August would have never thought they were going to have a party at the beginning of this lesson. The professor was a great woman and all and seemed to be plenty capable of having fun but he still wouldn't have ever guessed a DADA party would ensue.
Once they were told their directions, the party supplies were layed out and the instructions for the levitating potion were given August decided to find someone to work with--two heads are better than one, no?

The Gryffindor was looking for a partner and saw that Kurumi was poking around at the balloons. He definately wanted to play with those. "Hey Kurumi mind if I help?" he walked over and laughing at the red one hanging from his mouth he grabbed a green one and began to inflate it the good old Muggle way.

Just then August noticed the small creature that he had thought was a badly dressed, oddly pigmented student. It was a HOUSE ELF?! "U-uhh Kurumi, who's your friend?" he asked slightly nervous eyeing the elf.

Ooo, she had an idea for where to hang the decoration, but she was going to need some help. At least from an older student who knew a charm for sticking and who could help her with the tablecloth.

Glancing around, Kourtney zeroed in on a familiar face. She walked over with a smile and greeted the older girl. "Hey Victoria! Can you help me out here? I wanted to put this decoration on that table over there, but first it needs a tablecloth, and....I need you to maybe do a sticking charm so that it'll stick securely to the table." She nodded towards the table that she had chosen. "Can you help me with the tablecloth first and then do a sticking charm?"

Hands still holding the balloons while she waited for the house elf to reply, Kurumi's head spun around when she heard August call her name. "August," she smiled, offering him a friendly bow in greeting. She was glad to see him smiling after the disaster that had been Potions. Hopefully he had gotten all of it out of his hair. "Of course," she nodded as she offered him three deflated balloons in red, gold, and white. Coincidence that they were Gryffindor colors? Maybe.

"Oh, this is Pips, one of the house elves," she said while she stepped to the side. She looked the the house elf and tried not to giggle. Where was his little friend? Tehe. "Pips, this is August." There, now they could be friends too!

Kurumi, realizing she still had the red balloon hanging from her mouth, began to blow into it until the size was the same as her face. That was big enough, right? It was then that she realized the balloon was not round like usually balloons, but was in the shape of a star. NEAT!

Oh. Oh, oh, the studentsies were helping! Pips watched with big eyes, but with no offer to hold the tray and no place to set it down, Pips was resigned to continue holding it.

"They is extra delicious for the Missus. Pips is not minding standing here. Pips can stand all day with trays." Pips was so VERY strong.

"Whenever master is ready," Pips bobbed without toppling a single food item on his tray. "Pips doesn't mind."

"Yes, mistress. Pips isn't minding holding the tray. Pips is happy to do it." But he was also happy to give it up if she wanted to take it.

"How is mistress's kitty?" He recognized this one from the kitchens, back when they had visitors in the kitchens.

Mistress. Kurumi wished he would call her by her name. "Please, just call me Kurumi," she said with a small smile. "Really, it's no problem. I can take it back to the table over there."

Then the elf asked about Walnut. Merlin. Was THAT a tale right now. "Madder than a Hippogriff on Sunday right now. The Headmaster shaved him for peeing on his shoes."

Hearing her name, Sierra turned back around, giving her full attention to Schirmer. Three points? Hmm... She sat up taller and prouder as she heard that, and she gave the professor a pleased smile. "Thank you, Professor Schirmer," she said, just before dropping the matter altogether.

Sierra took a long glance around the room, noting for the first time that it did give off a mood that lent itself to casting a patronus. Before, she'd just been annoyed by it; but now that she knew it had a purpose, she could tolerate it a little better.

Now. A happy memory. She wouldn't share it aloud, at least not now, but she could at least think about it.

Her happiest memory happened recently, just after she was kidnapped for the second time by her non-custodial mother. It was the first time she'd set eyes on her father and his girlfriend, who'd given their all to come and save her. She remembered looking at both of them and thinking to herself how elated she was to see them in person, rather than in memories like she'd been doing while with her mother. She remembered running to her father and jumping into his arms, holding onto him tightly and knowing she'd never be separated from him again. Then she remembered the moment she realized her father and his girlfriend would be together forever. It was the first step to realizing her dysfunctional life was finally getting on track.

Then she smiled. A genuine smile that was the exact opposite of what she was so typical of displaying. It was then that she knew this was a strong enough memory. She may be too young and inexperienced to cast a patronus now, but as least she was confident in knowing she could conjure a happy memory.



...a party. Hmm. This could be fun, although Sierra was a little iffy about the whole burping part. Honestly, if some pig burped in her ear or something, she'd hex them to next Saturday and back. Enough of that line of thinking for now, though. She apparently had a party to plan. She headed across the room to the first box and peered inside. So many decorations. So much happiness. She knew that was pretty much the point of things, though. She'd deal with all the happiness for now. After all, she'd never cast a patronus of she couldn't.

She reached into the box and came out with a handful of multi-colored streamers. Hmm. What could she do with the spell knowledge she had? An idea hit her, and she laid the streamers out randomly on the ground. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she said, levitating them to an appropriate height. When they got there, she swished and flicked her wand in a different direction and said, "Fixate!" There. Now there were multi-colored streamers dangling from random points in the room.

The only problem, of course, was that the streamers only covered the part of the room she'd been standing in. She looked over to the other side of the room, where it was bare of any streamers she'd hung. She reached into the box and pulled out another big handful of the streamers. This time, she walked to the opposite side of the room and spread them out across the floor. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she said, and up they rose. When they got to the height of the streamers, she moved her wand around again then added, "Fixate!" Now then. At least there were streamers in two parts of the room.

"Awesome!" August took the balloons she had given him and began to blow them up as she was talking to the House Elf. He would let them get caught up with each other before he butted in.

Finishing with the three balloons and grabbing a third he started to hang them around the room with some tape he had found in the box. He didn't know the sticking charm he saw some other students using and made a mental note to look that one up after class and try it out. But after he returned from hanging his balloons up he walked over to stand by the House Elf and Kurumi again.

"H-hi Pips, it's nice to meet you." he said waving slightly nervous. He then looked at Kurumi in horror after she said that Headmaster Tate made her shave her cat. "That's horrible Kurumi!"

Party?? Wow, it would be cool!! So, they were decorating the classroom now. Raven took her wand and pointed it to the box that full of decoration

"Wingardium Leviosa!" All of them flew to the ceiling.

Once Alyssa was done blowing up one balloon, she looked up to see that Louisa was still busy hanging up the streamers, so she decided to continue blowing up the other balloons inside the box,


Alyssa had been puffing and blowing up as many possible balloons that her cheeks started to hurt. She looked all around her, and almost laughed when saw that she was sitting in a pile of balloons. She looked over and saw Kurumi and August blowing up balloons and hanging them up. She called out to them. "Excuse me for interrupting your conversation, but I noticed that you guys were both blowing up the balloons and hanging them up. I have a whole bunch of balloons that I have blown up here. Louisa is still busy hanging those streamers. Would it save time, if you hang up the ones I have here, while I continue blowing the rest up? I'm not very good at hanging them up but I can definitely help with the blowing." Alyssa smiled to both Kurumi and August hoping that they would take the balloons that she had already blown up.

Ohh, a party?! Ellie instantly grinned. She loved parties, even though she hadn't really been to many. Just a few birthday parties here and there. But this counted as one!

Smiling, Ellie skipped her way to the box with all the decorations. She pulled out some balloons and streamers. Walking back to where she was, Ellie puffed air into a balloon while weaving through other excited students. She tied it, pulled her wand out, cast: "Wingardium Leviosa!" And watched it float around. Then, she went to the next balloon and blew that one up too.

Once she ran out of balloons, she took some streamers and tossed them around, weaving in and out of people as she went. She even hummed to herself a little bit, wishing her friends or Dallin were in the class. She'd have to have fun with out them, then.

"Hey Ellie, I see that you have run out balloons. I'm sorry I may have taken all of them. But feel free to take as many as you want from this pile here. I'm helping to blow them up," Alyssa told the Ravenclaw girl.

William found a poater board. He wrote- DADA Block Party on it. He hung it up on the wall. " Kennercy, can you help me with the decorations?" William asked him. They work good together.

And then.. Baloons. Raven need to blow up some baloons. Since she didn't know how to blew up a baloons with magic, she blew up by the muggle way. With her mouth.

1 baloon... 2 baloons.. 3 baloons.. 4 baloons... 5 baloons..

Raven was exhausted, blowing some baloons. Then she stopped it and levitated the baloons..


"Wingardium Leviosa."

As Professor Schirmer explained the next part of the class, Stella smiled as it helped make the reason why they'd all been sitting on the floor in a basically empty classroom make sense. They didn't need furniture if they were going to be setting tables and thing sup now. Even if she still wasn't quite certain if her new chosen memory was going to be as strong as she thought, at least she could have some fun with it all. With balloons, streamers, and everything.

She just needed to get started, and went over to the box and gathered some balloons and things before she noticed a younger Slytherin girl with an inriguing idea for the streamers. Just not quite managing to get it to extend across the classroom quite well. Walking over, she dropped her own supplies at her feet as she wracked her brain for the girl's name. She knew it had been said in at least one class or another. "Sierra, right?," she said, once she thought she'd remembered correctly. She didn't want to get the girl's name wrong, after all, not if she wanted to help. "Did you want any help with the streamers?" She could duplicate them, at least, and then they could just shift the groups around the room instead of having to physically walk to a new area and then set everything up again. She wasn't about to just take over, though, so while she waited for the younger girl to reply, she used her wand to cast a slightly-modified hot air charm that her and Risa had worked on over the last year to blow up some of the balloons she'd brought over and idly levitated them into the center of teh streamer clump and pointed her wand again to cast the gluing charm. At least she could make things a bit more festive.

A party... on a DADA lesson?

Wow. That just seems too good to be true. Jonathan listened as the professor giving them instructions. This should be fun since it will be involving food and drinks.... oh and of course, the happy memories. After giving them full instructions Jonathan stood up and went to the first box that she had mentioned a while ago.

Inside has a lot of decorations to be put up. Colorful designs and a lot of party favors. Jonathan took out his wand to help out other students with the hanging of the decorations. "Wingardium Leviosa!" he uttered out then the colorful streamers flew up into the air.

He took another batch of streamers again. Colorful streamers, that is. And again, "Wingardium Leviosa" he hanged them on the opposite side of his first streamer. Now it looks better.

MJ got up and went over to some other First Year Ravenclaws, Pam and Nate. She didn't know them that well, but they were in her house and her year, so she wanted to join them. "Hi," She said shyly, picking up some streamers. About the only spell she could think of was Wingardium Leviosa, so she used that, coupled with ordinary blu-tack to pin the streamers up.

MJ smiled as the Gryffindor prefect walked right by her to greet the house elf that'd just come in. The First Year had pinned Kurumi as her role model, but had yet to ever speak to her, even though they shared quite a few classes. "Hi... Erm, it's Kurumi right? I'm MJ. We're in a lot of classes together..." The poor First Year stumbled over her words. She didn't really know exactly what else to say.

Looking at the house elf, MJ grinned "Hi, Pips! We're allowed to visit the kitchens? I never knew that or I would've dropped by sooner." She said, levitating more streamers up. "Here, have a hat!" MJ pointed the hat up to the elf's head with the levitating charm, and then let it fall gently to land at Destination Elf Head.

She smiled at Kurumi as it landed. "Doesn't that look great?" MJ handed a hat over to Kurumi, pulled one on herself and then handed some over to Nate and Pam.

Elise looked around for someone who she could do the decorations with when she saw Kourtney. Her Transfiguration classmate!

Waving at her, she walked over. "Want any help with those?" she asked, nodding at the decorations.

Jory got some of the streamers out of the first box. He thought of which spell would be right for hanging them up.
"Wingardium Leviosa!" he said clearly pointing his wand at the streamers which rose into the air and stayed by the ceiling when he cast "Fixate".

Rose grinned sheepishly. Decorating? Awesome! She pulled her wand out and pointed at the wall. 'Risona!' she said, waving her wand to make the ribbons present th word 'DADA' in the air. She grinned happily with her work and looked to see what was next. A party? Best. DADA. Lesson. EVER!

Has anyone started in setting up the table? Yes? No?

Jonathan went to look at the second box and saw a lot of cups and plates. Jonathan first took all the paper plates and on top a couple of cups. It should be enough to put on the table. He went over to the table on the first side of the wall he put the cups and plates in order. Yeah, Jonathan likes to keep things in order. Looking at it right now, he seemed to be forgetting something...

...Utensils and tablecloths.

He rushed to the box again and took out a handful of table clothes and utensils. You can't really accio them, unless you want to get hit by a bunch of flying plastic forks. Then he placed them beside the plate. It's better that way. Jonathan smiled as he looked at what he did. Very pleased about it.

Jonathan went back to the box again to get the same things, these plastic cups, utensils, paper cloth and paper plates needs to be distributed on each table, right.

Looking around the room and seeing that people were getting things moved along quite well, Kurumi turned her attention back to Pips and gently reached out for the tray of snacks, taking it from him, before standing back up. "Thank you for bringing us these," she said again with a small smile. "Will you be staying for the party?" Please say yes. "You should bring a friend." Double please!

Kurumi smiled and nodded. Good. Now Pips and August were friends! Everyone could use a house elf friend. They were such lovely creatures despite what people were saying these days. Some were even suggesting that the house elves were kidnapping students and hiding them in the kitchens and that was why it was off limits to them. Kurumi refused to believe it, although she had a few theories herself.

Kurumi blew and blew and blew until she was beginning to feel a bit light heading from all the air she had been exerting, and flopped onto the ground in exhaustion. She had a humble pile of balloons around her now in various shapes and colors, but couldn't bare to even look at another one of the rubbery things.

"Do you think that is enough balloons?" she asked with a slight hint of sarcasm.

Kurumi glanced over when she heard Alyssa come over. They hadn't actually gotten around to hanging up their balloons yet and were just finishing up the whole inflating process, but Kurumi was kind of sick of looking at balloons. That and she was now holding a tray of treats that prevented her from doing much else.

"August is hanging things up the non-magical way, so you can help him out," Kurumi nodded. Not everything had to be done with magic after all. Sure, they were at a wizarding school, but Kurumi rather enjoyed the moments where they were reminded that they were also humans. "I need to put these over at the table and then I can come back and help." She flashed the Hufflepuff a small smile before making her way towards the tables.

Where she ran into Jonathan setting up, placing all the utensils, flatware, and napkins out in only a manner that he could. He might think that his OCD tendencies were a bit much, but Kurumi rather liked them at times like this.

She waited for him to finish with one of the table cloths before setting the tray she had received from Pips on it. She looked up at him, her cheeks blushing just a bit, before reaching for some plates herself to help him finish the task. There didn't seem to be that many left with the ones he was working with. She would head back to help Alyssa and August afterwards. Ellie was also on balloons, so the three of them could most certainly handle things for a while.

"Want me to help you carrying any of the plates and cups to the tables?"

Then Kurumi heard the soft squeak of a voice that could only belong to a first year and she offer the young Ravenclaw a smile. "Nice to meet you, MJ. And you are right, I'm Kurumi," she said with a small bow. "The kitchens used to be open...but they are closed this term." She glanced at Pips for some sort of confirmation, but knew that the house elf was probably not at liberty to say anything or else risk beating itself with one of the plastic forks or cups that Jonathan was setting up.

Kurumi's eyes widened as a hat was handed to her. She hadn't been planning on wearing a hat, but she felt bad not putting it on. Didn't want to hurt the poor girl's feelings. "Yes, Pips looks very handsome." Which meant that he should go impress a certain someone, yes? "Um...thanks for the hat, MJ," she nodded as she slowly placed it on top of her head, slightly to the right.

Nessie went over to the first box and took some streamers and ballons. She tried as best as she could not to get tangled in the streamers and she set it at her feet.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" The streamers floated to the ceiling. Nessie admired her work before sitting down and getting to her next task. She gathered the deflated balloons at her side into a pile.

Louisa looked at the girl as she talked... without pausing to get breath. That was impressive, really. Finally and when the kid started blowing a balloon the Ravenclaw replied, "You can call me Louisa." Polite smile before looking up at her three streamers, "Which spell? I think you know the levitation charm, right?" They taught it in first year and this kid must at least be a firstie, although her confidence suggested older year. "The gluing charm is what I used to hang them on the wall, though. But we can collaborate on those streamers of yours!" Louisa nodded vigorously, "How about you levitate them and I glue them to the wall?" Without waiting for an answer, the older girl moved to another wall to start workin-

... blink. Did she just bump Ellie Johanson's shoulder? O__o Swallowing and blurting out a 'sorry' Louisa watched carefully if she broke anything in the girl. She was Dal's girlfriend and if he found out that Louisa somehow harmed or caused the girl to break, he would KILL her.

However, Ellie looked... happy. It'd been a long time since Louisa saw the girl smiling and beaming like this. If ever. It forced Louisa's mouth to twitch into a smile seeing the balloon in the older student's hand. "Are you using a specific spell to blow them?" She asked, so professional all of a sudden. Nothing distracted Louisa from real life like education. And she was proud of that.

Rose grabbed some things to help set up the table and walked to a boy also doing it. 'Hey, may I help?' she smiled, placing things on the table. She might as well. If they were having a party, it was going to be a good one. Rose liked parties. She needed one at this point, just something to do, you know? Get her mind off of her Mum. Violet would have loved to be here. She adored parties...

Jez grinned. A party! Well, that would make for an interesting lesson. She grabbed some streamers and balloons from the 1st box. "Wingardium Leviosa!" she commanded, swishing and flicking her wand at the streamers. They rose into the air and draped themselves over the rafters. Yep, easy. Now for the balloons ... Jez was sure there must be a better way to blow up the balloons than, well, blowing them manually, but she couldn't think of a charm for it at the present time. So she started blowing, and pretty soon, she had a whole army of multicoloured air-filled balls bouncing around her.
