Default Wand Fitting

Just as you enter the shop, in between all the chaos that may or may not have been going on, is a rather open area with a measuring tape that seems to be hovering in mid air. It wiggles and flies around, ready to measure the next customer to walk into it's range. The measuring tape will eagerly measure your height, the reach of your arm, and maybe even other strange measurements to help the wandmakers find the best wand for you.

In front of the counter there is the empty space that is designated as the fitting area. Here is where wands are fitted. After being measured by the magical measuring tape, you will be assisted by a worker who will then endeavor to fit you with your perfect wand and start pulling boxes from the shelves, which stretch back impossibly far and up so high that even the tallest people have to tip their head back to see the tops.

Long sliding ladders are attached to every stretch of shelves, and the wandmakers make great use of these to reach those wands which are tucked away high up. There seems to be a filing system of sorts, some kind of method to the madness, though most of the boxes are unmarked. Is it a colour code? Or is it shape? size? smell? Something else? Well you'll never know unless you get a job here. Luckily, and out of sheer necessity, these shelves have been bespelled so that wandboxes are not in danger of flying everywhere due to errant spells cast by children wielding their new wands.

Text Cut: wand fitting instructions

⌦ In order to receive a wand, please take the WAND QUIZ ONCE for the character who is here for a wand. Then, post your character being measured by the "magical measuring tape" ONCE in this thread. This thread is not one where you should interact with others, one post here please! It serves as our queue!

See the example post below, or look at other posts in this thread from previous terms.

Text Cut: example post
Jessica went into Ollivanders with more than her share of nerves, it was time for her first wand! The eleven year old made her way over to the measuring area and waited for her turn. Soon enough the measuring tape reached her and began zipping about, straightening with a snap and measuring out her height and, when she held her arms out, she watched it take a measurement of how long they were too. Fun! Did that mean her wand would be as big as her whole arm?

The girl stepped away from the measuring area and she eagerly waited for the shopkeeper to find her wand.

⌦ Please take the SORTING QUIZ first and wait to be placed in your house before taking the wand quiz! Your house effects your final wand in our quiz! This goes for current members who are re-sorting too, though you may take the quiz in advance if you know what your new house will be.

⌦ You may role play the magical measuring tape, but you may not role play for the shopkeepers. Ollivander does not work here!

⌦ After submitting the wand quiz and posting in this thread, please wait for a shop worker to assist you and your character in finding their perfect wand match. You do not have to RP to get your wand, but it is highly encouraged as a part of enriching your RP experience.

⌦ Please do not stretch the wand fitting experience out too long, it should not take more than three tries at an absolute maximum to find your character's match.

⌦ If we run out of time to complete the RP with you by the end of the RP summer, we will PM or VM your wand result to you, provided you have posted in this thread and responded to our efforts to interact with you.

⌦ If you have any questions, feel free to PM Felixir or one of the Diagon Alley Proprietors and they'll try to answer your questions as quickly and efficiently as they can.

⌦ Have fun!

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

With Dad Adi off with Ary to Sugarplums {Dy hadn’t the inkling why her daddy bothered taking Ary to sweet shops; her younger brother just wasn’t interested in sweets at all}, Dynah had literally skipped along with papa Benny and her twin sister to Ollivander’s. Her first wand! What fun! Dy could hardly wait, having heard tales from her fathers and older brothers of their respective experiences at Ollivander’s. Goodness knew how many wands she would have to try first but as much as she wanted to choose one quickly, she knew she would have no choice but to stick to the process no matter how long it took.

Somewhere in the process of entering the shop and skipping past papa Benny and Nads, Dy found herself at the Wand Fitting area. Why? Well, the girl had been eager to see that measuring tape she heard so much about! There it was! Where was Nads? She needed to get here pronto! Dy scooted back slightly in Nads’ direction. “Nads! Get over here!’’ Only to notice that her sister seemed to be having a moment due to the vast number of boxes on display. "I've interrupted a deep thought, haven't I?" They may not look identical but they did share a womb {their crazy, fun aunt’s on dad Adi’s side} so Dynah did know the other girl well. “Sorry, but come on!” The older twin scurried away, back towards the measuring tape. The moment she had come close to it, it was taking her arm measurements. The process put her in a fit of giggles for no apparent reason.

Nads!

Nadia was drawn out of her moment of seeing everything around and above her by the familiar voice calling her name. “Not so much deep…but awesome,” she remarked as she moved further into the shop and followed her older twin to the wand fitting area. The happy thought of getting her first wand and hitting that right of passage of getting older and able to explore more of the world. Her curiosity at getting to see Hogwarts and all they would be learning was hard to ignore.

“Coming…coming.” Cue the return of the bouncy energy at the prospect of what was to come. “Not about to shove you aside to get there first,” she teased as the measure tape dealt with Dy before it flitted to take care of her. The eleven year old doing her best to stay still as it worked not wanting to mess up the measurements.

Ah, the summer rush. Most wonderful time of the year. Zeke had been tidying - of course - in the back room, but as soon as his next batch of customers had arrived, he'd emerged to check the measurements that had been sent his way, and then quietly gone a-hunting for some wand choices.

"Hello, hello, hello," came the voice of the wandmaker, emerging from some shelves with a few wand boxes stacked in each hand. He smiled indulgently at his young customer and placed the boxes in one hand on his counter, then lined them up. Oh yes, he was fairly confident of the wand wood in this situation, but these things sometimes took a little fine-tuning. "Beautiful day outside, isn't it? I do hope the warm weather lasts this summer."

Zeke knew, however, that his customers were often too eager for wands to start discussing the weather, and he was more than ready for that part too. He opened up the first wand box, and offered it. "Give this a wave, and we'll see how you get on with it, shall we?"

... and, seeing as these two appeared to have come to the shop together, and given his measuring tape had seen to them in quick succession, Zeke had already decided to see to them at the same time. "And hello to you as well."

This was where his other handful of boxes came in. Zeke had set them down on his other side, and now picked out one of the boxes - after a little deliberation because, again, the measurements gave him a very strong indication of The One™, but that did not necessarily mean that they'd get it in one. He did always like to try, though.

Holding out one of the wand boxes to this next young customer, he removed its lid and smiled. "Here you are. Try this out, and tell me if you think it's the one, or if we ought to try another." Usually it was obvious, but in a way it depended on the wand, and on the individual being fitted.

Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE!

The first official stop on her official Hogwarts supply shopping Diagon Alley trip was obviously wand shopping. (After, of course, being lost by her brother and a small adventure of her own and being found by her parents and a gentle scolding and a reminder that "Hogwarts was a privilege" and blah blah blah.)

This was really it. Her own wand. She had waited eleven years, nine months, and twenty-one days for today. The day she would get her very own wand. With which she would learn her very own spells. With which she would impress her Da and help her big sister cook someday. This was the start of, well, everything.

Smile firmly plastered on her face, fists clenched at her sides, hardly daring to breathe for fear she might squeal with joy, Sophia stood as still as could be as she waited her turn for her wand measurements. The stillness was the only reasonable way to prevent herself from BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS WITH EXCITEMENT. When it was finally her turn, she took a deep breath, then relaxed a bit so the magical measuring tape could measure her. Was she tall? Would she get a tall wand? She was certainly mature for a first year, see how much calmer she was than the other eleven-year-olds? Soph was certain she'd get a wand that recognized her decorum and, well, that she was nearly twelve already. She giggled as the measuring tape zipped along her arms. That tickled!!

Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?

Brandon wasn't alone this time. He'd been collecting most of his school supplies by himself, but his wand fitting was supposed to be special, and his older sister Ashley had insisted on coming. She felt bad about his current situation, and he thought she needed fresh air. And he hated being lonely, and needed someone to be here for him. He entered the shop, protectively holding her hand(Ash was quite certain that she was protecting him). He took in every detail- the wand boxes, the measuring tape, the other kids and the staff. The chaos- organized.

He could tell that he was supposed to stand by the measuring tape. He didn't like it and it was much too close to him for him to feel comfortable. He stood perfectly still as it measured too many things and was secretly relieved when it left. Then he stepped out of the way, taking up his older sister's hand again, and waited properly for one of the staff members to assist him.

There were too many people in here.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Dy was sorry for interrupting her sister’s thoughts but there were more pressing matters. Perhaps Nads would get back to those thoughts later on. “Riddle me this, Nads. Who’s slightly older than you are and has an inanimate object super interested in her violin-playing arms right now?” Dy giggled, having her own fun with the tape. Not for longer though - the shopkeep suddenly appeared, leaving the bright eyed girl staring up at him. “Hi, hi, hi!” came an enthusiastic greeting, mirroring the man’s triple greeting. “It’s extremely hot out there, Mister. Ten/ten would recommend not leaving your shop.” She threw him a toothy smile then eyed the boxes that had been brought out.

Was her new wand somewhere in one of those??!

When the first wand was offered, Dy eagerly took it. Her first thought was that it felt extremely cold in her hand. Dy wrinkled her nose in uncertainty, her spirit not quite taking to the object. Still, the wand was waved. A strong gust of wind shot from it, and much to her horror, it headed straight for the shopkeeper and his boxes. With a soft gasp at the prospect of destruction, the eleven year old scrambled to give back the wand. “Sorry! But I don’t think this one is for me.”

Ha ha soooooo funny. “That demiguise Aunt Hads was treating a year ago?” Nadia jested, sticking her tongue ever so briefly at Dy.

And there was the shopkeeper ready with his arms filled with boxes. Nadia watched with interest as he went to work with her sister, talking about the weather and all. It was a nice out which certainly was a good thing for London. From what she had heard anyway, they didn’t spend all that much time there. She was quite patient in waiting her turn until he moved to assist her as well. “Hello sir,” she greeted back with a polite smile, her attention slipping to the other pile of boxes that he was offering for her to try.

This was it. The incoming first year was curious as to just how she would know what felt right. Only one way to find out.

She followed his instruction, reaching inside the opened box to take out the wand offered there. It didn’t feel different upon first touch, her small fingers wrapping around the wood. Then taking a deep breath, Nadia moved it like the adults around her always did and nothing happened causing her to make a face. “Not that one I guess,” she answered, placing it back in the box. At least she wasn’t threatening the shopkeeper like the other girl.

Biting her lip Cassidy walked into the shop and looked around, so many people in here waiting made her feel uneasy. Although she was excited to get her wand, she didn't do well with crowded places. After all, she was just a small town farm girl so she didn't know many people to start with. Waiting in line she seen the other kids around her get measured as she looked at it with interest. She haven't seen much things magical so she was intrigued by it. She was excited she couldn't wait to get measured and her wand.

After a bit of waiting, it was finally her turn to get measured finally for her wand. Walking forward she stood still as it measured under her arms making her giggle a bit cause it tickled. After a few measurements she was done and ready to see what the shopkeeper had in store for her. She was excited and nervous at the same time, she seen some break vases and set fire to things, she hoped she didn't cause too much damage.

Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

And so he was here. Ewy was excited, but also bothered to be here. Don't get him wrong, Ewy has loved coming to Diagon Alley. There was a lot of really cool things about Magic that he absolutely adored. Unfortunately as each day crept closer to the end of summer the more depressed he became. He was going to dread getting on that train and leaving home for a Castle full of unfamiliar faces and most of all, his Mama wasn't going to be there. Ewy wasn't a fool. He knows Mama can't go with him. She's a muggle. Her being there would not be good for her. Also she has a job and is finishing school herself. That didn't mean he wasn't allowed to miss her lots. AND HE WOULD...oh he planned to make it a big deal getting on that train when the time came.

That was neither here nor there at this moment. At this moment, Ewy would focus on his excitement. A Wand Fitting! HIS WAND!! One he could call his own and do the spells he would learn with it. He took his place and the Measuring Tape begin it's work. Ewy stretched his arms out when it needed to get their lengths. He tried to suck his gut in but the tape was having none of it. It tickled him under his armpit until he chuckled and let his gut back out. Letting the measuring tape finish it's work.

It was a busy sort of day to day, but Zeke would certainly never consider that a bad thing. Alright, he'd not stopped all day and the soles of his feet were starting to complain, and his knees had taken it upon themselves to remind him that he was mere days away from the big four-zero, but the wandmaker was still smiling.

Customers like this next one made it easy; enthusiasm was infectious. "Hello hello hello!" Zeke greeted her, consulting the measurements supplied by his tape measure, hmm-ing, then excusing himself. A moment later and he was back again, now with a selection of wand boxes in his hands.

"You know what to do?" he asked his customer, opening up one of the boxes so as to offer the wand inside, then going ahead an explaining anyway. "Give this a wave, and we'll see what happens. Tell me if it feels like the one." She'd know. They often knew right away.

Preoccupied as he was, dealing with something in the back room - the 'something' in question being a minor shelf collapse that had occurred earlier during an unsuccessful wand match, though one that produced effects with impressive range - Zeke had enchanted the parchment of measurements to come and find him when it was ready for him.

And find him it did, the parchment having rolled itself up and thwapped him on the head without warning, taking him by surprise rather than causing any real distress.

So the first seen of Zeke was his emerging from the back room with a small stack of wand boxes, smiling genially at his customer and his chaperone. "Hello there," he greeted them kindly, setting the boxed down. "Ready to see if we can's find your wand? Here we are, give this a wave, and we'll see what's what." With that, Zeke opened up the box on top of the stack, and tilted it forward so that the wand inside could be taken out.

Zeke let out a small chuckle. "I'm likely to be in here until closing in any case, but feel free to browse for a while if you want to stay somewhere relatively cool." Cool as in temperature-wise, at all. Reviews were hugely varied as to the figurative coolness of his shop.

But this wand business, ye-

Instinctively screwing up his face against the blast of air - though not drawing his own wand as his reflexes were quick enough to tell him he wouldn't need it - Zeke clamped his hands down over the remaining wand boxes on the counter, to ensure they came to no harm. After a moment, when the air around him was calmer, he peeked one eye open, then the other. All fine? All fine.

"Not to worry." He took the first wand back, and instead opened up the second box. "Why don't you try this one next?"

Meanwhile, this wand had not performed. Zeke didn't press the matter; if it produced no effect and his young customer did not sense some kind of affinity with the wand, then it was likely not a match.

"I think you may be correct," he agreed, and shuffled the boxes to bring a different one to the top, after a moment of consideration given how the first had performed. Or not performed, as the case may be. Having decided, he removed the lid from the next box, and offered the wand inside to the girl. "Let's see if you fare better with this one."

There was no stopping for Zeke today, but he didn't mind at all. "Hello there." His voice was kind, and his smile friendly. "Now, you know what to do? Just take the wand and give it a wave, we'll see what happens, and you can tell me if it feels like the right one for you." With that, he removed the lid of the first wand box with a flourish, and offered its contents to the girl.

That measuring tape of his was a wily one, no two ways about it. Zeke had witnessed its little ploy just then, huffing out a soft little laugh to himself while he waited for it to finish up, and then stepping in to take over.

"Hello there," he greeted the boy, scanning through the measurements that had been collected, then promptly wandering the shop to take down a few wand boxes of different combinations and possibilities. Just a small handful, and then he was back. "So! Let's find you your wand, shall we?" As he had done countless times before, Zeke removed the lid ceremoniously from the first box, and offered the wand inside to his customer, with a tiny little bow. "Just give it a wave, and we'll see how you go."

Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?

Brandon offered the shopkeeper a hesitant smile. The man seemed nice enough. "Hello..." He took the offered wand, keeping an eye on the shopkeeper the whole time. The wand- he didn't like it. It was all wrong, and he didn't like it. But he didn't let go. He gently waved the wand in the air. Nothing. He waved it again, with his other hand. Nothing at all. "I don't like it. Or it doesn't like me. It's-" He shook his head, hastily but properly setting the wand back in the box and wiping his hand off on his jeans when he thought the shopkeeper wouldn't notice. "I'msorry," he mumbled, shifting back behind his sister. He didn't mean to be difficult or say bad things about wands or... or... heHadn'tMeantToBeDifficult.

It wasn't gonna tickle him anymore was it? Ewy learned his lesson. He supposed that to get the right wand he would need to let it even get his belly correct. The eleven-year-old stood at attention when a man approached him. "H-hello there to you too." He chirped back.

Was he supposed to follow the man as he picked a few of those boxes? Wait...was he getting all of those? He looked at the open box in front of him and at the wand in it, but his eyes kept going back to the other boxes. "I only need one." He said calmly, as he took the wand from its box and looked at it and inspecting it's design. Maybe the shopkeeper was new to the job or something.

Ewy did what he was instructed to do. He swung his one arm from one end to the other gripping the wand tightly. But nothing happened. Huh. "I think it's defective, sir." He placed the wand back into the box himself. "Hope they all don't do nothing." If he was going to be getting all those wands he brought over Ewy hoped one would at least work.

"Hello there sir." Her voice was a bit shy but at his kind voice and friendly smile she let out a small smile. Nodding she took the wand and gave it a wave. Jumping as the wand made like spluttering like noises, it felt weird in her hands like it was too big for her little hand. " I don't think this one is the one, feels too big and I don't think it likes me." Biting her lip she looked up at him. "I think the spluttering is telling me I'm not a good fit for it, but I could be wrong."

She felt kinda embarrassed by it, but she probably wasn't the only one who didn't get their perfect wand on the first time. Besides, as they always say perfection isn't made it's given or something like that. "It's a pretty wand, but it's not meant for me I'm sorry sir."

Sophia was glad the wand man was nice. The girl she'd spoken to outside had been right, it was intimidating once you were really in here. What if a wand didn't like you and made such a complete mess that you just got sent away?! Still, the prospect of having her very own wand led to more excitement than nerves, and the shopkeeper's friendliness only helped.

"Right, erm, yes, thank you," she said as he explained how to 'test' a wand, wanting to be polite and stumbling a bit over all the possible ways to do so. Without hesitation, she lifted the wand from its box and stared at it in her hand for a moment. It didn't feel as fragile as she thought it would, but not because it felt heavy, just sort of...confident in itself. It was certainly easier to hold than a pencil or a quill, but she supposed wands would be. Most people didn't wave their pencils around all day. You wouldn't need to worry about a pencil flying out of your hand if momentum overpowered your grip.

Just give it a wave, he'd said. Sophia swiiished the wand from right to left. The wand let off a trail of gold stars. Wide-eyed, she looked back at the man who was helping her. "That's... good, right?" She hoped so. She liked the stars.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Just look at her sister having jokes over there. Well, it was funny and clearly Nads took after dad Adi in terms of being humorous. Dy simply made a comical face in return then shot Nads a grin. They would continue this later as there were pressing matters to iron out. “I think I would like that, Mister! Thanks a bunch!’’ The offer to hang around a bit more would definitely be taken up, if Papa Benny didn’t mind, that was.

“I blame the Nargles,’’ the older twin piped up, still somewhat shaken up by her experience. “I blame them enough for both you and I, Nads.” Even if nothing untoward had happened with her sister and that wand. Was the nice shopkeeper… mad? Surely he wasn’t? Dy figured that there were much worse calamities that went on in here. Still, when Mister Shopkeeper opened the first eye, he would see her squinting apprehensively at him.

By the time he had the second open and was offering her another wand, Dy felt one hundred percent better. Relaxing, the next wand was taken. Immediately, the differences between this and the first were noticed. Firstly, the handle felt familiar, as though she were holding the hand of a close friend. Secondly, the wand put her to ease and seemed to boost her confidence. When it was waved, yellowish/gold bubbles erupted. “I like this one!’’ Her gaze was fastened on the bubbles which were lazily floating towards Mr. Shopkeep’s face.

Ok, this was it - time to get the wand selection done and out of the way. Nancy had no idea WHY she was putting so much thought into this. It seemed unnecessary to freak out this much. What was the wand going to do? Tell her she was a squib? That was obviously not the case, as she'd had numerous incidents growing up here and there that indicated she was magical, just like most magical children her age.

For some reason this whole wand thing was just so daunting. This wand was going to be her partner in magic for the REST OF HER LIFE.

Or until she broke it.

THAT WAS A LOT OF PRESSURE OK?

Walking in and waiting her turn in line, she practiced her measured breathing that she'd been taught to help her remain focused and calm. Once she approached the counter she was feeling a little bit better, but still understandably nervous. She walked up and smiled at the shopkeeper. "Hello. Hi. I'm here for a wand," she said, immediately regretting her words. OF COURSE she was here for a wand! Why wouldn't she be?!

Nadia chuckled at the face Dy pulled. “Right…we’re blaming the Nargles,” she agreed, shaking her head to bring her attention back to the shopkeeper. The man having another wand for her to try, one she hoped she had better luck with. Even with Nargles interfering or not. The first year reached for the offered wood, feeling a little better as she moved it around in her grasp. Did that mean it was the one? She kept an open mind knowing there was only one way to find out, at least it seemed that way to the girl.

To give it a wave. Which she did and it responded this time though not exactly how she might have wanted it to. Her actions caused a flash of flames to hit the nearby counter that the boxes had been resting on. “Ooops.” The shopkeeper had a way to control that….right?

"Not to worry," said Zeke, distinctly unruffled as he set the wand aside. Once they were done here it would be cleaned and polished and returned to the shelves ready for the next potential match to try it out.

Such a range of children passed through this shop that he was quite used to the anxious, easily upset types, just as he was accustomed to the eager and the enthusiastic, the stoic, the irritable, and so on. As such, he made no comment, though softened his voice and smile somewhat. "That's why we have options. If every wand and magical individual liked each other, my measuring tape would be out of a job."

He picked out another box from his small collection, and offered the contents of that instead. "Let's see if you fare any better with this one."

Which... well, Zeke thought they all held merit in that area, in one way or another. Then again, he did have his favourite woods too, it was only natural.

"Let's try another, shall we?" he said, picking up box number two, thoughtfully considered the wand inside, then offered that to his young customer. "Maybe this one."

Delightful. Absolutely delightful. Always something of a personal triumph to match his customers on the first try, but it was more than that. It was the reaction to the match, and even to picking up the right wand for the first time.

"That's very good, yes. Unless I am very much mistaken, you've found a match. This wand has chosen you." Exciting, right? Yes. It was. And now, his speec-... explanation.

"This is eleven inches and two thirds of delicate aspen, with a billywig sting core. The core makes for an undoubtedly dependable wand, excellent for charms work, and charms concerned with propulsion or lift in particular. You should master the wand relatively quickly." As he spoke, Zeke set the other wand boxes to the side, so that he could easily return them to the shelves when they were done here, and prepared to ring up the wand itself. A rather distinct looking wand too - not many wand woods were so light in hue as this one. "Aspen is also excellent for Charms, and for duelling too. It's often said that the owner of an aspen wand is attracted to revolutionaries, and also to a notable duellist or an individual destined to be one. The Silver Spears apparently used to only accept duellists with aspen wands." But he was going to get off that subject before he went off on a tangent. Zeke did enjoy the history of wands. Naturally. "Aspen also helps to direct focus."

Now then, he supposed that was plenty to be getting on with. "The wand by itself is 10 galleons, plus anything else you might like today."

Nargles? ... Sure. It was the nargles. But just as long as said nargles were not in here chewing up Zeke's precious wands, he'd leave them well enough alone.

What were nargles, anyway? ... Anyway.

In any case, they definitely had more success with the second try. Zeke beamed at his young customer, leaning oh-so-casually out of the way as the bubbles drifted closer to his face. Matrix style (though perhaps not nearly as impressive).

"Clearly, it likes you too. Congratulations, your wand has chosen you." Zeke cleared his throat then, and - slow mo swerving one last gold bubble - launched into his spiel. "This wand is ten and a half inches of flexible spruce, with a billywig sting core. It's a wood that requires a firm hand in casting magic, as it gets ideas above its station at times, starts to think it knows better than the caster - but the fact that it's chosen you tells me that you're up to the task. Once you've mastered this wand, it will be exceptionally loyal to you. It is excellent for conjuration and creature magic, and not suitable for the dark arts." Not that he was making any assumptions or insinuations either way, of course. It simply served to state the facts. "The billywig core makes for a very dependable and reliable wand - though one that doesn't really like stealthy spells all that much, so anything in that area might require a little extra work to master."

And that, as they said, was that. Or, well... no it wasn't, but he had to stop there or they'd be here all day. "That's 10 galleons for the wand by itself, plus anything else you might like to buy today." Then again, perhaps these two would be paying together, once they were both fitted with their wands.

Fire.

Fire.

With the reflexes of a man whose livelihood was the thousands of wooden instruments around him, Zeke immediately scooped up the wand boxes at the same time as drawing his own wand, and doused the flames with a wordless little flick. Whew. Fire. Always terrifying. To the extent that almost everything out on the shop floor was as flame proof as he could get it without causing detriment to the product, but all the same.

And yet still he smiled, rubbing a thumb over the scorchmarks on the counter and setting a mental reminder to see to that later, before looking at the customer. "Well, I think it's safe to say this wand will perform for you, but does it feel like the right match to you?" Zeke couldn't always tell when the effects produced were of a more... destructive nature. In some it indicated a perfect match, and in others an overpowered wand, so it usually served to check in with them. "Or would you like to try another?"

Which came first, the phoenix or the flame?

I don't LIKE the measuring tape.

Brandon couldn't understand why the man was so nice and patient. But he didn't want him to stop being nice and patient, so he tried to do what the shopkeeper wanted and make all the correct faces and take up as little time as possible. He took the next wand. This one... he wasn't sure about it. He switched it between his hands three or four times, trying to figure out if that made the wand feel more or less right. Nobody seemed to mind that he was taking his time. He settled on the right hand.

He waved it, creating a beam of brilliant light. He looked at the shopkeeper again. Brandon wasn't sure if that meant the wand was his or not, but he did know that he felt a wave of strong reluctance at the thought of giving it back. His fingers tightened around it, holding more securely.

He'd created a light. That meant the wand was his now, right? Nobody was going to suddenly make him take a different one? Because this was the one he wanted. It was his. and he would cry if anyone tried to take it away because it was his it was his

It was doing the light thing again. "I need this one," he said firmly. "How much should I pay for it?"

Which... well, Zeke thought they all held merit in that area, in one way or another. Then again, he did have his favourite woods too, it was only natural.

"Let's try another, shall we?"he said, picking up box number two, thoughtfully considered the wand inside, then offered that to his young customer. "Maybe this one."

Looking at the wood she was in awe by how pretty the wand was, he was right it was prettier then the last one. "Ooh... this one is more prettier then the last one for sure!" Taking the wand it felt nice and warm in her hands, and it felt perfect in her small hands not too big or small for her hands it was perfect. Taking it waving it a burst of sparkles came out of if making her squeal and giggle happily before looking at him. " That's good right? It means the wand is for me right? Cause it feels perfect in my hand nice and warm too."

Biting her lip she looked down at the wand in her hands, it wasn't spluttering or doing anything bad. She felt like it was meant for her, she loved how it felt. She was muggleborn but she knew when things felt right.

Thankfully the shopkeeper was quick on his feet and with his own wand, taking care of the trouble she caused without too much damage. “Sorry…” Nadia replied apologetically, looking a tad sheepish at her drama. As for the wand and whether it was a good fit… “Well, it felt better than the first one…” she remarked truthfully, “I’m not sure of it.” She certainly didn’t want to risk causing a fire every time she used her wand, even if the chance of that happening would diminish by her actually learning how to properly use it and her magic.

“I’d like to try another please,” she admitted, carefully handing back the offensive fire-starter to return to its box. Dy might have lucked out on her second choice, but maybe just maybe for her the third time would be the charm. It would feel better than just settling on a possible match…right?

He stepped away to collect the appropriate wand choices, and then was, indeed, back again, though it was closer to a minute than a moment. "Now then, do you know what to do?" he asked, opening up one box and holding it inside its own lid for the moment, then offering the wand inside to the customer. "Just take it and give it a wave, and we'll see what happens. Tell me if it feels right, or if you'd like to try another."
Well, the shopkeeper was nice enough at least. That made Nancy feel a bit more relaxed. She smiled at him and took the wand with a shaky hand, making sure she turned it over a few times in her grip. It didn't feel quite...right as she held it. Then again, she'd never held a REAL wand before. Toy wands, sure...

She took a deep breath and waved it, and when she did so, one of the boxes on the nearby counter SHOT off the counter and into the opposite wall, hitting the floor loudly as Nancy quickly placed the wand back on the counter like it was made of lava. That was gonna be a HARD pass from her. "No, that's not it," she said softly. Hopefully there wasn't anything expensive or fragile in that box....

As was illustrated only moments later. Zeke gave a small chuckle, replaced the lid of the box, and set it aside. "As a matter of fact, they all don't do nothing. That is to say, they all do something, for the right match." Considering the others, he pulled out another box, took the lid off, and offered that wand next. "Give this one a try, see if you get along with each other."
"Combination" Ewy spoke quietly under his breath with an intrigued look on his face as he inspected the wand from it's box before happily taking it into the palm of his hand and gripping it tightly same as before with the last one.

"I'll take your word for it, sir." He was in fact the expert even if Ewy thought the man was just trying to save face for having given him quite a few wands.

He took a step back. With the same aggressive attitude Ewy swung his arm though in a slightly different motion than before. As his wand arm crossed over his chest a slimy purple substance formed out of midair and then shot across the store at probably was definitely light speed for sure until it splattered against the window of the shop. He looked at it in shock, and then awe as he chuckled similarly to how he had been tickled only a moment ago. "Ew...that's gross!" He said gleefully. As he looked at the wand with a nod. He chuckled again because Ew....Ewy...that was him.

Phoebe entered with the rest of the barrington bunch. Aunt Hady was the real mvp for looking after twins. More focus for the three of them. She was being a little selfish but still. It was there moment after all. wands and school soon and lets not forget books! Dad was laughing about being in ollivanders after like 20 years. He was trying to remember who the shopkeeper was back than. he old. At least mum was behaving. She looked around before nudging Giselle

"Look at this place"

Meaning look at all the wands and one of them will be hers and one will be Giselle's. She gave Xander a look hoping he wasn't too distracted. Seems there was a tiny bit of a wait before it was her turn to go in front of the tape. Shame she didnt bring a book. Would have been perfect. When it was finally her turn she made her way in front of the measuring tape with her arms spread out.

"Please be gentle"

she had no idea if it could listen or if it even worked that way. didnt with the things at home. But there was always a chance.
