Vianna sighed softly to herself as Ferris pulled her closer and awarded her with a kiss on the forehead. She felt somewhat consoled by the boy's gentle gestures, but this new realization of cute furry animals having their fur stolen still haunted her. But the girl tried not to think about it, to send this thought to the back of her mind - they still had a mission to accomplish and this was no time to be sulking about something she had no control over. And so, putting on a weak smile, the girl pulled back. "Were you able to find the boar's blood?" she asked the boy before her, eager to change the subject to something more pleasant. |
Ferris was even more upset to realize he couldn't give her the satisfaction of knowing that they had found all of their ingredients, "No, actually, I didn't. I don't think this store sells it.." he explained with a soft sigh. "However, that means that you won our competition, doesn't it?" he reminded her with a small smile, glad to point out something he was sure could make the girl happy. But it was then that he caught sight of an employee walking by. "Oh, wait! I guess I could just ask one of them..." he let out a soft chuckle before releasing Vianna and walking over to one of the employees to ask if they had any boar's blood. |
Vianna's forehead creased slightly as Ferris shared that he hadn't been able to find the boar's blood, but she chuckled softly as he pointed out that she had won the competition. "I believe so," she said with a nod, though her eyes weren't filled with pride as they normally would have, but rather appreciation for the boy's intentions of cheering her up. Vianna then turned as Ferris suddenly mentioned something about asking one of the employees and leaving her side. The girl couldn't help but laugh at this, amused that Ferris hadn't just done this right from the beginning, though she couldn't help feel somewhat guilty for cheating when he had been playing right all along. |
The employee told Ferris to wait before walking to the very back of the store, and into the backroom of the entire shop. It took the man a good five minutes to return with a vile of dark maroon blood, which Ferris quickly thanked him for and took into his free hand. Grinning, the boy listened as the man warned him not to let the blood touch his skin, as it would cause severe burns and staining to whatever it touched. His eyebrows rose at this but he gave a nod and a small smile, "Yes, of course," he said before returning to Vianna's side with a large grin. "I got it!" he said, holding up both of the viles, the bright white of the unicorn hair contrasting greatly from the dark boar's blood. |
Vianna grinned as Ferris returned with his ingredients in both hands. "Great!" said the girl, now taking - somewhat hesitantly - the wild mink's fur into her free hand while the other held the small glass bottle filled with horned toad's breath. "Oooh, we should probably get a cauldron, too, and a spoon," said Vianna, as she doubted they would find these things in the inn rooms. |
Ferris watched her with hesitant eyes as she held the mink's fur and the horned toad's breath in her own hands as she suggested that they also grab a cauldron and a spoon. He gave a nod, though his mind was more on her having to carry the fur. "Here, let's trade first," he said softly, before taking the mink's fur from her and handing her the unicorn's hair. He gave a weak smile before leading her over towards the section of supplies that a wizard might need. It wasn't hard to spot the cauldrons, and his brown eyes scanned over them to try and find the best for what they were trying to do. |
Vianna gave Ferris an appreciative smile as the boy traded ingredients with her. "Thank you," she said, leaning over to place a kiss on his cheek before following the boy's lead down to a different section of the store. As they came to a halt before the large selection of cauldrons, Vianna took a moment to examine them before turning to Ferris once again. "How much of the potion do we need to drink?" she asked, as this related to how big a cauldron they should get. |
Ferris turned to look at her as she asked how much they would each have to drink, "We'll all have to have about 6 ounces of the stuff," he told her with a small smile, not exactly looking forward to this. He kept his voice down, as he didn't want people to necessarily hear this conversation they were having. "This one looks substantial," he decided, pointing out a cauldron near them that was medium-sized with his hand holding the supplies. |
"Ah," Vianna muttered with a nod as Ferris answered her question, her eyes returning to the cauldrons lined up before them. As Ferris pointed to one, the girl took both vials into one hand to then get a hold of the cauldron with her free hand. "I hope that potion won't taste too terribly bad," she muttered, more to herself than to the boy beside her as she was for the most part just thinking aloud. "And now something to stir it with," she added, turning as the shelf behind them happened to have what they were looking for this time. Vianna quickly took one of the wooden stirring spoons without giving it much thought and placed it inside the cauldron before leading the way out of the aisle. She really wanted to get started on the potion already. |
Ferris watched as the girl took the cauldron into her free hand, listening as she muttered about the potion's taste. "We'll just have to eat some marshmallows directly after," he explained with a warm smile and a soft chuckle before following her towards the direction of the stirring utensils. In a moment, the boy had picked out the perfect mixing spoon and held it awkwardly between the two viles. "Alright, let's get out of here," he said, leading the way to the check out counter. |
In hurried and enthusiastic steps, Vianna led the way down the aisle and to the front of the store where she proceeded to make the shortest line to one of the cashiers. Luckily, the line seemed to be moving pretty fast and it wasn't long until it was the couple's turn to hand over their things. Vianna placed the cauldron with the spoon and the two vials on the counter as the employee behind began to pack the things away. |
Ferris watched his favorite person nearly run down the aisle with amused eyes, shaking his head softly before getting in line alongside her. As they reached the front, he carefully set down the bottle of boar's blood, the mink's fur, and the mixing spoon. He got out his wallet, taking out the proper amount of money, and a moment later all of their things were bagged neatly and carefully. He thanked the man as he got back his change before taking one of the bags in his hand and letting Vianna take the other as he didn't have another free hand with the spellbook. |
Vianna took the rest of the bags into her hands with a smile, quite eager to head back to the inn and get started on the potion. She was also excited about seeing her beloved squirrel, missing his company terribly even if it had only been about half an hour since she last saw him. As the couple headed out to the crowded sidewalks, Vianna turned to Ferris. "Have you got the lamp, Professor?" she asked the boy. |
Ferris turned to look at Vianna as she asked if he had the lamp, and he gave a nod, "Yeah, it's in my pocket," he said with a small smile, which faded as soon as he realised he had no means of retrieving it. "Uh...Vi, I might have to ask you to grab a lamp from my pants," he said with a light chuckle, "If you can manage freeing up a hand, that is," he added, as both of their hands seemed to be full as they walked down the sidewalk. |
Vianna's eyebrows rose slightly as Ferris told her the lamp was in one of his pockets and she'd have to get it for him. Chuckling softly, Vianna set down her bags and began searching Ferris's pocket for the oil lamp the keeper at the inn had lent them. The girl then found it and pulled it out with her hand while pulling out her wand with the other to turn the lamp back into a portkey. |
Ferris couldn't help but to let out another laugh as the girl had to set her stuff down and take the lamp from her pocket. He would've done it himself, but the bag he was carrying held the potion viles and he didn't want to risk breaking them. He watched as she turned the lamp back into a portkey, and after making sure she had retrieved her bags, he looked over at her with a small smile. "Ready?" he asked before slowly outstreching his hand to touch the portkey. |
With a smile, Vianna nodded her head as Ferris spoke. "Ready," she replied before putting her wand away and taking her bags once again. She then proceeded to let one of her hands meet the portkey which sent her into what felt like a tornado of strong winds and colourful blurs at lightning speed. Only a second later, her feet met hard wooden floors. Feeling a little clumsy from the very brief trip, Vianna's brows furrowed slightly and her eyes were tightly shut for a moment before fluttering open once again. She was back in the small lobby of the inn with the old man behind the desk greeting her with a polite smile. The girl returned the smile and looked around for any signs of Ferris. |
Ferris popped into the scene only a couple moments later, his back throbbing once more from the unexpected tumult that came with using portkeys. But it wasn't as bad as apparating, and so once more the boy seemed not to notice it so much, smiling at the two people he say in the lobby of the inn. "Thanks so much for letting us use your portkey, sir," he said with a polite smile. The boy was always too polite for his own good, it was something that his mother had ingrained in him since he was a little boy, and he never failed to be nice to any stranger. Usually, anyway. He set the lamp back on the desk. OOC: I'm off Dee! 'Should be on tomorrow a good bit in the morning and night! :bye: Byyyeeee! |
The old man behind the desk took his oil lamp and set it aside, giving the teenagers a brief nod. "You're welcome," he said. Vianna gave him one last smile before leading the way up the old wooden stairs and over to her room. She quickly pulled out the key and opened the door. "I'm gonna go get Fluffy," she said, putting her bags aside before heading back out of the room and to the room next door where she proceeded to collect her squirrel from her brothers' care. ooc: I was just about to go too. Byeeee, Ruthersssss! :bye: |
Ferris followed after Vianna up the stairs, remaining quiet as she opened her hotel room and set her things down. But when she told him she was going to get her squirrel, he couldn't help but let out a small chuckle, amused by the first thing on Vianna's mind. He nodded to her before watching her leave and setting his own things down at the foot of the nearest table. He then let out a small sigh, stretching out his fingers as the book had been a bit heavy, and he took a seat on the couch as he waited for Vianna to return. |
Vianna returned a moment later with her fat little squirrel in hands, beaming down at it like it was the most adorable thing on earth. Fluffy barely noticed as his mind was elsewhere - did the pair bring him any marshmallows? "All ready, then," said Vianna with a smile as she let Fluffy hop off on to the nearest bed. The girl then took her things and joined Ferris by the couch, ready to get started on their potion. |
Ferris turned his eyes to the entrance as Vianna spoke, telling him that they were ready now that Fluffy had joined them. His gaze traveled to the little furball who was settling on a bed, and gave a small smile before returning his attention to Vianna. "Alright then," he said with a small sigh, sitting up and summoning over the spellbook and supplies. He set the cauldron on the table in front of them, opening the spellbook to the correct page and reading the first instruction aloud. (ooc:I would totally do this, but my creative juices are not flowing right now. I can't think of any proper instructions for them. lol. If you can, feel free to step in. :)) |
ooc: That's okay! Vianna glanced over at the open book and silently read the instructions to herself. First they needed water, which the girl quickly ran off to get. She returned a second later with a glass filled with water and poured it into the empty cauldron. Vianna then took one of the small vials into her hands, opening it very slowly and carefully as she didn't want to accidentally spill anything. "Does it say how much of the boar's blood we have to put in?" she asked, ready to pour the whole thing in before remembering potions were something one had to be very precise with in order to get the correct result. |
Ferris was reading the instructions with slightly furrowed brows, hardly noticing his girlfriend run off to get the water. His attention was only caught when she asked how much boar's blood they needed, "Uh...About an ounce, not that much," he told her, finally turning his eyes to Vianna to fully comprehend that she was holding boar's blood. "Vi!" he said, nearly jumping as he realized this. "Be very, very, very careful with that stuff. If it spills, it will burn horribly, anything that it touches." |
Vianna nodded her head as Ferris told her they just needed about an ounce of the boar's blood. She tilted the vial slightly, ready to pour the blood in, when Ferris suddenly exclaimed her name, causing the girl to jump in surprise. Her grip tightened on the small vial in her hand and she sighed in relief that it hadn't slipped or anything, barely aware that Ferris was still talking. Once over the shock, she turned to him and furrowed her brows, his words finally registering through. "Well, I think it would be a great help if you didn't scare me like that again!" she told him, her blue eyes looking at him disapprovingly. "I almost dropped the thing in surprise!" |
