Muggle Studies Lesson One: I'm gonna mail myself to you Ready for your first muggle studies lesson of the term? Professor Meredith Moxley is. She's arranged the space so that rows of tables are situated around the room, two chairs at each one. All tables are facing front and the arrangement has put Professor Moxley's desk, and the large floating white board just behind it, directly in your line of sight. She is, after all, the main attraction. You'll find your professor sitting behind her desk, humming a tune to herself as she fiddles with the bright orange vest she's wearing for this occasion. The zipper in the front appears to be stuck but NO WORRIES, she's got this covered! Why don't you go find a seat and class will be getting started shortly. Oh and don't forget to check out the board! Your first assignment is already up there. Quote:
Lesson Progression: First Question! Responses and Question 2! Responses and Question 3! Responses and PARTNER UP! Mini Activity Main Activity Wrapping it up. ...Heh, geddit? OOC: Please be sure to familiarize yourself with Moxley's rules before the lesson and all snitchseeker rules apply! |
Norah halted her skipping and walked normally through the door to the Muggle Studies classroom with her head held high. New professor meant she could show off how OLD and MATURE she was now, uh huh. The thirteen year old smiled at Professor Moxley as she paused in front of her and held out a hand. "Hello, Professor Moxley! I'm Norah Kittredge. Third year." THIRD year. Did she HEAR that? That was OLD. Taking a seat right in the front 'cause she was the very first one, Norah laid her materials on her desk. She had read alll the rules before coming to class and there was nothing about only writing in pencil like the old Muggle Studies Professor had required, so she dipped her quill in the sparkly purple ink she had purchased over the summer and wrote her name on her name tag. Abby walked into the muggle studies classrom and smiled and said "Good day Professor Moxley" Abby knew that she was new but it was polite to great the professors, taking the name tag she wrote down her details Quote:

"Hello Professor!" Hady chirped warmly as she entered the Muggle Studies class. She was in a good mood today having finally gotten a decent amount of sleep and gotten something to eat before making her way to class. Picking a seat near the front so she could be sure to see when class started she slipped into the seat placing her bag at her feet. "Hi Norah, hi Abby." She greeted the other girls with a wave before taking out her textbook, parchment and quill. Spotting the name tag on her desk she filled it out with the asked for information. Quote:

The first thing Adi noticed when he stepped into the classroom was the floaty board. It reminded him that they could even use quills in the class. Hmph. He liked Professor Hadley no magic policy more. It was Muggle Studies after all. But, Professor Moxley was awesome too and the Hufflepuff liked the lady. Then again... Adi likes everyone even if he didn't know them that well. "Hello, Professor. Need some help?'' Brown eyes darted back to the board to re-read the instructions. Ohh... nicknames. Was Moxley going to use their nicknames? He was a fan of nicknames. Waving to Norah, Hady and Mari, Adi opted to sit at the desk with Abby. "Hi, Abby.'' Quill out, the boy began to write down the requirements then sticking it to his robes. Quote:

SPOILER!!: Hady :) Muggle studies. It wasn't the concept of the class that perturbed her. In fact, she didn't mind muggles at all. Not one bit. It was just that the name of the class put a bit of a bad taste in her mouth. Studies. Muggle. Muggle studies. Studying muggles. What her dad supposedly did. Le sigh. Spotting a familiar face, Amur moisied over to Hady and half-sat-half-stood in the empty seat next to her. "Hey Hady. Is it okay if I sit here?" Because she would totally move if it wasn't. Which was why she wasn't fully sitting yet. She did take the opportunity of her advantageous hunched-over position to fill out the name tag on the desk though (something which she could also replace if she moved). Quote:

While Silas mostly thought Muggle Studies was a useless subject he attended anyway. Anything was better than laying under his bed in the dorms all day! Yes. Under. Not on. Smiling at the new professor he took a seat near the back of the room and looked for Archie before picking up his name tag. Quote:

Hayden was prepared for muggle studies. And happy. She had a small smile on her face as she made her way to the classroom. She quite liked muggle studies because she was actually pretty good at it. It made sense, considering all her family on her father's side were muggles. And muggle studies was always fun. Hopefully it would continue to be fun with the new professor. Hayden missed Hadley, and she hoped the new professor would be nice. "Hello professor," she greeted when she entered the room. At least this one wasn't a cat. Well, probably not. Hayden looked around the room. "Hey Norah, can I sit with you?" First nametag. Right. Quote:

Muggle studies. She had signed up for this subject too. Mostly because she knew she would do really good in the classes. Dad was like a modern day Arthur Weasely. So she knew plenty about muggle stuff. Plus her mom was a muggle. And her dad made sure she knew about that part of her family.* She walked into the classroom. She smiled at the new professor and said "Good morning, professor." Mmmm she had heard that song somewhere before she couldn't remember where though. Taking one of the sticky name tags she wrote... Happily Lux skipped into the classroom. She was excited for Muggle Studies because it was one of her favourite subjects and she already liked the Professor. "Hello, Professor Moxley!" Waving to everyone in the room, she took a seat beside Cinna and worked on filling out the provided name tag: Quote:

It was time for another lesson. He heard there was a new teacher this term and he was excited to meet her. As he made his way into the classroom he noticed some students made their way here already. He also noticed that the professor was listening to some music. He wondered where it was from but then decided against it. He bopped along to it and sat down in his seat. As he sat down he noticed the new teacher. [b]"Hiya teach." /b]he greeted her. He just wanted to make the greeting not soo professional but he wanted it as a nice greeting. He saw that he needed to write a name tag and he got out his quill and began to scribble.... Quote:

Abby smiled as Adi came and sat beside her and said "Hey Adi" |
"Hello professor," Domino said as she walked inside. She grabbed a sticky name tag and wrote her name, house, and year on it. She really didn't have a nick name. Quote:

Muggle Studies. Now this was a class that Janelle hoped to do well in. She entered the classroom and stopped short. Spotting the professor, she was a little surprised by her outfit. With a neon orange vest on, she looked like a crossing guard or someone about to work on a construction sight. Wondering what was in store for the class, Janelle greeted her. "Hello Professor. I like your vest." A person certainly couldn't be missed in a getup like that. Oh, so they had to make nametags. Janelle grabbed one and took it to one of the empty seats. Then she sat and wrote down all of her information. Quote:

Muggle Studies was one class Brooklyn hadn’t quite made up her mind about, nor the new professor for the subject. On the one hand, she knew about Muggles. She’d lived among them, sort of, but that didn’t mean she didn’t prefer being a witch. She liked certain Muggle things, one the most obvious. But she hadn’t quite made up her mind if she liked Muggle Studies. It was just sort of there, a new subject for her since she hadn’t taken it last term. A new subject with an…interesting professor. She couldn’t quite decide what described Professor Moxley, yet she’d still done her usual greeting when she’d arrived at the classroom. “Hello Professor Moxley.” Were they going to be directing traffic for their lesson? She’d made her way to an open table. The spot beside Hady was taken, anyway, and the jury was still out on the other students who’d arrived before her. There was a lot the second year hadn’t decided yet, apparently. Yet there was one thing she was very decided about. She refused to acknowledge nicknames. As such, the sticky nametag was inscribed very simply before it was attached to her sweater. She wasn’t about to let anyone think otherwise. Quote:

Another lesson, Margo was starting to get them all confused. Pretty sure soon she would be saying "Diminuendo" in muggle studies. But here she was ready to try and learn everything she could. Now Margo was half muggle so she was pretty sure she got the gist of everything about them, but she thought it would be interesting to learn about them from a magical perspective!!! Bouncing toward a seat that was near the front Margo grabbed a sticky tag and wrote. Quote:

Muggle Studies. Kate wasn't too sure what to think of Muggle Studies. Why did they need to study the Muggles anyway? She had a few ideas on that, but she decided to wait and see what she learned in class this year. "Hello, Professor," she greeted. Moxley looked like a lot of fun! Awesome. "That's a catchy tune you're humming." She smiled then turned to go find a seat. Once situated, Kate began filling out her information on the name tag. Kate Addison Ravenclaw First Year Kate didn't have any nicknames, nor did she want any. She was Kate, just Kate, and she was perfectly fine with that. |
Why in the name of Merlin was Moxley dressed up like THAT?! Not that Grayson was a fashion conscious guy but c'mon, Moxley. The getup looked like something you'd see on someone doing service work out and about on the streets, not someone about to teach a class. It made him stop and tilt his head as soon as he entered the room and laid eyes on the woman. Huh. This was gonna be an interesting lesson then. "Hello Professor," he called, giving her a nod and moving to sit on an empty seat towards the middle of the classroom. Tags were something he was used to and he had every urge to write a different name on there -- for the lulz, of course -- but nicknames? Was she gonna call them that? Because LOL, if she started calling him Slytherin Hottie, there was no way he was gonna take her seriously. But yeah. Name tag. That was being scribbled down on the name tag on his desk. Quote:

The zipper. just. wouldn’t. budge. Meredith was ready to rip the thing right off the vest when the students started to arrive. Since she didn’t want to scare them with her hulk-like physical prowess-a gift, really-she decided to stop with the task in order to greet the Hogwartians she’d be stuck with for the remainder of class. SPOILER!!: Individual greetings Eyeing her watch, Meredith stood and headed towards the door. She peeked out into the corridor and after seeing a few stragglers headed her way, turned and headed towards her desk again. She opted to sit on top of it, legs swinging and eyes focused on those already seated. ”Just a few more minutes and we’ll be getting started. Hope you lot have your thinking caps on.” She made a show of pretending to put on her own, complete with buckle under the chin, and smiled. No really, they were ready for some chatting soon, right? |
this feels weird, but we're excited! :3 Muggle Studies. Being a half-blood, Tia was fully confident in her knowledge of the material. Though she had to admit she was slightly envious of her brother in that he got to have their aunt teach them (even if it was Arithmancy, not Muggle Studies), but she was stoked nonetheless because Professor Moxley looked like fun and energetic - two things Tia could go with. Taking a seat somewhere in the middle, because she didn't want to seem too eager, the fourth year read the instructions up on the board and pulled one of the name tags toward her. Her house? Why was THAT needed? Wasn't it kind of obvious by their school robes what house they were in? Shrugging it off, Tia printed neatly on the nametag before sticking on her robes. No slapping, thank you very much. Quote:

New Professor. Ok, let's see what this lady had to bring to the table! Caleb really liked Hadley, he did - he was just never a fan of the class. Who needed to learn about Muggles when you were magical? Seriously, it just baffled him. "Hello Professor - Caleb Newell, prefect," he said with a smile, introducing her with a flashy grin as he sat near the front. He had a feeling he was going to like her - she just seemed to be COOL, you know? He didn't know what it was...maybe the orange vest? Who knew. He then scribbled the required info on his nametag and stuck it on his shirt. Quote:

Angel smiled as she walked into the classroom. "Good day Professor." Angel had seen the Professor before she was sure and then she remembered where it was, she had been in the Gryffindor Common room at the start of term with her head of house and the Charms Professor. Angel walked over and sat down next to Adi; she then decided that she would do what she was told and write down what the Professor wanted. Quote:

*sits next to Tia* decisions are hard, apparently Muggle studies. You know, if he really wanted to properly study them, he could've just stayed at home... But there was a reason why he attended this class time and time again. Year and year again. And it wasn't because he really enjoyed it all that much, merlin no! Classes were the boring part. Always. Buuuuuut, there was always a possibility that they'd have food. Like last time with the pizzas and stuff. And where ever there was food there was a Zander Adair. Except... It didn't look like they were making food this time. Awh no. As he walked into the room he-- WOAH. Holy neon!? Her vest??? Of course he recognized it maybe 'cause the bag she was sporting looked like a mail carrier bag buuuut... Maybe not? Eh. Even growing up in a muggle family and he still had his doubts. But right. New Professor. OHMYMERLIN NEW PROFESSOR!! It was the one he had gotten a drink for at the Gryffindor Party??? Oh. Well, pft. He had this one under his belt, no big deal. This being said, he walked up to her with that And now, for only THE hardest part: Finding a seat. Dun duuuhhhn duuuuhhhn!! Well, uh, they were split up into twos. Okay, not bad. And he did spot a few familiar faces... Like oh, Grayson? But hm, the boy was probably saving the seat for his girl. Or girls. Actually... Was he still with the Newell one or was that a time of the past? Merlin, teen drama was too weird to comprehend sometimes. Even when he was in the middle of it. Yeah, way too weird. Okay moving on. OH! There was that girl from Madame Malkins! The nice one that actually talked... Not the one who-- yeah. She had sat next to him in Charms, so it'd be okay if he just... You know? "Mind if I... Sit here?" 'Cause if he sat down and she was actually saving the seat... Embarrassing. Also kind of needed to formally apologize for... You know. Ahem. Also embarrassing. And oh-- she was Ravenclaw? He liked those. Mhm. Good people. Very good people. Also nametag. He could do those. Quote:
|
*sits behind Zander b/c Heather's......yeah* XD What better way to keep out of trouble than to sit near a prefect, right? Only she still wasn't quite happy with Puck, so Zander it was, mmmhmmm. That was what would anyone who asked, anyway. Heather was ready for this class. Except that she was the only one in comfy clothes. She had read the noticeboard correctly, hadn't she? This class called for trainers and comfy clothes? Well, if the professor wanted her to go change, she would tell her so. Speaking of the professor, why was she wearing a crossing guards vest? And was the zipper stuck or something? Anyway.....reading the board.......she filled out the nametag as requested. Oh, and "Hello, professor!" Quote:
