Oh this is just great..perfect. Water balloons to test that we were actually listening. Oh well.. Petra stepped up in line and flexed her shoulders, Got her wand out and nodded to the professor that she was ready. She waited just a bit and then she saw an orage ballon come flying at her...her mind went blank and "SPLAT!" the balloon splashed in her face. Sputtering. She wiped the water from her face Her face turned red.. she was angry.. she didn't like being embrassed.. and she DID NOT like failing. She turned on her heels and stomped to the back of the line. Determined not to fail again.

Water balloons eh? And no Professor, not all of your students have puberty-infested noses like you say. Anyway, that wasn't why they were getting water balloons thrown at their faces. It was to practice their spell work. Stepping into line, Lily noticed the first couple of people in line failed to stop the balloon on the first try and ended up getting nice and wet. Then there was a good group of people who managed to stop their balloons and not get wet. And then there was the one poor kid who ended up poking his balloon and getting drenched anyway. All the while that Lily waited, she practiced her wand movement and the incantation. She wasn't going to get wet... that was for sure!

This was cool. Cassia liked what they were going to do next. She stood up and stood in the line and peered at the front of the line. She watched the Professor's moves and wondered how he didn't get tired. Then again he was tossing the water balloon using a spell not her strength. The snake kept watching students succeeding in stopping the balloon from coming at them while others got drenched. She hoped she'd not get wet.

She was almost at the front when she started muttering the incantation under her breath. Practicing, ok? Her hand gripped the wand and she was ready!!

Bring it on!

Once it was her turn, she raised her wand and took a step forwards making sure to keep the distance the Professor noted. She kept her eyes on Fuller's hands and not face. Gotta focus.

The second the balloon started making its way towards her, fast she waved her wand uttering. "Arresto Momentum!!" And didn't this balloon fly fast!

By the time the words were out of her mouth, the balloon had gotten so CLOSE to her that she squeezed her eyes shut. But she was dry still? She cracked an eye open and saw the balloon in midair less than an inch from her face. YAY!

She felt someone nudge her from behind and she fought the urge not to glare back at them for rushing her. She needed her time, okay?

Slowly, the blond reached for the floating balloon and moved to the back of the classroom. She wanted to watch the others.

Petra turn was up again. This time she was going to get it she felt more confident than ever. She squared her shoulders and had her wand at the ready. The professor threw the blue balloon, and she focused and said very firmly. " Arresto Momentum." Suddenly the balloon stopped in mid air. She had done it the spell had worked. Whooo! Petra jumped up and down. Then she moved to the side of the room and watched the rest of the students for a bit and then she would leave.

No way. They were getting water balloons thrown at them now? She was game! Lex hopped out of her seat after the instructions were given and found herself standing just behind Cassia in the line. She waited, eagerly bouncing on the balls of her feet for her turn...which would be taking longer to happen because a certain SOMEONE was just standing there even after she'd frozen the balloon.

Yeah...Any day now Cassia...

She waited patiently for another three seconds or so before giving the girl a nudge. Just reminding her that there were people behind her waiting their turn as well. If she wanted to have a moment she needed to move out of the line first, it just seemed a lot more legit, you know?

Finally her bestfriend did move and she stepped forward.

Once the balloon was in motion, she raised her wand. "Arresto Momentum!" and just like with the chocolate frog the balloon came to a complete stop mid-air. Lex reached forward, poking it a few times with her wand. The fascinated poking turned into jabs and the next thing she knew there was a gush of water smacking against the floor.

Uh-huh...

she'd just...uh...go to the back and watch like her friend before leaving. Ahem. Don't mind her....or the now popped balloon. Nothing to see here.

Tobias got out of his seat and rushed to the back of the line, bouncing on his toes and eager to show his skeeeeeeeeeeeellz. The line moved quickly, some mastering it straight away and some moving to the back of the line or trying again or whatever.

When his turn came, Tobias stepped forwards and raised his wand, READY. But the balloon was suddenly hurtling towards him and it was just SO FAST EVEN FASTER THAN HE'D BEEN EXPECTING AND TOby had to DUCK. Without even thinking.

So the balloon went flying stRAIGHT at whoever was right behind him. Eeeeeep.

Without stopping to see what happened, Tobias squealed a "Sorry!" and fled to the back of the line again. Okay. Next time. NEXT TIME he would be READY.

Even READIER than last time.

Okay, time to line up and...get water balloons thrown at you. Yay?

They were supposed to stop them with the charm, but Penelope wasn't sure how well that would go for her. BUT she probably just needed to be positive. And focus. Both of those usually seemed to work. Or they at least helped if they didn't actually make it work themselves.

So the fifth year got in line and soon she was at the front. Okay. She could do this.

The balloon was suddenly coming at her. Quickly, she waved her wand and said, "Arresto Momentum!" But the balloon only slowed down a little and just as she waved her wand to try again-

SPLAT!

The impact stung a her face a little, but not enough that it actually hurt. Just kinda a quick little stinging sensation and then it was gone and the water was dripping off her face and onto her shoulders. At least she'd closed her eyes right before it hit so no water had gotten in them.

But now she had to try again, so she moved back into the line.

So.... get in a single file line? Okay, easy enough. Wand in hand, Schuyler stood up from her seat and proceeded to the back on the line. By the time people filed in behind her, she was about smack dab in the middle of the line. Then, Professor Fuller unearthed his container full of - gasp - water balloons. Well, GOOD. This would be more fun than tossing a nail file in the air and getting it to stop mid-fall.

The water balloons were thrown and spells were cast, and a couple of droplets of water had managed to hit Schuyler. But after a few minutes, it was her turn. She raised her wand when Professor Fuller raised an orange water balloon. And..... WHIIIIISH. The moment the balloon left his hand, Schuyler waved her wand and uttered the charm, "Arresto Momentum!"

RRRRRRRRRR. That was the sound of muggle brakes slamming. The balloon halted to a stop in the air, just like the file had done. The side of her mouth hitched in a half-smile. Then, without a word, she walked forward, took the water balloon for herself, and made sure she grabbed her things before leaving the classroom.

Chris ran into the line, making sure not to be one of the very first to go up because he didn't want to make a fool of himself but when he saw Tag get splattered with water the first time, he started feeling a little better about this. At least if he got wet, he wouldn't be alone.

Several people went ahead and weren't able to stop the balloon from hitting them either. He kind of felt bad for whoever couldn't do the charm correctly but he completely lost his cool when Ryan went up and failed as well. "*SNORT* Good job, mate!" He yelled from his place in line. "You really managed to stop that one!" Christohper just couldn't help but laugh at the image of Ryan getting hit with the balloon in his head.

Just when he was getting over laughing him, his turn came up and he was at the front of the line. 'Okay, Chris. You've got this. Get it right.' He took a step forward and watched as the water balloon came flying his way. 'UH...UH..." He flicked his wand and yelled, "ARRESTO MOMENTUM!" Never once did he take his eye off of the balloon and watched as it stopped right by his nose. He took a step back to get a better look at the balloon and smiled to himself. "I knew I could do it." Chris then got out of the line and went back to sit down at his desk.

Finally it was Lily's turn to try her skills. Stepping up, she held her wand up, taking some deep breaths to wait until it was time to stop the balloon. Her mind going a million miles an hour, the claw found it hard to concentrate, until....

Bloodywaterballonflyingintheairstopitstopitstopit. .. With a wave of her wand, the claw spoke very clearly and calmly. "Arresto Momentum!" Then flinching as she worried that it would hit her, she didn't notice the water balloon stop... mere inches from her face. She had done it!! Unknowingly letting out a little "Whoop!" the ravenclaw stepped off to the side where the others were gathering. Well, that was the most interesting first charms lesson pretty much ever!

Marissa stepped up in front of the professor's desk and watched as the water balloon came barreling at her face. "Arresto momentum." she said with one eye closed as the balloon got closer and closer to her face. She sighed with relief as the balloon stopped an inch from her. Whew she thought to herself as she stepped away from the desk and headed to get her stuff.

Water balloons! Cool! This was gonna be fun! From his spot in the line, Adi could see as the students stepped up for their turn. Some stopped the balloon but for others... He grinned as Kace was splattered with water. Poor Kace! And other Puffers like Alec and grumpy dude (Kaiden). But he flashed a thumbs up to Asher. Go Asher!

And now it was his turn. The Professor released the water balloon in his direction. Quickly, Adi raised his wand. "Arresto momentum!" And a wave of the wand. Did it stop, did it stop?

SPLAT!

Apparently not. "Yay me!'' he muttered sarcastically and moved off as he wiped his adorable little face.

While standing in line waiting for her turn to come, she alternated between practicing the wand movement and muttering the incantation. Those things were simple, but maybe she was messing up a little on those things and that was why she'd had trouble last time. And anyway, practice made perfect and it was boring to just stand there in line with nothing to do.

Penelope almost didn't realize that it was her turn until it was too late, but she looked up in time to see the water balloon rise and start flying her way. With a quick wave of her wand and her mind picturing the balloon stopping in mid-air, she said, "Arresto Momentum!" And...

...it had stopped! Awesome!

Grinning, she reached forward to snatch it - carefully - out of the air and then tossed it gently into the box with the others. Then she turned and headed to her desk to gather her things.

Okay, time to line up and get some water balloons thrown at you....Yay!? Hopefully she could stop the thing!! And the water wouldn't go everywhere and make her all wet. So with that thought Nerida got into the line. And waited for her turn.

The balloon was coming at her. She could do this!! Quickly, she waved her wand and said, "Arresto Momentum!" But the balloon only slowed down a bit...Guess she hadn't focused that much... And just when she waved her wand and was about to say the spell again...

SPLAT!

And with that the Ravenclaw was wet... Also her face stung a little but that went away by the time she reached the back of the line to try again. Seeing Penelope wet she was glad she was not the only one that didn't so so good!

After waiting for what felt like forever, Sophie found herself next in line to have a water balloon fight with the professor. Well, not quite a fight. He'd be throwing one at her, and she'd be stopping it mid-air. It's too bad she couldn't just allow herself to get hit. She thought that might be kind of fun, too.

Nevermind that, though.

The kid before her finished up and stepped back in line, so Sophie looked forward, stepped ahead, and gave the professor a 'hit me with your best shot' look. She gripped her wand a little harder, all the while remembering this was her first time doing a spell in front of everybody. If she messed up now, they'd never forget it.

She blinked, and a water balloon was floating her way. She squinted at it, almost unsure if she should let it hit her or actually give it a shot. Something snapped in her at the last second, and a force she'd summoned up from somewhere kicked in. She had to succeed in front of all these people. She wouldn't settle for anything less. She stared at the balloon and pictured it coming to a screeching halt in front of her.

The balloon flew closer to her face, and just before it got close enough to hit, Sophie raised her wand, waved it in a short motion, and called out a strong "Arresto Momentum!" She gritted her teeth and squeezed her eyes shut, and a few seconds later, nothing had hit her. She opened her eyes slowly and stared at the balloon, motionless in the air, just before her.

It wasn't like Mo felt that he'd completely mastered this spell, and already he was being asked to put his new skills to the test. And not something nice and easy... an object falling to the floor, ideally lethargically. No, the professor was throwing something right AT him. Right at Mo's face.

He didn't fancy the idea at all.

Still, he took his place in line and practiced the waving as he muttered the incantation over and over. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to take a water balloon to the face in front of his classmates. He'd still prefer avoiding it. Mo took his turn at the front of the line, forcing himself not to close his eyes in anticipation of the water balloon.

Come on, man! He didn't close his eyes when there was a Bludger zipping towards him, and that was a much bigger deal than a measly water balloon. He lifted his hand, pointed it in the professor's direction, and waited for the balloon to fly at him. A moment later, when it did, Mo waved his wand, "Arresto Momentum!"

It worked! The water balloon shimmied a little in mid-air, but it stopped in place. Mo grinned broadly as he snatched the balloon out of the air, although his grin faltered when his overly exuberant snagging of the balloon ruptured it right in his hand. At least it wasn't his face, right?

He surreptitiously wiped the water from his hand as he moved back to his desk to gather his belongings. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor."

Kace decided he was going to try the task again. He stepped forward after Mo went and braced himself. All the older kids had their turn and stopped the balloon completely. He could do it!! He knew he could do it. He took a deep breath and felt confident.

The professor threw the balloon at him then Kace said with a wave of his wand, "Arresto Momentum!!" very forcefully and then he STOPPED the balloon. YES!!! He did it! He grinned and his heart swelled with pride. The balloon stopped in midair. It didn't even move or flinch. Kace wished he could just touch it but then other students had to go. But at least he could say he finally mastered the spell. I mean the first time he didn't know what to expect. He could only imagine the professor's reaction right now.

OKAY.

ATTEMPT NUMBER TWO.

He really really REALLY was READY this time.

Tobias stepped forwards for his second go, wand already raised (it had kind of been raised since he'd noticed there were only three people left in front of him). He saw the balloon start moving and acted immediately.

"ArrESTo MomENTUM!" Slight panic at the end but he didn't want to get SPLASHED, you know?

To his pleasant surprise the spell totally WORKED. Or at least... the balloon slowed down, which totally counted. Tobias bounced in delight and grinned.

And used his wand to poke the balloon.

Which burst.

WELL HE'D MANAGED THE SPELL AND WASN'T TRYING AGAIN.

Pretending like nothing had happened, Tobias scooted off and got his things, piling everything into his bag bar his sweets, which he held in his hand and, you know, ate. Leeeeaning to the side a bit to get a good view of Professor Fuller, Tobias gave him a wave. "Bye Professor Neighbour! See you around."

AROUND.

Maybe with a skateboard. WHO KNEW.

WHo indeed.

Cutty watched as Benzi managed to stop the water balloon only to pop it in front of himself with his victory gesture. HA! Cutty pointed and snorted at his now wet frenemy. "Lookin' sharp, Rider!", he smirked.

He saw Benzi lock his eyes once again on that Newell girl and feeling inspired by what he'd just seen, decided to intervene. He'd stepped up front again next to Sophie wearing a large grin. "Nice work, Newell!" He said, sounding somewhat like he meant it had he not paired the comment with a POPPING of the suspended balloon with the tip of his wand.

Aidan stepped up for his own turn. He had this. Completely. Normally, he didn't HAVE charms until class ended and he was up in his dorm practicing them. But this one, he actually got.

At least he had it just before.

He readied his wand just before Professor Fuller threw the balloon. "Arresto Momentum!" he shouted a bit too loud, and waved his wand. Stoooop, balloon. Stop.

The boy flinched just a bit but......no contact was made. He was safe. HAH. He SO had this spell.

And he stepped aside for the next person.

Aha. Right. Making lines, whatever. Her bracelet was back on her wrist and he was going to throw water balloons at them? Yeah, that seemed to be fun for him. And those who couldn't master the spell, yeah?

Except...

...'Your job is to stop them with the charm you just learned before it explodes on your puberty-infested noses, alright?'...

...I hate you. That's what went through her mind the second she heard that, so it was pretty obvious that the NEXT thing on her mind was: Ivyyyyyyyyyy. Ivy Knox.

Either way Lottie stood in line and paid no attention to who was getting wet and who wasn't, she'll just wait for her turn. You know, ducking or dodging the water balloon somehow did cross her mind, never mind if the one behind her got wet, but that wouldn't get her anywhere NEAR what she wanted the most: LEAVING.

It was her turn and her intention was CLEAR as EVER. So, when the balloon went her way, Lottie just waved her wand, "Arresto Momentum!" and the balloon STOPPED. You can go ahead and do what you want with the balloon stuck in mid-air, Fuller, she was getting her bag and out of the classroom.

He did say they were free to leave.

Time to move on.. Claudette looked up as the professor addressed them, then got up to get in line with the rest of the class. She craned her neck to see over the students standing in front of her.. water balloons. That was interesting enough, she supposed. She certainly didn't want to take one to the face. A face that was not puberty-infested, thank you very much.

The 16 year old watched the people in front of her attempt the spell, some successfully, others not. She was starting to grow a little concerned, thinking about how many attempts at the spell she needed before the ink bottle stopped completely. What if she was too late? What if the water balloon hit her in the face? She didn't want to get drenched.

And then it was her turn. Claudette closed her eyes for a moment, picturing a balloon coming towards her then stopping at her command. Then she opened her eyes, raised her wand, and nodded at the professor to signal that she was ready. Her eyes trained on the balloon, the sixth year waved her wand, "Arresto Momentum!" It slowed but was still coming towards her and her eyes widened slightly. Taking a deep breath, Claudette focused again, picturing the balloon stopping. "Arresto Momentum!" she waved her wand and the balloon stopped inches from her face.

Claudette grinned as she saw that her spell worked and she plucked the balloon out of the air. "Here ya go, Professor," she said as she gave it an underhand toss back to the man to use for the next person in line. Hopefully he'd catch it or, you know, use the same spell so as not to get wet himself. "Thanks for a great lesson." Turning, she grabbed her things and headed out the door.

Water balloons? Alice squinted at the professor, eyes flickering to her clothes. The fact that it had taken her quite a bit of time to master the spell properly wasn't reassuring at all, and for the first time in forever, she wished they'd gotten a little more practice time before trying something hands-on. But no, Professor Facial Hair was going to be throwing a balloon right at her, and if she didn't cast the charm right...

.. well. Wetness. She could avoid that. Maybe.

Stepping into the line, the sixth year twirled her wand between her fingers as she muttered the incantation to herself again and again. Arresto Momentum. Ah-REST-oh Mo-MENT-um. Arresto Momentum. Taking a splash to the face didn't seem like the most awful thing in the world, but Alice's spell work was always adequate. Always. Especially in the presence of such lovely goatees.

When her turn at the front came, she stepped up nonchalantly, face not hinting the slightest bit at the amount of focus she was using up. Was PFH going to send that balloon flying yet? Alice didn't have all day, did he- BALLOON THERE WAS A BALLOON COMING AT HER FACE STOP STOPSTOP STOPSTOP STO- "Arresto Momentum!"

Oh, look, it stopped.

Grabbing the balloon out of midair, she grinned a toothy grin at Professor Facial Hair, whom she was seriously considering chucking the balloon at, and sauntered on over back to her desk to gather her things. All in all? Decent lesson. Just as good as Knox, except plus the perks of a mustache. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor Full..." ... of gorgeousness.

".... er. Fuller."

This time she would be ready!

Nerida lifted her wand when she reached the front and waited for the balloon to come to her. Not a moment later, it came. She waved her wand, "Arresto Momentum!"

It worked!!!! The water balloon slowed down and she quickly cast the spell again and this time it stopped in its place. She reached up and grabbed the balloon lightly not wanting anymore water and placed it with the others. Then she turned and went back to her desk to collect her belongings.

If there was one thing he doesn't like getting in class, it was getting himself or any of his belonging wet. Once his water spilled in his bag back at the muggle school, he was cranky for the whole day and lost control of his magic and unpleasant things happened to those who were getting in his way.

Angeal was caught by surprise when the teacher launched a water balloon at him. The boy managed to wave his wand towards the balloon just in time before it hit his face and spoke "Arresto Momentum!" He took a step back because the balloon was too close to his face. If it was a human, it could be classified as invasion of personal space. Once again, he was saved by his great reflexes.
