Vianna listened quietly as Ferris began reading the first chapter aloud to her and she shook her head slightly. "That's way off," she said. "Why don't we try looking through the potions?" she suggested, not feeling too confident about any spells or charms that could really help them much when it came to disguising. But if anything, they could turn back to that if there weren't any potions to help them.

emmafan123 11-20-2009 04:26 AM

Ferris couldn't help but agree with the girl, as he couldn't see a way that hovering around could help them in their current situation. So he did as he was told and quickly went back to the table of contents to find the page number for potions. He then flipped to the proper page, scanning it to see any titles that could potentially be helpful: Transforming Potions, Emotion Potions, Sound Potions, Trick Potions, Healing Potions... the list went on and on. "Alright...What do you think, Vi?" he asked the girl beside him.

OOC: Off for a few minutes!

Gryffindoll 11-20-2009 04:36 AM

Vianna's brows furrowed slightly as Ferris flipped to the potions' table of contents and her eyes scanned the page silently. "What about transforming potions?" she suggested as Ferris asked for her opinion, though the girl was beginning to get the bad feeling that the only way they could really alter their appearance much was through either a polyjuice potion or growing metamorphic abilities which no one in the group had. Vianna's forehead creased slightly at this realization but opted best to not think so negatively.

ooc: Kk!

emmafan123 11-20-2009 04:47 AM

Ferris turned back to the book as she suggested that they start with the Transforming potions, and he flipped the pages once more, this time to page 178 to look at a number of different potions that had to do with transformations. "Alright, let's see," he murmured softly, his finger starting at the top of the page and running down as he listed off the names, "Freezing potion - turn your friends or any other object into any form of ice, Polyjuice Potion, Liquidation Potion...No...." he murmured with slightly furrowed brows, finding nothing that looked promising until he stopped on something labeled, '8 hour potion'. "'The 8 Hour Potion'," he read off, "'This potion allows a wizard to change his or her appearance for only 8 hours, into anything he or she wants. You choose the proper appearance for yourself prior to making this potion, and when you ingest it you will transform into the appearance of your choice. But beware, as this potion will wear off at exactly 8 hours, and you will return to your natural appearance immediately."

Gryffindoll 11-20-2009 04:51 AM

Vianna let out a sigh as Ferris began listing all the different potions in the book, and none really seemed to be able to help them much. Defeated, the girl tore her gaze away from the book to glance absentmindedly at Fluffy for a brief second before turning back to Ferris as he mentioned something about an 8-hour potion. Brows furrowed slightly and eyes filled with curiosity, Vianna returned her gaze to the book and silently read the description of the potion to herself as Ferris read it aloud. Once he finished, she gasped, "That's perfect!" she said with a grin, looking up at the boy with enthusiastic eyes. "That's the potion, Professor, you've found it!"

emmafan123 11-20-2009 04:54 AM

Ferris jumped as the girl suddenly exclaimed her approval, not having expected such a strong reaction, and tore his eyes from the book to meet hers with a weak smile. He couldn't help but feel a little happy by this obviously approving reaction from Vianna, but he was also a very cautious person, and he couldn't help but be very aware of the warnings all over the page dedicated to making the potion. "I don't know Vi," he said reluctantly, desperately not wanting to deflate her good mood, but not wanting to lead them down a false trail either. "There's a good number of warnings here, not to mention an interesting ingredients list....It's going to take at least four days to make," he said, his brown eyes roaming over the page with slightly furrowed eyebrows.

Gryffindoll 11-20-2009 04:58 AM

But there was no bringing Vianna's spirits down now, and despite Ferris's warnings, she had already made up her mind that this was going to be the potion they would use. "Four days is nothing compared to how long the polyjuice potion takes!" she said with a bright smile. "I'm sure that as long as we follow the instructions correctly and do everything right, there shouldn't be a problem," she added with a nod, quite confident about this. But she couldn't help wondering... "What are some of the side effects? Or, what could happen if we do it wrong?"

emmafan123 11-20-2009 05:07 AM

Ferris watched with uneasy eyes as Vianna didn't seem to be brought down, obviously still thrilled with this potion, and telling him that four days was nothing compared to how long the Polyjuice potion took. He gave a brief nod, having to agree to that and his eyebrows rose as she asked what some of the side affects were, and what could happen if they did it wrong. He let out dark chuckle, "That's my point. The side affects, if your body has the wrong reaction to it, can result in swelling of the head, discoloration of the skin, or high fevers and chills....And if we were to accidentally mix it wrong, we could be locked in between the features we were trying to acheive and the features we have now, for days, if not weeks," he explained, pointing to each side affect as he said them before letting out a sigh, "It's a risky potion Vi...But..I think it might be our only option."

Gryffindoll 11-20-2009 05:12 AM

Vianna made a face as Ferris listed the side effects to the 8-hour potion, none of which seemed very pleasant. But even after hearing this, the girl did not back down on her decision to use this potion; it was this or nothing. Well, they could still try a polyjuice potion if all else failed, but that would take months. They just couldn't wait for months, it was too much time. "Then that's it," muttered the girl with her eyes still on the book as Ferris told her the potion was risky but it was their only option. She then glanced up at him, waiting to hear confirmation of his approval. "Do you wanna go for it?"

emmafan123 11-20-2009 05:15 AM

Ferris watched her hesitantly as she decided that was it before asking if he wanted to go for making the potion. He paused, thinking for a moment, "W-Well...I think I've done something similar once...In my fifth year I had an Advanced Potions class with a few seventh years, and we attempted something like this, but...Like I said, it's risky," he said, debating with himself aloud before deciding. "But I think I can do it," he finally said, with a slightly determined yet hesitant gleam to his brown eyes. "Or, help do it, I mean."

OOC: I'm off for now Deeeeee!!!!!!!!!! Byyyyyeeee! :bye:

Gryffindoll 11-20-2009 05:23 AM

Vianna gave the hesitant Ferris an understanding smile and nodded her head slightly as he agreed to the idea of at least helping make the potion, though he didn't sound entirely sure. "Don't worry, everything will go well," Vianna assured him with a nod. "I think it's safe to say we're a pretty good team; I'm no potions master but I've passed my lessons with excellent marks, you're obviously much better than I could ever hope to be, Victor is a bit of a potions nerd, it's his best and favourite subject, and Vince... well... we can test the potion on him," Vianna finished with a soft chuckle, obviously joking; she'd never use her own brother a guinea pig even if the idea did sound amusing. "C'mon, let's start looking for the ingredients so we can have this ready as soon as possible," she continued, getting up to her feet with energy; seeing that there was still some hope had definitely lifted her spirits and she was quite eager to get started on their assignment.

ooc: Byeeeee, Rutherssss! :bye::glomp:

emmafan123 11-21-2009 04:46 AM

Ferris listened as the girl at his side assured him that everything would work out fine, as they made up a pretty good team with a few potions geeks, and a guinea pig. He couldn't help but let a smile light up his pale face as he turned his eyes down to the book still in his lap, still a bit hesitant. But his eyes returned to Vianna as she stood up, wanting to go out and get the ingredients, "Alright, alright, we'll go Vi," he said with a slight smile, unable to keep it off his face though still not entirely thrilled with this. He couldn't help but be a bit optimistic about it though...

Gryffindoll 11-21-2009 06:00 AM

Vianna giggled lightly to herself as Ferris agreed to leaving the inn to start gathering the needed ingredients, though she could tell the boy wasn't necessarily thrilled about the idea. The young girl then proceeded to steal one of his hands while taking Fluffy with the other and led the way out of the room - this time making sure to lock the door and take a key. But instead of walking down the deserted hall with all its old doors leading to vacant rooms, Vianna made a stop at her brothers' door, opening it without a warning. "Ferris and I found a potion, we're gonna go get the ingredients. Watch Fluffy for me, will you? And if you go somewhere, take him with you - and don't let him put anything in his mouth," said the girl without bothering to at least give a greeting first as she would normally do. But she really didn't want to waste time, which was the main reason she was leaving her troublesome little squirrel with her brothers. The girl lowered slightly and let Fluffy hop off her hands and on to the carpeted floor before - without giving her brothers time to complain - closing the door and leading the way down the hall.

emmafan123 11-21-2009 06:23 PM

Ferris followed the girl from her room, expecting to take an immediate travel down the hall, when she opened her brothers' door and instructed them to watch Fluffy for her as they went to grab the ingredients. He couldn't help but smile slightly at this, rather amused with how Vianna simply shoved the squirrel in the door and then closed it without waiting for complaints from her brothers. He followed after her as they headed down the hall, the large spellbook in his hand with a magically-placed bookmark on the page they wanted, and the other hand around Vianna's. He gently intwined their fingers.

OOC: Off for now, I'll be back on later tonight! :bye:

Gryffindoll 11-21-2009 09:10 PM

Vianna gave Ferris a smile before turning her gaze away and leading him down the hall and then down the stairs to the small lobby of the old inn. The girl walked out to the deserted streets of the ghost town, walking in hurried steps for a moment before realizing she had no idea where they were headed. And so, she came to an abrupt halt. "What are the ingredients?" she asked, turning to Ferris with slightly furrowed brows.

ooc: See you then, Ruthersss! :bye:

emmafan123 11-22-2009 02:11 AM

Ferris was playing a bit of a little game in his head, waiting for the moment Vianna realized she didn't know what they were after. He walked alongside her for about two minutes down the street, an amused smile growing on his face as he waited. And finally, the girl came to an abrupt halt and turned to him with the questoin he had been waiting for: what the ingredients were. He let out a soft chuckle, admiring her for a moment before releasing her hand so he could open the book, "Alright, it looks like we need....About four main things: Boar's blood, the fur of a wild mink, a horned toad's bottled breath, and two strands of unicorn hair." He looked back to her hesitantly, as being refreshed with their list of things to get made him even more apprehensive. These things sounded near impossible to acquire.

Gryffindoll 11-22-2009 02:49 AM

Vianna listened quietly as Ferris began listing the main four ingredients they would need to make the potion. Her eyes widened slightly - these things sounded like something pulled out of a fairytale! Where were they supposed to find them? With furrowed brows, she looked away from the boy beside her and down to the ground, her features thoughtful as she remained silent for a moment before looking up once again. "Okay, well... let's start with the easiest thing," she suggested. But what was the easiest thing? They all sounded completely impossible to obtain.

emmafan123 11-22-2009 02:57 AM

Ferris could easily read Vianna's expression, which told that she seemed a little intimidated by their list of things to get as well. Who wouldn't be? But they couldn't be that hard to find, if they were found in a spell that was found in a popular spellbook....right? "Okay, the easiest thing," he repeated with a small nod as she instructed that they start with the easiest thing. His brown eyes scanned the page once more before speaking, "The...The toad's breath should be pretty common, surprisingly. My old Potions teacher had like, five bottles just sitting in his cabinet. I once asked him about it, and he told me they could be found at any 'proper' shop. I don't know what he meant by proper though, or if a particular 'horned' toad's breath is common...Just toad's is common, he said.."

Gryffindoll 11-22-2009 03:02 AM

Vianna listened as Ferris explained to her how his potions teacher had told him the toad's breath bottles could be found at any proper shop. The girl looked away to the streets distractedly as he continued speaking, her eyes searching for anything that resembled what would be a 'proper' shop for this surprisingly common potion ingredient. But there was nothing, the town almost seemed like a muggle town, there really wasn't that much magic surrounding it. "I think we should try asking one of the locals," said Vianna. "If they know of any shops that would sell ingredients for potions and other magical items, I mean."

emmafan123 11-22-2009 03:05 AM

Ferris's own eyes scanned the surrounding area, and came up with the same thing that Vianna did: little hope without help. He looked to the girl at his side as she suggested they talk to a local in the hopes that they would know something about a shop that would sell magical items. "That's a good idea, Vi," he agreed, his eyes searching the area once more, this time for someone who looked like they wouldn't mind helping them. He closed their book, gently tucking it in his right hand and his left taking Vianna's once more.

Gryffindoll 11-22-2009 03:12 AM

Like Ferris, Vianna scanned the area for any people passing by that they could ask about this to. Only problem was, there were no pedestrians in sight, only the occasional homeless-looking person that would disappear into one of the alleys. Vianna sighed, this was definitely no help. She then turned and dragged Ferris along with her back into the inn. "Maybe the old man at the front desk can help us," she muttered as an explanation for her sudden change in route.

emmafan123 11-22-2009 03:16 AM

Ferris was frowning at the empty streets, not liking their chances of finding a friendly local to help them, when Vianna suddenly turned him around and started back towards the inn. He listened as she explained that they man at the front desk might be able to help them, and he smiled slightly at the girl's way of thinking. "You're smart," he said with a soft chuckle, as his mind hadn't even gone there at first, but rather hopelessly remained on their surroundings.

Gryffindoll 11-22-2009 03:30 AM

Vianna couldn't help but laugh lightly at Ferris's compliment. "You're smarter," she replied with a smile as she walked into the small lobby of the old, dusty inn. As expected, the old man behind the front desk was standing there with a rather bored look on his face as he read a book - that like everything else in the town - looked like it was probably a hundred years old and it might fall apart any second. "Excuse me," said Vianna softly; the old man looked up and greeted the two teenagers with a smile. Vianna smiled back and then proceeded to ask the man if he knew where they could find any magical items, like ingredients for a potion.

The old man listened quietly and nodded his head slightly. "I'm afraid that you would have to visit the heart of the city to find these types of shops," he said. "We don't really have much here in the outskirts of the city, but downtown... you'll find everything you need there," continued the old man. He gave the teenagers a look and paused for a moment, studying them. They seemed like a harmless, good-natured pair, so he added, "I could lend you a portkey to get there, but I ask you please bring it back."

emmafan123 11-22-2009 03:37 AM

Ferris was just about to argue with her as she told him he was smarter, obviously flattered by this compliment (it was a trait he had worked hard in schoolwork for), but he wouldn't let her go without an argument thinking he was any smarter than herself. But before he really could say anything, they had entered the inn and Vianna had begun speaking with the man at the front desk who explained that they would be able to find what they were looking for in the heart of the city. The boy let out a small sigh at this, knowing that they would have to use their brooms and look conspicuous to muggles, when the man offered that they could use his portkey. Ferris looked up at him with a delighted smile, "That would be amazing, we would of course return it to you," he said with a small nod.

Gryffindoll 11-22-2009 03:48 AM

The old man examined the couple's smiling faces and couldn't help but smile faintly in return. He took a lamp that was resting on the desk and pushed it forward toward the pair. The man then pulled out his wand and directed it at the old oil lamp, muttering, "Portus!" The man then looked back up at the other two and gestured for them to touch the lamp. Vianna looked at the lamp and turned to Ferris for a moment, a smile still on her face though it seemed a little nervous, before holding out a hand to the old lamp.
