Baylou Zoelie Earnhardt was born on July 31st, 2107, to Odette and Rhett Earnhardt. Her mother is British, her father proudly Southern American, and Baylou entered the world one month early while her parents were visiting her father’s family in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Burnsville, North Carolina. Her early arrival shocked everyone—but in true Baylou fashion, it was perfectly
on brand. Her birth was a joyous celebration. She became the second grandchild and the very first granddaughter on both sides of her family, instantly adored beyond measure. Baylou has an older brother, Macon Earnhardt, born in London and currently a proud Hufflepuff student at Hogwarts. She grew up in a loving, close-knit home where family has always been everything. Ever curious, Baylou writes frequently to both sets of grandparents and to all her cousins on her father’s side, always eager to compare life at Ilvermorny to that of Hogwarts.

Her parents divorced when she was three years old in 2110, though they remain close and committed to their children. Her mother was the first to remarry, wedding fellow wizard Thomas Fernsby, an Auror, who has a son named Albert from his previous marriage. In fact, she’d much rather watch than play. Ironically, when she does take to the pitch, she’s a natural talent—but convincing her to play “just for fun” is no easy task.

Bayou is incredibly light on her feet and adores everything about ballet; the discipline, the artistry, the storytelling, and especially the chance to wear poofy tutus and experiment with stage makeup. Maya Crawford (née Whitmore) is originally from a No-Maj family in West Virginia, and she was sorted into Horned Serpent at Ilvermorny. Tyler Crawford is originally from a Muggle family in Northern Ireland. He attended Hogwarts and was sorted into Gryffindor. The two met when they both attended the Wizarding University in Salem, Massachusetts, and they quickly fell in love. They married soon after Maya graduated in 2100, and afterwards they settled in Virginia to start a family.

Maya is invested in her children’s education. When they were younger, she was diligent about making sure they completed their homework, and even once they had begun attending Ilvermorny, she would inquire about their studies throughout the year. She means well in wanting her children to succeed, but sometimes it does come across as overbearing and ends up inadvertently putting a lot of pressure on them. She is afraid of reptiles but tries to support her daughter’s interest in them despite that.

Tyler became a super fan of the Ballycastle Bats during his time at Hogwarts, and he has tried to pass on that fandom to his kids. He also tried to ensure that the kids spent time outside instead of only being cooped up indoors (after their homework was done, of course!), and he could often be found outside tending to the garden and taking care of the yard throughout their childhood.

Maya has struggled with her relationships with her side of the family all her life, and after years of trying to bridge the gap, she and Tyler decided it was time for a fresh start and time to be closer to family who actually cared about them. So in the summer of 2118, they officially moved to Northern Ireland to be closer to Tyler’s side of the family. The kids are due to begin attending Hogwarts in September.

Background:
- Born to a single mother already raising one daughter, Achilles was a handful from the start. From the moment he started to crawl, he proved himself to be difficult to manage, unable to stay in one place, and constantly causing innocent mischief.
- From the age of 18 months, Achilles was in and out of muggle foster care due to various reasons, including parental neglect, mistreatment, and his own behaviour; Achilles was severely hyperactive and extremely difficult to manage, and had problems regulating his emotions (though he was more often in high spirits with the occasional explosion of negative feelings that he couldn't handle) so that often his mother couldn't cope with him.
- Achilles was removed from the family home (or taken on a voluntary basis) a total of seven times before his mother ultimately refused to have him back; he had numerous foster homes throughout this time as he was bounced between placements with every stint in care.
- In August 2109, when he was seven years old, it became evident that Achilles was a magical child, having accidentally turned his most recent foster parents into 'Foster Parrots' while they attempted to get him ready for bed (his least favourite time of the day, as Achilles was not at all inclined to settling down and resting). Once he was intercepted by the magical individuals working in the muggle system, he was placed with a wizarding family as an emergency placement, before being found a place at Stemp House in September of that year.
- At Stemp House, Achilles took some time to settle; with all the disruption in his life, he expected to be moved on to another house, another set of carers, another life, but this never happened. He was far from timid; because of the many carers and homes he had been in, Achilles actually found it easy to adapt and adjust to yet another new place, and his boundless energy - which constantly needed to be channeled yet carefully balanced lest he become overwhelmed and overstimulated - meant he had little time to spend in his own head, or worry about his surroundings and the people in them... at least on the surface level. It was also discovered that he had an attachment disorder, the result of which meant he did not fear strangers, was overfamiliar with anyone he met, and liable to trust almost anyone, which had its own risks.
- Achilles also embraced the idea of magic very easily, and at times - in those early weeks - could become extremely overexcited by any magical displays, or indeed just the idea of magic.
- He was homeschooled at Stemp House for the remainder of his primary school years, but was extremely difficult to engage in a regular classroom setting, given his problems with attention and hyperactivity, requiring some creative strategies until he could start to settle a little more
- It was at Stemp House that Achilles - who had chosen a bedroom immediately adjacent to the music room - discovered his talent for music. It was also at Stemp House that Achilles tunnelled through the wall between his room and the music room, in an attempt to make his own private entrance. This did not last.
- Though at first Achilles had regular supervised contact with his mother and sister after the final time he was placed into care, these visits soon started to dwindle, the time between them getting longer and longer. Shortly before Achilles turned eleven, his mother effectively stopped all contact by neglecting to schedule the next visit. As she had permanently given up custody of him when he was seven, she was never informed that Achilles was a wizard.
- Once Achilles turned eleven, he began attending Hogwarts. He was sorted into Ravenclaw - likely a shock for almost anyone who knew him and had expected an instant Gryffindor sorting - and adjusted to Hogwarts just as he had adapted to every other change in his life.
- ... Almost. Because the transition to a formal school setting - the requirements to sit still in lessons, do as he was told, keep track of time, not annoy his peers (or teachers), complete homework, et cetera - was not so smooth. In this, Achilles struggled, and found himself in trouble more often than not, though to any outsider seemed only to take all these things in a generally happy-go-lucky stride. Eventually, he would adjust to most of those other things too, but Achilles continues to be tornado of a boy, tearing through the castle and leaving people breathless and slightly windswept in his wake.

- Cannot sit still and not fidget for love nor money.
- Music virtuoso; Achilles has a natural musical talent in the sense that he can study and test out an instrument - or watch it be used - and can then figure out how to play it. He can hear any piece of music and then, after some experimenting, can play it start to end on an instrument of his choice. However, Achilles playing is rarely polished and perfect, and, if he's particularly agitated or unwilling to sit still, he will make clumsy mistakes or rush through a piece. He does not like to practice the same piece over and over, only to play what he hears or what he feels like playing, usually too fast, with embellishments, or transitioning into a new piece as soon as he gets bored with the first.
- Achilles's preferred instrument is the drums; he plays well, with good rhythm and skill, and they cater to his need for movement and freedom, but they serve to make a loud boy even louder than he really ought to be.
- Aside from music, he jumps between hobbies like he's going for a world record, which has given him myriad but shallow knowledge on all sorts of topics and activities, including Quidditch, gobstones, Quodpot, various muggle sports, painting (that one didn't last long), drama, and many more. Music is the only one that sticks, and even there he bounces between instruments, though always returns to his beloved drums.
- Having a laundry list of diagnoses, Achilles has been treated with potions for many years now; when he forgets to take them, everybody knows about it. And Achilles does not a good memory have.
- Extremely friendly, sometimes overly familiar with those he doesn't know, and far too quick to trust for his own good.
- Loyal, but would struggle to stick to these loyalties when they are in direct conflict with each other, which can make him seem fickle, untrustworthy, or unreliable, when he aims to be the exact opposite of these things. The person currently at his side is likely the person he is most loyal to. Because of his attachment issues, this also makes him very easy to manipulate, something he would vehemently deny.
- Both slow and quick to anger, depending on the day and which buttons are pushed.
- Generally a positive presence, sometimes overly so, but still struggles with emotional regulation, and both under- and overstimulation. On difficult days, he is liable to have outbursts of emotion (and, oftentimes, magic) though usually can quickly return to his usual self once these moments have passed. Certain meltdowns, however, can take him out of action all day.
- Keen for friends, but has a tendency to irritate people with his overwhelming presence or incessant questions, his tendency to go off track in almost every conversation, and to make conversations about himself too often in an attempt to relate to others.
