Jaeke finally stared in Teresa's direction, narrowing his eyes. He glanced away finally, then sighed. "I believe you," he said to Teresa, before nodding at Roslyn. "..It could be," he said, scanning again. He stopped, then stared at Roslyn again. "It's important because we need it to open this **** book!" He couldn't help but snap. Hey. Stress was on his shoulders.

"You know you are a wizard...why not summon it?" Ryan said.

Jaeke blinked, then gazed at Ryan. "..You're a genius!" He suddenly shouted, forgetting that he hated him, before fumbling in his bags again. He took out his wand - which looked oddly different, before holding it up. He mumbled something that sounded like, "accio necklace" then waited. And waited. And waited. He tried a couple more times, before frowning deeply. "Wha-?" he asked himself, shaking the wand. "Work, ******!" He cursed, before inspecting the wand closer. "..Either we can't use our magic and our wands turned to regular 'ole sticks... or both."

"Hey, don't snap at me! I'm just trying to help." Roslyn sniped back at Jaeke. They were all worried and stressed, but they would fall apart if they turned on each other.

She saw Jaeke's wand, which didn't look like a usual wand, but she assumed it normal to him. When it didn't work, she immediately took hers out. She noticed hers had changed as well. Roslyn attempted a small banishing charm on a piece of wood but it didn't move. "Hang on, that is not right,"

"Hang on, I'll try" he said, getting out his wand. "Accio necklace!" But nothing happened. "Great...just great. We're stuck in Egypt, with no magic, and plagues aplenty. How can this get better!"

In normal circunstances Teresa would have made fun of what Ryan had just said but she was not in the mood to do it, besides she wouldn't think of doing such thing when they were facing something like that. She hoped that in the end they'd be laughing together of how pathetic they were. She took her wand out of her pocket and tried to do a simple spell of levitation on a little rock near her but it didn't work either. 'Mas que raio?' She said out loud forgetting that the rest of them were not from her country as she looked from her wand, the wand that she had used all her life and that had always worked, to the rock. She gulped.

ooc: she was saying 'what the heck' or something like that...

Samantha had remained quiet, still shocked at Kamilah's attitude. She was just trying to help and she had the nerve to say that she was a bit above a peasant. She was still fuming when everyone began inspecting their wands. Pulling her own wand out, she attempted a simple spell. She looked up, her face reflecting confusion. "What in the world is going on?" she muttered.

'I have no clue at all' Teresa gulped and looked at Samantha still with her wand on her hand. 'Maybe...' She started but never finished the sentence. There had to be an reason why that was happening.

"Well perhaps there's so much magic in the air from the plagues and the book and all that, that it's shorting out our wands. Just a theory" Ryan said.

Lori frowned as she turned her back at Jaeke. She was showing some genuine concern, and he couldn't at least have shown a little gratitude. She sighed and folded her arms. She knew he was impossible to reason with, but she always loved a challenge.

She looked at the others and noticed some malfunction. She fimbled with her own wand and tested it, yet nothing happened. She glanced at Ryan and said, "Maybe...just maybe, you're right. As I remember in one of my History classes, the Ten Plagues thingy caused every from of magic except tricks, which the Pharaoh's magicians performed, to be shorted, including wands."

She sighed. What would eventually happen? There was so much going on. Plus, the fact that Jaeke was a first born from Egypt scared her. If 5 of the 10 did indeed hapen, then there was a 98% chance that Jaeke could be...well...dead.

'So maybe we can do some things. But what?' Teresa said. She looked around and bit her lip like if that way magic would appear again out of nothing. She couldn't let Jaeke die, and if she had no magic then there was no way she could prevent it. She hoped that it wasn't the Ten Plagues, that they were all wrong, that it was something else but she knew that it was indeed the Plagues.

Jaeke was still scanning around - still trying to find his necklace. ".. It has to be here somewhere," he mumbled, looking confused. "Necklaces just don't get up and walk away."

He paused, moving out of the way as frogs hopped past, then stared in the direction the frogs were coming from. He didn't say anything, only walked on the side so he wasn't stepping on the frogs, and followed the path.

It took about ten minutes, as Jaeke finally slowed to a stop, where hundreds of frogs were hopping past, piled up. He narrowed his eyes, as he lifted his face to where the frogs were coming from. The.. Nile River? He dropped his mouth open, as he caught sight of it. It was the redest he has ever seen - blood red.

"Do you mean there's like some kind of energy field that's preventing us from using magic?" Samantha asked. Okay, now she was freaking out. What were they going to do if it indeed was the Ten Plagues? It certainly was an option, thanks to the red water and now the frogs.

Noticing Jaeke begin to wander off, she quietly slipped away from the group who were talking amongst themselves. Side-stepping the frogs, she followed him, wondering where he was going. As she continued to walk, she came to a dead stop when she caught sight of the river. "Oh!" She strolled up to Jaeke. "The rest can't deny it now. We are definitely in big trouble."

Kamilah, noticing all the frogs at her feet felt a jolt in her stomach. Her earlier words echoed in her head 'you cant let it get to the tenth plague, Jaeke, you're a firstborn,' she reeled, 'you'll die' she had been about to say before she caught sick. Another wave of nausea swept over her. She grabbed onto Seth to steady herself. Her brother, her dearest older brother, Khafra. He was her only sibling, and he was her world. She couldn't let him die because of some stupid treasure hunt. She ran from Seth towards Jaeke. She took hold of his arm and spun him round.
"You've got to stop...oh my God..." her arm dropped limply to her side as she took in the sight before her, the blood red river, the frogs. Her eyes welled up but she held it back. Kamilah Auset didn't cry in public.
"Stop it Jeake, you'll die, Khafra will die!" She turned back to him, and stared at his bared chest for a moment before shrieking in horror.
"The necklace! What the **** did you do with the necklace - you...you fool!" she raised a hand to her forehead. "Tell me you didn't lose it." she demanded through gritted teeth.

Jaeke glanced at Samantha, then suddenly was staring at Kamilah. How dare she turn him around? "Let go of me!" he said roughly, jerking back from her. He stared at her for a moment, then flicking his gaze away, avoiding her glare. "If I die, then so does Khafra," he said suddenly, raising his gaze again so he stared defensively into her eyes. "Don't think I want to die, Kamilah, so of course I'll do anything to stop it."

He paused, when she suddenly went hysterical, ranting about his necklace. He stared dully at her, before lifting both shoulders up halfway and bringing them down again. "I guess I did lose it. It doesn't matter anyway."

Samantha stared as Kamilah began to berate Jaeke. Of course he didn't have the necklace. He already told them that. She then realized what Kamilah was saying. The last plague..the death of the firstborns. This is started when Jaeke read from the book. "Wait." she said slowly. "It does matter, Jaeke. We have to find that necklace. It's the key to stop this!"

Kamilah glared at Jaeke as hot tears stung her eyes.
"She's right Jake," she spat, jerking her head in Samantha's direction. "We have to find it, unless you have any other bright ideas? Hmm, how about we try making a new key, the gods aren't going to be fussed if we replace a three thousand year old key are they?"
She turned her back on him. she couldnt bear to look at him just then, and the stench of dead fish was making her wretch. She snorted.
"Of course you don't want to die. Whatever about Khafra, as long as Jaeke isn't hurt, htey rest of us can all go junp off a bridge for all he cares."

"How do we know it's a key to stop it? We never knew this could happen, yet it did," he challenged Sam, glowering at her. He flicked his gaze to Kamilah, his face hardening. "I didn't say that!" he snapped at her, narrowing his eyes. "Okay. I did. But I meant that.." he trailed off, throwing his hands up in frustration.

"You ALWAYS do this Kamilah! You twist my words! You have a way to make me go berserk.. to hit a nerve. Well STOP IT! I hate you, and your family, and I don't know why you're stalking me, but quit it!" He suddenly blew up at her, his eyes getting a weird change in them, as he stared at her, breathing hard.

Teresa started hearing shouts coming from the river. She looked around and saw Jaeke shouting at Kamilah. What had that girl done this time? Couldn't she keep her mouth shut when there was nothing to say instead of making people get even more nervous? She walked to the others. 'Calm down' She asked them. 'This isn't going to solve anything, anything at all!' She looked at the river and gulped. This was not a good thing. She looked at Samantha worried and then back at the river and the frogs. She hoped it was a coincidence, though she knew it was not.

Kamilah barely noticed Teresa's presence. She was too incensed. She felt like she'd been slapped in the face. How dare he?
"You and I are cut from the same cloth Jaeke Mosca, we are beings of the same strange world, set apart from everyone else, not by choice, by birth. We're one in the same." she snarled.
She took a deep breath, how on earth had she landed here, in this situation, saying these things? It was all so surreal.
"You look at me, and see yourself. That's why you hate me." she laughed in spite of herself.
"Don't delude yourself into thinking I'm here because of some secret obsession with you. I have enough stalkers of my own to contend with without becoming one."
She looked Jaeke up and down, shaking her head.
"I'm here for the same reasons as you - to escape from them, and you know it."
She turned and walked away praying no one would notice her red eyes. SHe had gone no more than 20 feet when she turned quickly, and without warning, slapped Jaeke hard across the face.
"Don't you ever insult me or my family again. You had better start sharing your secrets with the rest of us, Jaeke, or else your life wont be worth living. Ha! You wont live!"
This time she turned and ran as she could no longer hold back the tears. Once she was certain she was out of Jaeke's sight completely alone she leaned up against a wall and slid to the ground. She covered her face with her hands, and wept silently.

Jaeke was already shouting back, before Kamilah left. "Me insulting your family? Pfft. Please. All I said was they stole from my family, and you know it. Stop denying it." He paused, then added, "You really want me to insult them? How about no-good-dirty-rotten thieves that have nothing better to do than send their daughter away to stalk ME." He stopped again, and that was when Kamilah slapped him. He stood there, in complete shcok, as he stared back at her. Why do girls keep smacking me?! he thought to himself, before raising his hand to his cheek. First his eye, now his cheek.. both cheeks, since Teresa already smacked the other one. He raised his voice more, almost in hysteria, then screeched, "DON'T FORGET, KAMI, YOUR BROTHER DIES TOO!"

With that, he whirled around and bolted off the opposite way of Kamilah, going around a corner and disappearing from site - where he only hid in a doorway of a house.

Samantha groaned. Unbelievable she thought. She glanced at Teresa. "Do you want to talk to Jaeke and I'll talk to Kamilah?" she asked. "They have got to stop this ridiculous fighting or we'll never get anywhere." She looked down in distaste at the frogs surrounding them and then looked up, awaiting Teresa's response.

Seth shook his head at the quarrelling pair.

"Children!" He exclaimed chidingly. He turned to Sam and Teresa. "If you guys want to go and try to talk some sense into those two I'll try and get everyone else somewhere safe then come and get you guys."

Teresa nodded at Samantha. It was better to talk with Jaeke since Kamilah was not the kind of person she liked at all. 'We'd better do that alright' She said almost in a whisper and sighed as she glanced at the floor. 'Really, I think these two will drive me insane' She said.

Samantha gave Teresa a small smile. "Well, we can't have that so we'll try to talk some sense into them." She nodded as Seth spoke. "That sounds fine to me." She set off looking around. Kamilah couldn't have gotten far. As she rounded a corner she spotted her slumped against a wall. Quietly approaching her, she sat down. "Kamilha?"
