It was the middle of the year, in the newly opened and magical international school, and a group of picked students were offered the chance - the chance of a lifetime, mind I add - to go to Egypt to study for a semester. The students agree to the "study abroad" and were immediately packed and whisked away to Egypt.

They arrived in the newly renovated town - a town that was built on the ancient city of Hamunpatra, or, as you may know it, the city of the Dead. The students are psyched to get started exploring the tombs, and they instantly get to work.

However, during a sandstorm, a tomb was uncovered. The Tomb of Anubis. People thought Anubis was a god, but in fact, they didn’t know he actually walked on the earth, once, many thousands of years before.

The group of students eagerly enter the tomb, excited that they found what they thought was a tomb that never existed, they set to work, exploring the many rooms of the maze of the tomb.

They soon find, however, a book of hieroglyphics, which fortunately, one of the students could translate. What did the student translate? Why, "The Book of the Dead".

The students go back to the inn they were staying at, talking about what happened that day, vowing they wouldn’t tell anyone what they found unless they were certain it was the God’s tomb. They all agreed happily, then continued their conversation.

But for the next few days, odd things were happening. The students find out that they can’t use magic anymore, and horrible things kept happening to the locals. In a desperate attempt to find out what was happening, one of the students did some research, and came up with a theory. The Ten Plagues of Egypt were happening all over again, and there was another ancient book that was connected with "The Book of the Dead" called, "The Book of the Living," They find out that the Book of the Dead gives the dead life, while the Book of the Living takes life away.

Now, the students must figure how to stop the Ten Plagues and the killings, and figure out how to get their hands on the Book of the Living, to try and save all of Egypt.

Kamilah searched his face, he was keeping something from her, but his face revealed nothing. It was too early in the game to push him, she decided.
"The joining of two of the most powerful and influential families of Cairo. Looking back on it, they were only in it for the money. They didn't care what we thought. I swear I'm not getting married for at least another six or eight years, maybe even ten." she laughed. "If they'd had their way, we would have been married by 14!"
She sighed. She didn't mind Jaeke really, and back then, she would have thought it a fine thing to marry him, but she had grown up a bit, she realised what folly it would have been. They, neither of them were ready then. Maybe it was a good thing they had seperated, who knew?
"I wonder what they'd say if they saw us now, shocked I think. They wouldn't view so suitable a match now, I don't think"

"14. Yeah.." Jaeke sighed. "And what? Children at 15?" He shook his head, grinning. "If I were to marry you, you would become my Pharohess. Yes," he said, mainly to himself. He went silent, as he listened to her. He suddenly got this look on his face - the look between having a brilliant idea and downright stupidity. "..Why not wonder of what they'll think when they see us? My father.. he still lives here. Cairo isn't too far away. We need a place to stay, and once he sees his 'son back from the dead' he'll be too creeped out to refuse!" He was ranting, yes. He knew it. So? "He swore he thought I died. I'll prove him wrong.." he trailed off, then looked at Kamilah. "Plus. We need to figure out about this Ten Plagues," he added, then, with a cheeky grin and taking off towards the others, he yelled, "I bet you'd be heartbroken to see me die, love!"

Kamilah stared, then burst out laughing. The pure cheek of him! She'd have to put him in his place, it was the only way...
"It would be tragic," she called out in reply, running to catch up. "Can you imagine all the bother of having to explain to everyone how you actually hadn't died before, about now you have really, and all those arangements would have to be made...I'd have no social life for about a week! Truly horrific."

Lori sighed and sat beside Sam and Teresa. So, here they were again, the three of them sitting there, and two of them practically goggling at Jaeke. She clasped her hands together and said to Sam, "So, you think we'll ever solve this? I mean, this is really happening, and Jaeke won't even listen. All he cares about is his **** necklace!"

She shook her head and sighed deeply. There were feelings in her she couldn't understand. She liked Seth and Jaeke at the same time, but they were both strangers to her. She couldn't even talk to Jaeke without picking a fight, and she couldn't well talk to Seth! She watched Jaeke and Kamilah talk,and simply stayed wehre she was.

Samantha looked up as Lori approached them. Turning slightly so that she was facing Lori, she said. "That's the thing. The necklace opened the book, so it's some sort of key. It could be the key to how we're going to survive this. Here's what I was thinking. Okay, there's the Book of the Dead. Well, there's also the Book of the Living, so do you think that if we read from the Book of the Living, we could stop this?" She bit her lip, not sure of her idea, but hey, at least she was trying to rationally think through this.

Lori scratched her chin gently and pondered. "That's it, I remember now..." she said, more to herself than to Sam. "Sam, of course, I think I've read somewhere before that the Book of the Living can indeed defeat the Bok of the Dead and it's bearer, but..." she said, then she trailed off. She knew it would be difficult.

"But...the thing is, Jaeke has the neckalce that can open the Book of the Dead, and the only one who can close it is the person who has the necklace of the Book of the Living....and I have a crazy feeling Kamilah has it." she said in a dismayed tone.

Samantha blinked. "You know, I think you're right. But if she has the necklace, then we need to find the Book of the Living and maybe we can stop all this craziness." She gave an involuntary shudder. She hated to think of what would happen if they got through all of the plagues. She paused. "Wait a minute, did you just say the book can defeat the Book of the Dead and its bearer? What is that supposed to mean?"

Lori blinked and bit her lip, with a solemn look on her face. She sighed and said, "Well, I'm not too certain, but I seem to recall that if the bearer of the Book of the Living is able to defeat the bearer of the Book of the Dead and the book itself, the bearer will...perish...die..."

She looked away as tears stung her eyes. Why did stupid Jaeke have to be the bearer of the necklace of the evil book? Why didn't he have the good book instead? She sighed and shook her head. It was sort of becoming a habit.

Samantha blinked again in disbelief. That was becoming an annoying habit. "I really hope that you aren't right." she whispered. "That can't be true...he can't die...none of us will die." she finished firmly, wishing that she believed it.

She took a deep breath and continued. "Well, then we're in big trouble if that is true because either we find the book, read it, and wait to see what will happen, or we wait for the plagues to take its course and..." she couldn't bear to finish. She closed her eyes, and gritted her teeth. There was no way she would let that happen.

Lori choked with tears and said firmly, "I know, Sam. I know..." She let a few tears fall and wiped them away fast.

"Jaeke will die anyway," she added bravely, though her voice was very shaky, "Either he'll die coz of the Book of the Dead, or coz he's a first born Egyptian, which the 10th plague will kill."

She put her feet up and wrapped her arms around them. She was now scared for Jaeke, and he just looked so happy. She knew she'd better not tell him, but knowing him, he'd be smart enough to figure it out o his own. She sughed and shook her head once more...

"There is a way to get around the Angel of Death. We simply stay in a lodging with ram's blood painted across the top of the door frame. Saved the Jews, might save us. Unless it only works if you have true faith in God...." he said.

Lori looked at Ryan with bloddshot eyes. He was half right. It could save them, but not all of them. "Yeah, but that only for the Jews. It never really worked for the Egyptians." she said thickly. She inhaled deeply and closed her eyes. There had to be some way to save Jaeke.

"It never worked for the Egyptians since none of them tried to do it. They had no faith. But, if we do it, and considering there a less Egyptians and more people from different countries, it may just pass on by" Ryan said.

Teresa felt the tears coming to her eyes when Lori said that Jaeke was going to die either way. He couldn't die! When he heard Ryan, she got up looked at him and smiled. 'You're a genius!' She said hugging him and then letting him go. 'I am a Christian, so, maybe we can actually defeat this thingy!' She couldn't handle the joy that had came over her in that moment.

Samantha nodded. "You know that could work." she said slowly and then jumped at Teresa's outburst, laughing. It felt good to laugh. She couldn't remember the last time she had done so on this trip. "Well, what are we waiting for, let's go find Jaeke and Kamilah and tell them our idea."

Jaeke stared oddly at Kamilah while they were running, then stuck his tongue out and shouted in a loud voice, "Oh shut up and kiss me, dah-ling!" With that, he lunged at her, making kissing noises at her.

They arrived at where everyone else was, and Jaeke - not looking where he was going for he was mock-kissing Kamilah - slammed into the door. He rebounded off, then got to his feet right away. With the impact, the door opened, and Jaeke stared at everyone. "..Tell me what?" He asked, moving away from Kamilah.

Samantha looked up, startled when she heard a loud bang. "Jaeke, you might want to look where you're going." she said, a smile tugging at her lips. "Okay, we were talking and hypothesizing about what we could do to stop this. We have the Book of the Dead and that's what caused this whole thing, so can't the Book of the Living stop this?" She left it at that and didn't say anything about the death of the bearer of the book.

Lori sighed and said, "Maybe you're right, but I hope Jaeke and Kamilah are up for trying," She grinned hopefully and laughed along with Sam.

As they got to Jaeke, she tried very hard indeed to stiffle her giggles. She half-wished she was the door he had slammed into. She giggled to herself and walked closer.

As she heard Sam, she immediately slipped over to her and whispered, "No Sam! Remember, yuo shouldn't break it to him. He has to find out on his own."

Jaeke narrowed his eyes, as he stared at Sam. "The Book of the Living?" He repeated, then snorted. "How do you know theres a such thing? I never even heard of the Book of the Dead before, yet we found it completely by mistake.." He trailed off, then added, "And the Ten Plagues have nothing to do with this book. Don't you know? Moses. Maybe it was um.. what's he called.. God? Yeah. Maybe it was 'God' who did this all over again. How are we certain it's the Book? It's just a stupid book.." Jaeke folded his arms across his chest, back to his sullen self. He didn't believe in God - nor did his family. They believed in the Egyptain Gods, like Isis.

"Plus," he added. "We're going to Cairo. It's not far from here."

Samantha stared back at Jaeke. "It was just a suggestion." she snapped. "I don't know about Kamilah, but it seems that most of us believe that there could be a connection. Also, if you never heard about the Book of the Dead before, how did you recognize it when you found it? Oh, and the Ten Plagues are just a coincidence, huh? The fact that they all started after you read from the book means absolutely nothing to you?"

'No-one said that Jaeke' Teresa said. 'If this is happening it's for a reason. Now, are we going to stay here discussing the nature of all this or try to stop it for once?' She asked and crossed her arms.

Jaeke, knowing he was caught in a lie, didn't let on. He scowled at Sam, then shot back, "I read it on the front, idiot." He pulled out the book, then ran his fingers across the gold-plated symbols. "If you forgot, I can read heiroglyphics. And these are heiroglyphics. And what do they say? Why, 'The Book of the Dead'. A mircle, isn't it?" He said sarcastically, dropping the book on the ground in frustration. He ignored Teresa, only turning her to say, "How are we going to stop it?"

Seth paced the room inside the abandoned house.

"Where are they?" He muttered to himself. Half the group hadn't come with him and he didn't have a clue were the quarrelling couple were, or Sam and Teresa!

Teresa kept calm even though she wanted to shout at him for acting that way when just a few minutes ago she had told him to act in a different way, with 'yes' as an answer. 'That was what I was saying we need to find out together' She told him like if nothing had happened. The said the last word in a different way, to make him remember what she had told him before.

Roslyn watched Seth pace for a few minutes before she spoke.

"Why don't we give them 10 more minutes and if they haven't arrived we go look for them?" She suggested. She was beginning to worry about the others too. Surely, it did not take long to try and persuade Jaeke and Kamilah to come to the house.
