Default The Tower Patch

Atop the north tower, a hop and a skip away from the Astronomy classroom, one will find the Tower Patch which offers a breathtaking blend of nature and history. Surrounded by weathered stone walls, lush green hedges and flower beds line the perimeter of the area and a large fountain greets you towards the opposite end. Located to the left of the fountain is a stone plaque engraved with words from former Headmistress Truebridge herself which reads :
Quote:
Rest in peace old friend, beloved wife, renowned stargazer, and special professor. Always in our hearts.
Beside this plaque lays another plaque placed in memory of another professor who gave their life while in service to Hogwarts. The plaque reads :
Quote:
In Memory of E.M. Forrester, a brilliant space scientist, educator, and Slytherin Head of House. He will be missed.
The garden is dotted with statues of famous astronomers, their stone forms gazing upward toward the stars they studied and the distant future they could not yet see but hoped to inspire.

Comfy benches and tables are scattered throughout the patch for students and professor alike to lounge, read a book, complete homework tasks, and just generally hang out. Positioned at each of the four corners of the Tower Patch are topiary depicting each of the four house's mascots crafted by Hogwarts students themselves - a lion, an eagle, a badger and a snake- that have been proven sturdy enough to climb upon.

OOC: for more information on the events that took place in this thread, please read Term 32 of Hogwarts, a History & What in Merlin's Beard Term 32. For information on Professor Forrester please read here. For more information on the topiary look here.

Diamond adjusted her posture on the bench nestled between a hedgerow of blooming lavender and a stone bust of Galilei, who looked mildly disapproving as always but boring dead men were always looking for an excuse to be so anyway. At least the statues here did not speak and it was free of owl feces, so the ugly stone bust could go suck a lemon. Then there was the eagle topiary in the distance which was currently wearing her orange scarf that blown loose during the Gryffindor's arrival and now fluttering dramatically from its clipped beak. She had tried to pull it free, but to no avail as the stupid bunch of leaves seemed to just tightened its hold, and would simply deal with it later once she was ready to leave. She had more interesting to focus on at the moment than bickering with a bunch of sticks.

Diamond dipped her quill again, brows furrowed in the way they only ever were when she was composing something deliciously dangerous.

Quote:
Tristan 💋

Do try not to faint while reading this, handsome. I’d hate to be responsible for a swoon-related injury. That being said—should you find your heart racing or your breath catching, I’ll consider that a personal success.
She paused, tapping the feather tip of her quill against her lips, and then grinned at the image of him being all wiggly at her words. There was something deeply entertaining about watching him squirm under her attention, even if she suspected he liked it more than he let on. If only she could be a fly on the wall when he received this letter aaaaaaaaaand its accompanying present.

At her side, her satchel lay open, revealing a small stack of photos she’d taken and sneakily enchanted earlier that week. There was one of her perched on the windowsill in her dorm. Another where she lay in the grass of the courtyard with sunglasses too big for her face and her hair splayed out like a crown. And a third (her favorite) snapped in the mirror, her expression relaxed and just a touch mysterious. Her blouse was slightly open at the collar, nothing scandalous, but enough to hint at confidence and an implication heavy as velvet. "Would three be overkill ooooooooooor..." She held them up one by one, inspecting them critically. She smirked. "Duh, obviously not."

She flipped over one of the photos and scribbled an exceptionally swirly 'wish you were heeeeeeeere' on the back and then fan the air with it to expedite the ink drying.
