Alrighty, so this is my first go at a fanfic and I hope I don't disappoint. This story adds a character to the Wizarding World. It will stay as close to canon as possible but will have to adjust a bit to the new character. This story also shows a new side to Lupin. The main character is Sirius' daughter and Lupin's Goddaughter, which also brings me to the fact that Lupin wasn't ever homeless or alone... At least not in my story... EVERYTHING in the Wizarding world belongs to the amazing, incredible JK Rowling, except of course the character I invented. The locations, people, etc. are hers and only hers. So, here goes.

Prologue:
On a dark and misty night, in Surrey, a baby boy was being taken to his Aunt and Uncle’s house. His parents had just been murdered by the greatest evil ever seen, and he was now an orphan. But this is not a story about Harry James Potter, The Boy Who Lived. This story takes place a few hours later, in Shell Cottage, where a baby girl was being transferred to her Godfather’s.
A tabby looking cat with squared markings shaping her eyes stood on the corner of Shell Cottage and Sandy Lane. She had been on that same corner for a little over an hour. Glancing around, she shivered once and then rested her eyes upon a deserted patch of pavement right under a lamppost. After what seemed like ten minutes, there was a flicker of movement from a nearby bush. A man in long dress-robes and a pointed wizard’s hat stepped out into the light and clicked a cigarette lighter look alike. The closest light went out. After clicking it multiple times, the whole street was completely black. In the strange looking man’s other arm was a bundle of pink blankets with the softest sound of heavy breathing. The tabby cat transformed, for a second time that night, into her “human form.”
“Good Evening, Professor Dumbledore,” stated the witch as she walked up to him, her emerald robes billowing out behind her.
“Good Evening, or shall I say morning, Professor McGonagall,” smiled the tall wizard. “Long time, no see,” he chuckled.
“Albus, is it true? Did Sirius really betray them? His best friend, Albus?”
“I’m afraid the truth is not always easily seen, Minerva. We may never know what has truly happened. But, what I do know is that Sirius was found in a street with twelve muggles dead and only a finger left of Peter Pettigrew. He has been taken to Azkaban, and Amelia, going after him, found herself in the crossfire. I don’t know if Sirius will ever be able to forgive himself for that.”
“What will happen to Emily?”
“That, Minerva, is what brings us to another neighborhood tonight. I think it will be best if we take her to her godfather’s house. I think he will want to take her.”
“First Harry and now Emily; what has the world come to?”
“Ahh, Minerva, let’s not dwell upon the unpleasant. Once again, think of what has happened. He is gone, for now at least.”
“So, you don’t think he’s gone for good?”
“Only time can tell. Shall we get her inside?” asked Dumbledore, indicating the pink bundles in his hand.
The witch nodded, and they glided down the street. As they walked, they felt the light breeze linger in the air. The smell of the ocean swirled around them, stinging their nostrils a bit. Staying on the out-skirt of the street, they rounded right before stopping in front of a white cottage with flowers outlining the walk to the door. There was a dim light through one of the upstairs’ windows. Dumbledore and McGonagall made their way to the door, then knocked three times. While they waited, Dumbledore hummed a show tune and McGonagall stared at the baby they were about to hand off. They heard footsteps echo through the house, lights flipping on as they grew louder. The footsteps stopped and a man’s eyes could be seen peeping out the curtain. After realizing whom it was, a mediocre, straggly man with wild hair and deep circles under his green eyes opened the door.
“Albus, Minerva, what brings you to my neck of the woods?” asked the man, eyeing the two. He then noticed the pink blankets. His eyes widened and he nearly choked. “No, it can’t be. There’s been a mistake. Please tell me it’s not that, anything but that. They’re not...”
Albus held up his hand. “Dear boy, we can’t afford to lose you too, please calm down, Remus. Everything will be all right. May we enter?” Albus asked.
The man named Remus motioned for them to enter. After closing the door behind them, he made his way to the living room. Minerva and Albus sat side-by-side on the long couch while Remus took the armchair opposite them. Minerva took the baby girl from Albus’ hands and rocked her gently. Remus leaned his head back against the chair; he looked ghastly. He had turned pale white and was shaking slightly. Opening his eyes, he looked over at the pink blankets where he knew his goddaughter was hiding.
“Remus, we need to talk about a few things,” stated Dumbledore softly, but sternly. Remus nodded so Dumbledore continued. “Sirius was found in the middle of a street with his wand; twelve muggles are dead, but that’s not all. Not only muggles were in that street.” Albus was staring into Remus’ eyes with a sad expression. He felt sorry for Remus Lupin; he was about to tell him that he has lost all of his best friends—James, Peter, and even Sirius in some ways. Remus nodded, as if knowing what was about to be said. “It was believed that Peter Pettigrew searched for Sirius tonight to kill him for his betrayal against James and Lily. All they found of Pettigrew was his finger. Also, Amelia; she heard that Sirius might have been in trouble. She went after him and got blasted in the crossfire. I’m so sorry, Remus, I know this is difficult for you,” Dumbledore continued.
Silence followed after Dumbledore finished. Remus had tears welling up in his eyes. He couldn’t believe it. Prongs was dead. Lily was dead. Wormtail was dead. Amelia was dead. Padfoot was in Azkaban for causing the deaths. Everything was crumbling around him. He let a few tears escape before wiping them off. McGonagall took a tissue from the inside of her robes and sniffled behind it. She, too, was crying. Remus got out of his chair and knelt down in front of Professor McGonagall, looking at his goddaughter intently. A pale pink hand dropped out of the pink bundles, and Remus reached up, putting his forefinger inside it. The little fist closed around Remus’ finger.
“Albus, what happens to Emily?” asked Remus, looking up. He searched the old man’s face.
“She doesn’t have any living grandparents, Remus. She is your goddaughter, so I thought we might give you a chance to take her. If you do not wish to take responsibility, we understand and will take her to an orphanage first thing tomorrow morning,” stated Dumbledore.
“Of course I’ll take her,” said Remus without thinking.
“She is going to be a great responsibility, Remus, are you absolutely positive?” asked Professor McGonagall.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Minerva,” stated Remus determinedly.
“It’s settled then. I will need you to sign a few papers, just saying that you will be her guardian and what not, and we will be on our way,” smiled Dumbledore.
Remus nodded his head and motioned for the old wizard to follow him to the kitchen to sign the papers. McGonagall stayed in the living room with the baby girl sound asleep. Flipping the lights as he went, the tabby looking man sat at the head of the table, Dumbledore sitting on his left. Dumbledore rummaged in his cloak for a second, then pulled out a long stick. With a flick of his wand, some papers, a quill, and ink appeared. Remus looked into Dumbledore’s eyes and had the feeling that he was being x-rayed; like Dumbledore could see right through him. The old wizard gave him a small smile, nodding a bit.
“Sign here and here.” Dumbledore indicated to two lines then pushed the papers towards Remus.
Remus signed the papers, and with the flick of his wand, Dumbledore made the papers once again disappear.
“Is that all?” Remus asked.
“Yes, that will be all for now. I believe the ministry is looking over Amelia’s will and then they will be in touch shortly. Now, I believe we will let you and your goddaughter get some rest. Best wishes and if you were to need anything, please don’t hesitate to send an owl.” The old wizard pushed his chair out and stood up. Walking into the other room, he stated, “Minerva, I think it may be time for us to leave and not intrude on Mr. Lupin any longer.”
Standing up, the petite witch looked over to Lupin and took half a step. Remus met her the rest of the way and took the baby girl in his hands, balancing all of her weight evenly. The tabby wizard walked his guests to the door and bid them a goodnight. He watched as the two disappeared down the dark street. Closing the blinds, Remus Lupin walked up his stairs to his bedroom, flipping lights off as he went.
Pulling out his wand with his right hand, as his left was preoccupied, he waved it. A blur of pink and green scurried around the room, and after a few seconds, the silence prevailed. Trudging over to the pink crib by his bed, he sat the pink bundles down. He pulled a green blanket, which was engraved with ‘Emily J. R. A. S. Black,’ over the side of the crib and tucked Emily into it. Sighing, he sat down on the edge of his bed. Taking off his worn out tennis shoes, he glanced at the clock. It was after 2AM. It’s been a long day, he thought. Turning the lamp by his bed off, he lay back on his pillows and fell asleep to the soft breathing of the other life that he vowed to protect.
Oh dear, not a good thing when they start off quiet like that.Because they get loud with the wrong person.
That is so true, too! They usually always start out quiet.

Awe, poor Emily. I wish she would have told George.
She kind of felt like he had enough to deal with for the moment, so she was going to try to fix it herself. Not to mention that he would blame himself for it and she didn't want that.

Emily breathed in the scent of her husband’s skin. It was as sweet as lilacs, seeing as that’s what their soap’s scent is. His fingers drifted up and down her arm as he kissed her hair.
“I don’t want to get up,” she whispered.
“Mmmm, let’s stay in bed,” he whispered back.
“But I’m hungry,” she moaned.
George chuckled lightly. “Alright, wait here. I’ll get you something,” he said as he started getting out from under the blankets.
“No, don’t go,” she pouted, clutching his arm.
“I’ll be back in a flash, love,” he chuckled. He kissed her cheek and then pulled on his boxers. He went to their small kitchen and started putting food on a tray. He came back with two bananas, a bowl of strawberries, some pineapple, and toast. Emily buttoned up his blue shirt over her naked body, put her lacy panties back on, and sat up in the bed. She snuggled back into his side as he set the tray on his legs.
“What was the point of buttoning up that shirt when I plan on taking it right back off you?” he whispered with a chuckle. Emily giggled while she grabbed a banana.
“Mmmm, thank you. I was so hungry,” she said as she bit into the banana. George chuckled lightly as he grabbed a piece of toast.
“What do you want to do for the rest of the night?” George asked as he pulled the bread apart with his fingers.
“Pick out colors,” she said.
“For what?” George asked.
“Our house; all the rooms,” Emily answered cheerfully.
“Hmm, okay, what color do you want the kitchen to be?” he asked.
“I was thinking either red or a light violet. You pick,” she said as she lay back against his arm.
“Hmm, what about light violet?” he asked.
“Perfect. What color do you want the dining room?” she asked.
“A soft iris,” he answered after a moment of thinking.
“Oooh, I like that color,” she commended. George lifted a strawberry to her mouth and she took a bite.
“Mmmm, what about the living room?”
“How about a bit paler blue than the one that’s already there?” she asked.
“Sounds fantastic. How about the Master Bedroom?” George asked her.
“Umm, that one is a surprise,” she whispered. George didn’t answer and she knew he was trying to figure it out, causing her to giggle.
“George?” Emily asked quietly.
“Hmm?” he said.
“Do you agree with her? Your mother, I mean,” she asked quietly.
George stayed quiet for a moment. “No,” he said quietly.
“Are you sure? If it’s too soon, we can wait,” she whispered.
“I don’t want to wait,” he said quietly. “I want to move in to the house. I want to live with you and begin our family. I want it all before it gets taken away,” he whispered.
“What? What do you mean by taken away?” No answer. “George?” she asked, growing worried. He still wouldn’t answer. She twirled in his arms so she could see his face. “What’s going on?” she asked.
“Emily, there’s a battle starting out there, a war. Ems, when the war comes, I’m fighting,” George whispered.
Emily fidgeted uncomfortably for a moment before meeting his eyes. “I’m fighting too,” she whispered. He automatically started shaking his head. “If you think I’m going to sit back while all of my friends, my family fight then you’re sadly mistaken. I’m not going to relax in our home where at any second you could be killed. I’m standing next to you in this war, George,” Emily said.
“No, I won’t let you fight,” George said stubbornly.
“You’re not going to have a choice,” Emily whispered.
“I can’t have you ripped away from me,” George whispered painfully.
“And you think it is peachy keen if you’re ripped away from me?” she asked. “Wherever you go, I go, remember?”
George nodded slowly. “Let’s not think about any of this until it’s here,” he whispered. Emily nodded and buried her face in his neck. He kissed her hair and rubbed her back. They heard a click from downstairs.
“Somebody’s here,” she said frantically as she searched for her shorts.
“Looking for these?” George chuckled as he dangled her shorts in front of her. Emily giggled and snatched her shorts. She put them on quickly as footsteps on the staircase grew steadily nearer. George pulled on his shorts and found a T-shirt in his dresser since Emily was still wearing his.
“Is it safe to come in?” Fred chuckled from the doorway.
“Yes, it’s safe...now,” Emily said, mumbling the last word.
“She feels bad, you know,” Fred said, looking at George as George took their food tray and put it in the kitchen.
“She should,” George said quietly.
“Come on, give her a break,” Fred said.
“Why should I?”
“Because she’s your mother,” Emily said quietly. “She cares about you and loves you. She only wants what’s best for you,” Emily said. Fred nodded in agreement.
“Emily, please,” George whispered.
“Don’t ‘please’ me, George Weasley. You know I’m right. Don’t forget that I’m the one wearing the pants in this marriage,” she chuckled lightly.
A grin came to his face. “As of five minutes ago, neither of us was ‘wearing the pants,’” he laughed.
Emily giggled and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his middle. “Point taken,” she whispered.
“First, ewe. Second—Mum wants you two over for dinner tonight so she can apologize. Tonks and everybody will be there,” Fred announced.
“We’ll think about it,” George said.
“We’ll be there,” Emily corrected. Fred smiled and then disappeared down the stairs.
“You know, I think it’s quite a big responsibility for you to be wearing the pants in the family... Maybe we should take them off,” George chuckled as he bent down, his hands going down her back. He grabbed her legs and swung them up so that they could wrap around his waist. Emily giggled girlishly and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“I wouldn’t want you to take on that responsibility either, you know,” she whispered through kisses. George laughed and led her over to the bed. Emily untangled her legs from his waist and turned them over so that she was on top. She pulled back to look at him and an evil grin appeared on her face. “You know, I’m not much in the mood anymore,” she said as she rolled off the bed.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, what do you think you’re doing?” he asked as he extended his arm, thinking she’d return to it.
“Payback for last night,” she smirked at him. “I told you I’d get you back.”
“That’s not fair. Get back over here. You can pay me back some other time,” he said with a frown on his face.
“You know, I think I like paying you back now,” she said as she unbuttoned his shirt and took it off of herself. She grabbed her bra and white shirt from earlier and started putting them on.
“You’re cruel,” he said with a frown.
“Love you,” she said as she made her way to the bathroom.
“Crummy way of showing it,” he mumbled under his breath. Emily laughed lightly and got ready for dinner.
*ALrighty, let me know whatchya think...
Oh, and Connie, I tried looking for cute yellow colors and changed my mind, so I'm going to go back and fix it. The house is a seafoam spray color and the shutters are a mint hint color. The links aren't working, or I'd let you see them.

You are welcome!!
I have no clue what Sophie means about what she has figured out but she probably won't reply now. She goes to Boston tomorrow. I will text her. I will edit this later. Hold on.
EDIT- She was in Paris when I texted her today but she was about to leave for Boston so she couldn't reply. Oh well.

Good, I was looking forward to them talking.

Can't wait to see it. Question, you might not know the answer, but... When Emily got splinced, did she leave a piece of her side at the burrow? In the books, she says that when people get splinched, parts of them get left behind. So, what do you think? Did someone have to clean up a glob of skin? Ewwwww!
Great post Emily. I'll be watching for your next one.
Ah, I know! I had a lot of fun looking at color swatches and what not!

Haha, I didn't even think about that. I guess that would be right, because their skin does get left behind... Ewe is right... We'll just assume that Emily goes back and cleans up after herself when they go to dinner, 'kay?

Dinner arrived and as soon as they walked into the kitchen of the Burrow, Mrs. Weasley gave them both huge hugs, apologizing over and over. She told them that it was their lives and their choice. George thankfully didn’t say anything rude, hugged his mother, and told her he loved her. Tonks stayed for about a minute with her mousy, brown hair and sad, heart shaped face. Emily was worried about her, but she didn’t have time to talk to her because she ran off as soon as Remus walked into the room.
Emily gave him a hard look. “What?” he asked innocently.
“May I talk to you outside, Remus?” she asked coldly. Everyone stared at her suspiciously. George pecked her cheek, but didn’t dare ask. Remus nodded feebly, looking quite guilty.
She led him to the backdoor and walked to the fence. Then, she rounded on him. “What did you do?” she asked coldly.
“I don’t know what you mean,” he replied quietly.
“Oh don’t give me that load of dragon dung, Remus. What happened between you and Tonks?” she asked, her face hard.
“Well, I—Er—I just—We’re,” he stuttered. Emily put her hands on her hips and raised her eyebrows. Remus looked down quickly, not wanting to see her fury.
“You two seemed great when you danced at the wedding. What happened?” Emily asked.
“I’m not right for her, Emily. I’m too old and broken. She deserves someone young and whole, and I’m not it,” Remus said. He sat down on the grass, pulled his knees up to his chest, and buried his face in his hands.
“You’re not too old. And Remus, she’s the glue that could piece you back together. It doesn’t matter what you think of yourself, it’s not going to change her mind. She wants you, not someone else,” Emily said softly as she sat beside him.
“I’m not going to ruin her life, Emily. Case closed. Don’t bring up this subject again, is that understood?” he asked.
“Fine, for now at least. It’s still not completely dropped,” she replied in frustration.
Emily stood up, offering her hand to Remus. He took it and they both walked back to the kitchen. Everyone could sense their tension and decided not question them. Everyone ate the fantastic dinner that Mrs. Weasley spread out and then retired to the living room for tea.
After the night was over, Emily, George, and Fred returned to their flat, joking and laughing the whole time.
Hello Emily. Great post. And first off, I'm so glad things are patched up between Molly and Mr. & Mrs. George Weasley. This line was brilliant.

Nothing else needs to be said. It says it all by itself.
This line, Remus needs to reconcider.

How conciderate of him to be so thoughtful of her. The thing is, he'll ruin her life by not letting her have the love of her life.
