As you enter the room, you find that the room is bathed in a soft red light, as the Professor has draped sheets of red silk over the windows, so the sunlight is stained a soft red. It gives the office a warm glow, and when you look about, you realise that cupboards seem to circle the rooms walls.

Towards one end of the office, the cupboards are all closed, and these are filled with spare cages. Pushed up against them, are bean bags of every colour for you to sit on, and a coffee table in the middle of them, with a plate of cookies on for you to help yourself too if you want a chat with her.

The other end of the room, there is her desk, and the cupboards seem to be full of papers and strangely, feathers. On her desk, there is nothing much, but some rolls of parchment, a quill and ink, and two chairs either side. A picture is also on the desk, of what must be her twin sister, and her niece. Body-less Bob is also on her desk, snoozing at the moment, and you can't help but be a little thankful for that.

A pile of cages are placed up against the cupboards, and a closed door. Behind this you have no doubt this is where the Professor keeps all her animals. Her room seems to be strangely clean, for a Care of Magical Creatures Professor, but as a snake curls up on her desk, and an owl lands on top of one of the bean bags, you're reminded of her position.

Professor Maline looks up at you as you come in with a warm smile, and gestures for you to join her on the bean bags.

Neva bites her lip, feeling as though the flood gates would remain open. She hadn't cried like this since Hyde. Perhaps there was something about Oph-Professor Maline, which allowed her to free herself from the fiscade she had constructed around herself. She wasn't used to showing so much emotion. She was a firm practitioner of the bottling it up method. She didn't know any other way......

"Neva, i really think you should go after him," She said softly, "And call me Ophelia, i don't think i can quite treat you like a student somehow," She mused, wiping away a tear from Neva's cheek.

Neva closes her eyes as Ophelia - wow.It felt strange to call her that - wipes away a tear. Just like her mother used to. Should she? Could she for that matter? There was so much keeping her here, yet she felt as though a part of her had left with Julian. But how could she leave when she doesn't even know where he is? He would have told her where he was headed if he truly wished her to be with him. Maybe her logical reasoning was right. " Ophelia...That sounds strange" she muses quietly. " Oph...he would have told me where he was headed if he wanted me with him. Perhaps he deliberately left out that detail to prevent something like this from happening".

Ophelia nodded silently, closing her pearly blue eyes slowly before opening them and looking at Neva once more. She tilted her blonde head to the side, and gave a wry smile, "Maybe so Neva, but you love him, so, when you know when, and when you are ready, go." Professor Maline nodded.

Neva furrows her eyebrows slightly as Ophelia smiles at her. She wondered what was passing through her mind. " Even if I have to leave in the middle of the night? " she smirks. She couldn't help but think that it would be a difficult feat, leaving so suddenly. Unless she left during a visit to Hogsmeade...

"Well that could be quite interesting," She laughed suddenly, and shook her head once more, "Do what you think is best." She was beginning to sound like a broken record.

Neva crumples her nose slightly as Ophelia laughs suddenly. Perhaps she had missed the joke. " I know... Just as long as I don't break too many school rules, right?" she says, sitting up straight and wiping her sore eyes with her sleeves. Her stomach growls nastily, making her jump slightly.

Ringo walked past the office, trying to look innocent and casual. In one of his hands, was a white rose. He slipped it under the professor's door, quickly and bolted off, feeling his face burn.

She nodded once more, it seemed to Ophelia like she could just...nod the world away. It would help, she was still feeling ridiculously fragile from yesterday. Sighing she looked up at Neva and smiled lightly, "Unless you feel it's necessary, but i don't recommend it." She said quietly, offering her the cookie bowl.

As the rose skitted across the floor, Ophelia picked it up and smiled lightly, "Hm, my favourite," She mused to no-one in particular, and tucked it into her hair, feeling slightly better about everything.

Leo knocked before he would come in. Of course he had to be a gentleman. Ladies like the gentlemen. Knocking twice Leo waited for the Professor to open the door. And before she did. Leo started to tidy up himself.

Ophelia jumped, not again. Another disturbance? She sighed, and checked to see if the rose was still settled in her hair. "Come in!" She called, hoping her face wasn't too puffy from the sobbing.

Leo looked around as the Professor opened the door. Alone. Good,this is what Leo wanted. Now he could start what he was set off to do.Leo looked up at the Professor and saw that her face was puffed up. That only meant one thing, she was crying. Oh goody.

"Professor, I need to tell you something. I've known it for a while but--but I was just afraid to tell you" He said as he gave his best look of puppy eyes

It was Leo, oh lordy. Was he back to flirt with her? She gave a weak smile, at him and gestured for him to sit down as she dabbed at her face. Oh why oh why did everything happen today?

"What is it Leo?" She asked him weakly, raising her eyebrows as he gave her the puppy dog eyes. She was tempted to get out a can of dog chow, but some how thought that wasn't going to be appropriate. Maybe a cat to chase instead? Oh boy did she hate that expression.

Leo smiled weakly. He tried to act as though he was feeling guilty about hiding a HUGE thing from her.Leo knew what he was doing, he always did these kind of things. "Professor...It's about Professor Erickson. I don't know how to say it-- I mean I didn't really wanted you to know. But I can't handle not telling you"

Ophelia looked at him curiously, and raised an eyebrow. His name had been brought up yet again! In this office, what was it with people? "What was it that you wanted to tell me Leo?" She asked him, slightly intrigued.

Leo beamed. Good he got her attention. That's what he needed. Leo started to ruffle his hair nervously and bite his lower lip. As though he was about to spill a HUGE secret.

"Well, Professor. I know that Professor Erickson hates animals. He may tells you that he likes 'em. But, my friend who is not going to be named saw him in Diagon Alley torturing a poor owl!" Leo told the Professor. He just hoped he'd believe her.

She narrowed her eyes sharply, very suddenly. He'd gone from looking guilty, to grinning, back to guilty very quickly. She wiped the look off her face quickly and replaced it with one of 'shock'. Yet, there was too much to that that didn't ring true...

"Oh..." She said quietly, throwing herself into the roll. All she needed now was an Oscar for the best actress and Ophelia would be off, milking her namesake. She looked up at Leo, thinking of all the incidents where his sentence had been proven wrong. "I um...why would he hurt an owl in a public place?" Professor Maline half sobbed, with a lot of help from her previous crying reason.

Leo noticed that the Professor had a look of 'shock'. He had to be careful not smile. Or he'd blow his cover. Leo clapped his hands together and shook his head. "I can't believe him" he kept muttering under his breath. But it was loud enough for the Professor to hear.

"Professor, I know I don't know you much. And you don't know me" Leo pointed out plainly. "But, I do care about my Professors. And I have been hearing that you and Professor Erickson have been seeing each other. And-- well, I just thought you had the right to know" he said as he ruffled his hair and looked at his feet.

"Oh. He didn't do it in public. No one would do it in public. He did it in Leakey. My friend told me that he was going to his room and then he had heard an owl screeching. He looked around and saw a creak on the door. He looked through and saw this man hitting an innocent bird-" Leo sighed "When we came to school he pointed me to Erickson and said that he had hurt that owl. Poor thing."

Ophelia blinked. Something still felt pretty staged about this, and she wasn't sure what. Maybe it was Leo, the puppy dog eyes look still had her wanting to reach for one of the many leashes about, but then. With Leo's reputation, maybe having him on a leash wouldn't be such a bad thing.

"WAIT! Seeing each other?" Ophelia yelped. Good lord when had that happened? These students could talk! "I thought he was with Professor Baylock!" She exlaimed, her eyes wide and surprised. This alleged 'animal abuse' shot out of her thoughts. That didn't make sense anyway, Armand didn't come across as a liar.

Leo blinked at the Professor while she blinked. Why was she blinking. Was she not believing this? Leo wasn't going to panic now. He had to do what he had to do. Was he forced to cry? no he'd have to see his chances first.

Leo frowned, weren't they seeing each other? Well think was a surprise. "Well Professor. Apparently Professor Erickson is playing both you ladies." He nodded, "Believe me Professor. I flirt a lot I know a guy who is a huge flirter when I see one. Plus, he hurts animals. What would you want with a guy that would just hurt your heart in the end?"

None of this made sense! She wasn't with Professor Erikson...Natasha was...wasn't she? She shook her head. Then looked up at Leo with a surprising glimmer of annoyance flickering about her. Absolutely none of this made sense.

"The thing is Leo, I'm not seeing Professor Erikson, we're good friends, and i would believe you, yes, i really might if absolutely any of this made sense. Yes, Professor Erikson is rather a charmer, but i think i've already been hurt enough." She ranted, to her surprise finding her cheeks were damp again. Oh for goodness sake. She was crying again.

Woah woah. Was she crying. Something must have gone wrong. Where was the switch off button!? Darn women and their crying thingies. Men don't need to cry. They just shout, easy as that. No crying needed at all. Now onto the switch off button.

"Oh. Well, I think that's good for you Professor. A man like him shouldn't be trusted with animals. And yourself of course" he smiled weakly as he reached out to grab her hand. "Let it all out Professor. You don't need to be hurt anymore. He isn't good enough for you"

No. She absolutely did not need sympathy. Especially when the silly little boy had got it all wrong! Ophelia roughly wiped away the tears with the back of her woollen sleeve and looked at Leo sternly. Oh yes. She could be stubborn too.

She sighed, and brushed her hair behind her ear, the white rose from earlier staying in the knot. "It would be nice to have your comfort if you knew what i was actually crying about," She said tersely, and her stubbon manner refused her the luxury of crying again...for the next thirty seconds anyway...

She still didn't get why he was on about Armand...

Leo sighed. He should have gone to Erickson first. Women just love to...talk. Looking at the Professor closely. Leo noticed that she was very stubborn. "Want me to get you a tissue professor?" Leo asked as he noticed her wiping away the tears with her sleeves.

Leo weakly smiled. "Well, Professor. I'm here, so why don't you tell me about why you're crying?" he said as he gently patted her hand. He really felt sorry for her. A pretty girl wasted on a guy like Erickson. How sad.

"Well Professor?"

The door to the office swung open and Ringo stormed in, looking furious. In his hands was the professor's monkey. "I believe this is yours. He chewed up my Divination homework."
