pathways and saw that Mischievous looked a bit dusty, so I took my wand out and polished the egg using the Excolo spell which I had learned in Charms class. I focused my attention on the dusty area and soon saw that the egg was once again bright and shiny, just like it was when I first received it! The Pathways Entry 8 - 02/25/2076 I took Mischievous out of my pocket today and was really surprised to see how cold the egg's temperature was. It was almost freezing it was so cold, in fact. I performed the warming spell Argentum Calidus on the egg, but its temperature still wasn't as high as it was supposed to be. I repeated the spell one more time and saw that Mischievous' temperature had finally come back to an acceptable level. Not wanting to take any more chances, I slipped the egg back into the pocket of my robe and headed back to the castle. The Front Gate Entry 9 - 02/26/2076 I went into the Room of Requirement to talk to some of my friends, but there were a lot of people in there and the temperature was really hot. I decided to check and see how Mischievous was doing because I was concerned the temperature was too hot in the room and it might have affected the temperature of the egg. When I took Mischievous out of pocket, I found that it was so hot that I could barely touch it, and that it was even making my hand sweat to touch it. I performed the Argentum Frigidus charm on the egg as I had been taught and left the room, vowing to not return there as long as Mischievous was still in my care. There will be plenty of time for socializing in there later! Room of Requirement Entry 10 - 02/29/2076 I checked to see how my egg Mischievous was doing while I was walking by the statues and noticed that it was kind of warm. I put the egg down for only a moment and it tried to skip towards the statues. It seemed as though it wanted to head into the portable swamp, so I figured that it was drying to moisten itself. Since the egg had gone so fast I needed to use Accio to bring it back, then I was able to perform Argetum Humidus in order to stop the dryness ad prevent cracking from occurring. I also polished Mischievouss using Excolo, as I wanted it to look really nice. The egg may be ready to hatch soon, and I want to make sure that everything goes right in any event. The Statues |

Trying to figure out what might be in it and what to name it. Sparkles is the best name I came up with. Sparkles was cold and needed warmed as well as cleaned. In Common Room: http://www.snitchseeker.com/hufflepu...l#post10717973 Journal 2: Playing with Sparkles as usual At the Gazebo I took Sparkles out and played with it as I like to. Sparkles is moving a little and it makes me wonder what is in the egg. I like to take care of things so this has brought a smile to my face watching the egg here at school. At the Gazebo: http://www.snitchseeker.com/hogwarts...l#post10717985 Journal 3: Sparkles move Sparkles really moved today and took me by surprise. Sparkles went right into my food and got all sticky. I had to cleaning Sparkles up and then had to place it in my bag where Sparkles would not get lost. At Hufflepuff table: http://www.snitchseeker.com/the-grea...l#post10719433 Journal 4: Sparkles wants out of my bag. Sitting reading today near the stained glass windows Sparkles came rolling out of my bag. It looked as if Sparkles was shivering so I made Sparkles warm. After getting Sparkles warm I asked if it wanted to listen to me read. Sparkles rolled into my lap. This really makes me wonder what is in this egg and can whatever hear and understand me or was this just a random act with no meaning. At the stained glass windows:http://www.snitchseeker.com/hogwarts...l#post10722406 Journal 5: Sparkles runs away. Today while I was at the student gardens Sparkles slipped out of my bag and took off through the gardens. By the time I caught up to the egg Sparkles was dirty and warm so I had to use a charm to cool Sparkles off and I used the damp charm to clean the dirt off. Once sparkles was clean and I am in a better place I will need to use the polishing charm to make sure Sparkles is completely clean. Student Gardens: http://www.snitchseeker.com/herbolog...l#post10724247 Journal 6: Sparkles wants to go to the fireplace. Today while I was trying to get warm by the fireplace Sparkles rolled out of my bag and started heading towards the fireplace. I grabbed Sparkles before the egg made it to the fire and when I touched Sparkles the egg felt cold so I made Sparkles comfortable. I enjoy spending time with the egg I can't wait until the egg hatches to find out whats inside. The common room: http://www.snitchseeker.com/hufflepu...9/index27.html Journal 7: Sparkles is dirty Today I went outside for some fresh air. I have been having trouble with Sparkles wanting to roll away every change it gets. So I took Sparkles out before placing my bag on the ground. I was trying to figure out what was inside when I tapped on the egg and to my surprise the egg tapped back. Now I don't know if this was a random thing or if the egg tapped because I did. I will have to watch this in the future. I also noticed Sparkles was becoming tarnished so I polished the egg and placed it back in my pocket to stay warm. Courtyard: http://www.snitchseeker.com/hogwarts...l#post10732362 Journal 8: Sparkles has an accident Today while in the common room I took Sparkles out of my bag. I am still trying to figure out what could possibly be in the egg. While trying to figure it out Sparkles rolled out of my hands and took off across the common room. As I was trying to catch Sparkles the egg knocked over water and got all wet so I used a spell to dry the egg off. Common Room: http://www.snitchseeker.com/hufflepu...l#post10734899 Journal 9: Where did Sparkles Go Thought I lost Sparkles today. Silly egg got out of my bag when I put my bag on the floor. I search the common room until I found Sparkles in a corner. Sparkles kept shaking I thought maybe it was a sign that he/she might hatch soon. It made me really start wondering what is in the egg and will I get to take care of it or keep it as a pet after it hatches. I sure hope so. I sat and watched Sparkles for awhile and then decided to put the egg back in my bag where he/she would be safe. Common Room; http://www.snitchseeker.com/hufflepu...l#post10737534 Journal 10: Is Sparkles going to hatch? Today I was walking around the castle when I felt Sparkles moving in my bag. When I took the egg out Sparkles was shaking and moving. I was thinking about going to see the professor to make sure nothing was wrong when I decided to make Sparkles cooler, because the egg felt hot. Once cooled the egg still was shaking I am wondering if this means that Sparkles will be hatching soon. The Courtyard: http://www.snitchseeker.com/hogwarts...l#post10745081 |

Entry 1: 01/18/76 I let Aimee sleep for a short time until it nearly fell off the bedside table. Good thing I got it. So I brought her to the Gazebo but then she started to feel a bit cold so I used "Argentum Calidus" on her and then I polished her with "Excolo". Nothing much happened today, though. But my egg's doing fine. Aimee is my metal egg. She does like the heat always, which explains why she always shivers. She likes to get dirty too. Gazebo ---------------------- Entry 2: 01/19/76 Aimee and I went around the school today. I brought her to some classes so there won't be any accident. She shivered in the Common Room because the January air was definitely cold. I used "Argentum Calidus" again. Aimee seemed to have a bit of a mood change today. I don't know why but maybe she's turning to a big girl now! Slytherin Common Room |

Entry1; January 18th, 2076 Hold up, my egg is wet?! Since the charms lesson, I've been keeping my egg up in my dormitary. In my trunk, I tucked it into a pair of socks so it wouldn't get lost. Checking on it everyday, I saw no changes until the assignment was posted on the notice board. This is when my little egg began making some changes. Not irritating at all.. I've got to say, I'm not the biggest fan of my egg. It's almost like a small child. His attitude is something else... Nothing much happened apart from the horrid thing growling at me! Yes, you read correctly.. the egg growled at me because I wasn't fast enough. Somehow, he got all damp so I had to use Argentum 'Siccus' to dry him off. Twirl and point blah blah blah.. Username: littledhampir Member number: 102104 House: Hufflepuff Character name: Isobel VonHue Year: Fifth Lovely Luna and I Entry 1: 12/17/2075 I thought of the perfect name for my egg today; Roza. I read it in a book once. It means Rose, and though that has nothing to do with eggs, I think it's pretty, don't you? Anyway, I should probably get to talking about Roza. There wasn't anything wrong with her in particular but she looked....sad. I used Argentum Humidus to make her damp, then Argentum Siccus to dry her. That was the best bath I could think of. After those were completed I used Excolo to polish her. All in all, I think it went well. Link: Hufflepuff Girls's Dormitory Entry 2: 2/10/76 Today I went outside to hug Slytherins. When I came in I tried to warm Roza up with my hands, but it was not very effective. She was trembling, like she was shivering. Was she shivering? Can eggs shiver? No, they cannot. Well, normal eggs can't, anyway. Roza is not a normal egg, that has been evident from the beginning. What is going to hatch out of her when the time comes? Anyway...I thought hard and used Argentum Callidus to warm her up, and it worked. I was proud of myself. Link: Lost and Found Entry 3: 2/13/76 Today I danced with an egg. I went to the Room of Requirement and when I paced back and forth in front of it, I wanted it to show me a room what would make Roza happy. The room was filled with musical instruments. I didn't know how to play any of them, but there was a demo button on the piano and when I pressed it, it played music. I danced with Roza. I think she liked it. If it was possible, I would say she was smiling, and she looked brighter. Link: Room of Requirement Entry 4: 3/10/76 I went swimming today. Okay, no I didn't. I went down to the Lake and Roza went swimming. I did not mean to drop her, and I have no idea how she slipped out of my hands. I panicked, but thankfully I caught her and dried her off. She had not been cold for some reason. Maybe she had been hot and the water cooled her off. I don't know, but I am just glad she is safe. Link: Lake Entry 5: 3/13/76 Roza was looking dull, or duller than usual at least. I used Excolo to make her shiny, and now she is pretty again. Not that she is every not pretty of course, don't you dare insult my Roza. I made sure that the two of us look pretty, because you never know when you will need to look pretty. I should find Roza a boyfriend. Link: Mirror Entry 6: 3/24/76 Apparently Roza has sone abilities that I had never known about before. Today I was eating in the Great Hall and I noticed that it was unnaturally hot. A few moments later there was this high pitched screeching sound coming from beside me, and Roza was making it. I was panicked at first, so my spell would not work, but I used Silencio to make her be quiet. I hope that was okay and it will not hurt her. Anyhow, I concentrated and cast Argentum Frigidus. I really hope she does not do it again; it nearly scared the pee out of me. Link: Hufflepuff House Table Entry 7: 3/30/76 Today I brought Roza outside with me as I went down to the grounds to write. I sat against a large rock near the Whomping Willow and as I was looking for something to keep Roza warm my kitten, Star, curled herself around the egg. I thought it was nice. I hope they will get along after Roza hatches. I must not think about that though, because it will just make me wonder what is inside the egg, and that will drive me crazy. Link: The Whomping Willow Entry 8: 4/3/76 I think Roza likes the outside. That is one of my theories anyway. We were outside for a while, and a little bit after we came inside she was really warm, like she was not used to the warm temperature inside and she liked it better outside. I was tortured again by the wonder of what is inside that egg. I really hope we get to find out soon. Oh, and in case you were wondering I used Argentum Frigidus to cool her off, and she was better for the rest of today. Link: Barnabus the Barmy Entry 9: 4/15/76 Roza likes the cold. I think that after she hatches her favorite summer will be winter. That is just a guess though, because it might just be the egg, and not whatever is inside the egg. Anyway, this morning as I was doing my homework I noticed that she was really hot, so I cooled her down. Link: Hufflepuff Common Room Entry 10: 6/1/76 Today, well tonight actually, I went up to the Observatory and Roza and I were stargazing. She was looking a little dull so I polished her and then I could see the sky reflected in her. It was pretty cool. Well, this is my last entry, and now I actually get to find out what is inside her. I hope I get to keep her, because I would be terribly sad if I had to let my Roza go. Link: Observatory |
Erin Heyman-Ravenclaw Username: WitchLight27 Member number:172155 House: Ravenclaw Character name: Erin Cornelia Heyman Year: First Erin's Journey with Louisa, the Egg Entry 1: 01/18/2076 Louisa, the egg. I adapted the name of my former cat that was in the possession of Enya now. I know, I shouldn't have written that. Today, Louisa and I went out at the lake. I wanted Louisa to get some fresh air. Maybe, she'll get more healthy and healthier. Before starting to knit her a dress, I sketch Louisa's face in her shell. Eyes first then lips curled for a smile. I knitted a dress for her. Well, it was round like her. It's more difficult to make her clothes than my former cat, Louisa. As I was dressing her, she was sort of giggling softly. She started to roll around and. Louisa loved the texture of the cloth I used or maybe, she loved the warmth she felt from it. I used pink fabrics. Maybe, that's her favorite color. Link: The Lake Entry 2: 01/28/2076 Louisa was in my bag today and something really unusual happened. She was weighing like 2 pounds earlier and now, she was as light as a balloon. I panicked really hard. Other students’ eggs become heavy and all but Louisa, my egg was lighter than ever before. When I went out heading at the Giant Treehouse, I put her in my pocket. Then, I notice something floating while I was climbing the tree. Before she can even get farther, I got hold of her. I grip the egg almost cracking but thankfully, the surface wasn’t damaged. When I reached the top of the treehouse, I used the spell Argentum Humidus twirling and point my wand on her to make her damp. And then I used Excolo to refine the texture of her shell. I caressed her softly with my palm. I actually use special lotion on my hands to make it softer so that Louisa will not get hurt. I think she was sick today. SPOILER!!: Erin's sketch Link: The Giant Treehouse Entry 3: 02/07/2076 Nothing much happened today apart from Louisa getting nearly cracked because of her silly bouncing, early in the morning. Before I could even brush my teeth, I saw Louisa jumping crazily over my pillows. I panicked a lot. I nearly woken up my room mates at the dormitories, maybe I just did. What if my Louisa get hatch earlier. She would definitely die. That would be sad. I wouldn't allow it. I love Louisa. From now on, I'll tuck her in my arms when I sleep. She felt hard these days and there was a small probability of her getting hatch on my hug. I discovered that she was actually exercising earlier, that's why she was bouncing, to make herself warm. She felt cold from the outside. Yesterday, she was sick hot and all, but earlier today, she felt like icy cold. I used the spell Argentum Calidus to make her warm. Last time, she had a hot fever and now, she's got cold fever? Eggs were really unstable. From now on, I would protect Louisa. Link: The Ravenclaw Girl's Dormitories Entry 4: 03/9/2076 Louisa was really the naughty type. She loved playing so much and she had no idea how dirty she would be by playing at my food. And she was wasting it as well. I just hoped, the elves wouldn't feel angry towards our wasting of the food they served. Hunger filled my stomach while I was at the dormitories so I headed down to the Great Hall to grab dome food. Of course, of any of my endeavors, Louisa, my egg would always be a part of it. As we are getting near the food, Louisa sort of made a giggling movement from under my palms. She really loved the smell of her most favorite food in the whole world even if she couldn't really eat it herself. Before I could even touch my spoon and fork, she already jumped to the pudding and bounced energetically. I kind of envy her for feeling her happiest in such simple things. After finishing my food, I attended to her cleanliness. I pointed at my egg and used the Argentum Humidus to make her clean. I used Argentum Siccus to make her dry. I felt very happy seeing Louisa happy. Maybe, that's how a mother's mind works. I feel like she was mine from now on forward. Link:At the Great Hall Entry 5: 03/10/2076 I was still upset with Louisa until today because of her pudding ruckus. I can't really control her in front of that food. I just hope, she'll still be obedient to me in the following days. The lake was always Louisa's favorite place. That's why today, I brought her at the waterfalls. She threw tantrums, yes. That bad eggy. She's so moody. I was not paying much attention with her that time when suddenly, she was gone. I scanned the place. Maybe, she was just hiding from me when I saw her kind of drowning. I panicked a lot. I immediately went onto the waters and started to look for her. I am losing her this way. She was too precious to me now. I should not lose her. Suddenly, I realized the egg was a metal. What if she rust? Then I remembered using the Impervius spell the moment I had her. That was one of the recitations in class. Thankfully, I still found her but the weird part is that, she was invisible for I guess, 30 minutes. Weird. Maybe, it had something to do with the current of the water in the waterfalls. Or the Impervius spell? Link: At the Small Waterfall Entry 6: 03/12/2076 Today, Louisa was really cute. We've met Harvey and Annabeth who was rather sad because of her Uncle's recent loss. I felt pity for her. He's the only family she's got. At least, Harvey was there to comfort her. Anyway, we've also met Beezus with her cat Davinci. That cat was a little arrogant. I saw Louisa's color change everytime she got near Davinci. Cute little pets. She goes purple and then pink and then coming back to her normal white with patches of blue. She was no way like this ever before. I thought, or rather sure, my egg was totally crushing on Beezus' cat. Haha! Then, we'll be like mothers of a couple. Seeing Lousa all blush, I took a grab of her to check her temperature. She was warm. It wasn't normal for her. Taking my wand, I casted Argentum Frigidus to make her a little cold. At the Ravenclaw Common Room with Beezus Entry 7: 04/19/2076 I was making my way through the Ravenclaw common room when suddenly I noticed a little girl crying. I was not really familiar to her at one glance but as I get closer, the little girl seemed to be a first year too. I was also a small one but I could say I’m taller than her. With her night clothes, she looked weird. Not just because of her night clothes but also because of her face. She was drowning with tears. And she’s got a face powder. It was a make-up to be specific. I’ve never used those kinds of things on my face. I stared at her for a moment without her noticing me. She was in her face palm. I called onto her saying hey but she seemed not to hear me. When I decided to touch her, she quickly glanced back towards me. I felt like I was seeing a ghost. She was very white. She was indeed having a big problem. I asked her if she was fine, she did not respond. I went closer to extending my arms, sitting beside the girl. I introduced myself as I normally do. Still,no word from her. I pulled out my egg to let her breathe fresh air, or almost fresh air. We were inside the castle now and fresh air was harder to find than outside. I noticed I had my candy wrappers inside my pocket too and they were all jammed up together with my egg, Louisa. Poor little one. She must have suffered so hard inside and endured the time she was in there. Quickly, I used my wand to cast Excolo in order for Louisa to maintain her texture. And then using the spell Argentum Humidus, I damped her surface followed by Argentum Siccus to dry her up. She really loved when I clean her up. Turning my attention to the younger first year, I lent her my egg and because of her instant reaction of trying to cracked it with her own hand; I did not remove my hold to Louisa. Feeling so much anger within myself, I told her, “You’re lucky, I’m in a good mood today.” Link: At the Seventh Floor Corridor Entry 8: 04/21/2076 My mind was jammed up with a lot of things today. Louisa, I never thought I would forget about her. She was in my mind all these days and her safety was always first on the list. Waking up, I always looked forward on starting my day with my little egg. She was my perfect companion, my happy place, my best friend. But today was different. As I woke up, I hurried toward the bathroom, washed my face, brushed teeth and cleaned my body. I was in so much awe towards the upcoming Hogsmeade trip today. I am going alone but I kind of had a talk with Nessie that if we see each other there, then we’re shopping together. While I was looking for candies and chocolates at Honeydukes, I remembered Louisa was all alone in my drawer. She must be suffocating for air in there. I’ve never left her that way. At night, I considered her to be asleep. Things jammed my mind. What if Davinci decided to open my things and scratched my egg. Or worst, cracked her. I will never forgive Davinci for that. Deciding to go on my own while Nessie and her best friend Zara celebrate for the latter’s coming back, I hurried towards the dormitories and finally reaching the tip of my drawer. Pulling the handle, there I saw my Louisa. She was super hot…? Yeah, that’s what happened. I recovered my wand from my pocket and used the Argentum Frigidus to make her cold somehow. And then I hugged her so tight she almost broke. But still, she was in good shape. I almost forgot she was a metal egg. Link: At the Girl's Dormitories |

Then, I sneezed, which indicates that the air is too cold for me, so, I used the Argentum Calidus charm to make it warmer. To make sure that it stays warm over night, I put it in 2-overlaping socks after I 'Excolo'-ed and 'Argentum Calidus'-ed it again. First day with Eggie in my Dorm, before 9 o'clock. Entry 2: 20 January 2076 No time to write. Loads of HW. Lost Egg for 5 mins. Found it, learn/use Accio spell to summon it. Loads of homework, very little time. Huffie Common Room Entry 3: 22 January 2076 I went up to the owelry to send a monthly owl post to my mum. Egg looked a bit tarnished up there, probably because I didn't remember when was the last time I polished him. So I polished him there and warmed him a bit because it was a bit colder than usual. Owlery Entry 4: 24 January 2076 It was kind of cold today. Egg squirms a lot these days, like in Herbology just now. It made my pockets uncomfortable. I tried to squeeze it, but then remembered that it's metal so there's practically no way to calm it down just by squeezing it. I tried to ignore it but it tickles once and a while, so the least I could do was to smile uncomfortably and cast Argentum Calidus. For once, I kind of thought that I might Immobilize him any minute, but, I didn't dare damaging it any further. When I took out my wand, I had to be really careful not to drop Egg along because it's going to be a total disaster if it does. (NOO!!! A HYPERACTIVE EGG ON THE LOOSE!!!!) H e r b o l o g y Entry 5: 26 January 2076 My mom sent me a book after she received my letter 4 days ago. She gave me 'The Alchemist', the first book from 'The Secret of Nicholas Flamel' series by Michael Scott. Right after I got it I went up to the library, stuffing Egg in my pocket along the way. In the middle of my reading, Egg interrupted by moving around my pocket, but wen I 'threaten' him by putting him on the table for him to see where we were, he got quiet. Magic rocks. Library Bookshelves Entry 6: 31 January 2076 I went up to the library again to read, bringing the book mum sent me 4 days ago. This time, I went to the Library Reading Lounge instead of the Bookshelves. There, the seating spaces are much more comfortable. Also, I found my old Quidditch Caotain studying for her OWLs. We started talking about lessons, bumped into the Egg thing, and we took out our eggs. Library Reading Lounge |

Stella's egg journal Username: SilverTiger Member number: 86319 House: Ravenclaw Character name: Stella Gardiner Year: Fifth [Oberon's Adventures] Entry 1: January 20, 2076 I decided not long after the first Charms lesson that I was going to name my pretty little egg Oberon, after the faerie king in "A Midsummer Night's Dream". It seemed appropriate, and it fit my egg's appearance somehow, so Oberon it is. I don't know if it's a boy or a girl, really, but I don't think it cares. Naming it shows I care for it, whether it's gender-appropriate or not. And I do care about my little egg, and it stays with me all the time. Usually I have it wrapped in a scarf or sweater in my bag, so I don't have to worry about my books or anything scratching it, but after the holidays I also brought back a small basket so it can be next to my bed in the dorm when I sleep. Even Lyra, my kitten, seems to know that it's important, and she doesn't bother it. Anyhow, Oberon seems to like being cool and dry most of the time. Not too cold, but not really warm either. I think it knows when I'm stressed, too, as it keeps reacting whenever I'm sad or scared or anything. Today I had to try and get away from a manic enchanted snow ram, and when I was able to check on Oberon, it was damp and warm. Not good, so I corrected that with the appropriate charms. Hopefully nothing else happens before bed with myself, so hopefully Oberon doesn't need to react again. checking on Oberon ---------------------- Entry 2: February 9, 2076 Today seemed like a normal day for myself and Oberon. I woke up and checked on it, and only needed to cast a quick Argentum siccus before wrapping it up to bring with me to classes and such. It was a little damp, but that might have been from the dormitory. Some people like keeping the windows open slightly, even now when it's still cold outside. Either way, myself and Oberon got down to the Great Hall for breakfast without too much trouble, or needed Charms-work, and I went over to the Ravenclaw table without distraction. Other than my normal concern about being able to eat before I have to get to class, at least. But it seemed like Oberon didn't want me to forget about it, as it started vibrating inside my bag almost as soon as I'd started getting myself something to eat. When I checked on it again, it was freezing, so I cast the warming charm and then polished it a little. That, and leaving it on the table by my plate instead of wrapping it back up and putting it back in my bag seemed to help, so maybe things are okay again. Oberon seems happy again at least, which is good. breakfast with Oberon ---------------------- Entry 3: February 13, 2076 Sometimes it's just more calming to go outside for a while, even if it's still mid-February and not exactly warm outside. Thankfully, I haven't had too many problems adjusting to the difference in weather here as opposed to that at Beauxbatons, and I'd had a free moment or two and therefore decided to go for a walk in the grounds, Oberon wrapped in its scarf in my bag as usual. It had seemed alright in the morning, only needing a quick warming up like usual, so I wasn't too worried. I had other things to think about anyhow, and being outside seemed to help me sort my thoughts out, or at least decide to worry about them later. Apparently Oberon wasn't convinced, because halfway through my walk my bag started twitching and when I tried to find out what was wrong, it was my egg. Nothing obvious was wrong, as physically it looked perfectly normal. I didn't need to cast any of the charms from class, at least, but I needed to find out why it was vibrating yet again. Surprisingly, it seemed like Oberon wanted to answer me, vibrating more after I asked a question or two, and ultimately, I decided it was trying to tell me it was sad. I needed to fix that, even though I'd also concluded that my egg was sad because I was, and that would be less easily dealt with. I could help Oberon, though, so I cast a Cheering charm on it and petted it a little, at which point it seemed happy again. At least one of us is. out in the grounds ---------------------- Entry 4: March 15, 2076 I wonder if Oberon knows I'm getting a little more anxious as time goes by and exams get closer. I know I've been doing a lot more studying then usual, which has made Lyra feel neglected. At least she hasn't bothered Oberon, but I couldn't tell if it could sense my feelings again. It hadn't shown it, at least, not til now. Of course, it had to try and get my attention while I was in the library, and it couldn't get my attention by vibrating like it has before, either. Instead, it had to squeak. Now that I think about it, the squeak had definitely been more metallic than anything else, but at the time I'd worried I had a mouse in my bag. Luckily, I didn't have to release a mouse into the library, but Oberon had definitely not been alright. Instead, trying to hold it was like holding onto an ice cube. A really frozen ice cube that your hand sticks to, which was definitely not normal. It was easily fixed, but nowhere near normal, and it made me worry. I regulated Oberon's temperature first, though, and made it not quite as dry, with "Argentum calidus" and "argentum humidus" respectively. I'm definitely going to try and pay closer attention to it from now on, though. I don't want to end up with it squeaking in the middle of a class or something. squeaking is not good ---------------------- Entry 5: April 5, 2076 Rainy days always make me not want to do anything. It's not the cold, or the wet, just something about them make me not want to get out of bed. The wetaher doesn't seem to affect Oberon very much, beyond needing to check on it more when the weather hit one extreme or another. I'm not about to take the poor defenseless egg outside and see what the rain does to it, after all. I do take it with me when I study for exams, however, and pretty much everywhere else too. I don't want to go back to my dorm to find my kitten has knocked it under my bed or something, even if Lyra hasn't shown interest in the egg yet. That doesn't mean it's not possible. I decided to check on Oberon as I was heading, well, I hadn't decided where yet but it ended up being the library for yet more exam preparation, and took it out of my bag in the corridor to find it vibrating again. It was more like a purring vibration, than anything else, but it made me check. Oberon was fine, even though it was vibrating, although it was a bit too warm. Maybe I should switch to a lighter-weight scarf to wrap it in for safekeeping inside my bag. Either way, it was easy to regulate the egg's temperature again, using Argentum frigidus. And after a quick polishing to get rid of scarf lint, we were off to the library. rainy day ---------------------- Entry 6: April 17, 2076 Things between myself and Oberon have seemed to fall into a lull. The egg wasn't chirping, vibrating, or doing anything odd lately, so I fell back into a habit of chec king on it a couple times a day. Just because it wasn't telling me anything was wrong didn't necesarily mean that nothing was really wrong, after all. Of course, beyond the occasional polishing, nothing really did seem to be off. Until today. No, today it seems Oberon had decided to pick a different way to get my attention. By trying to take a swim in the swamp on the fifth floor. First off, the egg didn't exactly run away. It just was really wet and slipped out of my hand as I went to check on it while exploring, and then rolled away from me. I caught it before it went into the swamp, too, but it still got dirty from rolling around, wet, on the stone floors. Even the house elves can't get everything clean, not when there are as many students around walking back and forth. But at least I caught my little egg before it ended up all swampy, in addition to wet and dirty. First thing I did after I caught it, after calming down, was dry it off with Argentum siccus. That loosened the dirt up, so I was able to gently scourgify it before polishing it. Now Oberon's good as new, but I'm definitely going to check on it more often after this. runaway egg ---------------------- Entry 7: April 20, 2076: The incident on the fifth floor scared me more than I thought. I'd saved Oberon from a horrible, swampy death, but it also reminded me that maybe I hadn't been checking in my egg as much as I should have. I wasn't about to make the same mistake again, though, and I even started carrying it around in my pocket instead of wrapped up inside my school bag. At least that way, I figured, I could tell if it was having problems before it had to squeak at me or anything. It hadn't squeaked in a while, but that didn't mean I was going to trust that that meant it was doing okay. I need to study for my exams, but checking on my egg comes first. If I know it's doing fine, then I can concentrate on everything else better, after all. That meant checking on Oberon before I got into the library, so I did. At least there aren't any swamps in the corridor outside the library, so I wouldn't have to worry about escape attempts. Anyway, I didn't have to worry about it slipping from my hand. It wasn't slippery wet, but the complete opposite. I quickly fixed that, with Argentum humidus, but apparently Oberon didn't want to let me off that easily. No, I had to turn around and cast Argentum calidus as well, because the egg decided to lower its temperature as I'd cast the first spell. Either way, I got it regulated again, so hopefully I can study without having to worry too much. taking control back ---------------------- Entry 8: May 6, 2076: Every time I can go for a while without Oberon chirping at me, or doing anything else odd, actually oddly makes me relax. I'm still hyper-aware of any changes, but I worry less. Of course, worrying less about my egg just means I worry more about exams, but at least I know my egg's okay. It's not planning another attempt at drowning itself in a swamp or something, which is always good. I'd rather not worry about failing Charms on top of the worry about failing my exams. Anyway, the change in weather was nice, as I was able to go for a walk. With Oberon in my pocket, of course, even though it had been doing okay since I'd checked on it this morning when I'd waken up. I do think my egg can hear me, though. As soon as I'd wondered aloud what it was going to become, it started purr-vibrating. Apparently that wasn't as calming as I'd thought, as almost immediately afterward its temperature shot up. I don't know if the two incidents are related, or if Oberon just has a weird sense of humor. Especially as I quickly cast Argentum frigidus, after putting the egg carefully down so I wouldn't burn myself, and then it was back to normal. No weird temperature fluctuations, the humidity was fine. It was just like it wanted my attention, and then once it received that, it was fine. Just what I need, a clingy metal egg. quiet time ---------------------- Entry 9: May 14, 2076: Studying has been getting to me. Oberon actually had been fairly good, only needing the occasional spell cast on it to make sure it was comfortable, but studyin g was making me worry. Homework wasn't exactly taking a backseat to exams, but I've been spending a lot of time in the library. Practically more time than I spend in my common room, and I know Lyra's been feeling a bit lonely. Oberon, not so much, as I'm still keeping it in my pocket whenever I'm away from the dorms, and therefore it was with me on my latest trip to the library. One of these days I am seriously going to end up hurting myself, but at least my egg oddly helped me remember I didn't need to practically climb the bookshelves to retrieve the book I needed. Of course, it reminded me by scaring me half to death by vibrating in my pocket, but that turned out to be a good thing. It alerted me that I needed to raise its temperature as well, so after (quietly) casting Argentum calidus, I quickly polished it and then was able to go back to the important matter of making sure I have every possible topic covered in my studying before exams. Egg alarm is a go, it seems. At least until it hatches. I still won der what it's going to hatch into. startled ---------------------- Entry 10: May 23, 2076: Why is it that the idea that it's always quiet before the storm keeps running through my head? Possibly because Oberon's been quiet again lately. I'm not that afraid of the fact, considering it might just be my egg preparing itself for hatching, b ut it's still a bit unnerving. at least when it's twitching, vibrating, or making odd noises I know there's something going on. Quiet means I just have to check more often, but today seemed to go by alright. Not too many times of needing to cast any of the charms on my egg, but that didn't keep me from checking when I could. Not during classes or anything, but ther was certainly a lot of checking between classes. Luckily I never dropped it or anything. I'm still a bit twitchy after the swamp incident. Anyway, I didn't need to do much charm-work before bed, but there was always the last-minute check. Oberon still hadn't made any weird noises or motions, but that wasn't stopping me from checking on it for the milionth time. Not too bad, but I had to cast Argentum calidus and Argentum siccus. I wonder if the eggs actually perspire. Even though that's a really odd thought, and I'm pretty sure I won't find the answer. Especially if my egg hatches before then. I'm still curious about that, too. What my little Oberon is going to become. I'm fairly certain it won't hatch into a faerie king, but that would be interesting. I'm certain whatever it becomes will be amazing, I just need to wait. winding down ---------------------- |

But the very next day, I started carrying the still un- named egg in my left pocket. On the first day, the temperature seemed quite ok for it was neither excessively warm nor cold. When I took it out of my trunk that day, I had noticed it was a bit dusty. I took care of the Egg during breakfast at the Hufflepuff table where something strange occurred. Huffie Table Post 2: (26/07/76) It was an ordinary afternoon after class when I was reading a Muggle book. I didn't notice any strange behaviour with my egg all day because I constantly checked it, making sure the temperature was right and there was no damage to it. But while at the Lake, the egg wanted to do something which reminded me of human behaviour. The Lake Post 3: (29/01/76) Nothing much was needed to be done with my Egg today. I only cleaned out the little grooves that were made when the Egg had dragged itself towards the Lake. And the Egg finally got a name! The Whomping Willow Post 4: (01/02/76) Today once again, Egghead got out of my pocket. How does it keep doing that with me noticing? He managed to send me into a frantic search for him. Anyway, Egghead was extremely cold today, so cold he was shivering. But I did get his temperature down. Huffie Table Post 5: (05/02/76) Today I nearly lost Egghead. As, I was at the Lake today, he fell in. Stupid me! I totally forgot he was in my pocket. The Lake Post 6: (07/02/76): I noticed Egghead was a bit to dry for my liking so I put the spell on him that would make him damp. Other than that, he was in perfect "health"! I always seem to write stupid things which has nothing to do with the assignment itself...like i am doing now. But since it is homework i guess i have to. So, at Charms class Argentum Calidus: Heats the egg Argentum Frigidus: Makes the egg cold again. Argentum Siccus: Dries the egg Argentum Humidus: moist or damps the egg Excolo: polishes the egg My egg that i choose has a silver colour. And on the top (or is it the bottom?) of the egg there are some incravings on it that seems to form a sort of patern. Personaly, i like my egg. At first i named it "DHANY" which stands for Doesn't Have A Name Yet" but i knew i was going to forget about that so i picked a more simple name and called the egg SuSu. I had taken SuSu everywhere where i went. To the point that i almost forgot about it which i admit. Nothing special happened , it was just a boring metal egg until i was at the Owlery to send my brother a The Owlery |

I touched it and it no longer hot anymore, then I took it and brought it to my bed. Link's post: Slytherin Girls Dorm Entry 2: February 2nd 2076 I was enjoying my alone time at the lake. There were Zhenya and Desiree, my best friends. Noticed that Desiree was taking care her egg carefully, I remembered that I put my egg on a secret pocket in my bag, because it liked falling from anything. And it was neglected for weeks. I took my egg from the secret pocket and put it on my palm. Then it was falling... AGAIN *sigh* then I polished it with excolo charm. Link's post: Slytherin Common Room Entry 6: June 10 2076 So long I didn't take care about my egg. It looked abandoned and awful. I was walking at the courtyard and took my egg. Well not much happened with my egg until today I guess. I decided to take a walk and sat down by the small waterfall and swimming pond which is right now a skating rink. I have been carrying my egg around everywhere I go because I am determined for it to hatch and don't want it to not hatch because I am not taking care of it. Once I got to the waterfall I sat down and pulled my egg out. It was shivering a bit so I decided to use one of the spells we learned in class Argentum Calidus to make it feel warmer. Then I decided it needed a name. Inspecting the surface of my egg I noticed that the purple swirly patterns on its outside formed to sort of look like bubbles in some places. So from now on my little egg is named Bubbles. Sincerely,The Small Waterfall and Swimming Pond |

I really don't know why but I just like the name. Probably because it reminds me of my cousin's name Edward - but who knows. Eggbert is interesting and cool to the touch with his metalic feel. It was just earlier today that when I checked on Eggbert I found he was covered in lint, dust, and all the annoying little pelt-bits from the towel he had been wrapped in. This was not fun, I really didn't want to have to display constant vigilance with primping and polishing my egg. I guess I'm an unfit mother - but at least I'm taking care of him. I really want to know what Eggbert becomes - who knows he might be something really rather interesting. ~ India. Ravenclaw Common Room 1 Entry 2: One Balmy Day: February 2nd, 2076 Today I came into the Dormitory to check on Eggbert and to take care of him in his shell-covered wonder and I found the room was freezing cold. It was like living in a walk-in-freezer. Not fun at all. Anyhow, Eggbert didn't look to well so I cast a heating charm on him and it seemed to have done the trick. He's gotten brighter in tonation, and it seems like he's shaking far less. I really do wonder if Eggy can shiver. ~India Ravenclaw Girls Dormitory Entry 3: Too Hot to Trot February 12, 2076 Today as I was on a walk with Eggbert I noticed he didn't look all too well - a little steamy, very hot to the touch. Actually when I touched his normally cool surface I burnt my finger a bit. Its still a bit sore but I wanted my little Eggy to be safe so I used the freezing charm on him and well it worked wonders. One minute he was letting off steam and the next poof no more unbearable heat and no more boiling steamyness. He looked all together better. And the funny part - I was outside when this all happened. What would have happened if I was inside?...and is it possible for an egg to have a cold? I might look up some more charms and do a little research at the study table later on today or this week. Eitherway I want him to be safe and sound or is it her? Eggbert could be anything! ~ India The Lake Entry 4: Death Defyingly Dangerous Decents :: Febuary 13 2076 Eggbert and I had a scary little moment today. While I was climbing up the giant treehouse my bag broke the egg-carrying bag that is - so now I need a ruddy new one or else i'll have to swaddel and carry him in my arms which can really put a damper in one's plans...i mean how do I carry eggbert swaddled with me to class? Not easily. Especially not potions. So I cast Immobulus on him and froze his decent when he was an inch or so from the ground - and then I cradled him in my arms....I didn't want anything to happen to my little baby - I want to see him hatch into whatever it is thats inside of him...because that would be amazing. Katelyn Star ;; Slytherin Username: PureBlood64Entry 1: Second of February in the year 2076 I would never imagine taking care of a egg, but look at me now, things change, I decided I would name the egg Eggy, keeping it simple of course, no reason really of the name, expect the fact that its an Egg and I just added a y to the end. Deciding on just going to the common room instead of the grounds for now I checked out the egg making it was okay from last night, it was rested on a pillow in an open draw in my bedside table, it was in there so Vixy wouldn't play around with it and maybe dent it, because Vixy can be very playful at times and sometimes can cause damage so I had to make sure the egg was safe, and it seems it was, no dents, marks nothing, but thats when I saw some dust on Eggy, it must be gone immediately! So I used the spell Excolo and with that the egg was nice and clean, and shiny. Sitting by the fire of course I wasn't surprised when the egg got a bit warm, and as quick as that I got out my wand again and used Argentum Frigidus. That was all that happened in the common room really, it was getting late anyway so I took Eggy back up to the girls dorm, and put it back in the very special draw just for Eggy, I'm thinking of making a sign to put on the draw, no reason, just because it would be fun, and it would give me something to do. Sincerely, Katelyn Star Slytherin Common Room ------------------------- Entry 2: Tenth of February in the year 2076 Its been only a few days since I wrote in my journal, so I thought its time to, but to catch you up nothing interesting has happened with Eggy, all I have been doing is cleaning the egg, making sure its the right temperature and that it wasn't too dry and really wet, oh, and that Vixy didn't find the egg.... Until today, so I still haven't taken the egg out of the Slytherin area, today I had the egg in the dorms with me while I read, but whilst I was finishing a page, Vixy was trying to bring the egg down to the ground, that curious cat could have broken it! But I wasn't going to get to angry, she didn't know that the egg was sort of precious and should be kept safely and not to be played with, but even telling her no she started playing with Eggy, and I could see that one more second with that egg and Vixy would break it, so I explained everything to Vixy and she went away, to be honest I think she is jealous, I checked Eggy and it was fine, good. I watched the egg for awhile see if anything interesting happened and thats when Eggy wiggled, how odd, maybe it was trying to tell me something?, I lifted the egg and felt it was really dry, so immediately I used the spell Argentum Humidus so it would be a little damp again, because it might get super dry and get cracks and all that, and I really really don't want that to happen to Eggy, I want to make sure my egg is the perfect egg, well, nearly perfect, because nothing can be completely perfect. Thankfully, it was a nice, soft surface, so no damage whatsoever was found on the surface on my egg. And speaking of which, I found it shaking! At first I thought it was probably just scared of all the screaming that I had been doing while trying to look for it, but when things had finally quieted down, it was still shaking, so I deduced that it was probably from the cold...after all, the dungeons wasn't known as being one of the warmest places in Hogwarts, and so, I cast the 'Argentum Calidus' charm on it, and sure enough, it stopped shivering! Yay. Then, I decided to name it Allie, coming from the word 'Alloy' which most metals - even silver - have. Isn't it awesome? --Cass. Slytherin Girls' Dorm ------------------------------------------------------ Entry 2: February 18, 2076 (Allie makes an Enemy) Today, I decided to take Allie with me to the owlery to wait for my mother's letter...but things didn't turn out the way I planned it. First, Allie has somehow gotten herself wet, and I absolutely have no clue how it happened, or why, but I didn't really mind it as I simply cast the Argentum Siccus charm to dry her up. Then, when my owl finally arrived, Things started to go downhill from there. Well, fist off, SHE HATED ALLIE. Absolutely loathed her. So, she started hooting at her, while Allie just sat there like the metal egg that she was, so, I protective and hugged my egg closer to me, which just totally made my owl even angrier and so she flew off and pooped on Allie! So, basically, it was a major disaster. I am never putting them in the same room, ever again. --Cass. Owlery ------------------------------------------------------ Entry 3: February 20, 2076 (Breakfast Blues) So, Allie woke me up today. Yippee. For some insane reason, she had somehow ended up on my bed! I don't know how, but I woke up to her, jumping on top of the green comforter! She almost fell of the bed too, it was a good thing I caught her in time. Honestly, this egg was learning how to disobey me faster than I did with my mother. But, aside from the near accident, nothing else out of the ordinary happened. She was a good little egg that stayed in her basket while got ready for the day and we both went down to breakfast. That was where the action started. So, I was sitting there, about to eat the delicious piece of toast with strawberry jam, then Allie suddenly goes crazy and started shaking, not only that, when I tried to touch her she burnt me! But finally, after cooling her down. she calmed too..but then I guess she hated my toast, because when I reached for another thing to eat, she didn't go berserk like last time. It was a shame. I'm rather fond of toast. --Cass. Slytherin House Table |
Gideon Gert-Gryffindor Username: Macavity Member number: 77690 House: Gryffindor Character name: Gideon Gert Year: 4th Year [Title of your Journal] Adventures in Egg-Sitting Entry 1: January 31, 2076 Since class I've been mainly keeping an eye on my egg, the egg still unnamed compared to the others I've happened upon others talking and dealing with. Its been relatively fine until one morning when upon touch and removal where it was kept during the night it was shivering and seemed a little colder then it usually seemed. Not that I'm an expert on it. SPOILER!!: Boy's Dorms Entry 2: March 27th, 2076 One needs to be careful when dealing with hot metal. Unlike my last adventure, I was surprised by a surprisingly warmer then usual egg and of course it needed to be cooled down.Thankfully there was a spell to help just as there was before and thankfully my hand had not gotten burned, just a little achy for the day. SPOILER!!: Pathways Entry 3: April 4th, 2076 The temperature and conditions have seemed alright with the egg since my last check in, more like it was usually. However the silver coating outside the egg was appearing to be far from the same color or condition it had been when I first selected it in class, seeming a little dull. So I worked on making it shine again and over time it was a success. SPOILER!!: Courtyard Entry 4: April 7th, 2076 Today was an interesting day that simply started out with a break out by the lake enjoying a somewhat warmer day. However upon an attempt to get up from my perch near the water's edge, my egg and I had a mishap and my metal charge accidentaly went for a swim. Thankfully my dear friend seems to like swimming for despite needing to be dried off, it had returned to its pleasant usualness. SPOILER!!: Lake Entry 5: April 13th, 2076 I really never should have gotten that close to the common room fireplace and the fire within it. Otherwise my dear egg might not have gotten so unnaturally warm, at least unnatural in my opinion since I can not be certain of anything. I just hope it is alright and I haven't done anything damaging or imreparable. SPOILER!!: Gryffindor Common Room Entry 6: May 2nd, 2076 I admit as time has been passing since we had first been given our eggs and this assignment, my curiousity has only grown as to what the overall result will be. And as such my focus has been dragged to it from time to time even at times when it seems perfectly fine and not needing my attention. SPOILER!!: Library Entry 7: May 15th, 2076 One must always be careful and watchful of weather conditions when venturing outside especially with items that might react either outdoors or when returned indoors. And what might be fine to a human will not necessarily be fine for my egg. I certainly learned that fact after returning from a little walk outside where even in the warming weather of May, my charge was somewhat uncomfortable in return. SPOILER!!: Entrance Hall Entry 8: May 27th, 2076 Can a metal egg get hungry? Or can it feel what its human companion does? I dont know the answer though I highly doubt it. Nevertheless it certainly seemed to do so at least at first when I headed into the Great Hall today. Perhaps I was meerly imagining things at the time and connection various reactions to the wrong stimuli. SPOILER!!: Great Hall Entry 9: June 3rd, 2076 This was the reason I had taken to carrying the egg nearly everywhere I went. (Flying and other events being obviously out of the question for safety concerns) But anyway, there I was, giving it some alone time persay and it just seemed lke it wouldn't have it. Guess it has gotten quite attached to me...for a technically non-living thing. SPOILER!!: Boy's Dorms Entry 10: June 12th, 2076 It seems no matter how careful or watchful I was or how protected the egg was, it still managed to get grungy or whatever other would you could think of. And I couldn't think of leaving it that way, especially for any length of time. So once more I polished it, having done so periodically thoughout the year as it wore down its shininess. And like a human after a nice shower or bath, my egg was nearly good as new and 'clean.' SPOILER!!: 5th Floor Corridor |
Violet P. Blackthorne, Slytherin Username: MadAlice Member number: 174915 House: Slytherin Character name: Violet P. Blackthorne Year: First Violet's Egg-Charming Journal; or Life with Lewis Entry 1: Jan. 26, 2076 In class, I thought my egg was moving around because I poked it with my wand or because it was slippery from the humidity charm, but after working with it for a while, I have come to the conclusion that this egg is trying to get away from me! It slips out of my hand and rolls away under the furniture or into dark cupboards at every opportunity. I have taken to keeping it in an inside pocket of my robes at all times, except at night, when I lock it in a little metal box I have to keep it safe from harm. I have been polishing it at least once a week, more if it needs it. So far the temperature seems constant. I have also named it 'Lewis,' after an author I like who wrote about a talking egg. Maybe having a name will make it want to stay in one place. link to Post #1 ---------------------- Entry 2: Feb. 20, 2076 I took my egg outside today (I keep in in my robe pocket all the time when I'm not in my dorm). I had gone out for some air and forgotten I had Lewis with me. It was quite chilly and windy out, and it almost seemed as if my egg was moving in my pocket and trying to burrow under my robes to get warm. I used the 'Argentum Calidus' charm on it, and it stopped moving immediately and felt warmer. Then I replaced it in my pocket and went back inside before it could get too cold again. link to Post #2 ---------------------- Entry 3: Mar. 3, 2076 Things are going well; Lewis is thriving! (well, if a metal egg can be said to thrive, that is). I had to adjust the temperature a number of times with the Calidus charm during February, as it stayed quite chilly, and I have continued polishing and cleaning it weekly at minimum. All seemed quite uneventful until my second flying lesson. I had forgotten I still had Lewis in my pocket and took it up flying with me, and later it started jumping around in my pocket. amost as if it were agitated. I myself am afraid of heights and am terrified every time I get on a broom, and it seemed as if my egg was somehow picking up on my emotional condition and mirroring it. I checked it thoroughly and it seemed fine, other than the odd behavior, and when I stroked it for a few minutes, it eventually calmed down and stopped jumping. Link to Post #3 ---------------------- Entry 4: Mar. 10, 2076 Lewis got away from me again while I was taking a walk around the grounds--it's almost as if it were trying to escape or something. It is the jumpiest thing I ever saw in my life. I nearly had a heart attack because Lewis very nearly rolled beneath the gazebo, and I thought I'd never get it out again, but fortunately I was able to catch it just in time. It had gotten all muddy and I had to scourgify it to clean it off (the Scourgify charm seems to work all right on the egg). After that, I thought it seemed damp, probably from all the mud, so I used Argentum Siccus to dry it off a bit, and after that it seemed fine again. I seem to be getting the hang of these charms now, so my Charms project should turn out pretty well if I can just keep Lewis from getting away. link to Post #4 ---------------------- Entry 5: March 21, 2076 I was up in the Owlery today and was checking on Lewis, almost out of habit. I suddenly noticed it was dry and performed the Humidus charm on it right away, and it immediately seemed to return to the right moisture level again. I'm glad I've gotten in the habit of checking Lewis periodically throughout the day--probably if I let a problem go on too long, it might get really bad and hard to fix, or it may even be impossible to fix. It's like anything, it's better to correct and tend things as you go along rather than letting them build up. I think the windy air up in the Owlery might have dried Lewis out, so maybe I won't take him with me there next time. link to Post #5 ---------------------- Entry 6: April 4, 2076 I finally made it to a Hogsmeade weekend! It was pretty good--I didn't care much for Honedukes, it was so crowded, as well as Zonko's, but the Shrieking Shack was pretty interesting, and I was able to stock up on supplies at the stationers. After walking around for a while, I went to the Hog's Head for a butterbeer, and while I was there, I took out Lewis (my egg) to check on it. I sat there for some time, taking in the atmosphere, and when I touched my egg again, I noticed that it had rolled against my glass and was now cold. I am assuming that the egg picked up on the coolness of the glass, and that this egg can be affected by the temperature of its environment in general. Anyway, I used the Calidus charm on it and got it back to the right temperature in no time. link to Post #6 ---------------------- Entry 7: April 18, 2076 The weather is finally warm enough to study outside, so I had gone out to the lake this afternoon to study. I took a lunch, transfigured a blanket, and brought nearly all my books, then sat there studying nearly all afternoon. It was a really nice day, sunny and mild and little breezy, so I took my egg out of my pocket and set it on the blanket near me, thinking maybe it could use some fresh air, too. When I was done studying, I reached down to feel my egg and noticed it was rather hot; I think it must have been sitting in the sun that did it. I used the Argentum Frigidus charm and it returned to normal temperature right away. Just to be sure, though, I think I won't leave it sitting out in sunlight again, or at any rate, not for very long. link to Post #7 ---------------------- Entry 8: May 1, 2076 Today I got up before dawn and went outside to observe the 1st of May like a good witch. I'm pretty sure bathing in the May dew won't help me to be beautiful, but hey, it can't hurt. It was fun to see the sun rise and smell the early morning air. I had gone down to the greenhouses and gardens to do this, because I thought that would be a nice spot. I had Lewis with me in my pocket, of course. I don't know if the air was unusually damp or if I accidentally rubbed against something wet or put my wet hands in my pocket, but my egg got a little damp outside. However, I was able to put it right using the drying charm, so no harm done. So far, the egg seems to be affected by its environment and by my own mood; interesting. link to Post #8 ---------------------- Entry 9: May 16, 2076 I let Lewis get just a bit too tarnished this week. It wasn't really intentional--it's just that every time I try to work on my egg, my fellow Slytherins are always putting in their noses and interfering (I swear some of them do it on purpose!). I walked all over the castle trying to find a quiet spot to work and wound up way up on the Seventh Floor, when the most marvelous thing happened! I was walking back and forth along the corridor, right by that silly-looking tapestry, when all of a sudden I saw this door I had never noticed before, and when I turned the handle to check it out, I found a nice quiet little room with a chair and a work-table and even a little light to help me see. It was just exactly what I had been hoping for--a quiet place to work on my egg in peace, and here it appeared just when I wanted it. It was, if you'll pardon the expression, "like magic"! So I spent a nice quiet afternoon using the Excolo charm to get Lewis looking really top-notch, just in time for finals. link to Post #9, part 1 link to Post #9, part 2 ---------------------- Entry 10: June 3, 2076 Well, the term is nearly over, and Lewis seems to be doing fine, so I hope he will hatch into something interesting. I think I've gotten pretty good at all the charms we've learned, after doing them so many times. My egg had a tendency to roll away whenever I took my attention off of him, but I've learned not to let my guard down while handling him, so he hasn't gotten loose for quite a while now. I thought it was kind of a pain to have to carry around a metal egg all the time, but now I find I've quite gotten used to it and will even miss Lewis when he's hatched into whatever he's going to hatch into. I also find I've started calling this egg a 'him' instead of an 'it.' I know it's just my mind playing tricks on me and that Lewis isn't really alive, but it's been kind of nice to know there was company in my pocket whenever I wanted it, and I don't see the harm in indulging myself just a little. Well, Lewis, your next great adventure will be upon us soon--good luck, little friend! Link to Post #10 ---------------------- finis |
