As you enter the room, you find that the room is bathed in a soft red light, as the Professor has draped sheets of red silk over the windows, so the sunlight is stained a soft red. It gives the office a warm glow, and when you look about, you realise that cupboards seem to circle the rooms walls.

Towards one end of the office, the cupboards are all closed, and these are filled with spare cages. Pushed up against them, are bean bags of every colour for you to sit on, and a coffee table in the middle of them, with a plate of cookies on for you to help yourself too if you want a chat with her.

The other end of the room, there is her desk, and the cupboards seem to be full of papers and strangely, feathers. On her desk, there is nothing much, but some rolls of parchment, a quill and ink, and two chairs either side. A picture is also on the desk, of what must be her twin sister, and her niece. Body-less Bob is also on her desk, snoozing at the moment, and you can't help but be a little thankful for that.

A pile of cages are placed up against the cupboards, and a closed door. Behind this you have no doubt this is where the Professor keeps all her animals. Her room seems to be strangely clean, for a Care of Magical Creatures Professor, but as a snake curls up on her desk, and an owl lands on top of one of the bean bags, you're reminded of her position.

Professor Maline looks up at you as you come in with a warm smile, and gestures for you to join her on the bean bags.

Ophelia raised an eyebrow curiously, what on earth was it with things and people? "What do you mean missing?" she asked Ashley, emphasising the last word in much the same way as she had. Ophelia got up from her rather comfortable position in the bean bags, and stood up, walkig quite quickly over to the cupboard where she held various food supplies, and pulled out a rather large bag for Ashely. Holding it out for her to take, she took a look about the office and smiled to herself.

Back to normal.

As Eliza seems to have calmed down somewhat, Neva pulls away from her hug and and stands up. She hadn't intended to get involved in any drame during her visit. It seemed as though drama followed her. She smiles at the young woman requesting pet food as she walks over to stand by Ophelia. She felt a little like a spare part but oh well...she was glad of a change of scenery.

Neva starts, looking down as a familiar looking beast begins to rub itself against her leg. Quaxo Jr. She smiles, picking the Cat up and scratching it behind the ear as it purrs affectionately. "Some things just never change around here" she sighs dreamily, referring to the drama.

"I think one of my roomies might have........ Taken it without realizeing it was mine" Ashley said almost happily, Ashley knew this wasn't true but decided that she didn't want to push her problems on anyone, espeacialy becuase she had no idea who had taken it.

Ashley didn't care about the other Ravenclaws takeing her things (they normally gave them back after a few days), but this time they had taken something important, and that she couldn't get more of very easily.

"Oh thank you Professor, thats more then enough to last untill the end of term" Ashley said happily walking over to Professor Maline and takeing the bag from her and smileing at all the women in the room, "I'm really sorry if i disturbed you ladies, It's just that i really needed food for Charlotte and she's just been soo upset recently..... My roommates don't really like her"

Eliza had begun to sob into Neva's shoulder as a ravenclaw knocked on the door.As she heard another voice,she quickly bit her lip to stop herself from crying even more and removed her head from Neva's shoulder.She took in a few sharp breaths to try and get her throat cleared as Neva stood up.She put a hand to her face and wiped the tears away "I--I've wasted both of your--of your time.I'd better go and-" she gave a small sigh "-and face my demons.I know that Leo and a few others will be looking for me." she stood up and brushed a strand of hair from her face "I'll try to find a room of soft things,Professor.The Hallway will probably be my best bet.I'll--I'll just go now." she stepped towards teh door but stopped and gave a small glance at Neva "I hope to see you again,Neva.Hopefully not when I'm--when I'm upset." she mumbled before exiting the office.

Neva gives Eliza a reassuring smile as she turns to walk out of the room. She did feel sorry for her, even if she did bring on alot of her grief herself. But she would learn in time. She supposed that she had to make these mistakes to learn from them.

Jasmine saw Eliza leave Professor Maline's office as she approached. She looked upset and Jasmine hoped she was OK. Peeking into the office she saw that the professor still had company and sighed. Backing away, she leaned against the wall a moment before deciding on whether to come back later.

Titling her head to the side Ophelia looked at Nicole curiously, something wasn't ringing true with the girls story, "Whats going on Nicole?" She asked her gently, noticing Eliza leave and Jas, appear. She smiled softly, this seemed to be a problem party.

"Jas! I can see you! In you come!" Ophelia called, plumping up the bean bags and summoning more hot chocolate, she was in a good mood helping people.

Jasmine jumped when Professor Maline yelled her name and that she could see her. Unable to stop a smile move across her face, she entered her office and said warmly,"Hi Professor Maline. I didn't mean to interupt.." She glanced at the other student apologetically. Sitting on a bean bag next to the professor she thankfully took a cup of hot chocolate feeling better already.

"What's up Jas?" Professor Maline asked her fondly, draping an arm around her shoulders and gave her a hug.

Jasmine put down her hot chocolate and returned the professor's hug warmly."Do you really want to know?" she quipped with a slight grin knowing that the professor might very well regret asking that question once she started telling her eveything. "First though, How are you? I feel like it has been a whole term since I saw you last." The last she said with a frown and her eyes quite sad. "I have missed you terribly."

Ophelia beamed down at her, quite frankly, she really didn't care, she was just perfectly happy listening to the troubles of her favourite student. "I do want to know, and it has been a while, i'm afraid i've been busy..." She sighed, the fatigue sinking back into her young twenty-nine year old frame again, only to be shaken off with a quick grin again.

Jasmine saw Professor Maline look quite tired for a moment before she shook it off. Worried, she asked, "Are you OK professor? You look very tired. We can just visit today if you like. My problems will still be here tomorrow trust me." The last she said a bit grimly, but soon smiled brightly and then started looking around what she hoped was casually for the ever present plate of yummy cookies.

She shook her golden haired head, "No Jasmine, it's better that mine are forgotten for the moment, whats wrong?" She asked again hugging her tight once more and made it clear she was ready to listen, pushing forward the heaving plate of cookies with an amused smile.

Jasmine's eyes lit up when the plate of cookies were passed to her. "Yay!" Grabbing a cookie she took a big bite and closed her eyes, happy for the moment. "Yum, professor, these cookies are great!" After she finished the cookie, Jasmine leaned her head on the professor's shoulder and said quite simply, "I'm lost."

Ophelia nodded simply understanding at once what Jasmine meant, "how are you lost?" She asked her gently, knowing that she was going to have an interesting answer from the spirited Gryffindor.

Trying to figure out where to start, Jasmine decided to give the short version. "Well, a bit ago I had gotten a message by owl post that said for me to be at the edge of the forest. Being curious, I of course went and promptly fell into a pit of poison hemlock. I accidently ingested some of the toxic sap but, luckily Professor Erikson found me and took me to the hospital wing. Anyways, I got another post but, this one was different. I don't think the same person sent both messages." Reaching into her robes she brought out a somewhat crumpled parchment. Aiming her wand at it she muttered," Aparecium." When the message appeared she handed it with a slightly shaking hand to the professor.

Ophelia took the parchment from Jasmine and raised an eyebrow, curiously, yet there was also fury coursing through her. Something she hadn't expected at all. It flickered behind her bright blue eyes quickly before she concealed it as she looked up at Jasmine. "This has scared you i take it?" She asked, a strangely cool tone to her voice.

Poison pen was not something Ophelia found amusing.

"What, or who, do you think would want to kill you Jasmine?" She asked her, a protective flare shooting up through her, something else she hadn't expected. Oh dear Ophelia. Taking on another student in a motherly way.

Jasmine saw Professor Maline's serene face become quite fierce and immediately felt bad. She hadn't meant to make her angry. "Of-of course I'm scared, but I need to find out the truth. I need to know if it's true. My fath-... the man who I know to be my father is a high ranking Auror at the ministry. So I am assuming that the "orders" came from there. But, why someone would want to hu-hurt me I don't know." Lifting her chin a bit she said in a shaky yet determined voice,"But I do know I am a Gryffindor. I have to be brave."

Ophelia nodded, the serenity washing back over her once more. "If you decide you absolutely must find out the truth, don't do this alone. As for being brave because of your house...just drop it. Be you. Not what you think you have to be when you're scared. Everyone needs to be frightened sometimes."

Oh thats it. Ophelia. That old muggle Angelina Jolie person ain't got nothing on you. Ophelia had definately taken another youngster under her wing like she had with Neva, but seeing as she had grown up...

Jasmine's look of determination fell from her face at the professor's words and she felt herself give in to her fear. With a sob she hugged Professor Maline and said,"I have to find the truth professor. I need to know who I am and why all this is happening or I will never feel safe again." Sniffing a few times she said, "Professor Erikson said he will try and help the best he can. But, I have a feeling I will have to do most of it alone."

She embraced the young girl back with affection, and smiled in a proud way over her. She was at least being herself. "You'll feel much better for it too," She said soothingly, fondly smoothing the girls hair. "I'll help you as well, and if you have to go most of it alone, you'll be a stronger person for it."

Neva lurks near the back of the room, pretending to be engrossed in one of the Professor's books on creatures of the Highlands. She was in truth listening to every word the youngster was saying. Oh how she could sympathise with her. She herself hadn't much family to speak of, thus denying her a true sense of her place in the world. It didn't matter so much now that she had Julian and a strong frinedship with Ophelia. But who did the girl have? She would have offered a helping hand with whatever the girl wanted, but she knew to ask would simply patronise her. A helping hand from a perfect stranger. She knew she wouldn't be that grateful for it. After all, she wouldn't be sure of their motives.

Jasmine clung to Professor Maline a moment longer before pulling back and giving her a somewhat watery smile,"Thank you Professor Maline, I know I can always count on you." Taking a fortifying breath, Jasmine wiped her cheeks of tears and said,"Professor Erikson has a friend at the Ministry that may be able to help find some sort of record or document that might tell me something. Atleast I hope so. I need somewhere to start."

Reaching for another cookie her troubled hazel eyes fell on the other girl still in the room and she felt guilty for barging in on her time with the professor. Giving her a rueful smile she said,"I'm so sorry to barge in on your time with Professor Maline. I'm Jasmine by the way."

Neva looks up from her feigned reading when the young girl addresses her. She smiles warmly, her deep chocolate eyes giving away her warm nature. "It really is no problem" she smiles. " I'm Neva Amos-Jacobs" she smiles. She really did love her new name, and the family and love that came with it. " i only wish some of my students were as consciencious as you" she smirks as an aside. Some of her pupils could be just downright rude on occasion.
