Alrighty, so this is my first go at a fanfic and I hope I don't disappoint. This story adds a character to the Wizarding World. It will stay as close to canon as possible but will have to adjust a bit to the new character. This story also shows a new side to Lupin. The main character is Sirius' daughter and Lupin's Goddaughter, which also brings me to the fact that Lupin wasn't ever homeless or alone... At least not in my story... EVERYTHING in the Wizarding world belongs to the amazing, incredible JK Rowling, except of course the character I invented. The locations, people, etc. are hers and only hers. So, here goes.

Prologue:
On a dark and misty night, in Surrey, a baby boy was being taken to his Aunt and Uncle’s house. His parents had just been murdered by the greatest evil ever seen, and he was now an orphan. But this is not a story about Harry James Potter, The Boy Who Lived. This story takes place a few hours later, in Shell Cottage, where a baby girl was being transferred to her Godfather’s.
A tabby looking cat with squared markings shaping her eyes stood on the corner of Shell Cottage and Sandy Lane. She had been on that same corner for a little over an hour. Glancing around, she shivered once and then rested her eyes upon a deserted patch of pavement right under a lamppost. After what seemed like ten minutes, there was a flicker of movement from a nearby bush. A man in long dress-robes and a pointed wizard’s hat stepped out into the light and clicked a cigarette lighter look alike. The closest light went out. After clicking it multiple times, the whole street was completely black. In the strange looking man’s other arm was a bundle of pink blankets with the softest sound of heavy breathing. The tabby cat transformed, for a second time that night, into her “human form.”
“Good Evening, Professor Dumbledore,” stated the witch as she walked up to him, her emerald robes billowing out behind her.
“Good Evening, or shall I say morning, Professor McGonagall,” smiled the tall wizard. “Long time, no see,” he chuckled.
“Albus, is it true? Did Sirius really betray them? His best friend, Albus?”
“I’m afraid the truth is not always easily seen, Minerva. We may never know what has truly happened. But, what I do know is that Sirius was found in a street with twelve muggles dead and only a finger left of Peter Pettigrew. He has been taken to Azkaban, and Amelia, going after him, found herself in the crossfire. I don’t know if Sirius will ever be able to forgive himself for that.”
“What will happen to Emily?”
“That, Minerva, is what brings us to another neighborhood tonight. I think it will be best if we take her to her godfather’s house. I think he will want to take her.”
“First Harry and now Emily; what has the world come to?”
“Ahh, Minerva, let’s not dwell upon the unpleasant. Once again, think of what has happened. He is gone, for now at least.”
“So, you don’t think he’s gone for good?”
“Only time can tell. Shall we get her inside?” asked Dumbledore, indicating the pink bundles in his hand.
The witch nodded, and they glided down the street. As they walked, they felt the light breeze linger in the air. The smell of the ocean swirled around them, stinging their nostrils a bit. Staying on the out-skirt of the street, they rounded right before stopping in front of a white cottage with flowers outlining the walk to the door. There was a dim light through one of the upstairs’ windows. Dumbledore and McGonagall made their way to the door, then knocked three times. While they waited, Dumbledore hummed a show tune and McGonagall stared at the baby they were about to hand off. They heard footsteps echo through the house, lights flipping on as they grew louder. The footsteps stopped and a man’s eyes could be seen peeping out the curtain. After realizing whom it was, a mediocre, straggly man with wild hair and deep circles under his green eyes opened the door.
“Albus, Minerva, what brings you to my neck of the woods?” asked the man, eyeing the two. He then noticed the pink blankets. His eyes widened and he nearly choked. “No, it can’t be. There’s been a mistake. Please tell me it’s not that, anything but that. They’re not...”
Albus held up his hand. “Dear boy, we can’t afford to lose you too, please calm down, Remus. Everything will be all right. May we enter?” Albus asked.
The man named Remus motioned for them to enter. After closing the door behind them, he made his way to the living room. Minerva and Albus sat side-by-side on the long couch while Remus took the armchair opposite them. Minerva took the baby girl from Albus’ hands and rocked her gently. Remus leaned his head back against the chair; he looked ghastly. He had turned pale white and was shaking slightly. Opening his eyes, he looked over at the pink blankets where he knew his goddaughter was hiding.
“Remus, we need to talk about a few things,” stated Dumbledore softly, but sternly. Remus nodded so Dumbledore continued. “Sirius was found in the middle of a street with his wand; twelve muggles are dead, but that’s not all. Not only muggles were in that street.” Albus was staring into Remus’ eyes with a sad expression. He felt sorry for Remus Lupin; he was about to tell him that he has lost all of his best friends—James, Peter, and even Sirius in some ways. Remus nodded, as if knowing what was about to be said. “It was believed that Peter Pettigrew searched for Sirius tonight to kill him for his betrayal against James and Lily. All they found of Pettigrew was his finger. Also, Amelia; she heard that Sirius might have been in trouble. She went after him and got blasted in the crossfire. I’m so sorry, Remus, I know this is difficult for you,” Dumbledore continued.
Silence followed after Dumbledore finished. Remus had tears welling up in his eyes. He couldn’t believe it. Prongs was dead. Lily was dead. Wormtail was dead. Amelia was dead. Padfoot was in Azkaban for causing the deaths. Everything was crumbling around him. He let a few tears escape before wiping them off. McGonagall took a tissue from the inside of her robes and sniffled behind it. She, too, was crying. Remus got out of his chair and knelt down in front of Professor McGonagall, looking at his goddaughter intently. A pale pink hand dropped out of the pink bundles, and Remus reached up, putting his forefinger inside it. The little fist closed around Remus’ finger.
“Albus, what happens to Emily?” asked Remus, looking up. He searched the old man’s face.
“She doesn’t have any living grandparents, Remus. She is your goddaughter, so I thought we might give you a chance to take her. If you do not wish to take responsibility, we understand and will take her to an orphanage first thing tomorrow morning,” stated Dumbledore.
“Of course I’ll take her,” said Remus without thinking.
“She is going to be a great responsibility, Remus, are you absolutely positive?” asked Professor McGonagall.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Minerva,” stated Remus determinedly.
“It’s settled then. I will need you to sign a few papers, just saying that you will be her guardian and what not, and we will be on our way,” smiled Dumbledore.
Remus nodded his head and motioned for the old wizard to follow him to the kitchen to sign the papers. McGonagall stayed in the living room with the baby girl sound asleep. Flipping the lights as he went, the tabby looking man sat at the head of the table, Dumbledore sitting on his left. Dumbledore rummaged in his cloak for a second, then pulled out a long stick. With a flick of his wand, some papers, a quill, and ink appeared. Remus looked into Dumbledore’s eyes and had the feeling that he was being x-rayed; like Dumbledore could see right through him. The old wizard gave him a small smile, nodding a bit.
“Sign here and here.” Dumbledore indicated to two lines then pushed the papers towards Remus.
Remus signed the papers, and with the flick of his wand, Dumbledore made the papers once again disappear.
“Is that all?” Remus asked.
“Yes, that will be all for now. I believe the ministry is looking over Amelia’s will and then they will be in touch shortly. Now, I believe we will let you and your goddaughter get some rest. Best wishes and if you were to need anything, please don’t hesitate to send an owl.” The old wizard pushed his chair out and stood up. Walking into the other room, he stated, “Minerva, I think it may be time for us to leave and not intrude on Mr. Lupin any longer.”
Standing up, the petite witch looked over to Lupin and took half a step. Remus met her the rest of the way and took the baby girl in his hands, balancing all of her weight evenly. The tabby wizard walked his guests to the door and bid them a goodnight. He watched as the two disappeared down the dark street. Closing the blinds, Remus Lupin walked up his stairs to his bedroom, flipping lights off as he went.
Pulling out his wand with his right hand, as his left was preoccupied, he waved it. A blur of pink and green scurried around the room, and after a few seconds, the silence prevailed. Trudging over to the pink crib by his bed, he sat the pink bundles down. He pulled a green blanket, which was engraved with ‘Emily J. R. A. S. Black,’ over the side of the crib and tucked Emily into it. Sighing, he sat down on the edge of his bed. Taking off his worn out tennis shoes, he glanced at the clock. It was after 2AM. It’s been a long day, he thought. Turning the lamp by his bed off, he lay back on his pillows and fell asleep to the soft breathing of the other life that he vowed to protect.

Emily sat with Ginny at the match. She and George had not quite made up, but she did hear that her animosity toward him brought Angelina closer to George. The sun beat down on Emily’s hair, causing it to shine. She glanced around at everybody decked out in red and gold. They started to chant “LIONS FOR THE CUP!” as their team walked onto the lawn. Emily clapped feebly as she watched George and Angelina walk out together. The sight made her want to puke.
Emily watched the excitement of the game unfold. From Angelina nearly being thrown off her broom from Flint, to Alicia scoring a penalty shot while Wood saved the other team’s penalty shot. Then there was a Slytherin chaser grabbing Katie’s head instead of the Quaffle and both Beaters trying to close in on Harry. Emily clapped and cheered, but her heart really wasn’t in it. She watched with a smile on her face as Harry beat Malfoy to the Snitch. They had won the Cup, and everyone was ecstatic.
June came, and with it were the exams. Fred and George would be taking their O.W.L.s. Emily was studying for Transfiguration and Charms like crazy. As soon as exam week began, Emily was in the zone. If you bothered her when she was studying, she most likely snapped at you to study as well. Hermione and she normally studied together because their study techniques were quite alike. She felt like she did quite well in Charms. Her teapot for Transfiguration turned into quite the cute little tortoise. McGonagall even let her keep it because of how fond she had become of it. Care of Magical Creatures was a breeze. All they had to do was make sure their flobberworm was still alive by the end of the hour.
Emily was pretty sure that her Confusing Concoction for Potions was fairly right, but you never knew with Snape’s expectations. And then there was Astronomy. Emily loved Astronomy—especially since she spent so much time outside at night, under the stars. She scribbled down everything she could on her chart, only getting confused on two different constellations. History of Magic was on Wednesday morning, and she stayed up most of the night studying every note she’d taken. After lunch was Herbology. She wasn’t all that thrilled about that one.
On Thursday morning, she had Defense Against the Dark Arts. Having been doing the private lessons with Remus, she was able to excel in his exam, which had a Boggart in it. It was her last exam, having dropped Divination. Afterwards, she enjoyed her lunch and went and took a well-needed nap.
Emily awoke in time for dinner. She freshened up in the bathroom before making her way to the Great Hall. She noticed Fred, George, and Lee walking a little ahead of herself. Emily jogged to catch up to them.
“Hey, guys,” Emily said.
“Oh, so you’re talking to people again,” George asked sulkily.
“Since my exams are over, I thought it would be safe,” Emily joked. Only Fred and Lee chuckled. George didn’t find it too comical at all. Emily sighed.
Emily and George ate in silence as Fred and Lee tried everything to get them into the conversation, but they were both too stubborn.
It was the night of the full moon, and Emily had every intention of going down to spend it with Remus—just like every time. Except this time, when she made her way down there and transformed into her animagus, Remus was nowhere to be found. Emily panicked. The full moon was already up and Remus should have been in the classroom, in his werewolf form, waiting on her.
She was on her way to Dumbledore’s office when George bumped into her. He looked grumpy and moody, and Emily didn’t have time to find out what was going on.
“George, have you seen...Remus?” she asked hesitantly.
“Nope,” he said. And then she heard it. It was a howl from the forest. The hair on the back of Emily’s neck rose and she had Goosebumps crawling up her arms. The howl sounded again, and then it was his howl. Emily wasn’t sure whose howls the first two were, but she knew they weren’t Remus’. Emily stared in horror through the window for a moment longer before she bolted down the hall. Emily ran as fast as her legs could take her to the forest, to Remus. She faintly noticed George running right beside her, yelling at her.
“Where are you going?” he yelled.
“Go back inside, George!” she yelled back.
“What’s going on?” he shouted.
“It’s too dangerous for you out here! Go back inside!” she yelled in panic.
“If it’s too dangerous, I’m not leaving you!” he shouted.
Emily didn’t have time to argue. She didn’t have time to think about how she was leading him to his death. All she could think about was getting to Remus.
“George, you have to trust me!”
“I do trust you!” he yelled.
“Then stay here! Don’t go in the forest! Please, for me!” she yelled.
George glanced at her. He couldn’t just let her go into the Forbidden Forest alone. But she seemed sure—she seemed serious. He slowed down to a stop. She yelled back something that he couldn’t hear and he waited. He decided that if she wasn’t back in fifteen minutes, he was going in after her.
Emily ran as fast as her legs could take her. As soon as she was beyond the protection of the trees and shrubs, she changed into her animagi form. Her fur bristled in the wind and she took a deep breath. She took a whiff of the air and ran deep into the forest. Using her senses, she fought her way through the branches and the thorns.

Emily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fabtastical!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I read both posts and am very happy with both of them. I can't comment but just long enough to say You're great! I'm so scared for Remus! Why didn't he wait for Emily? Is something going on? Does Dumbledore know? Why couldn't he wait for Emily!?!?!?!? Don't let George follow her in fifteen minutes!
What ever happened to the front doors being locked at night?!
Great posts Emily! Can't wait to read the next!
I guess I'll let you know what's happening New post!
Five minutes into the forest, Emily smelled people. She slowed down in time to see Hermione and Harry run fast through the trees to get to the safety of the grounds. Buckbeak was behind them. Emily tilted her head to the side as she watched the three run, not even noticing her. And then she heard other movement. It had to be Remus and her nose backed her up on that conclusion.
Emily stretched her furry legs as far as they could go, but she still felt like it wasn’t fast enough. He was running around, possibly going after something. She howled, making him turn round. He bared his teeth at her and she growled in return. Sniffing the air, she smelt blood. Whose blood—she wasn’t sure. Emily was growing angry. What exactly could have made him leave his office tonight? What exactly could have brought him out here where he’s already hurt something or someone? Remus started coming toward her, so she started running. She ran around the forest, allowing him to chase her. She thought about turning and attacking him, but thought better of it because he could easily take her out. She ran in deep circles, making sure to never get close to the outskirts of the forest. Remus hesitated behind her, so she looked back at him. He was standing tall—he got a whiff of something. Panicking, Emily barked to get back his attention. Remus paid no attention to her. He started jogging the opposite way, sniffing a few of the trees. And then, the wind rushed by and Emily smelled it too—George. He had come after her.
Emily flat out ran in the direction that she thought he would be. She was well ahead of Remus. Within minutes, she found him, shivering madly, whispering her name over and over. He looked frightened, but not for himself, for her. George looked straight at her and froze. Emily glanced over her shoulder. They had a few minutes before her Godfather would show up. Emily transformed back into her human form.
“Whoa! What the—how did you—what’s going on?” George finally got out.
“George, you have to get out of here! It’s not safe!” she said, flustered.
“Emily, I came in here to find you and I’m not leaving without you! Let’s just get out of here,” George pleaded.
“It’s more complicated than that, George. Look I can’t explain right now, but I will tomorrow. You need to get out of the forest and go straight inside. Find Dumbledore and tell him that I’m out here. He’ll understand. Please, George,” Emily said, moving over to him. George took hold of her hands.
“Let’s go together,” he begged.
“George, we don’t have—CRAP!” Emily yelled loudly.
“What?” George asked in alarm. He moved his body closer to hers as she glanced behind her.
“We have to move! NOW!” she screeched as she held tightly to his hand and started running.
“What is going on, Emily? What’s after us?” George shouted as he tried to not trip over roots and rocks.
“It’s Remus!” she shouted back.
George tried to slow down but Emily wouldn’t allow it. “If this is about your grounding, I think he’ll understand,” George said.
“George, there’s something I’ve never told you, but in this circumstance, I think it’s best to tell you. He’s a werewolf,” Emily said.
George picked up the pace and started running faster. “Why didn’t you ever tell me?” he asked.
“It wasn’t my secret to tell,” she explained.
“And the animagus part?”
“It kind of went with the werewolf part. I’m sorry, but is now really the time for this?” she asked.
“I guess not,” he said shortly.
“George, we’re not going to be able to outrun him for long. You’re going to have to go on without me!” she yelled.
“I’m not leaving you in here. If you stay, I stay. You go, I go,” George said stubbornly.
“George, please! I can stop Remus in my animagus form but not if you’re around. Besides, we can’t lead him back to the school grounds. He has to stay in the forest. Please, for me, do this,” she begged.
Emily listened as the leaves behind them started rustling and crunching. They heard an ear splintering howl from her Godfather, causing the two of them to speed up. It was her dream all over again, except this time it wasn’t a dream. George glanced at her once, squeezed her hand, and then let go. George sped up, pulling out his wand. He shouted something that Emily didn’t hear as she turned back into her white wolf. She turned on her paw and bared her teeth at the werewolf, at her Godfather. He ran at her, trying to get beyond her to the boy that was getting on his summoned broom, flying off.
The white wolf and the werewolf wrestled for a little while before Emily could convince him to follow her again. They ran through the trees, crunching leaves, breaking branches, and creating paths upon the forest floor.
Hello Emily! Long time no see! NOT! I'll tell you what I thought. I'm glad the chapter wasn't longer than I can hold my breath, cause I held it the whole time! That was a very clever and masterfully written chapter. I'm so glad George got out of there. To bad she had to stay in there and not let Remus get Harry and Hermione. She could have rode off on Georges broom with him. But, she wouldn't want Remus to come around without her. Poor Emily is going to be one tired puppy when this night is over.

At least we know there isn't any problem with his hearing. He just didn't listen, when she told him to trust her and not to follow.
Great post Emily. I'll be waiting for your next.

Er, no, it's not over. I'm doing all years, but 4 and 5 are more like snippets. I'm only doing a few things for both of those. And 6 and 7 will be a little bit longer, but nowhere near as long as year 3 So, y'all aren't quite near being finished yet. I'm in the midst of writing 6 and 7
