Muggle Studies Lesson One: I'm gonna mail myself to you
Ready for your first muggle studies lesson of the term? Professor Meredith Moxley is. She's arranged the space so that rows of tables are situated around the room, two chairs at each one. All tables are facing front and the arrangement has put Professor Moxley's desk, and the large floating white board just behind it, directly in your line of sight. She is, after all, the main attraction.
You'll find your professor sitting behind her desk, humming a tune to herself as she fiddles with the bright orange vest she's wearing for this occasion. The zipper in the front appears to be stuck but NO WORRIES, she's got this covered! Why don't you go find a seat and class will be getting started shortly. Oh and don't forget to check out the board! Your first assignment is already up there.

Welcome to Muggle Studies!
Please fill out the sticky name tag located at your table with your name, nickname, house, and year! Then slap it on your shirt! Class will be starting soon!
Ayyyyy, check Toby out with his good answer. He beamed right back at Professor Moxley when she gave his response the metaphorical stamp of approval, before quickly scribbling down as much information in his notes as he could before they moved on.
He stepped up to the front when everyone was instructed to, craning his neck around to look for someone to pair up with who wasn't already with someone else. The whole 'finding someone you'd trust' part didn't really matter so much to a boy who trusted literally everyone he came into contact with, but his mind did initially go to Soph or Luc or Forrest or Phoenix or Eden or... well, literally everyone he knew so really he could pick anyone today. Even a NEW friend if one presented themselves.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when
Cilla was happy that she was doing so well in the class. Cilla was now looking around for anyone to be her partner. She was getting a bit nervous. She didn't know many students.

They were partnering up? Evie was scribbling things into her notebook when this was announced, but she quickly got up from her seat as everyone got partnered up. This was the hard thing about being new. Most people were able to partner up with their friends really fast. Evie looked around for a lone somebody until her eyes landed on the prefect she had met at the bookstore.
"I do," she said with a small smile, raising her hand as if to say 'pick me'. Because she didn't want to get stuck with the professor, either. No offense to her.

Yeah that would be Ruby's fault. Zahra was totally in the know with some veeeery particular Grayson-related information and some of his... preferences.
But she had to find a partner herself...
... and who better than probably the most trustworthy person in the room? Ruby claimed Toby, simply by sauntering over to stand next to him and giving him a hip bump.
I chose you, Pikachu.

"Okay, sure." Hady agreed with a nod of her head confirming her agreement on the matter. Now that they were partners what was next?
She understood the slight lack of enthusiasm. Brooklyn hardly trusted anyone else at Hogwarts either, but then she also knew it would be a lot better having a partner who she knew rather than just some other student. Or the professor, which could have been even worse. She didn’t know why they were told to partner up in the first place, but at least she was with another snake. One who she knew was at least close to deserving of her attention. Hady was cool, that wasn’t a question. Partnering up with her should be fun, no matter what they were doing.
“Okay,” she replied, returning the nod as well. They didn’t need to say much more than that. Slytherin communication skills. If only everyone else had those, but then, she didn’t really want that. She liked being better than people, and right now she just wanted to know what they were going to be asked to do. Not to mention there was the question of why they’d been asked to line up at the front of the room in the first place. What rearranging was going to happen with the desks and everything.

"Zeke... thats an amazing name" taking the boys hand she shook it and giggled at the "second year" part.
Only a year older than her, but she was so much shorter than everyone else. "Im Echo, first year" she copied him and released his hand. "do you know what were going to be doing?" she hadn't been really paying attention and she hoped that he was because all this muggle stuff was totally over her head.
"Sucky," he interjected, knowing completely how being left out could feel. It was sucky. There really was no better way to put it, and he was confident in thinking even a Ravenclaw with a thesaurus for a brain couldn't think up anything more appropriate.
But oh cool, she thought his name was 'amazing'?
More grinning happened.
"Glad you like it, I used to hate it, but don't mind it much anymore... it's actually Ezekiel, but nobody calls me that." Not even Emily, except for those two times... but he was happy enough to pretend that they hadn't happened. "Nice to meet you.. and uh, Echo huh? Like the sound Echo? That's pretty neat." Again, Hogwarts was teeming with people who had names he'd never considered names before. It was CRAZY, but cool, just took some getting used to.
As for what they were doing today? He shrugged. NO IDEA. "Maybe we're going to do some role playing? Like, send each other letters or something the way a muggle would?" Only, not really, because they were in a classroom, not a suburb.

This was good. She didn't have to explain herself to Brooklyn because she knew she'd understand. Slytherin's didn't trust people. It was just how they were. So luck for her the two of them were on the same page there and she didn't have to feel bad for not jumping up and down and being incredibly perky.
Remaining beside her partner Hady let her eyes roam around the room while they waited to further instructions. Silently she was checking to see whom was working with whom, cause really what more was there to do at this moment? Nothing.

While the kiddos did the whole pairing off thing, Meredith focused on pushing all the chairs and tables to the sides of the classroom. She also worked her magic on the floor and with a swish of her wand, made it more spongy in case of any spills during the activity. What? SHE was totally allowed to use her wand, especially if it meant looking out for the well being of her students. She was SO thoughtful, Moxley was. One more flick and there were lines running the length of the room, creating lanes for who could say what. She wasn't letting on too much yet, just getting prepared. Only when all of this was done did she clap her hands together so she could have the attention of the room once more.
"Alright, you lot, listen up! You and your partner are to come over to my desk and decide which of you will be the post person and which of you will act as the parcel." Moxley bent down and produced two boxes that she placed on her desk, one containing many vests just like the one she was wearing. The other box contained all kinds of bubble wrap. "Once you've made your decision, the post person of your group is expected to wrap their 'parcel' in bubble wrap, a material used to make sure delicate packages don't get damaged during the delivery process." She grinned. Were they excited yet? "Be sure that whoever is acting as the parcel still has their neck, head, legs, and feet free so that they can walk and talk." Y'know, in case that much wasn't obvious. Some kids took things VERY literally and she didn't want anyone being cocooned in bubble wrap. "And then secure the bubble wrap with the Sellotape on my desk."
"We've only got a short time before we have to jump into our main activity so let's get a move on!" And with that, she stepped off to the side and let the kids get to work.
OOC: So this is our mini activity. Please have each pair decide who will take on the role of parcel and who will be the post person. The post person should wear the vest so Moxley can keep track. Then have the parcel person get wrapped up. Two posts each should do it! Enjoy!
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Of course Benny would agree to be his partner. Adi grinned as the Gryffindor stood beside him. He watched Moxley at work before turning his attention to AJ. It looked like Zander was her partner. Good. The other fifth year would take care of his lion.
Adi raised an eyebrow at Benny. He was dying to wrap the bestie in bubble wrap. Hehe. Buuuut, since he had practically demanded that Benny be his partner, he decided it was only fair that the other boy decide which role he wanted to play. "Parcel or post person?" he asked as he led the way to Moxley's desk.

Oooohhh so THAT's what they were doing.
Zeke beamed in the Professor's direction, and then continued to beam as he turned to his partner. This was going to be awesome fun!
"Which do YOU want to be?" he asked, "I don't mind being either." So naturally he was doing the gentlemanly thing and letting the girl decide. Her choice. Parcel or Postie?! The idea of wrapping was fun, but the idea of being wrapped was equally as exciting. Wait, was this going to be a race of sorts? If they both had their legs? A... four legged package delivery race???

Standing off to the side she watched as Professor MOxley made lines across the floor and then brought out boxes of vests or-or bubble wrap? Hady couldn't help but raise an eyebrow questioningly at this confusion clear in her eyes. It only took a moment for the Professor to explain what they'd be doing next before she understood.
Turning to her partner she asked the simple question of whom was doing what. "Which would you like to do? The postwomen or the parcel?" Either way Hady didn't mind. She wouldn't let Brooklyn fall if she wanted to be the parcel and she knew Brooklyn would do the same for her.
Amur nearly bounced out of her shoes. Now this sounded like fun.
Grinning, she spun to her partner. Wrapping or being wrapped sounded like equal amounts of fun, so she wasn't going to be picky about which role she took. If neither of them cared, then they could always rock-paper-scissors it up.
"So, Abby. Which do you fancy? The wrapper or the wrapped?" It sounded like a bad muggle reality show.

I chose you, Pikachu.
Toby WAS aware of Ruby coming over, of course, and before he had the chance to turn and give her a smile he got that hip bump of destiny. So... he was taking that to mean they were partners now. So she thought him trustworthy? That... made him happy, yep.
"Hi," the sixth year said with a smile, and was about to ask Ruby what she supposed they'd be doing when Moxley spoke up and explained just that. Okay. Toby glanced at Ruby and started to lead them over. "D'you want me to be the parcel? My grandma always says it's be a good idea to wrap me up in bubble wrap." And Ruby was always so super stylish, he wasn't sure if she'd consider the bubble wrap to fit in more with her aesthetic, or the vest.
If she agreed, then wrap him right up. Toby was born ready.

Angel listened to the Professor and then turned to her partner. "You want to decide the rolls?" Angel thought it would be cool for the first year to be able to decide and she didn't really care about what she did as long as the first year was happy she was happy.

Oh geez.
"So um, which role do you want to be?" he asked her. He didn't care...because either option sounded just awful.

Amur nodded, carefully placing her backpack to the side. "I'll be careful with you, I promise." She gave a pat-pat to the other girl's arm before hurrying up to the desk.
She wasn't a great wrapper by any means, but she knew how to wrap carefully, so that was all that mattered. And the bubble wrap looked safe enough. Not like she could give her partner a paper cut with this wrap.
Gathering up the vest, the wrap and some tape, Amur waddled back over to her partner, a wide grin on her face. She put the stuff down, shrugged into her vest and buttoned it up. Once she was all out-fitted in costume, she picked up the tape and the wrap and grinned at Abby.
"Alright. Arms out, feet apart....oh, did you want to tie your hair back?" Cause getting hair caught in tape was not a fun time. Stuffing her items under her arm, Amur fished in her pocket for a hair elastic. "I have an extra one if you need it."

.... Well, that was odd. Nothing like her Muggle Study classes back home. Never before had she been wrapped in bubble wrap, but the idea actually sounded kind of fun. Evie looked back at her partner who seemed less than enthused.
"Wanna wrap me up?" He could be the postman. He could have the boring job. Evie started to lead them over to the professor's desk where the supplies were so they could get started. Why she was oddly excited about this, she had no idea.

This was going to be interesting. They were going to be mailman and package. Janelle couldn't wait to see what they would be doing for the main activity. Then her new partner said that she could decide who got to play what role.
"Really? I get to choose?". That was really nice of Angel. After giving it a little thought, she made a decision. "I can be the bubble wrapped package, if you don't mind wearing the orange vest.". Hopefully Angel would be OK with that.

Time for activity time. He heard the professor mention that one person needed to be the post person and the other had to be the package. He understood and he looked over at Puck and asked, "So who do you wanna be? Do you prefer to be the post person or the parcel?" He frankly didn't care which role he had. He probably would have more fun being the parcel but he wanted to hear what the Gryffindor Prefect had to think.

"Um, sure," Caleb said. He was a bit relieved - being wrapped in bubble wrap did NOT sound like Caleb's cup of tea - but it was still a bit weird. Wrapping up a girl like a burrito? That was not something Caleb could say he'd ever done...
He went over to the box and grabbed the vest, putting it on before grabbing a bunch of bubble wrap as well. He didn't think he'd need THAT much...but he got more just to be safe.
"Alright, ready?" he said with a smile. He figured she'd put her arms to the sides and he'd just go...around like that, yeah?

Mini activity time? YAY! She didn’t really know which she wanted to be all she really knew was that it was SO much fun to work with bubblewrap, heck as a kid she and her cousins would wrap each other in it and try to run at eachother…whoever lost the most bubbles first well was out and it was like bubble wars. So much better than cupcake wars.
“Oh…I don’t know, lets grab the stuff first,” she grinned at Kace. “Actually how about you be the bubble person for now and tell me how it is?” She grinned. Maybe she could wrap herself up and send herself to someone sometime? She’d have to coordinate a bunch of owls to work with her but hey that would be an interesting wouldn’t it?
She walked over and grabbed the vest and shuffled into it…hey not bad.

Angel then went and started to wrap her partner, she just hoped that she wasn't hurting her new friend. She was being as gentle as she could and she smiled when she had finished. "Everything okay?" Angel hoped that Janelle was okay, she had left the places the Professor told her alone. "If you need a hand just say my name okay?" Angel looked at her partner.

They were going to role play the parts of a post man and a parcel? Um...okay. Thankfully she elaborated on the description of the activity and he found out the so-called inanimate object wasn't going to be totally captive in this...bubble wrap. Benny half expected Adi to jump at the idea of wrapping him up, but the Hufflepuff decided to leave the decisions up to him so he could pick who did what. Decisions...decisions...but alas he had an idea on the matter.
