Located on the South side of Diagon Alley in London, past a number of other shops you notice a quaint building. It is a café in this fairly busy part of section. What makes this different from the other shops? Their logo for one, resembling a wispy stag that moves every now and then in the window, illuminating from a quite distance in the evenings. One can't help but chance a glance as they pass by.
Approaching the café you get a large sense of security as a warm haze falls over you upon entry. There were tables outside the place, where diners could have their meals and chat among themselves as well as indoors. Heading on the inside you are greeted with the sight of many Patronuses floating throughout the walls behind the other stag logos of the café. The flooring a pleasant velvet red, further emphasizing the pleasant warmth one would experience whether for a quick stop or a romantic scenery.
Floating around you see the wispy forms moving around the walls featuring creatures such as phoenixes, zebras, otters, horses and many other magical creatures. Perhaps your own will join the walls if you stay long enough? The tables are compact and decorated with candles that automatically light up keeping the darkness at bay. Along with additional small booths near the back for more privacy. The Menu illuminates right behind the counter as you approach to order. As soon as you sit, you can't help but feel as if you're right at home.

He had mixed feelings about no longer being at Hogwarts. It hadn't taken long for him to realize how much he missed the castle and seeing friends on a daily basis. Life had been so simple then. University life was welcomed nevertheless. It meant he wasn't restricted by hundreds of rules, spending all day in classes, or being watched like a hawk by professors. There was a lot of freedom now. Though perhaps there was too much freedom because he still had no clue what he was going to do with his life.
Such thoughts were on Gabriel Diggle's mind as he stepped inside the café. He figured he'd mull over possible majors and career paths over a cup of coffee and enjoy a bite to eat. He'd maybe do a little Christmas shopping after to keep him busy until it was time to head back to the university.
After receiving his order, an espresso and a ham and chimera-spiced chutney sandwich, Gabe meandered over to the window, took an available seat, and unwrapped his sandwich. His brown eyes watching the snow fall and people pass by as he took a bite. Eventually he did a double take, seeing the reflection of a familiar face. He turned his head to the side, taking in the sight of the former housemate sitting a few spots down. "Aria?"
Hearing a familiar voice she haven't heard in awhile, she turned to the voice and smiled. "Gabe? Oh my goodness hi! How are you?" Wow... it been awhile since she saw him, man did time change things. She did have to admit she did have a small crush on him when they were at Hogwarts, funny enough the feelings were coming back. Although he was probably happily taken by someone beautiful and deserved someone like him, she didn't feel she was that type. Her emerald green eyes looking at him she bit her lip, he sure gotten taller and more of a scruff going on that she didn't mind one bit.
"Well... well, going a little manily scruff going on now are we?" Giving a little chuckle she took a small bit of her chocolate croissant. "Doing some shopping or just getting away from the school life? I'm doing a bit of both." Sighing to herself she looked at him. [B]"Weird not being at Hogwarts, it was like a security blanket for me and now, being in the real world as a adult with so many responsibilities just wish to be a kid again."[b/] Was she rambling? Yeah... probably but anyone that knew her knew she was a bubbly ray of sunshine as most people called her and didn't shut up.

A smile appeared on his face, a bit relieved that he hadn't mistaken someone for an old classmate. That would have been incredibly awkward, which likely would have resulted in him bolting out the door in embarrassment. Thank Merlin the situation had panned out more favourably. "Hi. I'm doing well. Yourself?" Gabe answered casually. He then glanced at the seat next to her. "Anyone claim that seat there?"
Aria having a crush on him in the past was something he has unaware of. In fact, a fair amount of his days at Hogwarts were spent learning how to hold a basic conversation with girls. He had improved with that the past few years, though he was still awful at noticing the signs that someone fancied him.
The way she was now looking at him, as if she her analyzing him, did unintentionally make him feel a little weird. "Yeah, thought I'd give it a go. Mainly to see if I can even grow a beard," Gabriel responded with a slightly awkward laugh.
He let Aria's rambling continue and waited for her to be finished. He knew that she was a bit of a chatterbox, which he didn't mind at all as it kept the conversation going. "Mainly here for lunch. Might do a little shopping before class starts in a couple of hours," he told her before taking a sip of espresso. "I know what you mean. You're at WU London, right? What are you studying?"
Merlin it would've been embarrassing if it wasn't Gabriel that she seen, oddly she made that mistake more times then she can count. As the result she hid her face in embarrassment and shame, before bolting out the door quickly not looking back. "I'm doing good, taking a break from studying and my load of homework.." Nodding she smiled softly. "Of course not, go ahead it's yours for the taking."
Yeah... she kept it pretty well hidden during her Hogwarts years, it was probably cause she had a feeling that she didn't stand a chance. After all there were tons of girls that were prettier then her and was a popular as her, but also overrated and popular in the wrong ways. She wasn't the one to party and drink, she never was and never will be. She doesn't understand how people become popular cause of the parties they throw.
She didn't mean to stare at him, it was just how she seen how much a person as changed since she last seen them she knew it was a bit strange and creepy. "It looks nice on you." Giving him a small smile she took a drink of her hot chocolate.
She always tended to ramble, a bad habit of hers that she needed to stop doing but didn't think it was possible. Indeed it did keep the conversation going, but she does tend to bore people easily though. " I understand, I wanted to get away from the campus for awhile and have some fun." Giving him a small shrug she replied. " I don't know yet, I been doing Herbology and Magical creatures seeing how I love them both but haven't decided on what I wanted to be. Yeah, I am closer to home and stuff, been feeling a bit home sick."

Gabe nodded in response to her doing well and needing a break from studying. In many ways, he was in the same boat as her -- whoever said there wouldn't be homework after Hogwarts was full of it. As for the available seat next to her, he didn't need to be told twice and scooted on over.
Maybe the staring would have been a little weirder had he known Aria once had a crush on him. Nevertheless, he did still find the staring weird. The former Hufflepuff wasn't really one to draw much attention to himself. He preferred to lay low and chill. But he supposed the facial hair was a bit different for someone like him who had made it a point to stay clean-shaven.
"Thanks. You look nice too," he said, certain that his cheeks were starting to turn a shade of pink. Too busy himself, he took a bit of his sandwich. "You know, without a beard." Another nervous little chuckle sounded.
As he chewed, Gabriel listened to Aria continue on with why she was in the alley and what she was studying, or at least considering. Her not knowing what to focus on or what career to work toward was yet another similarity the two shared. He hadn't the foggiest what he wanted to do with his life. "Hmm," he mused, taking the opportunity to swallow the bite of his sandwich. "Have you considered Potions? Kinda a blend of both worlds and then some." Besides the whole brewing thing, one needed to know the ingredients, which often came from creatures and plants. Interacting with both directly was likely too, and he assumed she'd want to make sure things were being collected humanely.
Just when she thought being a seventh year with tons of homework and studying, it was worse being a student at the Uni. Oh what she wished to be a seventh year again, at least she had fun.
She didn't mean to stare, she was just observing how much he has changed since she last saw him. Oh Merlin he's probably going to think she's a weirdo for staring at him, oh jeez what did she do now? Aria was a bit of a loner and kept to herself, she wasn't popular by any means so no one really noticed her. She was most majority quiet and was mainly in the library. Yeah... no way someone like him would like someone like her, it was very laughable in her opinion.
Looking up from her hands she gave him a soft warm smile her cheeks a bit red from blushing. Taking a bite of her chocolate croissant she swallowed and laughed. " Yeah...I don't think a beard would suit you, would hide too much of that cute face." Realizing what she said she blushed more, Merlin was it hot in here or was it just her?
At the moment she was just trying to get rid of the basics that were kinda required to take. Drinking her hot chocolate she shool her head. "Y'know I really haven't, but that's a great idea Gabe! Also potions can be used to treat and heal creatures and also for plants why didn't I think of that sooner?""What about you find anything you want to be or are you as cluless as me? The Environmental Rangers came for carrer day at the uni it sounds tempting, but I don't know sorta want to be a Creature healer or so."

He also hadn't been popular by any means while at Hogwarts, but a decent-sized friend group was there. They all were guys though since he could only muster a few words to most girls. There were only a handle he felt were more than just acquaintances, but none had ever been considered a romantic interest. He wouldn't know what to do had there been an interest in someone like that. Even after recently reading Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches, properly navigating such a thing was still foreign to him.
At least Gabriel was now at the stage where he could have a conversation with anyone, even if he was still a little awkward. Otherwise, he might not have addressed Aria and just ate his sandwich, drank his espresso, and went on his way without a word. It was nice talking to someone familiar though.
Was it warm in the café? Gabe was fully aware that his cheeks were warmer than usual, and he just now noticed that Aria's were a bit red as well. He wondered if he should ask someone to bring the temperature down a lit -- The thought did not finish processing as another took over his mind. Did she just say that he had a cute face? He didn't say anything and quickly went back to his sandwich and espresso, certain that his face had gone a shade redder.
Not sure how to respond to Aria's comment about his face, the talk about university and majors was welcomed. He had to give her props for at least having two potential careers in mind. "Maybe do a major in Magizoology and a minor in Potions or Herbology then?" As for her question about him, he responded with "I haven't got a clue about what I should pursue."

Though he didn't mind, he often felt like a side character in his sisters life, and it was reassuring to know he's made any impact, however small.
"Business management," Olivier said, closing another book. "This module is International Trade." And whilst it was really interesting, the amount of work he was doing for it was... Well, a lot was an understatement. "Would you like to sit?" As he spoke, he started tidying away some of his things to make room, before the second thought entered his mind, "If you want, if you're not... meeting someone or - I mean, you can just not want to." He let out the last in a bit of a rush, cheeks pinking at the fact he'd assumed she'd even want to.
It was a pleasant surprise that he remembered her name as well. Either he was good at memorizing names too, or perhaps Florrie or Misa had mentioned her before (or, of course, it could be both). It was something Ivy wondered about sometimes, what her friends and others might say about her when she wasn't around. An idle curiosity rather than a real concern. It was interesting to know what people thought about others, especially oneself.
Business management? It was not a program that she had considered among her options when she was applying to university, but that didn't mean it couldn't be an interesting field of study. And then he was inviting her to sit, though he seemed to be second guessing it immediately. Though she did have a couple of writing assignments to complete, the due dates were still a few days away, so Ivy saw no need to pass up an opportunity to talk with him. "I'd love to," she replied, her smile warm. "Thanks." She slipped into the seat across from him, setting her coffee cup down carefully so it wasn't too close to his books. With a quick nod toward them, she asked, "How are you enjoying it so far?"

"If that's how you're putting my wedding in your calendar, what would you do for your own?" he asked curiously. There had to be levels of excitement, in his opinion. Did Joana have even more levels of excitement?
It was excessive, she knew, but also more efficient than inputting text...especially when you assigned specific emojis to specific tasks and those always stayed on your recently used ones so it was just the flick of a thumb rather than hoping autofill remembered or needing to type the whole thing out. But, just to call a spade a spade, Joana thought they were cute and that was the real reason why she used them and also why she laughed at Gabriel's physical response to seeing them. That was another bonus.
Only in the next moment her face fell before she could collect herself and be professional about it. Like...way to hit a nerve so innocently, Gabriel. "...I...don't know..." she replied quickly, pocketing her phone and quickly returning her hands to her cup to warm her palms that had suddenly gone cold. "...I am not even sure marriage is something that I want," she admitted quietly, something she had only admitted to herself in the stillness and darkness that had been the nights down in Atlantis. It was...a whole thing and contributed to the whole feeling of suffocation from earlier. A topic she wanted to just keep playing ostrich with. She had see the way Jacob had reacted when she had rejected the idea of a promise ring years ago because he head could not wrap itself around such a commitment at 15 or 16, an object she still had not once slipped on to her finger to think about or really worn much at all. It remained kept safely on her dresser, out of sight but never entirely out of mind.

Aria wasn't popular by any means during their Hogwarts years but she had a small group of friends that she had and that was good enough for her. None of the guys at Hogwarts were ever interested in her, nor did she have any interest in the popular ones. She couldn't help but not to wonder what happened to the popular kids ag Hogwarts, did they make something out of them or were they working in a cafe flipping burgers. Some of them weren't very friendly so she'll like to thank karma for that.
Although she had crushes, they never went more then silly school girl crushes but now things were different.
Aria was still shy when it came to talking to boys, even through all the books she read she still was a blabbering mess. Even with Gabriel she was a blabbering mess, oh Merlin how did she change this about herself? People say she too bubbly and too much of a ray of sunshine, but she just tried to see the good in everything. It was to have a sense of familiarity around, it was good to talk to someone she knew.
Blushing more redder then she ever has before, she bit her lip fiddling more with her hands a habit she did when she was nervous or a blushing mess like she was now. She was afraid of looking at him now, but she had to get off her chest. "Gabe... I really liked you back at Hogwarts, I thought it was a silly school girl crush, but seeing you now it's coming back. I..I know you probably don't feel the same but had to tell you." Oh Merlin, she didn't know how this was going to go but now she wanted to run.
Aria didn't think so, she still didn't know what she wanted to do and was almost done with her yearly studies before the summer started. Biting her lip she nodded. [B]"That's a wonderful idea Gabe, that way I'll have both of them under my belt!" Looking at him she smiled softly at him. "Hey we still got time, we just graduated not to long ago."

Gabriel was not the bubbly ray of sunshine that Aria was. Much of that likely stemmed from him hiding in his turtle shell unless he was around people he was comfortable with. It was something that he was, slowly but surely, improving on. At the very least he could participate in basic conversation with just about anyone. Whether or not awkwardness would be present was a different matter.
Right now he was certainly feeling awkward. The colour of his face said it all. Of course, he was more embarrassed about himself rather than the words that were coming out of Aria's mouth. He was still trying to move past the whole a beard 'would hide too much of that cute face' thing. Was he cute? He hadn't heard anyone, beside his mother when he was much younger, say that about him.
"Uhh ..." The interjection was repeated multiple times in response to Aria's sudden revelation. Gabe's face, if it wasn't red before, was certainly red now. Again, the words Aria weren't embarrassing him. In fact, the fact that he had no clue how to respond to her was causing him to retreat into his turtle shell. "Sorry. ... Uhh ... No one's ever ... Uhh ... Thanks?"
Nods were given in response to the university talk. It was true, they were practically roaming through the halls of Hogwarts only a few months ago. There was time to figure out the rest of his life. If only the same could be said about not getting flustered when someone said they liked you.

It had been another day of wandering around London trying to decide what it was that Bowie was going to do with his life. On the one hand he had his passion, music. Although he knew that being in front of the limelight might not have been entirely his thing (mostly due to his personality not being suited to the cutthroat industry), being behind the scenes and producing was becoming more of his plan. The other idea was to give up on music entirely but then he’d be even more lost as to the direction his life would take him. His parents had always encouraged him to do whatever it was that made him happy but that wasn’t too hard for the man who always had a positive outlook on life and should he not pursue his passions, would likely throw himself into what work he was given.
It wasn’t like Bowie hadn’t indulged in the odd random job in between gigs. He’d worked in a music shop in Shoreditch for a few years whilst studying at WADA enabling him to rent his own tiny studio apartment in one of the artsy neighbourhoods of London. He’d also provided musical accompaniment to several artists over the years and worked as an assistant music producer at a Wrock music label. All of these jobs, amazing as they had been for experience, weren’t entirely taking him further up the career ladder and that tiny studio apartment was starting to feel a little cramped in between all the instruments and the collection of houseplants that had seemingly started taking over his lounge space.
Why his walk had taken him through Diagon Alley wasn’t entirely clear but alas here he was. He considered handing out CV’s but the twenty-seven year old hadn’t exactly made an effort to look presentable that morning and the colourful jumper full of holes, ripped jeans and the scruffy unshaven beard might have turned potential managers away. The local coffee shop came into view and the smell of a cappuccino was gravitating towards him. He pushed the door open and ordered himself an espresso to start before settling down on a seat at an empty table. He pulled his long blonde hair out of the way of his face up into a messy bun on his head and opened the copy of a newspaper a previous customer had obviously left behind.

One thing she had quickly learned upon starting her job at the Ministry was that the coffee on Level One hardly qualified as decent coffee. There was always the shop in the cafeteria, but Jemma occasionally had chosen to venture out for a cup instead. That was what had brought her to the Alley today, anyhow, with a quick glance at the delicate watch on her wrist to ensure she wouldn’t be gone too long. Media never rested and all, and she had to check in with her media liaisons soon enough to make sure things were all up to date. Especially with the World Cup ahead and all. There were any number of releases and such she expected would need to be drafted and sent out, not that she didn’t trust the G&S employees for that. A little double checking never hurt.
Either way, the twenty-seven-year-old brunette had developed a taste for the cappuccinos at the shop by now, and it was only after that getting a cup of such that she had turned to look for somewhere to sit and relax for a few minutes. And something had brought her over to the table the blond man was seated at. Probably the newspaper he was perusing. “Mind if I join you?”, she asked, the faint French lilt that had tinged her voice over the years she’d spent away having nearly faded away. It hadn’t seemed like it had been that long, but things like that were strange.

If Bowie was going to be totally honest with himself, there wasn’t much of interest in the Daily Prophet but it was there and it would give him something to do whilst he nursed his strong espresso. Perhaps there might have been a job advertisement that could be somewhat relevant although he doubted that as they all seemed to be desk jobs or ministry postings and he was quite sure that he would tire of those very quickly. Bowie was not made to sit behind a desk all day or engage in a mundane job. Sure, he was very good with people and had that friendly inviting nature but he was a creative and he didn’t like to sit still for too long. Which was ironic considering he had been sat still at the table for the past ten minutes only half paying attention to the newspaper.
That was until he heard a voice relatively near to him. Although he didn’t think the voice would be aimed at him as it was a relatively quiet day in the coffee shop and he wasn’t expecting anyone to be speaking to him, he looked up anyway to see a young woman of around his age directing the question to him. “Oh no, not at all” he smiled, scrambling to clear his coffee cup from the opposite side of the table to give her enough room. Bowie was not the tidiest of men, in fact he found it much easier to work in relative chaos than in a neat tidy environment where everything looked sterile and uninviting. His home environment was much the same, full of colour and second hand furniture that didn’t match but it made the twenty-seven year old happy and that was all that mattered.
He closed up the newspaper and set it to one side of the table. “Did you want to read this? I’m all finished.” That was probably the reason why she had joined him, wasn’t it? Although Bowie was extremely warm and welcoming in personality, his long hair, scruffy beard and questionable hippy fashion sense meant that a lot of the ‘professional’ types didn’t often give him the time of day.
Ash didn't really know how she felt right now. On the one hand, she was doing well. On the other hand, everything in her life was just awful and she was so lonely and she didn't like anything about herself. It sort of depended on the day whether she was cheery and social or whether she didn't want to get out of bed. It even depended on the hour sometimes.
That was why it was so hard to spend time with her close friend Evan. She just kept cancelling because she didn't feel like going out, or because she felt like he'd be better off if they weren't friends, or because some other reason. She hated that she did that. She'd apologized often.
But today was an okish day, and she really really pinky promised she'd be here and she came early and even sent a picture of her at the restaurant so Evan knew that she really meant it this time. And another sorry for the other times. She just hoped that he wouldn't give up on her... after all, she had a table for two at Espresso Patronum, and she really didn't want it to be another one of those times where a table for two turned into a table for Ashley and Nobody Else. She hated sitting with Nobody Else.

While Evan could not fully comprehend what Ashley was going through, merely because he was not in her shoes, he could appreciate the fact she was struggling but still trying to keep their friendship strong through it. Which meant a lot to him, but he also wanted to at some point find the right words to tell her she did not need to worry so much when it came to her friendship with him. He was not going anywhere, and after all they'd gone through at Hogwarts together, some canceled hang out appointments would not make him give up on her. And he'd make the plans as many times as she needed until they could connect.
Which seemed to be today. He got the text from her with a picture at the coffee shop included, and sent a text back that he was already on his way and she didn't need to be sorry. Life happened, and he wasn't at all upset with her. The only thing the canceled plans made him feel was concern, but he also didn't want to pressure her to talk about things if she wasn't ready. It had always been his approach to let others talk in their own time.
Which he really hoped didn't come across as lack of affection.
Reaching Espresso Patronum himself, the former Ravenclaw pushed upon the door and removed his sunglasses and glanced first towards the counter to see if Noah's friend was working, before than scanning the tables. Spotting his friend, he gave her a warm smile and headed her direction. "Hey Ash. Did you notice if Minjae is working today?" He remained standing for a moment to give a second to see if she wanted a hug, which was their usual greeting.
Ashley was getting antsy by the time Evan showed up. She knew he would always be there for her, and she knew he'd texted to show he was coming. But she couldn't quite believe it until he was standing in front of her. She thought it was reasonable to not take things for granted. However, she also thought that probably her mind was conspiring against her to make her upset and worry about things that weren't real, and she regarded the apparent reasonableness of her mindset with suspicion. But then again, she was protecting herself from being hurt by not believing people would show up for her. But then again, the mindset hurt her at least as bad as other people did, so there was really no point to it. She decide that she should stop worrying for at least five minutes until the agreed upon meeting time had arrived.
It was hard though. She distracted herself from the task by drawing flowers with her grey pencil on one of her sketchbooks. The sketchbook was from Evan, coincidentally. Maybe that was a sign that he was coming? Sure enough, Evan came, prompting a joyous look from Ashley on the other side of the room. "Evan!" She immediately stood up and gave him a big hug. "I've missed you so much. I'm so glad to see you." And yes, it was entirely her fault that they hadn't seen each other in a while, but she was still allowed to miss him. "I don't think Minjae's here right now. But I wish he was! Maybe I'll look for him this week." Minjae was like her big brother, and she was always glad to see him. "Cool sunglasses, by the way. Very stylish." It was tragic that sitting indoors did not require sunglasses.
Ashley smiled a big smile, the kind that could only happen when she was suddenly very sure of herself and the idea that everything was going to be okay. "How are you?" She very much hoped he was doing well. Nobody deserved it more.

He'd noticed the familiarity of the notebook as he'd approached, a small smile playing at his lips - pleased to see one of the previous gifts he'd given her was being enjoyed. It also occurred to him for a moment that he was fairly certain every gift he gifted was something that could have been picked up at Scribbulus which told him he was probably more obsessed with that place than he'd realized. He briefly considered if it might be wise to apply for a job, but then determined instead that if he was going to work while he did school he was probably best off at the ministry. He'd have to consider that later once he started his classes.
Hearing his name and seeing her stand, he returned the hug giving her a soft squeeze before letting her go. "I've missed you too." He didn't blame her at all for the fact they hadn't seen each other in some time. He knew she'd been trying, but he also knew she had a lot on her plate and that was okay. He'd been able to catch glimpses anyways too at her art shows. "I'm sure he'd like to see you." Minjae hadn't been someone Evan had ever known well, but he knew how much affection people who he cared about had for the older Yoon so he figured he was a good guy. And he knew Daniel too, who despite being maybe curt at times was also a nice guy. He glanced at the sunglasses now in his hand, giving a small chuckle. "Thank you. Necessity more than anything. After being on the water for months, I don't think I'd go anywhere without them." The sea truly was blinding.
The smile was good to see and it made his widen a bit as well as he took a seat. "I'm doing okay. Signed up for classes next semester, living with my parents again for the time being." Not his favorite bit, the last part, but it made sense especially considering he'd been living off of their money during his travels. He'd have to continue to do so until he got a job and saved enough to get his own place. "Been going back and forth to Japan a lot too to see Noah." The brotherly time was nice and he was likewise looking forward to seeing Maya more now that she would also not be confined to school. He just hoped Lisa was okay for her last year alone. "How are you doing?"
