Alyssa decided to go up to the Owlery to visit her Snowy Owl, Shannia. “Hello, girl,” Alyssa whispered to Shannia and she slowly ruffled her feathers. She reached into her bag and pulled out the bag of owl pellets and dead insects and fed them to Shannia. While placing the bags of food back into her bag, her fingers brushed against the woolen sock that held her metallic egg. “Hey,Shannia. Do you want to see something cool?” Alyssa asked Shannia. Taking out the woolen sock from her, Alyssa slung bag over her shoulder, reached into the sock and took out the egg. She showed the shiny egg to her owl, who hooted and stared at it. “It’s nice isn’t it?, Well I better put it back inside the sock before I drop it.”

As she was reaching for the sock to drop the egg back into it, her bag slipped off her shoulder. Alyssa tried to grab for it before it hit the floor that was covered in owl droppings and remnants of food pellets and insects. She managed to catch it in time but totally forgot that she also had the egg in her other hand and accidentally released her grip on it. She reached out to grab it, but missed and the egg dropped to floor and rolled around for awhile before it lay perfectly still.

“Oh Merlin, oh Merlin. Please don’t let it be cracked.”Alyssa exclaimed. She reached down, picked it up and carefully examined it. She breathed a sigh of relief when she didn’t see any cracks. However, the egg was now covered in owl droppings. “I’m so sorry for dropping you. I’ll clean you up right now.” Alyssa whispered to Queenie. Taking out her wand, she first washed away the droppings by using the Argentum Humidus spell to wet it. Twirling her wand and pointing at it she said, “Ar-gent-um Humid-us”. Water started dripping from the egg. She holstered her wand and using the water started wiping off the owl droppings with her hand. Once she had washed off all of the droppings, she then used some of the water that was still spurting out of the egg and washed her hands before taking out her wand again. “Now to dry you up.” She twirled and pointed her wand, this time saying, “Ar-gent-um Sik-us”. The egg stopped dripping water and the water droplets on its shell started to evaporate.

Soon the egg was dry and clean. “One more thing to do.” With all that water exposure, Alyssa didn’t want Queenie to end up rusting, so she cast the Excolo spell to clean and polish it up. She pointed her wand, moving and tracing it all over the egg, and said, “Ex-CO-lo”. A yellow light engulfed the egg and when it disappeared, it gleamed brightly from the sunlight shining into the tower. Alyssa examined it one more time and once she was satisfied that it was thoroughly cleaned and polished, placed it back into the woolen sock and safely tucked it back into her bag. She then went over to her owl, ruffled its feathers, kissed it on the head, and left the Owlery.
