Alrighty, so this is my first go at a fanfic and I hope I don't disappoint. This story adds a character to the Wizarding World. It will stay as close to canon as possible but will have to adjust a bit to the new character. This story also shows a new side to Lupin. The main character is Sirius' daughter and Lupin's Goddaughter, which also brings me to the fact that Lupin wasn't ever homeless or alone... At least not in my story... EVERYTHING in the Wizarding world belongs to the amazing, incredible JK Rowling, except of course the character I invented. The locations, people, etc. are hers and only hers. So, here goes.

Prologue:
On a dark and misty night, in Surrey, a baby boy was being taken to his Aunt and Uncle’s house. His parents had just been murdered by the greatest evil ever seen, and he was now an orphan. But this is not a story about Harry James Potter, The Boy Who Lived. This story takes place a few hours later, in Shell Cottage, where a baby girl was being transferred to her Godfather’s.
A tabby looking cat with squared markings shaping her eyes stood on the corner of Shell Cottage and Sandy Lane. She had been on that same corner for a little over an hour. Glancing around, she shivered once and then rested her eyes upon a deserted patch of pavement right under a lamppost. After what seemed like ten minutes, there was a flicker of movement from a nearby bush. A man in long dress-robes and a pointed wizard’s hat stepped out into the light and clicked a cigarette lighter look alike. The closest light went out. After clicking it multiple times, the whole street was completely black. In the strange looking man’s other arm was a bundle of pink blankets with the softest sound of heavy breathing. The tabby cat transformed, for a second time that night, into her “human form.”
“Good Evening, Professor Dumbledore,” stated the witch as she walked up to him, her emerald robes billowing out behind her.
“Good Evening, or shall I say morning, Professor McGonagall,” smiled the tall wizard. “Long time, no see,” he chuckled.
“Albus, is it true? Did Sirius really betray them? His best friend, Albus?”
“I’m afraid the truth is not always easily seen, Minerva. We may never know what has truly happened. But, what I do know is that Sirius was found in a street with twelve muggles dead and only a finger left of Peter Pettigrew. He has been taken to Azkaban, and Amelia, going after him, found herself in the crossfire. I don’t know if Sirius will ever be able to forgive himself for that.”
“What will happen to Emily?”
“That, Minerva, is what brings us to another neighborhood tonight. I think it will be best if we take her to her godfather’s house. I think he will want to take her.”
“First Harry and now Emily; what has the world come to?”
“Ahh, Minerva, let’s not dwell upon the unpleasant. Once again, think of what has happened. He is gone, for now at least.”
“So, you don’t think he’s gone for good?”
“Only time can tell. Shall we get her inside?” asked Dumbledore, indicating the pink bundles in his hand.
The witch nodded, and they glided down the street. As they walked, they felt the light breeze linger in the air. The smell of the ocean swirled around them, stinging their nostrils a bit. Staying on the out-skirt of the street, they rounded right before stopping in front of a white cottage with flowers outlining the walk to the door. There was a dim light through one of the upstairs’ windows. Dumbledore and McGonagall made their way to the door, then knocked three times. While they waited, Dumbledore hummed a show tune and McGonagall stared at the baby they were about to hand off. They heard footsteps echo through the house, lights flipping on as they grew louder. The footsteps stopped and a man’s eyes could be seen peeping out the curtain. After realizing whom it was, a mediocre, straggly man with wild hair and deep circles under his green eyes opened the door.
“Albus, Minerva, what brings you to my neck of the woods?” asked the man, eyeing the two. He then noticed the pink blankets. His eyes widened and he nearly choked. “No, it can’t be. There’s been a mistake. Please tell me it’s not that, anything but that. They’re not...”
Albus held up his hand. “Dear boy, we can’t afford to lose you too, please calm down, Remus. Everything will be all right. May we enter?” Albus asked.
The man named Remus motioned for them to enter. After closing the door behind them, he made his way to the living room. Minerva and Albus sat side-by-side on the long couch while Remus took the armchair opposite them. Minerva took the baby girl from Albus’ hands and rocked her gently. Remus leaned his head back against the chair; he looked ghastly. He had turned pale white and was shaking slightly. Opening his eyes, he looked over at the pink blankets where he knew his goddaughter was hiding.
“Remus, we need to talk about a few things,” stated Dumbledore softly, but sternly. Remus nodded so Dumbledore continued. “Sirius was found in the middle of a street with his wand; twelve muggles are dead, but that’s not all. Not only muggles were in that street.” Albus was staring into Remus’ eyes with a sad expression. He felt sorry for Remus Lupin; he was about to tell him that he has lost all of his best friends—James, Peter, and even Sirius in some ways. Remus nodded, as if knowing what was about to be said. “It was believed that Peter Pettigrew searched for Sirius tonight to kill him for his betrayal against James and Lily. All they found of Pettigrew was his finger. Also, Amelia; she heard that Sirius might have been in trouble. She went after him and got blasted in the crossfire. I’m so sorry, Remus, I know this is difficult for you,” Dumbledore continued.
Silence followed after Dumbledore finished. Remus had tears welling up in his eyes. He couldn’t believe it. Prongs was dead. Lily was dead. Wormtail was dead. Amelia was dead. Padfoot was in Azkaban for causing the deaths. Everything was crumbling around him. He let a few tears escape before wiping them off. McGonagall took a tissue from the inside of her robes and sniffled behind it. She, too, was crying. Remus got out of his chair and knelt down in front of Professor McGonagall, looking at his goddaughter intently. A pale pink hand dropped out of the pink bundles, and Remus reached up, putting his forefinger inside it. The little fist closed around Remus’ finger.
“Albus, what happens to Emily?” asked Remus, looking up. He searched the old man’s face.
“She doesn’t have any living grandparents, Remus. She is your goddaughter, so I thought we might give you a chance to take her. If you do not wish to take responsibility, we understand and will take her to an orphanage first thing tomorrow morning,” stated Dumbledore.
“Of course I’ll take her,” said Remus without thinking.
“She is going to be a great responsibility, Remus, are you absolutely positive?” asked Professor McGonagall.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Minerva,” stated Remus determinedly.
“It’s settled then. I will need you to sign a few papers, just saying that you will be her guardian and what not, and we will be on our way,” smiled Dumbledore.
Remus nodded his head and motioned for the old wizard to follow him to the kitchen to sign the papers. McGonagall stayed in the living room with the baby girl sound asleep. Flipping the lights as he went, the tabby looking man sat at the head of the table, Dumbledore sitting on his left. Dumbledore rummaged in his cloak for a second, then pulled out a long stick. With a flick of his wand, some papers, a quill, and ink appeared. Remus looked into Dumbledore’s eyes and had the feeling that he was being x-rayed; like Dumbledore could see right through him. The old wizard gave him a small smile, nodding a bit.
“Sign here and here.” Dumbledore indicated to two lines then pushed the papers towards Remus.
Remus signed the papers, and with the flick of his wand, Dumbledore made the papers once again disappear.
“Is that all?” Remus asked.
“Yes, that will be all for now. I believe the ministry is looking over Amelia’s will and then they will be in touch shortly. Now, I believe we will let you and your goddaughter get some rest. Best wishes and if you were to need anything, please don’t hesitate to send an owl.” The old wizard pushed his chair out and stood up. Walking into the other room, he stated, “Minerva, I think it may be time for us to leave and not intrude on Mr. Lupin any longer.”
Standing up, the petite witch looked over to Lupin and took half a step. Remus met her the rest of the way and took the baby girl in his hands, balancing all of her weight evenly. The tabby wizard walked his guests to the door and bid them a goodnight. He watched as the two disappeared down the dark street. Closing the blinds, Remus Lupin walked up his stairs to his bedroom, flipping lights off as he went.
Pulling out his wand with his right hand, as his left was preoccupied, he waved it. A blur of pink and green scurried around the room, and after a few seconds, the silence prevailed. Trudging over to the pink crib by his bed, he sat the pink bundles down. He pulled a green blanket, which was engraved with ‘Emily J. R. A. S. Black,’ over the side of the crib and tucked Emily into it. Sighing, he sat down on the edge of his bed. Taking off his worn out tennis shoes, he glanced at the clock. It was after 2AM. It’s been a long day, he thought. Turning the lamp by his bed off, he lay back on his pillows and fell asleep to the soft breathing of the other life that he vowed to protect.
I love them all!
They're so full of love and now they've got sadness in them...

Emily found herself in front of the stone gargoyles before realizing she had even made it to the castle. “Chocolate Frogs,” Emily said quietly. The gargoyles leapt aside and she made her way up the winding staircase. She knocked quietly on the door.
“Enter,” she heard a voice say.
Emily opened the door and found Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore waiting. He motioned for her to take a seat beside McGonagall.
“Well, Mrs. Weasley, I assume you got back your scores,” Dumbledore smiled. “They were outstanding if I do say so myself,” he said.
“Yes, yes, they were quite good. We are here to talk about your options, Mrs. Weasley. I know that it is your intention to be a Healer and an Auror. You will need to take quite a load this year. Are you sure you don’t want to come back full time?” McGonagall asked.
Emily thought for a moment. “Would it be possible to come every day, but not stay here?” Emily asked slowly. “Like I’d show up for every class, but I wouldn’t actually live here,” she explained quickly. Emily looked away from McGonagall and up at Dumbledore.
“I think it could be arranged, especially with Tonks always being there,” Dumbledore said with a nod. McGonagall pursed her lips, but didn’t voice her opinions.
“Thank you, professor,” Emily said quietly.
“Alright, let’s see, you should be cleared to take all of your classes, Weasley. Now, it is going to be a bit difficult if you want to be both a Healer and an Auror,” McGonagall started.
“I’ve been thinking about that, professor. I think I’m just going to concentrate on being an Auror,” Emily interjected. McGonagall studied her a moment before nodding.
“Then yes, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, Potions, and Transfiguration are all fine. I must say that I was very pleased with your Transfiguration score. You and Miss Granger are the only ones who made perfect scores.” McGonagall smiled slightly before looking back down at her schedule. “Here’s your new schedule,” she said as she waved her hand over a new schedule to get rid of the Healer parts of the classes. Emily took the schedule from her outstretched hand and smiled at it.
“Thank you,” Emily said.
“I suggest you go to get your school supplies today. Don’t be late for your first class tomorrow,” McGonagall said as she left the room. Emily nodded and then glanced at Dumbledore. He examined her over his glasses.
“That will be all for now, Emily. I will be seeing you soon,” he smiled at her. She noticed that he looked a bit sad as she left the office.
She made her way outside, deciding she’d go and sit by the Black Lake before she went shopping. She sat underneath her tree and watched the Giant Squid throw around a seventh year. She smiled as she thought about all of the fun times she had out here.
“Glancing down memory lane?” asked a voice quietly from behind her. She jumped a little before turning her head. “Follow me,” he whispered. He turned on the spot and began walking toward the forest, away from any onlookers.
Emily glanced around, hesitating. Sighing, she stood up and followed Draco into the forest. She cursed herself mentally for her decisions, but stuck by it.
“What do you want?” she asked quietly as she came to a stop behind some shrubs.
“Advice,” he whispered.
“About?” she asked.
“Thanks for the invitation by the way. I guess congratulations are in order,” he whispered, staring at her wedding band.
Emily shifted her feet uncomfortably before meeting Draco’s eyes. They were cold and hollow, but she also sensed that he was afraid. “What’s happened to you, Draco?” she whispered as she stared at his worry line above his eyebrows. His hair was more unkempt than usual and he was even paler than normal.
“Nothing you need to worry about,” he said coldly.
Emily huffed. “I don’t know what’s going on, but—”
“Exactly, you don’t know what’s going on. So, don’t go trying to put in your two cents, Emily. You don’t get that say anymore,” he replied.
Emily looked at him for a long while before breaking the silence. “You’re right. So, why don’t you go ask Pansy for advice,” she said as she walked off, leaving him alone in the forest.
Deciding she wasn’t in the mood for anymore unwanted company, she left the Hogwarts grounds and walked through Hogsmeade. She didn’t linger with Tonks and went to the Three Broomsticks. She ordered herself a Firewhiskey and found a small, round table by the back.
Taking a swig, Emily’s throat burned at the taste. She recognized a few Hogwarts’ professors. She couldn’t remember their names because she never took any of their classes. They all glanced at her from time to time. Evidently, they knew her. She couldn’t take the looks anymore and left the pub. She made her way over to a bench in the middle of the square. She sprawled across it, her bottle in her hand, as she watched the different clouds configure in the sky.
“This isn’t the safest place for you, you know,” a voice said from behind her.
GOOD GIRL!
Give Draco what he asked for!
WOO! Go Emily Weasley!
And WHO is that behind her?
Nothing had better happen to her!
I don't want to think about what George will do!
PAMS, Emily, PAMS!
I can't wait for the next bit! YOU LOTS!

Hello Emily. I'm so glad Emily is going to take full time classes.

I figured she would drop one of her objectives. I was just hoping it would be Auror she dropped. But, had a strong feeling it would be Healer.

You sure know how to put suspense in your story! I'm thinking that Draco knows there's no chance of getting Emily. He swallowed his pride to ask her advice. So, it must be important. Of course he's going to be short and rude to her. Her payment for making him swallow his pride and ask her for advice. I'm wishing she would have listened to him and found out what he wanted.
She should be careful drinking.

Now, you've got me thinking all kinds of curiosities here! I'm wondering who would walk up behind her and speak? Sounds like something Lucius Malfoy would do. Why would he want to torment her though.

Yeah, I guess she just wanted to be more in the action type...

Er, You'll find out later.

Hehe, thanks... Well it is sixth year, if that helps...

I 'm sure she's capable of doing both but it's probably best for her to concentrate on the one

New post time! Are you ready to find out who the mystery person is?
“This isn’t the safest place for you, you know,” a voice said from behind her. Emily tilted her head back to look upside down at the man. His robes were dingy and patched. He smiled crookedly at her, his scars on his face popping against his pale skin. His hair blew in the wind as she slowly stood up from the bench. Her Firewhiskey dropped from her hand, breaking as it hit the cement.
“Am I dreaming?” she whispered as a tear welled up in her eye. He shook his head and Emily jumped on him, tightly wrapping her arms around his neck.
He laughed his throaty laugh as he hugged her back. “I’ve missed you too, Ems,” Remus said as he kissed her hair. Remus Lupin twirled her around in the air, like he did when she was five. She chuckled as he gently placed her back on the ground.
“I’ve missed you so much, Rems,” she said quietly. He smiled down at her, his form much thinner.
“Are you hungry? Or did that Firewhiskey fill you up?” he asked as he put his arm around her shoulders.
“Funny,” she said with a sarcastic smile. “I could go for lunch,” she smiled.
“Lunch it is,” he laughed. Emily wrapped her arm around his waist.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming home?” she asked.
“I wanted to surprise you,” he chuckled.
“You succeeded,” Emily laughed. Remus bent over and kissed the top of her head. “So, where are we going?” Emily asked.
“Home,” he said with a smile.
“How did you know where I was?” she asked curiously.
“I went to the joke shop and George told me you had to go to the school today. So, I went up to the school and saw Tonks, who told me you already left and looked a little down. So, I figured it out,” he smiled. “I know you enough that when you’re down, you go to the Three Broomsticks.” She looked up at him and frowned slightly.
Hearing Tonks’ name reminded her of something. “How long did you and Tonks talk?”
“Only long enough for her to tell me where you were,” he said indifferently.
“What did you talk about before you got to the subject of me?”
“Nothing, it went straight to you,” he said.
Emily thought about it. She could just ask him about his promise, but she didn’t want to. She didn’t want disappointment, she didn’t want to fight, and she didn’t want Tonks to be right. So, she bit her tongue and convinced herself that she was right, not Tonks.
After they walked around Hogsmeade for a while, Remus Apparated them home. They walked through the front door and Remus switched on the lights.
“Home sweet home,” he whispered. Emily chuckled lightly as she took her shoes off. Remus took the stairs two at a time as he went to change into something more comfortable.
Emily walked into the kitchen to look for something edible. She saw a note on the fridge with her name on the top.
Ems, I had a feeling Remus and you would want to eat and I knew he didn’t have anything edible, so I took the liberty of going out and getting some food for you. I love you, and I’ll see you tonight at home hopefully.
George
Emily smiled as she peeled the note from the fridge and put it on top of the counter. She opened the freezer and took out some barbeque chicken. She let them thaw out as she put some baked potatoes in the oven. She took out her wand to speed things up and had everything cooking by the time Remus came down the stairs.
“Mmmm, where’d the food come from?” Remus said as he sniffed the air.
“The world’s greatest husband,” Emily smiled. Remus chuckled lightly as he pulled out some tea bags to make some sweet tea.
Emily and Remus decided to eat in the living room, relaxing as they caught up on everything. He congratulated her on her O.W.L.s and the finishing of her house.
“You’ll have to come over for dinner tonight and see it,” Emily said before taking a sip of her tea.
“Sure, sure, who’s all coming over?” he asked.
“I don’t know. Who do you want to come over?” Emily asked with a grin.
“Don’t invite her, Ems,” Remus whispered.
Emily frowned slightly. “Why not?”
“It’s not going to happen, and I’d really not want a big scene tonight. Just, for me, don’t invite her,” he said quietly.
“Okay, if that’s what you really want,” Emily said as she glanced back at the TV screen. They were watching a rerun of Family Feud. “Newspaper!” she shouted at the screen after the host asked what could be found outside by the front door of a house.
“Welcome mat is number one,” Remus said. Emily shook her head with a grin.
“No way! Newspaper is number one!” Emily disagreed.
“We’ll see,” Remus chuckled. The next person up said welcome mat and Remus glanced over at Emily as the number one answer revealed welcome mat.
“Oh, shut it,” she laughed. Remus chuckled at her and then bit into a piece of chicken.
Emily and Remus joined George and Fred for dinner at Emily and George’s house after they shopped for her schoolbooks in Diagon Alley. Remus took a tour of the newly redone house. He commended them on their taste, asking who would be filling up those rooms. They all laughed and joked, having a good time. Remus stayed for the night, but left before anyone woke up the next morning. He left Emily a note saying that it was easier if there weren’t any good-byes. She cried silently into George’s neck until it was time to go to school. She wanted to get there a little earlier than necessary and get some reading done.
“Hi, Tonks,” Emily said quietly as she approached the gate.
“Are you okay?” Tonks asked as she moved towards the gate.
“Not really. Remus left this morning without saying goodbye,” Emily explained.
“I’m sorry, Ems,” Tonks whispered as she moved over and hugged Emily. Emily hugged her back lightly, gave her a small smile, and then walked away. Emily made her way over to her tree and sat beneath it, pulling out her Charms book. She began reading about nonverbal spells until it was time to get to class.
*Alrighty, tell me whatchya think See, Remus is fine
Okay...
I love the post but Remus needs to see what he's doing to Emily...
She's already lost one dad and now she's worried about losing the other.
I think George should find a way of talking to him!
Or maybe, everybody's favourite teenage metamorphagus should pop up! YOU EMS!
