| | |  Professor Maline's Office
 As you enter the room, you find that the room is bathed in a soft red light, as the Professor has draped sheets of red silk over the windows, so the sunlight is stained a soft red. It gives the office a warm glow, and when you look about, you realise that cupboards seem to circle the rooms walls. Towards one end of the office, the cupboards are all closed, and these are filled with spare cages. Pushed up against them, are bean bags of every colour for you to sit on, and a coffee table in the middle of them, with a plate of cookies on for you to help yourself too if you want a chat with her. The other end of the room, there is her desk, and the cupboards seem to be full of papers and strangely, feathers. On her desk, there is nothing much, but some rolls of parchment, a quill and ink, and two chairs either side. A picture is also on the desk, of what must be her twin sister, and her niece. Body-less Bob is also on her desk, snoozing at the moment, and you can't help but be a little thankful for that. A pile of cages are placed up against the cupboards, and a closed door. Behind this you have no doubt this is where the Professor keeps all her animals. Her room seems to be strangely clean, for a Care of Magical Creatures Professor, but as a snake curls up on her desk, and an owl lands on top of one of the bean bags, you're reminded of her position. Professor Maline looks up at you as you come in with a warm smile, and gestures for you to join her on the bean bags. | |

Aurora walked up to the door, knocked and then stuck her head in. "Excuse me, Professor Maline? I was in the Creature room and found this poor niffler with a hurt foot. What shout I do?"
Aurora was holding on to the poor creature. He wasnt happy about being held in a towel. Aurora had remebered that they like shiny things so she untucked her necklace from her Robes so he could watch it sparkle. She hummed him a little tune to calm him.

Worriedly, Natalie arrived at the front of Professor Maline's office with Rachel. She took one glance at Rachel then nervously knocked the door. She wondered how Professor Maline would react.
"Professor Maline!" Natalie called through the door, "I'm sorry to disturb you but we need to tell you something. It's quite urgent!"

Natalie gratefully walked inside and sat down.
"Thank you so much, Professor! I'm sorry to bother you, but I didn't know who else to come to!" she burried her head in her hands then looked back up at Professor Maline. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I couldn't help it! He just came! With help! I can't believe this!"
She paused, knowing she wasn't making any sense. "My father. Ringo!" she frowned, saying his name, "He helped my father. He's here! In the forest! At Hogwarts!" she shrieked, and tears trickled down her face. "He wants to see me! I can't go, can I? It's dangerous! Here." she handed the letter Ringo had passed onto her from her father to Professor Maline. Her hand was shaking as she handed it to her.

She listened, gravely. Then read the note she was being passed with a grim expression. What really stunned her though, was Ringo's involvement and Natalie's reaction.
"Why would Ringo help your father Natalie? And you are to stay. In. The. Castle." Ophelia said sternly, making it clear that if she was disobeyed, it wouldn't be just her fathers wrath she'd be facing.
"Have some chocolate, it'll calm you," Professor Maline said softly looking at the note once more.

She shook her head, "No thank you, Professor Maline." she didn't eat anything much anyway, and she feared if she put anything in her mouth she'd throw up.
"Ringo, I can't believe he's done this! He was so nice. I trusted him, he-he-he..." she trailed off. "He's different now, I can't believe I ever trusted him!"

She looked up at the Professor, "I wouldn't object, no. It would be such releif to not have him after me!" she wiped her eyes, "But do you really think he'd get lost on his own? We'd have to sabotage him. That's VERY dangerous. I don't want to put any more people in trouble."
She shrugged as Professor Maline talked about Ringo, more tears came. "Oh well, when I met him he was lovely. He was kind, loving, cute, happy, caring. You know, he cared about me, despite my past!" she sighed, and blushed slightly, she didn't usually reveal what she felt for anyone, especially Ringo, and now her cheeks were slightly red. "But now, now he's cold hearted, horrible, nasty. He's like a smaller version of my father, Professor! He doesn't care about me anymore. He hates me, loathes me! He's a nasty young man! I don't know why I ever trusted him! Now I can see him for what he is, he's showing his true colours. My brother was right about him." she ended with a sad sigh.

"Who said anything about him getting lost on his own?" She asked her with a rather cunning smile. "What did Eliza do to betray the family?" Professor Maline continued to ask, this seemed to be getting deeper and deeper by the moment.
"Trust me, i have means." She replied to Natalie's words of sabotage.
She sighed softly and shook her head. "Sounds like he needs a slap she mused," Standing up and walking over to her cupboard, she looked awkward for a moment.

Jasmine peeked around the door to Professor Maline's office and saw she was helping a student so she backed away. Leaning against the wall to wait, she slid down until she could rest her arms on her knees. Cinder sat comfortably on her shoulder while Felix sat next to her. Petting them absently, she stared straight ahead, lost in deep thought.

She didn't want to be a Malfoy anymore, and seeing as the Lestranges and Malfoys are related, my mother has always rather seen her as a daughter. There's a tapestry, that goes back centuries, to our decendents. It's called the Black Family Tapestry. If we are loyal to the family, if we please them, our names will remain on the tapestry. Well, after an argument with me, Eliza blowed her name off the taperstry, herself." she shook her head sadly, "The family obviously took my side in all of this. They've always expected more from me than Eliza. The heir of the family." she rolled her eyes, "It's pathetic! But well, Eliza has now been disowned from the family, I can only imagine what my father would want to do with her if he found her." she shuddered slightly.
Natalie crossed her arms, "Ringo needs more than a slap! He needs a good kick up the back side!" she smiled in the slightest for a few seconds, but her smile quickly disappeared as she realised there was one thing Professor Maline didn't know.
"Professor, last week. I wasn't at the school. My mother sent for me to come home, said it was urgent and that all the family had gathered at our manor to say goodbye to my grandmother. Apparantly she was dying." she sighed and shook her head, "When I got there, the only people there were my mother and father. They lied to get me to come home. Father took me to Egypt with him, he wanted me to help him murder some foreign wizards. But when it came down to it I couldn't. Those people didn't deserve to die, I couldn't kill them. My father, was very angry at this. He er, he-he tortured me--" she said the last few words in a high pitched tone of voice. "--worse than I've ever felt it before. It was horrible! I passed out, I woke up a few days later in a muggle hospital in Egypt. After I recovered I sneaked into a lobby and used their fireplace to floo to Hogsmeade. Then I walked back up to Hogwarts." she wiped a tear off her cheek, "I was so stupid! Why did I have to listen to them? I should've realised it was a trap! And now I think my father has come to Hogwarts to do the same, I don't know for sure. But I'd bet my life that if I meet him here, I'll feel the effects of the Cruciatus Curse again!"

Apparantly she was dying." she sighed and shook her head, "When I got there, the only people there were my mother and father. They lied to get me to come home. Father took me to Egypt with him, he wanted me to help him murder some foreign wizards. But when it came down to it I couldn't. Those people didn't deserve to die, I couldn't kill them. My father, was very angry at this. He er, he-he tortured me--" she said the last few words in a high pitched tone of voice. "--worse than I've ever felt it before. It was horrible! I passed out, I woke up a few days later in a muggle hospital in Egypt. After I recovered I sneaked into a lobby and used their fireplace to floo to Hogsmeade. Then I walked back up to Hogwarts." she wiped a tear off her cheek, "I was so stupid! Why did I have to listen to them? I should've realised it was a trap! And now I think my father has come to Hogwarts to do the same, I don't know for sure. But I'd bet my life that if I meet him here, I'll feel the effects of the Cruciatus Curse again!" She turned her blonde haired head back towards Natalie once more, and smiled softly, there was a glimmer of cruelty flickering behind her bright blue eyes and Anna her snake wrapped herself about her shoulders in a fond protective manner. "Really, you've nothing to worry about. Your father can be walking about in the Forest for a very very long time if you wish," She explained with a dark smile. She settled herself down in the bean bag a little more and shook her head softly. "You musn't fret about Eliza. She has taken her own path now, and there isn't much you can do about it. It was her choice to disown herself from your family. Eliza is strong willed, i'm sure she'll fare alright." She said to Natalie, silently reminding herself of Eliza's recent bout of insanity. She watched as Natalie looked delighted for a moment then her face fell. It seemed there was yet more to the story than she was being told. Ophelia listened patiently her eyebrows raised with surprise as Natalie spoke. "You have shown great strength in a different way Natalie, you knew that you had no reason to kill so you didn't. You went because you love your parents, deep down you do. So you trusted them and left. All though, i am surprised at Aveline for such a low trick," Ophelia finished.

Was this perhaps the darker side of Professor Maline coming out which she had heard about?
"What do you mean, Professor? How could that happen?" she asked, she was now looking very pale and worried. Never before had she tried to sabotage her parents.
Natalie shrugged when Professor Maline talked about Eliza, "She can do what she likes. She's gone against the family and she's gone against me! If she wants to be a traitor, then fine, so be it. She can do what she likes!" she shrugged again, that cruel, darker look returning to her face. "Eliza means nothing to me anymore, neither does Ringo!" she finished in a low hiss.
She smiled slightly at Professor Maline, "Thank you, Professor." she nodded, "That is quite a compliment." when she went on to talk about her mother her face fell, "It's more my father than my mother. Under his influences, she'll do whatever he wants. He means the world to her. She would rather die than betray my father, they're a rather strange couple. My mother is so independant, but when my father is around she turns into a completly different person, it's like he has some sort of spell over her. My suspicions were that she craves power and he can give it to her. Truth being told, I think my father see's her more as a trophy wife than anything. I don't know if you've ever met my father, Professor. But it doesn't really seem to me as if my father loves my mother." she sighed, sadly. She'd always looked up to her mother, but now she was seeing her in a whole different way.
"I love my mother, Professor. Yes, I do. More than anyone." she swallowed hard, "My father on the other hand, I fear him above all others. I-I sometimes feel as if he doesn't deserve to live. I-I sometimes wish the dementors had got to him."

She'd been busy trapping herself under layers of bubbly mirth and smiles to allow herself to remenice her old self. "I mean i have birds that can induce confusion Natalie, i can let them go and find your father if you wish." She explained, her bright blue eyes glittering darkly. "Don't look so worried, i won't do a thing without your word." Ophelia nodded sincerely, she truly meant it. Professor Maline nodded once more at Natalies next words, "Thats fine, it's your choice, just be aware that your choices can have some nasty repercussions." "You musn't feel upset Natalie. Your parents are in a relationship that works for them. No matter how disfunctional it may be. I'm not sure what else to say on that matter, but just know that your strong in your own way." Professor Maline said calmly and kindly. She shook her blonde head, and Anna hissed softly, "no i don't think anything less of you. You don't feel like he's done much for you at all so you have every right." She said fairly.

Slightly taken aback at the idea of sending birds after her father, Natalie nodded slowly, taking in what Professor Maline was saying.
"You have my word, Professor Maline. Anything to protect everyone from him, he has no right coming here. He's come for me, it's my fault if another student is hurt. Even Eliza thinks so. I would like to try and fix the problem but won't that put your birds in danger? My father is dangerous, and I know how much you love your animals." she smiled slightly, Natalie knew how easy it was to get carried away with animals. She was very fond of her pets, after all.
Natalie knew all to well that her choices could be rather sticky. She did rather miss having Eliza as a best friend, but since Eliza met Elijah, she had changed. She wasn't the same Eliza anymore.
"I am certain about my choices, Professor." she nodded.
She nodded, "Yes, they have an odd relationship, but who am I to judge?"
She smiled, gratefully as the Professor didn't think less of her, "Thank you, Professor." she raised an eyebrow, "Have you ever met my father?" she asked, not really sure whether Professor Maline understood her father like she did.

She nodded soberly, "I think you've made the right choice," Professor Maline said softly, and she then shook her head, Anna bearing her fangs in a frightening display. "These birds have an allergy to dying. They just won't. Not until they grow bored of life. I think they're a crossbreed of something. But i can't be sure what..." Ophelia mused, opening her cupboard and a pair of ebony feathered birds flew silently onto her shoulders, everything about them made her feel slightly sick and she opened the window.
"You know what to do," She said to the pair of birds, and let the onyx creatures glide over the treetops.
"I don't think i ever did meet your father no," Ophelia mused, closing the cupboard and locking it with several charms.

Natalie watched the amazing birds in awe, there was something about them which made her feel a little ill, but she couldn't help but think they were magnificent at the same time.
"Woah.." she said in barely a whisper as Professor Maline let them fly off through the window. "Maybe they're crossed with a Phoenix?" she suggested, "Phoenixes are rather unvanquishable creatures."
She nodded, "Believe me, Professor. You don't want to meet him either." she shook her head, "It's strange, I've never really spoken ill of my father before. But since coming to Hogwarts, I've seen him in a different life, both him and my mother. I expect if I were sorted into Slytherin instead of Gryffindor, then I would feel differently. I'm not quite sure."
She then started to play with her fingernails, nervously before looking up at Professor Maline. "Professor, what exactly will the birds do to my father?"

She continued to watch the birds glide over the tree tops until they weren't visable any more before turning her pearly blue orbs upon Natalie once more. "I have my suspicions that they come from Phoenixes. I've been looking into these two for a long time now, i don't understand them." She mused, then moved away from the window.
"We all see those we loved in different lights when we become ourselves," Ophelia explained rather uselessly, "You have found a path that suits you, and while you thought that your parents were everything, but now you are growing up and becoming independant, you know that your parents aren't everything anymore."
She looked back at Natalie and shifted Anna about her shoulders, "They made you feel sick yes? Well just with their mere presense they'll make your father feel ill, but he won't be sick. He'll become confused, and lost and humiliated because he'll be stumbling about trying to get away from something he cannot see. They will not harm your father. They will just induce the torment he has within himself." Professor Maline explained, gazing towards the trees once more, "Thats as much as i've figured anyway with those animals. They don't harm anyone."
