This time he was awake and alert. Kennedy was deeply concentrated in a Herbology book about Devil Snares. He found those plants extremely fascinating. Maybe it was because they were dangerous, but at same time they were plants. No muggle plants were that coolly vicious and he knew that Hogwarts would be the only place he'd be able read about them.

He was just about to flip the page when the egg that had been sitting in its makeshift crib did something that is has never done before. Kennedy sat frozen not knowing what to do. The egg was basically jumping... on it's own with a dark gray glow. For a minute there he was sure the egg was ready to hatch because that's never happened, but when he grabbed it he knew why it was reacting like this. It was really cold.

The boy took out his wand. "Argentum Calidus," he said, doing the wand movement. The egg grew slightly warm, but was still considerably cold. Was his magic faltering? Or was his wand broken?

Nah, those couldn't be possible.

"Argentum Calidus!" he said, adding more intent into his charm. It worked as the egg returned to its original state. This was definitely going into his journal.
