Despite spring being just around the corner, or as close around the corner as it could be in February, Kurumi found the corridors to be unusually cold and was wishing that she had worn a warmer coat. As she turned the corner, Kurumi remembered that THIS was the place where she had lost her shoe back in November. Bending down, the fourth year slipped off her shoes and proceeded to carry them in her right hand. She wasn't about to lose another shoe. Speaking of which, there it was...sitting in all its glory magically glued to the floor by whatever spell had been cast on the area.

Poor shoe.

Looking down at it, she noticed an unusual glow coming from her pocket. Now, collecting fireflies was something that she did back home, but she hadn't done that at Hogwarts - unless she had been sleep walking while she did and therefore had no recollection of it. Slowly, she reached into her pocket and felt the cold metal of her egg. Was her egg glowing? That seemed ridiculous. And...as ridiculous as it sounded, that ended up to be true. "You're...glowing..." she said, stating the obvious and slightly wrinkling her nose. Now, what did that mean? Maybe it was telling her it wanted to be all shiny? Shiny things glowed, right?

"Excolo," she said while she performed the wand movement. That didn't go over well at all, and the egg began...squeaking? No, that wasn't the right word. The sound was high pitched, almost like a sound that should only be heard by crups, and she was afraid she was going to go deaf from it. Squinting at the end, she was able to make out the designs on the egg...shifting? They were rubbing together to make that nose? Weird...REALLY weird. "Okay, okay, I understand...you don't want to be polished," she squeaked, begging the egg to stop the noise. Brought a whole new meaning to the term squeaky clean...

So, it didn't need polishing, and she already knew what it did when it was hot, so that wasn't it. Glowing...like the sun? Could that be it? Holding the egg in her left hand, she rolled up the sleeve of her left arm before shifting the egg to her right and rolling up her right sleeve. Here goes nothing...

"Argentum Calidus," she whispered. The egg shivered just a little when the spell enveloped it it. Hmm...interesting. It was still glowing a bit, so she repeated the spell again and the glow faded completely along with the egg returning to its usual silver tone. Another small crisis averted. Time to continue with her walk through the corridor...in her socks...

Good bye shoe. She would come back and visit it again sometime soon.
