Middle Floors The central floors of the castle contain several classrooms, the headmaster's office, and numerous nooks and crannies to explore. Be careful around the portraits because they are not known to be the best at keeping gossip to a minimum.

Default Art Classroom

Located not too far from the Muggle Studies classroom is where you can find a space dedicated to all things related to arts and crafts. In this classroom, students such as yourself will be exposed to famous historical and modern Muggle and Wizard artists and strengthen your artistic abilities. Here numerous styles and techniques will be observed, and an array of projects will be produced and put on display for all to see.

When you enter the art classroom, you quickly realize that it is not set up like others in the castle. There are no desks in the vibrantly coloured room covered with paintings and other gizmos and gadgets aplenty. In the centre is a large table that is meant to serve as a universal workstation. Scattered around the room are smaller, individualized tables, easels, and shelves containing a number of books and any supplies your creative mind may need. Tucked in the back is a dark room for developing photographs. Everything in this room is for you to use, so long as you clean up after yourself.

*sappysapper* MAJNOO, YO!

The Art Classroom smelled faintly of paint, parchment, and the sort of optimism that suggested someone, somewhere, believed creativity could be taught. Marina was beginning to suspect that person had never met her.

She sat alone at one of the smaller tables near a window, tongue caught between her teeth in concentration as she stared down at the card in front of her.

It stared back. Judgmentally.

"I don't know why you're being difficult," she informed it. The card remained unmoved. Marina sighed dramatically and leaned back in her chair, leaving a faint streak of blue paint on her cheek where she'd forgotten she had paint on her fingers.

The original plan had seemed simple enough. Make Adrian an apology card. Not because she thought a card would magically fix things, but because talking was harder. Talking required finding the right words. Cards let you hide behind glitter and decorative borders.

Unfortunately, making the card required art, which was proving to be a significant obstacle. The table around her looked like the aftermath of a minor crafting disaster. Colored paper, paint pots, abandoned sketches, three broken attempts at drawing stars, and what had once been intended to resemble a moon but now looked vaguely like a potato.

The front of the card currently featured a lopsided constellation she'd spent twenty minutes trying to draw. Several stars were different sizes. One appeared to be falling. Another looked suspiciously like a spider.

It was terrible.

Marina loved it anyway.

Because despite everything, despite avoiding Adrian for far longer than she'd meant to, despite the guilt that kept twisting in her stomach whenever she spotted him across a room, she was trying.

Which counted for something.

Didn't it?

Marina dropped her forehead onto the table with a soft thunk. For a moment she stayed there, arms folded beneath her head, staring sideways at the disaster she'd created. Then, because giving up had never really been one of her talents, she lifted her head again, grabbed another pen, and continued working.

Even if the final product looked like it had survived a small explosion.

Adrian would probably survive it too.
