Alrighty, so this is my first go at a fanfic and I hope I don't disappoint. This story adds a character to the Wizarding World. It will stay as close to canon as possible but will have to adjust a bit to the new character. This story also shows a new side to Lupin. The main character is Sirius' daughter and Lupin's Goddaughter, which also brings me to the fact that Lupin wasn't ever homeless or alone... At least not in my story... EVERYTHING in the Wizarding world belongs to the amazing, incredible JK Rowling, except of course the character I invented. The locations, people, etc. are hers and only hers. So, here goes.

Prologue:
On a dark and misty night, in Surrey, a baby boy was being taken to his Aunt and Uncle’s house. His parents had just been murdered by the greatest evil ever seen, and he was now an orphan. But this is not a story about Harry James Potter, The Boy Who Lived. This story takes place a few hours later, in Shell Cottage, where a baby girl was being transferred to her Godfather’s.
A tabby looking cat with squared markings shaping her eyes stood on the corner of Shell Cottage and Sandy Lane. She had been on that same corner for a little over an hour. Glancing around, she shivered once and then rested her eyes upon a deserted patch of pavement right under a lamppost. After what seemed like ten minutes, there was a flicker of movement from a nearby bush. A man in long dress-robes and a pointed wizard’s hat stepped out into the light and clicked a cigarette lighter look alike. The closest light went out. After clicking it multiple times, the whole street was completely black. In the strange looking man’s other arm was a bundle of pink blankets with the softest sound of heavy breathing. The tabby cat transformed, for a second time that night, into her “human form.”
“Good Evening, Professor Dumbledore,” stated the witch as she walked up to him, her emerald robes billowing out behind her.
“Good Evening, or shall I say morning, Professor McGonagall,” smiled the tall wizard. “Long time, no see,” he chuckled.
“Albus, is it true? Did Sirius really betray them? His best friend, Albus?”
“I’m afraid the truth is not always easily seen, Minerva. We may never know what has truly happened. But, what I do know is that Sirius was found in a street with twelve muggles dead and only a finger left of Peter Pettigrew. He has been taken to Azkaban, and Amelia, going after him, found herself in the crossfire. I don’t know if Sirius will ever be able to forgive himself for that.”
“What will happen to Emily?”
“That, Minerva, is what brings us to another neighborhood tonight. I think it will be best if we take her to her godfather’s house. I think he will want to take her.”
“First Harry and now Emily; what has the world come to?”
“Ahh, Minerva, let’s not dwell upon the unpleasant. Once again, think of what has happened. He is gone, for now at least.”
“So, you don’t think he’s gone for good?”
“Only time can tell. Shall we get her inside?” asked Dumbledore, indicating the pink bundles in his hand.
The witch nodded, and they glided down the street. As they walked, they felt the light breeze linger in the air. The smell of the ocean swirled around them, stinging their nostrils a bit. Staying on the out-skirt of the street, they rounded right before stopping in front of a white cottage with flowers outlining the walk to the door. There was a dim light through one of the upstairs’ windows. Dumbledore and McGonagall made their way to the door, then knocked three times. While they waited, Dumbledore hummed a show tune and McGonagall stared at the baby they were about to hand off. They heard footsteps echo through the house, lights flipping on as they grew louder. The footsteps stopped and a man’s eyes could be seen peeping out the curtain. After realizing whom it was, a mediocre, straggly man with wild hair and deep circles under his green eyes opened the door.
“Albus, Minerva, what brings you to my neck of the woods?” asked the man, eyeing the two. He then noticed the pink blankets. His eyes widened and he nearly choked. “No, it can’t be. There’s been a mistake. Please tell me it’s not that, anything but that. They’re not...”
Albus held up his hand. “Dear boy, we can’t afford to lose you too, please calm down, Remus. Everything will be all right. May we enter?” Albus asked.
The man named Remus motioned for them to enter. After closing the door behind them, he made his way to the living room. Minerva and Albus sat side-by-side on the long couch while Remus took the armchair opposite them. Minerva took the baby girl from Albus’ hands and rocked her gently. Remus leaned his head back against the chair; he looked ghastly. He had turned pale white and was shaking slightly. Opening his eyes, he looked over at the pink blankets where he knew his goddaughter was hiding.
“Remus, we need to talk about a few things,” stated Dumbledore softly, but sternly. Remus nodded so Dumbledore continued. “Sirius was found in the middle of a street with his wand; twelve muggles are dead, but that’s not all. Not only muggles were in that street.” Albus was staring into Remus’ eyes with a sad expression. He felt sorry for Remus Lupin; he was about to tell him that he has lost all of his best friends—James, Peter, and even Sirius in some ways. Remus nodded, as if knowing what was about to be said. “It was believed that Peter Pettigrew searched for Sirius tonight to kill him for his betrayal against James and Lily. All they found of Pettigrew was his finger. Also, Amelia; she heard that Sirius might have been in trouble. She went after him and got blasted in the crossfire. I’m so sorry, Remus, I know this is difficult for you,” Dumbledore continued.
Silence followed after Dumbledore finished. Remus had tears welling up in his eyes. He couldn’t believe it. Prongs was dead. Lily was dead. Wormtail was dead. Amelia was dead. Padfoot was in Azkaban for causing the deaths. Everything was crumbling around him. He let a few tears escape before wiping them off. McGonagall took a tissue from the inside of her robes and sniffled behind it. She, too, was crying. Remus got out of his chair and knelt down in front of Professor McGonagall, looking at his goddaughter intently. A pale pink hand dropped out of the pink bundles, and Remus reached up, putting his forefinger inside it. The little fist closed around Remus’ finger.
“Albus, what happens to Emily?” asked Remus, looking up. He searched the old man’s face.
“She doesn’t have any living grandparents, Remus. She is your goddaughter, so I thought we might give you a chance to take her. If you do not wish to take responsibility, we understand and will take her to an orphanage first thing tomorrow morning,” stated Dumbledore.
“Of course I’ll take her,” said Remus without thinking.
“She is going to be a great responsibility, Remus, are you absolutely positive?” asked Professor McGonagall.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way, Minerva,” stated Remus determinedly.
“It’s settled then. I will need you to sign a few papers, just saying that you will be her guardian and what not, and we will be on our way,” smiled Dumbledore.
Remus nodded his head and motioned for the old wizard to follow him to the kitchen to sign the papers. McGonagall stayed in the living room with the baby girl sound asleep. Flipping the lights as he went, the tabby looking man sat at the head of the table, Dumbledore sitting on his left. Dumbledore rummaged in his cloak for a second, then pulled out a long stick. With a flick of his wand, some papers, a quill, and ink appeared. Remus looked into Dumbledore’s eyes and had the feeling that he was being x-rayed; like Dumbledore could see right through him. The old wizard gave him a small smile, nodding a bit.
“Sign here and here.” Dumbledore indicated to two lines then pushed the papers towards Remus.
Remus signed the papers, and with the flick of his wand, Dumbledore made the papers once again disappear.
“Is that all?” Remus asked.
“Yes, that will be all for now. I believe the ministry is looking over Amelia’s will and then they will be in touch shortly. Now, I believe we will let you and your goddaughter get some rest. Best wishes and if you were to need anything, please don’t hesitate to send an owl.” The old wizard pushed his chair out and stood up. Walking into the other room, he stated, “Minerva, I think it may be time for us to leave and not intrude on Mr. Lupin any longer.”
Standing up, the petite witch looked over to Lupin and took half a step. Remus met her the rest of the way and took the baby girl in his hands, balancing all of her weight evenly. The tabby wizard walked his guests to the door and bid them a goodnight. He watched as the two disappeared down the dark street. Closing the blinds, Remus Lupin walked up his stairs to his bedroom, flipping lights off as he went.
Pulling out his wand with his right hand, as his left was preoccupied, he waved it. A blur of pink and green scurried around the room, and after a few seconds, the silence prevailed. Trudging over to the pink crib by his bed, he sat the pink bundles down. He pulled a green blanket, which was engraved with ‘Emily J. R. A. S. Black,’ over the side of the crib and tucked Emily into it. Sighing, he sat down on the edge of his bed. Taking off his worn out tennis shoes, he glanced at the clock. It was after 2AM. It’s been a long day, he thought. Turning the lamp by his bed off, he lay back on his pillows and fell asleep to the soft breathing of the other life that he vowed to protect.
Hello Emily. I don't know how you can write Emily so brave, and it seem real! I could not leave my hubby for such a mission. It's hard for me to leave him to go to the grocery store! Have you shopped for groceries? A person could die of shock at the prices.
Yep, we went the other day. It's no bueno.

But still, I would have said good-bye to my husband.
But if she had stayed to say goodbye, she wouldn't have been able to leave, and she needed to leave...

Great post Emily. I hope you're able to post soon. You're doing great.
Thanks, Connie.

Emily!!! She's pregnant, isn't she?? Oh, you're so evil... Stomach flu? Yeah, right! =P Anyway... other than that outburst, I loved it!! It's so sad to see Emily and George all separated and not happy and stuff... =[ I hope they reunite again soon! And I'm still trying to figure out Emily's mission here, even though I know you won't tell me. Ha ha! But honestly, Emily, if she's pregnant... ;-] Ha ha! PAMS please, please, please!

We are nearing the end of the seventh book and if you have read it, I think you know what happens!
Poor Em's...
Well I can only hope! It's Emily's story so she might do something completly different...
And Yes I have read the seventh book! I cried at the end of it. I have told Emily my theories but she said I was wrong apart from one bit, but she wouldn't tell me which bit was right. I just don't want Emily to die!!!!

She's just going to help people and Snape... I really don't like how I've done this bit, but the other way I had it didn't seem to believable, so I had to change it. But parts of what happened after she left had to happen the way they did, because I liked how some things turned out... So, it's really not that good. Don't expect too much out of it, because I really don't want to disappoint any of you. i don't know, you'll see more of her helping and what not in the next couple of posts. These next parts really kind of speed up to get to the end...

“So, Draco, anything new?” Emily asked politely. George glanced at her, narrowing his eyes.
“Not really much,” Draco replied shortly. “What about you?” he asked, eyeing her. George’s hands balled up into fists.
“Not a whole lot these days,” she chuckled. Draco laughed lightly, the tension casually leaving the table slightly. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen you,” she said quietly. He nodded seriously.
“What’s it been? Twenty-two years or so?” Draco laughed.
“Something like that,” Emily chortled. “The years have been good to you,” she smiled.
“I could say the same to you,” he grinned, looking her up and down.
“Are you bloody kidding me?” George suddenly shouted.
“George!” Emily scolded.
“What, Emily? You’ve got to see the way he’s looking at you!”
“Cut it out, George! We were only making polite conversation—something you can’t seem to do,” she said coldly.
“I bet you wished you married him, huh? What with how the years have been good to him!” George yelled at her.
“George Weasley! Outside right now!” Emily screamed. George got to his feet and stormed from the room.
Hello Emily. Ummm, well, just coming in on an already going on conversation is hard to decide, but I think there is a problem with the relationship between Emily and George. But, I have to side with George, it looked like Draco was sizing her up, and Emily wasn't discouraging him. Looking forward to finding out what is going on.
TWENTY- TWO YEARS?
How far are you going forwards!
And...
BAD GEORGE!
Very bad George!

The next morning, when Harry got back from burying Mad-Eye’s eye, the trio decided to leave the clearing. Before she could even stand up, her illness got the better of her and she threw up again. Afterwards, Emily packed up all her stuff and followed shortly after, letting the Deluminator take her to wherever she was supposed to be. Right after she put charms around her and her tent, her mirror started buzzing.
“How close did it get?” Snape asked immediately.
“From what I saw, it wasn’t pretty,” Emily replied with a sigh. “All I saw was Yaxley on the front step with the trio. I was able to curse him, at the same time Hermione did, and he fell back. I erased his memory too,” Emily reported.
“Yes, I heard,” he said dryly.
“Congrats on the promotion. It seems everything happened the way he said it would,” Emily said semi-brightly.
“Yes, well, thank you,” Snape muttered. He didn’t seem happy. “How far have you gotten with your other part of the mission? Are you still with the trio? Where are they?” he asked suspiciously. Emily narrowed her eyes at him.
“I’m beginning it now… I left the trio this morning. I don’t know where they went, they left too,” Emily replied. “Are you asking for Dumbledore or You Know Who?”
“Don’t get smart with me,” he sneered. “You know which side I’m on.”
“Right,” she muttered. “What’s new over on your side,” she asked.
“Not much,” he answered before hanging up.
“Thanks,” she mumbled as she threw the mirror into the couch.
Around noon, Emily set off to explore the small village she was near. She changed her looks daily so she was never the same person, and never her. She was getting restless and bored. She had nobody to talk to, nobody to even look at. All she did was read her books and eat. She used the Deluminator multiple times a day, but nothing was happening still. She was getting frustrated that Dumbledore had asked her to do this. She grabbed her mirror as she fell back into the couch.
“Severus Snape,” Emily said into the mirror. Snape picked up on the second ring.
“This better be important,” Snape said curtly, his glare murderous.
“What’s the matter with you? The Nargles finally get to you?” Emily asked sarcastically. Snape narrowed his eyes, his lip curling back. Emily wasn’t sure why she was expecting fangs to come out of his mouth, but she was and they didn’t.
“I was wondering if I could talk to Dumbledore,” Emily said hesitantly. Snape tensed as he glanced back at a portrait of a sleeping man.
“Why do you need to speak with him? Anything you need to tell him, you can tell me,” Snape said quietly.
“Please, Professor.” Snape sighed, grimacing as he held up the mirror to the now awake man in the portrait. Emily smiled timidly.
“Yes, I think so. Look, nothing is happening. Maybe this is pointless,” Emily said, getting down to business.
“I can assure you it isn’t pointless, Emily. In time, someone will need your help. Just be patient, and I’m sure things will happen. Severus told me about what happened at Grimmauld Place,” Dumbledore smiled, his eyes twinkling. Emily had the sudden urge to cry. This man was looking at her like Sirius had looked at her, like Remus always looked at her. He was proud of her.
“Okay, I mean I don’t hope something happens, but I wish I could be doing something,” Emily said quietly. Dumbledore nodded slowly.
“I need you to pass on some information,” Snape said suddenly, jerking the mirror back so he could peer through it.
“What?” Emily asked suspiciously.
“I need you to alert the Order and tell them that the Dark Lord has put a taboo on his name. If you say it, every spell you have protecting you will go down and the Snatchers will find you instantly,” Snape said seriously.
“You have got to be kidding me!” Emily scowled. “He seriously did that?” Emily was outraged. She knew that Harry said his name all the time. But how was she supposed to warn him? Snape just raised one of his eyebrows at her and she glared at him.
“Is it something you’re capable of doing?” Snape asked in a bored voice.
“Yes, evidently I’m good at persuading people,” she said sarcastically.
“Then, that is all,” he said before hanging up. Emily huffed quietly.
She grabbed her cell phone from her pocket and dialed Remus’ number. He answered on the first ring.
“Emily!” Remus exclaimed into the phone. He seemed to be arguing with someone in the background. George maybe?
“Hey, Rems,” Emily said half heartedly. “Look, this isn’t a personal call. It’s business,” she said quietly.
“What? You don’t have a minute to call and ask how I am? If I’m still alive or anything?” Remus said in irritation.
“I’m sorry, but no. I have a warning really. You Know Who’s name has been tabooed. Don’t say it or all of the protection charms and what not will be swept away and Snatchers can find you. Pass it along to the others and stay safe,” Emily whispered into the phone. Remus was quiet for a moment.
“How did you find this out?” he asked finally.
“I heard it around,” she said hesitantly. He argued with the other person again before sighing.
“George wants to talk to you,” he said in surrender.
Emily hesitated. A smile flashed across her face before turning back into a frown.
“I, er, can’t talk anymore. I have to go. Tell him I love him, and I love you,” Emily whispered before hanging up. Her phone immediately started buzzing again as they called her back, but she ignored it.
“And now we wait,” Emily said in a bored voice. Emily grabbed one of the spell books that Dumbledore had given her and started reading it.
It's not much, I'm going to say that these next few posts until the post are going to be fillers, okay? What do you think?
Hello Emily. Fillers are fine. I'm anxious to get to the post. It's at this time of a book that I start peeking ahead to see if my theories are turning out correct or if I have to rethink. Can't do that here. I always wondered how the order found out about the taboo. Way to go Emily! And at first when she heard Remus arguing in the background, I thought it would be with George, about him leaving Tonks, and he was wanting to stay with Emily and George, but I realized right away he wouldn't do this. Great post Emily, can't wait till the next.
It would make her miss him even more if she couldn't be with him but she could hear his voice. And it would make her want to go home...

Now, that's just pure evil! But, it worked. Here's the new post!
Dumbledore told her many things about her Deluminator. It would take her to the people who may need her help, who were in trouble. She tried the Deluminator every day, but it wouldn’t take her to anything for the next two weeks. She had no idea what it was playing at and was getting even more bored, if that was even possible. Nobody was in need, so it kept taking her to various parts of the woods.
So, she spent weeks upon weeks changing locations and traveling the country side. She spent most mornings throwing up, wishing the bug would go away, but it didn’t. At one point, she figured that since it only ever happened in the morning, when she first woke up and realized George’s arms weren’t around her, that she was just home sick, which made her physically ill. She was also incredibly bored and lonely.
On her third week, after talking to Dumbledore, things took a turn. When she used her Deluminator, it would actually take her to those in need. She would always help from afar, trying to not be seen. She never recognized anyone she helped, but that didn’t matter. After stunning the Snatchers and watching the captives get free and scamper, she would tie ropes around the Snatchers, use an Anti-Disapparation charm on them so they couldn’t leave, and alert the Order. She assumed they were taken somewhere and held captive themselves, which she didn’t mind. The people she helped ranged from more elderly people, to middle-aged and her age, and then to even younger…
In September, Emily used the Deluminator and landed in the woods near a playground. A little boy was being thrown around by a group of three Snatchers. She whipped her wand out and pointed at the closest one to her, stunning him. The others looked around as the boy cowered at the stump of a tree. They started toward her, wands raised, but she was too quick for them. She stunned them and they fell to the ground, motionless.
“Hey, sweetie,” Emily said softly as she made her way toward the boy. He whimpered once. “I’m not going to hurt you. Those bad guys aren’t going to hurt you anymore, okay?” The boy looked at her, his tears still falling down his cheeks. She held out her arms hesitantly, carefully. “Why don’t we take you home?” Emily asked gently. He nodded once before jumping into her arms. She ruffled his hair and picked him up. His tiny legs wound around the left side of her waist as she made her way out of the woods. He looked only to be about four or so.
“Is your mommy at the playground?” she whispered to him. He shook his head against her shoulder. “Okay… Can you tell me which way to get to your mommy?” The boy nodded and pointed toward a side street. Emily started walking that way.
“My name is Emily, what’s yours?” Emily asked gently.
“Brandon,” he said, wiping his eyes with the back of his hands.
“Did they hurt you, Brandon?”
“No, you stopped them right after they pulled me off the jungle gym,” he hiccoughed. “They saw me using magic.”
“How come nobody was watching you?” Emily asked, trying to not sound as furious as she felt.
“Janie was supposed to wait with me, but she ran off with her friends,” Brandon whispered into her neck. Emily nodded, her eyebrows knitting together.
“Is Janie your sister?” Brandon nodded. He pointed toward a house a little ways away and Emily picked up the pace. She trudged up the front steps and knocked on the door three times.
After a minute or two a woman with a heart shaped face and brown curly hair opened the door. She looked confused when she saw Emily and then she zeroed in on Brandon. Brandon wiggled free of Emily’s grasp and hugged his mother’s leg. Emily almost smiled but then she remembered that he had been abandoned on the playground. Emily put her hands on her hips, which evidently made her look more like her mother.
“Who are you?” the woman demanded as she picked Brandon up.
“My name is Emily. Brandon was being bullied by some Snatchers, but I got there before they could hurt him,” Emily said coldly.
“Sn-Snatchers?” the woman stuttered as she looked down at her son’s unruly hair. Emily nodded once.
“He had been abandoned on the playground—you might not want your daughter watching him anymore if she’s going to just leave him there alone,” Emily said angrily.
“Janie left hi—Brandon was alon—thank you,” the woman finally said as she clutched her son closer to herself.
“Don’t mention it, just be more careful,” Emily said before stalking back down the path. She went back to the playground to clean up after her mess. She transfigured them all into small rocks and kicked them deeper into the woods. Afterwards, she hid behind a few bushes and Apparated. She immediately went through the tent and snatched her mirror from her bag.
“Severus Snape,” she hissed into her mirror, very angry.
“What do you want?” he sneered.
“What do I want?” she exploded. He backtracked, staring at her suspiciously. “I want to know why his bloody Snatchers are picking on four year old boys?” she yelled at the greasy haired man.
“I don’t have any control over them,” he said with a roll of his eyes before hanging up on her. Emily stared at the mirror in shock before throwing it on the couch. She kicked one of her books across the room and threw her head in her hands. Her tears came before she could stop them.
“I didn’t think they’d go as far as to pick on little kids,” Emily whispered to herself. Emily shook her head once as she curled up on the sofa.

You know it has just dawned on me how alike Snape and my maths teacher, Mr.Beaumel are. It is the way they mutter everything and talk in that one boring tone of voice!
Too funny

Nah, they're like high teens, twenties in my mind. They're just on the dark side; they don't really care who they pick on. Maybe they were bored...
