| | | Pets 'n Plants Café {Pets 'n Plants Café} Tucked away in a corner behind the Shared Conference Room and right at the entrance of Level 4, you'll find a door leading you to one of the newest hang-out spots that the Ministry of Magic has to offer. If you wander inside, you'll see that what used to be a storage room has since been transformed into a hip café, complete with all the regular bells and whistles: square tables, comfortable chairs, & coffee-shop chatter. While there isn't a counter to order yourself a drink, there's an espresso machine, an assortment of teas, and a kettle filled with hot water along the back wall. You're encouraged to bring your own food and drink, but are asked to stay away from one-time use, plastic crockery (unless you want an Environment Employee hunting you down).
Did someone just touch your leg or are you imagining things?
It may be worthwhile to mention that this isn't just any café. This is a creature and plant adoption café! Small, rescued creatures (crups, kneazles, you name it!) who are in need of a loving home are walking around, curling up around your feet, and asking you for a nibble to eat! Please treat the creatures with care and be sure to give them some of your love and affection. If you find one you like, stop by one of the Level 4 Department Heads' offices to fill out the paperwork and make a furever friend. Not a pet person? Not a problem. There are plenty of plants hanging around too. Feel free to take one, or two, or however many you can hold! The procedure is the same for both creatures and plants alike!
Oh, and cheers! |

| 4 kimmy you wanna fite? | 💚 nickleback 💚 | Uh, anyway. Would you be surprised to know that Aslan Evans loved cats?
She did. she loved them, respected them, revered and connected with them, but she had never really owned one - except for a cat she'd shared with June Nixon, but that was a different aslan, another world aslan - and that was not going to change for a little time more.
The pets-n-plants cafe was a welcome comfort of gold, green and harmonious blush. Soothing to her aching mind, and aching feet.
the brush of a kneazle's face against her leg, the purr of sweet-tempered tabby.. it melted away the veil, the whispers of the day and her own, more mortal worries of whether or not Angelo would accept shoes into his life.
Aslan absent-mindedly hummed, raising a cup of red, red tea to her lips and taking a long sip.

Aslan absent-mindedly hummed, raising a cup of red, red tea to her lips and taking a long sip. Drewett always liked being ahead of schedule. He had been working nonstop in an "exposé" video on how many photos of the Loch Ness Monster were fakes. Not that the creature itself wasn't real—it certainly was not mythological in the wizarding world—but the muggles have to believe that they were doctored images. He didn't even know how to the art of video-making worked, but it had been an interesting experience thus far at the ministry. But it's only been a week or so, he was still always on his toes.
By lunch time, the Ravenclaw had already achieved more than half of his personal work checklist for the day and he was quite pleased about it. Nothing felt better than knowing he was productive. This internship was faring well on a positive note so far. Drewett had also heard from chatter around him (he never meant to eavesdropping, but he had mentally filed it under crucial information) about the quaint pets n' plants café just a floor lower than theirs at Accidents and Catastrophes, and he figured he could use a change in scenario so he was here during his hour break.
And the first thing he noticed, the moment he entered, was a bushy little tail curling around his leg, sending a tingling sensation upwards his limbs. Drewett twitched slightly at the contact and looked down to see a small kneazle looking up at him. Eyes emoji. Uhm, hi. Uh. Hi. Heh. Awkward.

He decided to fix himself a cappuccino.. while he felt a ball of fluff nuzzle against one of his legs. Rebecca had quickly gotten back into the work routine after the holidays, spending more time out on assgnment than at the office filling in the required paperwork. Her breaks we're usually had on the fly or when the opportunity arose in a day. Becca couldn't say when they we're in the middle of relocating an extra fiesty boggart or other spirit that bye guy's see you in 30 i'm going on a break. You didn't do that to your team buddies. It wasn't right. Today Becca had a day in at the office and didn't need to go out on assignment unless an emergency arised that needed all hands on deck.
Leaving her office on level 7 Becca wandered up to the 4 floor where she knew that they had a cute little cafe with furry and planty companions. The tea and coffee on hand was fairley decent too. Pushing some brown locks of hair out of her face on her way inside Becca was surprised to see Darej of all people standing by the cappucino machince. She stopped to pat and stroke a kneazle a little extra before she made her way to her colleague with a smile pursing her lips. "Hi Darej, how are things? Are you on your break too?"

| Open! Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... Just needing a moment Victoria decided to head into the pet cafe. She had mentioned to Charles about getting a new dog, but maybe she shouldn't just think about dogs, maybe she could get a nice kneazle or something. Finding a quiet table in a corner she set some of her work on the table and grabbed some food and coffee.
It wasn't long before she did feel something on her leg and looked down to find the cutest kneazle rubbing around her. The girls would probably like the feline around the house when they came home, but was this the type of pet she wanted?
Looking around the cafe at the different creatures wandering around she couldn't help but keep every option open.

Plants were an important part of the name because that's what he was here for... some new plants to help get rid of the smell of burned down desks and out of control memos that lingered on his floor. | Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... She had still been looking around the room when she felt the rubbing on her leg again. When she looked down the same kneazle was trying for her attention again. Reaching down and giving it a head scratch she decided it was time to get some work done, but as she opened the first of the files a voice took her attention. "No, he isn't mine, are you interested in him?" He was fluffy and sweet, but Victoria still wasn't sure she wanted one, but the thought of this one maybe going home with someone else made her a bit sad too. Had the kneazle picked her and got her to fall for it without her realizing, it was seeming that way. "Are you looking for a certain creature?" Plants hadn't even crossed her mind as a reason people came in, the pets were more her focus.

"Absolutely n---" Fletcher started to reply, eyeing the kneazle with some suspicion as he settled down at a table beside it with a large cactus for a centerpiece. Hmm. Weren't kneazles like guard cats or something? Was this one going to attack him if he said something about it? "I mean no offense to your cat," which received a respectful nod from the junior undersecretary, "but I'm more of a dog person."
The best pet he'd ever had had been a niffler, though. They'd had so much in common. Such a good boy. Fletcher sighed at the memory and reached out to admire the pot on his cactus. "Anyway, I'm here for a plant. Know anything about those? Can we just take any one of 'em?" If so, he should have brought up a cart from level one and loaded it up!

"He is not my cat so no offense taken." He wasn't yet at least. She pulled the feline up on her lap and he seemed to like her enough, she wasn't really ever sure how to read cats, which was why she never got them. This one, however, seemed to feel the same about her as he jumped to the floor, but stayed near her. "I've personally always had dogs myself, but I wanted to keep my mind open as I came in today. There are a few cute crups over there." She pointed to the little play area that the crups were in at the moment. They were cute, but if she was getting a dog, she figured she would go for a lab or maybe something else of that size.
Taking a sip of her coffee she reached down and pet the kneazle again, alright maybe this was going to be hers, but she would see what the girls and even maybe Charles thought first.
Her attention back on the man next to her she thought a moment, "I do not have a green thumb, so plants tend to run when I come near. Though, I think if you are wanting one there is a form near the counter to fill out. I haven't actually adopted anything here, so I might be wrong." She enjoyed coming in for visits during coffee breaks and the thought of adopting was always there, but she could easily talk herself out of it.

"Well, my girlfriend likes dogs, so I guess I do too." He looked to where she was pointing and couldn't help but smile at the sight of the crups all yipping and tumbling and licking each other. "They are pretty cute." And maybe one day he'd bring his son in and they could pick one out together.
But not today.
Fletcher chuckled at the lady and considered grabbing a form from near the counter, but then again, maybe he'd just come back later and get it. "Cool, thanks," he replied anyway, and then got up again to go check out another plant. Maybe he'd just collect all the ones he wanted for Level One on this table and then he could fill out a form...
He touched the trailing, funky leaves of the hanging basket he found himself beside. "I don't know which floor you work on, ma'am," but he was guessing it wasn't this one! Har har. "But if this were hanging in your office, would it make you feel... happier?" Was this a good plant? He needed a second opinion.

His comment made her laugh, if his girlfriend was the reason he liked them, did he really like them or was he pretending? Pretending wasn't a great way for a relationship, which made her really need to speak to Charles about the Kneazle before going forward. If he didn't like cats it could be the deciding factor since she was so on the fence, though if she sat here any longer this kneazle would be going home with her.
She glanced down at him once more and found herself trying to figure out what his name could be or were they already named? She'd have to figure that one out as well. After his thanks, she figured he was going to be off on his own, so she opened her files to get started.
Hearing his voice she lifted her eyes once more to look at the hanging basket he was speaking of. "Oh, how rude of me. I am the department head in Games and Sports, Victoria Culloden." She wondered if she should change her last name back, but it was just too much effort at this point. "It depends on who is taking care of it. If someone else was, yes I would think it is a pretty addition to my office, but if I was taking care of it myself, I would be stressed about killing it." Hence her saying she wasn't much of a green thumb.

Fletcher drifted away from the next plant he was inspecting (it had an ant on it, which made it instantly unappealing) and back to Victoria's table, where he offered her a hand.
"Ms. Culloden, it's so nice to meet you." Please, shake his hand. He was a big fan of anyone with some power in this place. "I'm Fletcher, the junior undersecretary. Fletcher nearly forgot what he'd asked her in his zeal for meeting Victoria, but he recalled the hanging basket in the corner.
Hmm, yeah. "The same is probably true for me," he admitted. "But I could always ask the maintenance staff to see that it's well-kept." Right? He could boss a few people around, at least. He just wanted the plants for the ambiance they added, not the additional responsibility.

Darej didn't react to the kneazle rubbing around his leg, it was sort of nice. He could give them a nice good scratch and rub back in exchange when he sat down. He turned about to pick the kneazle up when he saw a familiar lady walking over to him. He nearly did a double-take with seeing Rebecca here. Not that he was afraid, nope, it was just that the sight of her happened to take him aback. Over time since the infamous boggart extraction mission, there has been a pleasant aura overtaking him when in her presence. There were those co-workers you prefer to keep things short with and others that you didn't mind at all. With Becca, she definitely wasn't someone he wanted to keep things short with. He relaxed even more.
"Hello Becca." He smiled kindly. A rare thing, given how serious he usually is at work. "I fancied myself a cup and figured this would be a good spot." He didn't ask the same with her, since she already said she was on a break. "Would you like to join me?" He could even fix her something too. He was feeling generous. |

He just wanted the plants for the ambiance they added, not the additional responsibility. She lifted up her hand to meet his in the greeting, though she was curious about it since they had been talking. What a polite man was what she concluded in her thoughts though and merely gave a smile. "The pleasure is mine, do you decorate the offices often with plants?" Had hadn't been around during the attack of the plants? She still couldn't bring many to level seven without some of her employees jumping a bit. "I don't know if I'd go about asking maintenance staff right now. With the minister needing them to do extra work with the owls and all. They might not be able to get it. I think you would be better off finding a watering charm or something that could alert you to when it needs something." She assumed there was something like that for plants. "You work int he minister office? Are you liking it?" He had said he was only there a year so she felt it was a good question to ask.

"Oh, no, this is a new idea I've had." He sat himself down at her table to chat for a moment. "We had a few memos go haywire and set the desks on fire," his included, "and I think the office still smells a bit...smoky. So I was thinking of adding a few plants to brighten up the place, clear up the air, make it smell better." Great idea, right? Of course, Fletcher knew nothing of the inner happenings of the Ministry the last few years, and a lot of his coworkers were also new-ish to the Ministry. He had no reason at all to be suspicious of plants!
Ah, right right. The stupid owl problem; just another side effect of the memos going crazy. "You're right," Fletcher nodded. "I might have to ask someone on this floor for a handy spell." He really needed to make a friend in every department just for this reason.
"Oh yes," Fletcher answered promptly and with a dazzling grin. "It's fun, and a very different work environment for me." The minister's office reminded him of Gringotts, sometimes, if he had been a banker and not a cursebreaker there. Fletcher had never had such nice accomodations for work, even WITH the owl droppings everywhere.

Becca watched as Darej leaned down to pick up a kneazle to sit in his lap when their eyes met and it seemed like he froze up and left the kneazle rubbing at his leg and vying for attention hanging. Had she taken his breath away? If so, then she took it as something good and positive. Feminine power. They had a connection that she couldn't put her finger on. Seeing him always made her smile and it made her heart flutter. It had been that way since the boggart extraction mission at Hogwarts, but Becca hadn't had a chance to explore what this connection meant. Work and personal stuff had gotten in the way.
Returning his smile with a warm one of her own Becca answered softly. "As it happens I want something hot to drink too and maybe something sweet too if they have tarts here?" She didn't specify that she meant tea. "I'd like that, if you aren't waiting on someone else?" Maybe Darej had break dates? She remained standing for now. "So how have things been since that Hogwarts mission?" At this moment a dark grey cat came up and brushed it's head against her leg for a scratch. Becca leaned down to give the cat a good scratch before straightening up again.

Fletcher had never had such nice accomodations for work, even WITH the owl droppings everywhere. A new idea? She always liked when people brought new to the table. She had taken his hand and shook it before reaching for her coffee again. "Just a fair warning we did have plants attack in offices, so some of the employees that were here during that time might be a bit jumpy with plants. I have a few that I couldn't bring a plant near." Though one had left shortly after she had been attacked, not that Victoria could blame her. Her smile grew as he spoke about wanting to make the office better, did Charles know this one? They would get along so well, she could see it. "Yes, those were unfortunate and the start of bringing in the owls. I think it is a brilliant idea for you to want to do that for your coworkers. "
A thought crossed her mind and she smiled to herself before she turned back to the man, "Actually would you want to do that for level seven? We couldn't have many but I think it is a brilliant idea to bring in some freshness." It wasn't the only favor she was thinking about asking him, but it would work for now. She needed to figure out if she could take a potential adoptee home to see if he/she went well before she asked the other favor. "I think a water spell would be perfect to help the plants, though I'm not an expert. You should speak to Olly in the environmental, she would know the answer or one of her employees. I bet they would be willing to help." She smiled as he talked so enthusiastic over his position in the minister's office, yes, she would need to make sure Charles knew about this employee and how much he was a valued asset to his office. "I hate to ask this of you but I actually have another favor. It is just to the minister's office so it could be on your way back. Would you be willing to drop off a note and gift to the minister?"

Oh, oops. Fletcher didn't know about the plant attacks, but wasn't really deterred by this warning. "Ah, thanks for the head's up," he said anyway, casually making a mental note to ask January about this later. He flashed her a smile when she called his idea brilliant. Finally, some overdue appreciation! "Thank you." Fletcher was considering this a compliment. Clearly he found himself brilliant too.
And yes, yes he would like to decorate level seven with some plants! Fletcher's smile widened into a positive beam. "Sure! I'd be happy to." He was already brainstorming ideas for how he'd spruce up Games & Sports, which seemed like a cool department, and PLUS he would get the chance to visit another floor, and get off level one, and make new friends allies, and honestly...... he couldn't see anything wrong with this plan.
"Olly," hmm, okay, name wasn't ringing any bells, but, "sounds good. I'll ask around when I finish with these guys." He nodded to the plant he'd been inspecting, but didn't go back to it yet. He was enjoying talking to Victoria. And look, she needed another favor from him. Should Fletcher try to not look too eager that he was finding favor with this pretty senior employee? She seemed important, and he did so enjoy making friends with important people.
Fletcher cleared his throat. Obviously this was important business for VERY important people-- a GIFT for the MINISTER! One didn't get one of those every day. "Of course I could do that for you, Ms. Culloden."

She knew it had been a few years ago, but it was still good to mention. She nodded and made a note that she would be seeing him on level seven sooner rather than later with the plants. 'Wonderful, I will let my team know that you will be popping up. Don't need anyone getting worried that you shouldn't be doing it or anything." Not that her team would probably act suspicious but just in case. "She is the department head of environmental, she will know what to do." She felt the woman was pleasant enough and one that you could approach so she didn't feel Fletcher would have too much trouble with her. Plus if he was bringing plants to the ministry she couldn't say no. Looking around she realized the plants were already in the ministry he was just moving them to new places. "Good, good. Give me one second." She got up from her seat and went to ask a question about the adoption. When she came back she had a carrier for her friend that just so happened to have followed her to the counter and back. She sat back in her seat and wrote a little not, one that if he was looking over her should he could read very easily. Looking back up with a smile on her face she folded the note and then scooped up the Kneazle. "I need you to take this Kneazle and this note to the minister. You don't have to say who it was from, he will know once he reads the note."
Placing the feline in the carrier she stuck the note on top and set it in front of Fletcher.

You don't have to say who it was from, he will know once he reads the note."
Placing the feline in the carrier she stuck the note on top and set it in front of Fletcher. Yes, just in case. One couldn't be too considerate in the workplace, particularly in one like the Ministry of Magic. "Sounds good," Fletcher replied. Would the head of the plants department be an easy person to talk to, he wondered? He really supposed he had to speak to her now, after all of Victoria's insistence. Maybe after he made another trip downstairs with some plants and whatever gift was for Charles, Fletcher would come back up here. Maybe.
He watched as Victoria disappeared for a few, and took that time to add two more plants to his collection on his original table. So depending on how large the Minister's gift was... he'd probably have to make two or three trips up here to get all these....? Ah. Well. He had his plans for the rest of the day sorted! Heh.
Fletcher returned to Victoria's table when she reappeared with a cat cage--- A CAT CAGE?! The gift for the Minister was the kneazle that had been hanging around them?! Why had he been thinking it would be something small like jewelry? Fletcher had planned on putting the gift in his pocket. He certainly couldn't do that to a kneazle though. He couldn't even shrink a kneazle, because as good as he was at Transfiguration, he was uncomfortable doing that to an animal.
And then there was the note. He hadn't been deliberately trying to read it, but Fletcher had nothing else to rest his eyes on at the moment, and so he did, quietly, watch her write out the words WHEN YOU COME OVER FOR DINNER. For some reason, this phrase in particular was sticking out to him as though it were in large print and highlighted in yellow. Fletcher had to say something about this, right? HAD to. Fletcher had thought that the Minister was MARRIED. Or WAS married? Was he STILL married? Suddenly he realized he didn't know his boss as well as he ought to.
He cleared his throat, hoping he wasn't wearing too awkward an expression right now. "Are you and the Minister....close friends, Ms. Culloden?"

She had probably spent plenty of time here and looking at the time she did have a meeting to get to but wanted to make sure that Fletcher was okay with the task she had presented. Hearing him clearing his throat she looked up and the question should have been not surprising but her cheeks flushed all the same. Being a grown woman she wished that would have stopped during her adolescents. "The minister and I are quite close. Not that it is the ministry's business but we have been together for a little time now." It wasn't something they aired on display, but obviously curious eyes had read her words. "I would hope you are still up for this task at sending him the kneazle." Just a friendly should the girlfriend get this feline or not type of thing, but nothing the employees had to really worry about. "I do need to get going though, it was a pleasure to meet you and I hope to see you on level seven with plants soon." She gathered her things before turning back to him. "You are still up to taking Charles this gift, yes?"

He could understand the Minister's interest in her, and would of course be passing along his approval to the man himself when he delivered the gift, which he would still be taking.... This was all just an interesting turn of events in his day, that was all.
"Of course," Fletcher assured her. "Of course I will take him this! I'll head there now myself." He picked up the kneazle cage, grabbed one of the smaller plants that he could manage in one hand, and headed for the door, pausing just before he exited to again give her a reassuring smile. "It was so nice to meet you, Ms. Culloden. I'll see you around soon."

| open post! Sardines ♥ BHB ♥ Dallie ♥ Grumpy ♥ MY SUN AND STARS ♥ i love julia January was in a very good mood today. The sun was shining and she was inside the Ministry, ready to get to work. Sure, it was just another day in the Ministry, but she felt good to be there.
And she wanted tea. Part of her wanted to spice things up and try a different kind, or perhaps even a coffee, but she decided it was best to stick to the usual. After paying for her tea, January used her food to nudg a kitty cat out of her way with no regard her and looked over a few plants. Today seemed like a good day to buy a new plant for the office. |

Letting her long, black curls loose behind her, Yasmin poured herself a cup of fine, earl gray and made her way to one of the tables tucked away in the corner. She loved plants. Perhaps she would grab another dozen for the office. A succulent maybe? Or something much larger this time? A sunflower would be a beautiful addition, in honor of Paria.

Grae had never been more in need of caffeination. After spending three hours straight grading written apparition exams, her eyes were drooping. If she had to read one more version of the answer to What are the three D's of apparition?, she might have to yank her hair out. Of course, there was always the option to use magic to grade the tests. But Grae just didn't feel right about that. The students studied so hard for their written tests, so she felt it was only fair to put equal effort into grading them.
After she refilled her mug with a few shots of espresso, she made her way toward the tables, bending down to scratch a few roaming crups and kneazles behind the ears on the way. Merlin, how she'd like to take one of them home. Grae was about to take a seat at an empty table when she noticed her coworker nursing a steaming cup of tea. "Mind if I join you?" Grae waved as she approached Yassi. "It'd be refreshing to chat with a non-17-year-old for a bit!" she added with a chuckle. Summer in the DMT was always filled with freshly graduated apparition-license hopefuls, and she was sure Yassi had been just as busy administering the practical tests.
