Alrighty, so this is my first go at a fanfic and I hope I don't disappoint. This story adds a character to the Wizarding World. It will stay as close to canon as possible but will have to adjust a bit to the new character. This story also shows a new side to Lupin. The main character is Sirius' daughter and Lupin's Goddaughter, which also brings me to the fact that Lupin wasn't ever homeless or alone... At least not in my story... EVERYTHING in the Wizarding world belongs to the amazing, incredible JK Rowling, except of course the character I invented. The locations, people, etc. are hers and only hers. So, here goes.

Prologue:
On a dark and misty night, in Surrey, a baby boy was being taken to his Aunt and Uncle’s house. His parents had just been murdered by the greatest evil ever seen, and he was now an orphan. But this is not a story about Harry James Potter, The Boy Who Lived. This story takes place a few hours later, in Shell Cottage, where a baby girl was being transferred to her Godfather’s.
A tabby looking cat with squared markings shaping her eyes stood on the corner of Shell Cottage and Sandy Lane. She had been on that same corner for a little over an hour. Glancing around, she shivered once and then rested her eyes upon a deserted patch of pavement right under a lamppost. After what seemed like ten minutes, there was a flicker of movement from a nearby bush. A man in long dress-robes and a pointed wizard’s hat stepped out into the light and clicked a cigarette lighter look alike. The closest light went out. After clicking it multiple times, the whole street was completely black. In the strange looking man’s other arm was a bundle of pink blankets with the softest sound of heavy breathing. The tabby cat transformed, for a second time that night, into her “human form.”
“Good Evening, Professor Dumbledore,” stated the witch as she walked up to him, her emerald robes billowing out behind her.
“Good Evening, or shall I say morning, Professor McGonagall,” smiled the tall wizard. “Long time, no see,” he chuckled.
“Albus, is it true? Did Sirius really betray them? His best friend, Albus?”
“I’m afraid the truth is not always easily seen, Minerva. We may never know what has truly happened. But, what I do know is that Sirius was found in a street with twelve muggles dead and only a finger left of Peter Pettigrew. He has been taken to Azkaban, and Amelia, going after him, found herself in the crossfire. I don’t know if Sirius will ever be able to forgive himself for that.”
“What will happen to Emily?”
“That, Minerva, is what brings us to another neighborhood tonight. I think it will be best if we take her to her godfather’s house. I think he will want to take her.”
“First Harry and now Emily; what has the world come to?”
“Ahh, Minerva, let’s not dwell upon the unpleasant. Once again, think of what has happened. He is gone, for now at least.”
“So, you don’t think he’s gone for good?”
“Only time can tell. Shall we get her inside?” asked Dumbledore, indicating the pink bundles in his hand.
The witch nodded, and they glided down the street. As they walked, they felt the light breeze linger in the air. The smell of the ocean swirled around them, stinging their nostrils a bit. Staying on the out-skirt of the street, they rounded right before stopping in front of a white cottage with flowers outlining the walk to the door. There was a dim light through one of the upstairs’ windows. Dumbledore and McGonagall made their way to the door, then knocked three times. While they waited, Dumbledore hummed a show tune and McGonagall stared at the baby they were about to hand off. They heard footsteps echo through the house, lights flipping on as they grew louder. The footsteps stopped and a man’s eyes could be seen peeping out the curtain. After realizing whom it was, a mediocre, straggly man with wild hair and deep circles under his green eyes opened the door.
“Albus, Minerva, what brings you to my neck of the woods?” asked the man, eyeing the two. He then noticed the pink blankets. His eyes widened and he nearly choked. “No, it can’t be. There’s been a mistake. Please tell me it’s not that, anything but that. They’re not...”
Albus held up his hand. “Dear boy, we can’t afford to lose you too, please calm down, Remus. Everything will be all right. May we enter?” Albus asked.
The man named Remus motioned for them to enter. After closing the door behind them, he made his way to the living room. Minerva and Albus sat side-by-side on the long couch while Remus took the armchair opposite them. Minerva took the baby girl from Albus’ hands and rocked her gently. Remus leaned his head back against the chair; he looked ghastly. He had turned pale white and was shaking slightly. Opening his eyes, he looked over at the pink blankets where he knew his goddaughter was hiding.
“Remus, we need to talk about a few things,” stated Dumbledore softly, but sternly. Remus nodded so Dumbledore continued. “Sirius was found in the middle of a street with his wand; twelve muggles are dead, but that’s not all. Not only muggles were in that street.” Albus was staring into Remus’ eyes with a sad expression. He felt sorry for Remus Lupin; he was about to tell him that he has lost all of his best friends—James, Peter, and even Sirius in some ways. Remus nodded, as if knowing what was about to be said. “It was believed that Peter Pettigrew searched for Sirius tonight to kill him for his betrayal against James and Lily. All they found of Pettigrew was his finger. Also, Amelia; she heard that Sirius might have been in trouble. She went after him and got blasted in the crossfire. I’m so sorry, Remus, I know this is difficult for you,” Dumbledore continued.
Silence followed after Dumbledore finished. Remus had tears welling up in his eyes. He couldn’t believe it. Prongs was dead. Lily was dead. Wormtail was dead. Amelia was dead. Padfoot was in Azkaban for causing the deaths. Everything was crumbling around him. He let a few tears escape before wiping them off. McGonagall took a tissue from the inside of her robes and sniffled behind it. She, too, was crying. Remus got out of his chair and knelt down in front of Professor McGonagall, looking at his goddaughter intently. A pale pink hand dropped out of the pink bundles, and Remus reached up, putting his forefinger inside it. The little fist closed around Remus’ finger.
“Albus, what happens to Emily?” asked Remus, looking up. He searched the old man’s face.
“She doesn’t have any living grandparents, Remus. She is your goddaughter, so I thought we might give you a chance to take her. If you do not wish to take responsibility, we understand and will take her to an orphanage first thing tomorrow morning,” stated Dumbledore.
“Of course I’ll take her,” said Remus without thinking.
“She is going to be a great responsibility, Remus, are you absolutely positive?” asked Professor McGonagall.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Minerva,” stated Remus determinedly.
“It’s settled then. I will need you to sign a few papers, just saying that you will be her guardian and what not, and we will be on our way,” smiled Dumbledore.
Remus nodded his head and motioned for the old wizard to follow him to the kitchen to sign the papers. McGonagall stayed in the living room with the baby girl sound asleep. Flipping the lights as he went, the tabby looking man sat at the head of the table, Dumbledore sitting on his left. Dumbledore rummaged in his cloak for a second, then pulled out a long stick. With a flick of his wand, some papers, a quill, and ink appeared. Remus looked into Dumbledore’s eyes and had the feeling that he was being x-rayed; like Dumbledore could see right through him. The old wizard gave him a small smile, nodding a bit.
“Sign here and here.” Dumbledore indicated to two lines then pushed the papers towards Remus.
Remus signed the papers, and with the flick of his wand, Dumbledore made the papers once again disappear.
“Is that all?” Remus asked.
“Yes, that will be all for now. I believe the ministry is looking over Amelia’s will and then they will be in touch shortly. Now, I believe we will let you and your goddaughter get some rest. Best wishes and if you were to need anything, please don’t hesitate to send an owl.” The old wizard pushed his chair out and stood up. Walking into the other room, he stated, “Minerva, I think it may be time for us to leave and not intrude on Mr. Lupin any longer.”
Standing up, the petite witch looked over to Lupin and took half a step. Remus met her the rest of the way and took the baby girl in his hands, balancing all of her weight evenly. The tabby wizard walked his guests to the door and bid them a goodnight. He watched as the two disappeared down the dark street. Closing the blinds, Remus Lupin walked up his stairs to his bedroom, flipping lights off as he went.
Pulling out his wand with his right hand, as his left was preoccupied, he waved it. A blur of pink and green scurried around the room, and after a few seconds, the silence prevailed. Trudging over to the pink crib by his bed, he sat the pink bundles down. He pulled a green blanket, which was engraved with ‘Emily J. R. A. S. Black,’ over the side of the crib and tucked Emily into it. Sighing, he sat down on the edge of his bed. Taking off his worn out tennis shoes, he glanced at the clock. It was after 2AM. It’s been a long day, he thought. Turning the lamp by his bed off, he lay back on his pillows and fell asleep to the soft breathing of the other life that he vowed to protect.
Awe, boy, I just don't know for sure, but I'm thinking Emily needs to heed Draco's advice and warning. I've never been fond of Draco, (hope the Draco fan club doesn't get me for saying that) but I have to admit, he doesn't usually waste his breath or time on saying untruthful things. But then again, Cody seems like a nice guy. Somethings you can't pretend, and blushing after a kiss is one of them. It could be that he is trying to change his ways, and really likes Emily. But still, on the other hand, where is the magic she was expecting when he kissed her. I'm glad I don't have to be the one living this, and I'm glad I'm not the one writing this. I am glad it is you writing it for us to read and find out whatever you decide. Great post Emily. I'll be watching for your next post.
Wh...what??? You...you don't like Draco? haha, jk. I think we've actually had this conversation before... THat's okay, more for me I like him when he's nice.

IS that what it seems like??? *strokes imaginary beard*

Emily grabbed a compartment with Cody and Ginny on the train. Remus had left earlier than she had by apparating from Hogsmeade to prepare for the full moon that was approaching. Cody and Emily sat awkwardly beside each other, holding hands. Ginny sat across from them, grinning occasionally at Emily when Cody wasn’t looking. After about an hour on the train, Ginny excused herself from the compartment to get some sweets from the food trolley.
“Cody, we need to talk,” Emily said. She had been thinking about their kiss the entire time, and came up with the conclusion that they had no chemistry.
“Good, because there’s something I need to talk to you about too,” he said, releasing her hand.
“Er, you first,” said Emily.
“No, please, ladies first.”
“Er, okay, but I’m not sure how you’re going to take this. But I can’t just not tell you.” Emily hesitated as Cody just nodded. “When we kissed, Cody, I just didn’t feel the spark.” Emily waited, and to her surprise, Cody sighed in relief.
“You didn’t feel it either?” Cody asked with a smile.
“No, you didn’t feel it?” Cody shook his head. “Thank the gods! Now I feel better, no offense or anything.”
“None taken.”
“So, I, er, guess we’ll just be friends,” Emily said with a smile.
“Sounds great!” exclaimed Cody.
“Good, now, if you don’t mind, I’m going to see if I can catch up with Ginny and get some food. Do you want anything?”
“Nah, I’m good. Actually, if you don’t mind, I’m going to see if I can catch up with some people. So, I guess I’ll see you around,” Cody said, standing up.
“See you around,” said Emily.
Emily stood up and Cody opened the door, motioning for her to go first. Emily turned left and Cody turned right. Half way down the hall, Emily found Ginny in a compartment with the twins and Lee. She slid the door open and stepped inside.
“Mind if I join you?” Emily asked.
“Hey, what happened to Cody?” Ginny asked.
“Er, he went to go meet up with some friends,” said Emily with a shrug.
“And left you by yourself?” asked Ginny with a frown.
“No, I was coming to find you,” replied Emily.
“What are you not telling me?” Ginny asked with curiosity.
“I, er, broke up with Cody.”
“Why on Earth would you do that? You guys seemed to be getting along fine.”
Emily sat down beside Lee and Fred. “Well, we had our first kiss today, and well, there was no spark, no chemistry.”
“How did he feel about that?” Fred asked with a grin.
“Oh shut it. He said he felt the same way,” replied Emily, slapping his knee.
“Are you okay?” asked Ginny.
“Yep,” Emily said.
“You’re not sad or upset? You’re happy, even?” Ginny asked.
Emily looked suspiciously at her and then glanced at George, Lee, and Fred. They all had this anxious look on their faces. “Why are you all looking at—” Emily then understood. They all looked down and shuffled their feet or fidgeted in some way. “Oh,” she said shortly. “Guys, look. I’m not sad or upset. I’m happy right now, or as happy as I can be. Let’s just say that La Push is in the past and I’d like to keep it there. As long as I have my friends and family by my side, then I’m good,” Emily said, looking around at all of them.
“Promise?” George asked quietly.
“I promise,” she said, staring intently at him.
They all nodded and breathed a little more easily. Emily sat back in her seat and enjoyed the rest of the ride with her favorite Weasleys and Lee.

Wow! You're fast! Thank you I promise things will get better
You're welcome and I'm glad I told you about it Thanks for reading it!
Emily, what style and grace you handled that with. It was perfect, and I feel great with the two of them the way they were honest with themselves and each other. I'm so glad you posted this before they got to the Weasley's. I just don't see how Emily could have enjoyed being there if she was Cody's girlfriend? How's come what's her face wasn't in the compartment with George? Great post Emily! I'll be watching for your next post.

Haha, I had to read that twice before I realized it was about Angelina... I thought you just put in too many apostrophes! Haha. She was with Katie in some other compartment, probably cursing Emily, but don't worry. Se won't be completely absent over their break. :evillaugh

The train station was crowded and it took Emily ten minutes just to find Remus. He was sitting on a bench, reading the Daily Prophet. He said hello to students in passing, but otherwise, his attention was completely on the Prophet.
“Watchya reading about?” Emily asked.
Remus glanced up at her and folded the paper quickly, but not quickly enough. Emily saw the front page, which featured a picture of Sirius. “Nothing in particular,” Remus responded, standing up.
“Well, I’m ready to go,” Emily said.
“Oh, good. You’ve got your trunk and Bluejeans?”
Emily pointed to the owl that was sitting on top of her luggage, which was right beside her.
“Right then, right. Alrighty, let’s hit the road,” Remus smiled. Emily grinned at him.
Glancing around, she noticed a few of her favorite red heads. “One sec, Rems. I want to say bye to Ginny.”
“Are you sure that’s the only one you want to say bye to?” Remus asked with a grin.
Emily rolled her eyes at him. “Oh shut it, will you?” Remus chuckled as she walked towards the Weasleys.
“Hey, Gin! I was just coming over to say bye. I’ll see you over the break, okay?” she said.
Ginny nodded. "You had better! Or else, Ems.” Ginny gave her one stern look before cracking into a smile.
Emily laughed and hugged her. “I’m scared now,” Emily joked.
“You should be,” Ginny chuckled.
“Whatever, I guess I’ll catch you later. Remus is waiting on me.”
“Bye!” Ginny said.
“Hey you had better come over, over break,” Fred said, giving her a hug.
“I will,” Emily promised. Fred pulled away and another red head engulfed her in a hug.
The smell of his shirt filled her nostrils. She sighed inwardly as she hugged him back. She fit in his arms perfectly, like they were made just for her. She felt home for the first time in weeks.
“I’m going to hold you to that,” George whispered in her ear. She could tell that he was smiling against her hair.
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world,” she whispered back. He finally let her go and smiled again. “I’ll see you around Georgie,” Emily said.
George smiled wider at her personal nickname for him. She was the only one allowed to call him that.
“Bye, Ems. See you soon.”
Emily waved slightly at the Weasleys and made her way back to Remus. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Angelina with her arms crossed, glaring at her. Emily smiled wider. She picked up Bluejeans as Remus took hold of her luggage.
“You seem happy,” he accused with a grin.
“I am,” Emily smiled at him.
“Glad to hear it,” Remus said.
“So, what did you get me?” Emily asked.
“A bag of coal,” Remus replied with a chuckle.
Emily laughed. “I guess great minds think alike, because that’s what you’re getting too,” Emily said.
“Oh good, we can have a cook out on the grill for dinner Christmas night,” Remus laughed.
“Sounds yummy,” Emily said.
Emily glanced back at the Hogwarts Express as she got closer to the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. She watched as the steam lifted higher and higher into the sky until it was invisible against the white clouds and pale blue mass. She sensed someone staring at her and glanced down. Draco caught her eye and gave her a curt nod and a grin to match. She smiled nervously at him and then looked back towards the barrier. Remus went through first and Emily followed after him.
Emily, that was great! I'm so happy they're all so happy. All but what's her face. Standing there pouting, and looking hateful. I wonder what's in the Profhet. When is Emily going to tell Remus about Sirius?
Emily I love how fluent you deliver your story. I never ever have to say, wait a minute what does she mean here, and try to figure things out. Keep up the great work. I'll be watching for your next post.

“Come on, Ems! Time to wake up!” Remus yelled from the living room. Emily groggily rubbed her eyes and yawned wide. She threw the covers off of her and sat up in her bed. She swung her feet over the bed and stretched. Emily glanced outside at the white grounds. Snow had fallen heavily through the night, and Emily couldn’t help but smile.
Walking to the bathroom, Emily grabbed her toothbrush from the cabinet and squeezed her toothpaste onto the brush. After she finished brushing her teeth and washing her face, Emily made her way down to the living room.
Remus was sitting by the fire, reading the Prophet. He glanced up as she walked in. “Happy Christmas!” he exclaimed with a grin.
“Happy Christmas!” Emily replied.
“Breakfast or presents first?” Remus asked.
“Presents, duh!” Emily rolled her eyes and then chuckled.
“Figures,” Remus chuckled.
Emily glanced at the tree. They had put it up the night they got home from Hogwarts. She took in a deep breath and smelled the pine needles mixed in with the dusty ornaments. She smiled as she looked back at their homemade ornaments. She noticed that the pile of presents had gotten larger from the night before.
“Stockings first,” Emily announced. She walked over to their fireplace and grabbed both stockings from their hooks. She handed Remus his while she sat down on the floor in front of his chair with hers.
Emily watched as Remus pulled his candy out of his stocking. She had also put a new pair of socks with moons in his stocking.
“Do you like the socks?” Emily asked with a grin.
He chuckled. “Oh, yes. They bring back many wonderful memories.” Emily laughed.
She opened hers next. Remus had stuffed a key ring of a white wolf, some new quills, a box of Every Flavor Beans, and other various sweets into her stocking.
“Thanks, Rems. I love the key ring,” Emily smiled.
They spent the next half-hour opening gifts from each other. Remus received new robes, shoes, and a few pieces of muggle clothing. She bought him a new book called Spells for Dummies, which they laughed at, and a new coffee mug.
Emily opened presents that contained new robes, books, and doodads. She got a broom servicing kit and sterling silver jewelry cleaner for her ring. He also bought her gift cards for all her favorite muggle shops—Aeropostle, Hollister, American Eagle, and Old Navy.
“You spent way too much, Rems,” Emily said with a frown as she held her gift cards.
“Isn’t that my line?” he asked with a chuckle. “Stop worrying, Ems. Besides, when your mother passed, she left me a small fortune too. And what better way to spend it than on her daughter?”
Emily sighed. “I guess,” she said.
Emily glanced at the small pile of presents that were left under the tree. They all had her name on it with different handwritings scrawled on the pieces of parchment. She assumed they were from Harry, Ron, and Hermione because Fred, George, and her agreed that they would exchange presents in person. Emily scooted over next to the tree and pulled out a rectangular package. She read the note scribbled on the front:
Happy Christmas, Emily!
Love, Hermione
Opening the package, Emily’s eyes widened slightly. “It’s The Breakfast Club DVD! I love this movie!” Emily squealed. Remus laughed lightly at her response. Emily hugged it to her chest, mentally reminding herself to tackle Hermione when she saw her. She gently placed it by her feet and grabbed the top one. Its note read:
Happy Christmas!
-Ron
She opened the present and unfolded a piece of cloth. Inside was a flower made from grass and another note:
Emily, I didn’t know what to get you, and Bill taught me how to make them when I was younger. You like the grass, right? I hope you like it. Happy Christmas!
Ron
Emily picked up the grass flower and smiled. She loved it; it was so beautiful. It was a flower that would never age. It could easily represent a friendship or love that would never fade. Emily pushed her hair behind her ears and nudged the grass flower behind her right ear. She smiled at Remus, who smiled back, and grabbed the next present. Opening the note on the front, she smiled.
Happy Christmas, E!
I came across it over the summer and thought you might like it...
Harry
Emily undid the tape on the back of the gift and ripped the paper off. Emily slid her hand over the glassy cover of Michael Jackson’s new album, Dangerous and Aerosmith’s new album, Get a Grip. She smiled at the two CDs, imagining listening to them.
As Emily got up to start piling her presents together, she heard a peck on the window. She glanced behind her and noticed Hermes. Remus trudged over and unlatched the window, taking the letter from the owl in the process.
“It’s for you,” he said as he gave the owl a treat.
Emily took the letter and opened it.
Emily!
Mum is having a small get together for dinner tonight for Christmas. She said I could invite you! Professor Lupin is invited too. Please come! We can exchange gifts and maybe you could spend the night. Mum said it was okay as long as your Godfather is okay with it. Write back and let us know! I love you and happy Christmas!
Love, Ginny
Emily grinned and then passed the letter to Remus. Remus knitted his eyebrows together as he read the letter. He placed it in his lap and looked up at Emily.
“Do you want to go?” Remus asked.
“Yeah, if it’s all right with you, and we don’t have anything else planned.” Emily looked up at Remus.
“Nothing planned. I was going to stop by the Morgan’s. Maggie had the baby, and I thought I’d drop off our present for them. I can drop you off at the Weasley’s and then head over to the Morgan’s.”
Emily nodded slightly. “Give the baby a kiss and Mrs. Morgan a hug for me. Are you sure you don’t mind, Rems?”
“Not in the slightest. Write Ginny back and tell her you can come and spend the night.” Remus smiled and handed Emily back her letter.
Emily went to the kitchen and wrote a reply. She sent Bluejeans out on his way. Sitting at the table, Remus made bacon and eggs with toast and anything else their hearts desired. They ate happily and then cleared the table. Remus started on dishes and Emily went upstairs to take her shower, making a mental note to spend extra time on shaving. She grabbed a towel from the linen closet and turned her water to sizzling hot. She piled on the conditioner and let it sink in while she shaved and washed her body. She rinsed the conditioner out of her hair and hugged her shoulders as the hot water splashed against her face. It soothed the tension in her shoulders and relaxed the muscles in her neck. Sighing, she turned the faucet off and grabbed the fluffy towel that was on its hook. Drying herself off, she stepped out of the tub and made her way to her bedroom.
On her windowsill was an owl. But it wasn’t just any owl; it was an eagle owl, an eagle owl that looked all too familiar. Cocking her head to the side, Emily opened her window and the owl lifted its leg, which had a letter tied to it. She undid the letter and the owl flew off. Emily watched after it for a minute before closing the window and sitting on her bed, still enveloped in her towel. She opened the letter, which read:
*dun, dun, dun!!! I thought I'd leave you on a cliffie! Tell me watchya think
I hope Draco, just wanted to wish her a Merry Christmas. He cannot interfere with her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, well, of course he can if you write it that way. I wonder why she wants to make sure she shaves extra good. Great post Emily! I'll be watching for your next post.
Everyone deserves happiness, right? Well, what if Emily could find happiness with Draco? Would you hate me?
I would not deny happiness to anyone who deserves happiness with Emily. Does Draco deserve Emily? I'm very protective of her, as she is my favorite character, and I say he doesn't qualify. I'm sure Remus and Sirius would agree. So, there is my honest opinion. Draco does deserve happiness, everyone does. He should just look somewhere else.
And about Emily looking for happiness with Draco, if she's crazy enough to look then she deserves him if she gets him.
Of course, it is your story, and you write it anyway you want. I will be loyal no matter what. And , NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would not hate you if you wrote it that way, or for any other reason. That would be aweful childish of me. Yes? I love your story. I'll be watching for your next post.
I would not deny Emily true love if she found it in Draco. LOL It's just hard to believe that could be possible. I shouldn't be hard on the poor boy, everyone does deserve happiness.
I would not deny happiness to anyone who deserves happiness with Emily. Does Draco deserve Emily?
You do make a good point. And I'm not necessarily a firm believer in second chances, but I'll give them. It just depends on what's happened. I don't think Draco does deserve her, it's just the way the story has played out in my mind...

I'm very protective of her too, and that's why I can tell you, he's not going to hurt her again. And even if he did, would it amount to the pain she's already felt from love? No. She's already been crushed to the breaking point from George, so if Draco did hurt her again, it would just be a bruise.

Bahaha, so true. That's all I'll say

I don't think I'd go as far to say true love, though, just a bit of happiness. He makes her forget everything around her when she's with him. When it's them, it's just them. So, she'll find happiness, but true love is something she'll only ever find with a certain someone...
