As the term progressed on and on and Gideon had spent more and more time with his egg that was still unnamed, he was getting more and more curious as to what was going to be coming from it when it all was over. Studying in the library one day, his charge was perched on his robes which he had spread on the table in front of him so he was just in uniform and it wasn't in risk of being knocked about. And as he worked, his attention was drawn every once and a while up to the silver egg.
Magical bird...reptile... amphibian?
None of the above and something else entirely?
Okay so he was officially distracted as the musings crossed his mind and he put down his quill with a sigh. Picking up his egg, he leaned back in the chair he was seated in, randomly rolling the silver object between his hands as he mused, his gaze staring off into the distance. After a while he paused in the movement of his hands and looked at the egg once more debating something. If he was so distracted by the egg he might as well make use of it right. And they WERE supposed to use the exercise to practice the various spells they learned. With that in mind, Gideon slipped his wand from his pocket as he thought over which to practice.
"Hot and cold seem harmless enough," Gideon mused aloud though quietly and more to himself then anyone who may be passing. Settling the egg in his non-wand hand preparing to cast what he knew. "Argentum Calidus," he cast with a swish and tap to warm his egg up. as the ambient temperature responded in kind, the Gryffindor registered it was perhaps warming too much too quickly. "Argentum," -swish - "Frigid-us," -tap - he cast to counter the previous spells effects and stopping when it was back to its more usual conditions.
Now to try that again.
"Argentum," -swish- "cal-lid-us," -tap- Gideon cast performing the orginal spell once more, though now careful to pay more attention and focus on the spell to try and control its effects better. And when he was satisfied, he repeated the cold spell with the same swish and tap and incantation to cool down to roughly its begining condition. Whew...I'm certainly done for today, he mused to himself setting the egg back down into its previous fabric 'throne.' and returned to his studying.
