Background:
Dora Lovegood just recently returned to her home country after being in the US working for their Ministry. Dora is a half- blood witch with a bubbly personality but a short temper. She has recently been through a lot of ups and downs, but her co- worker, Silas, has seemed to give her a reason to stick around. Their "interaction" has started to bring out a new light in Dora.

ooc: This thread will give Dora a place to be with her friends and Silas. Dora's character will grow and learn more and more about herself.

Locations:

Dora's house: Inherited from a wizarding relative, Dora just recently renovated and moved into a new home. A sizeable home that reminds one of a farm house. The interior is just as bright as Dora's appearance and personality. Located inside the foyer is a talking mirror that gives out compliments or criticism... whichever is needed. Then you enter the large living room space where you see a ton of eclectic furniture in great colors and abstract shapes. There is a lovely fireplace, on the mantle there is a great collection of wizarding photgraphs. These photos range from her family to former co- workers from the US. The kitchen is very spacious and bright. One wall is nothing but windows, letting natural light spill in. The only room in the house that isn't bright and welcoming is Dora's "office"... well she practice's magic there and brews potions. Here are Dora's more personal photos and keepsakes. She keeps it locked away just like the memories.

There now hangs a portrait of the former lady of the house. She crossed over but felt that Silas needed her portrait to feel better... Besides, she couldn't fully leave her children or her husband so abruptly. Over time she will stop visiting the portrait, but for now she stands waiting for her loved ones to come to her. The other portrait hangs in her niece's bedroom, hung with a permanent sticking charm.

Dora's yard:

Dora has a grand yard that back's onto an enchanted forest with tons of trails and adventures to be had. Living in a Wizarding area Dora is free to fly or do whatever else she fancies outdoors. There is also a sizeable garden which Dora maintains. It is home to magical and Muggle plants alike, there are also pixies and gnomes that roam about. In the center of the garden is a lovely golden domed gazebo with a double swing that is perfect for cozying up on.

The Lake:

Dora's property is also home to a fantastic lake that is home to all sorts of magical creatures and plants. The creatures are well behaved though, so Dora swims often when the weather is nice.

Alistair could see the sincerity in Silas’ eyes. “Well, that is true Silas. You are nothing like the Druery's I’ve heard of.” Alistair saw a flicker of pain and disgust in Silas’ eyes when he pleaded his case against his family. Alistair softened a little toward Silas in this moment, Alistair knew what the Druery’s were capable of – if Silas had survived that and live to tell about it he could most certainly handle Dora’s temper.

Speaking of which, Dora was letting Alistair have it. And he knew he deserved it, and let her get it all out. He knew he was prying, but sometimes parents ask stupid and nosey questions. He waited patiently as she finished. He couldn’t but smile. “Yes Dora, You’re right hon. I’m very sorry.” She breathed deeply and came closer to her, he knew this was dangerous at this moment, but he couldn’t resist. He placed his hand on her shoulder, “You know I never thought I’d say this but I wish your mum was well enough to yell at me once more.” He chuckled as he looked down at the floor, “You look just like her when you get angry. Of course you sound like her too.”

“You know, I sometimes forget you’re grown Dora.” Alistair thought it was about time for him to get going. “Silas, I think you’re a good man. And I believe my daughter picked you for a reason.”

Silas... chose to ignore Dora's outburst at her father, instead letting them handle it on their own.

Meanwhile, Alistair seemed to be reassured. "Thank you sir, that means a great deal." As Silas stepped forward, hand extended to Alistair, the small, wrapped present in his back pocket, containing Dora's present popped out of his pocket and hit the floor near Dora's feet.

"Please, don't feel you have to go on my account. You and Dora should have some time together."

Dora was gearing up to get some more off of her chest when her daddy made it all better. She actually got a bit misty eyed at the mention of her mom. "I know it must be hard to hear me say those things to you, but it needed to be said daddy." she said calmly, her anger melted away at the touch of his hand. She rose to hug him.

Wait, what's this? Dora reached down and scooped up the present. Turning to Silas she asked, "Is this my other surprise? Can I open it now?" Not waiting for a reply she ripped into the paper like a child on Christmas. When she opened the box a single tear dropped her eye. She turned from her dad to Silas and said, "Oh, it's beautiful love! Thank you! Will you put it on me?" She reached behind her neck and unclasped the necklace that Alistair had given her and carefully laid it on the table.

Alistair reached for Silas’ hand and shook it, with a lot less tension and pressure than before. "Yes, well if my daughter says you're good to her, then that's all I need to know." Alistair’s eyes fell to the package on the floor, and then Dora opening it.

Alistair's heart sunk into his chest a little. He didn't let is be shown though. She was an adult, and she was in love. Although it would have been nice to wait to discard his gift until after he left, he thought. He was very much sulking. "Well that is a lovely necklace Silas."

Silas released Alistair's hand with a smile.

Turning to Dora, he realized that the moment for presenting the gift as he'd planned had passed. "I'm glad you like it," he said softly, noticing that she'd removed her father's necklace. This was going to be one of those moments.

Moving behind her, he whispered, only for her. "It's moonstone. In muggle mythology, it is a symbol of love and fidelity. And in our world, an item of balance and calm. All things you have brought to me and that I wish for you... for us." Silas had momentarily forgotten that Dora's father was there, as he brushed her hair to the side and secured the necklace clasp before letting his hands run down her shoulders and gave her a little squeeze.

Alistair forced a smile as the man softly placed the necklace around her neck; he was sure Dora saw right through him. He started to feel the tears well up, but she's suppose to be my little girl. Pouting again. Alistair knew this this day would come. Young love...

Quickly gaining composure he said,"Well, I must be off. I'm sure your mum is wondering where I am."

He gave his daughter a big hug, "I love you dear." Then turned to Silas, took his hand and pulled him into a man hand shake hug, "Take care of her for me." He said into his ear so Dora couldn't hear. He released Silas from the embrace and headed toward the floo.

"Oh, and next time I'll be sure to send an owl." He gave them both a wink and disappeared into the green smoke of the floo.

Dora was quite oblivious to how her dad might feel about her removing the necklace he gave her, until Silas had placed his around her neck and she was smiling at what he had whispered into her ear. That smile faltered when she saw the look on her daddy's face. She was suddenly very ashamed of herself.

She returned her dad's hug and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, whispering in his ear, "I'll always be my daddy's girl. I love you." She smiled at him as he embraced Silas. That was what she had hoped for and more. The two men in her life respecting one another. She felt awful that her dad felt that he had to call around before coming and she said, "Daddy, you're welcome in our home anytime you'd like. Send mum my love." She wasn't sure if he heard her over the roar of the flames in the fireplace.

As soon as he was gone she turned to Silas and smiled brightly. Well, that wasn't horrible and it was perfect timing for her other gift. SHe walked over and planted a kiss on his lips that made her toes curl and she whispered as she pull back, "Stay put, I'll be right back!" With that she dashed up the stairs and out of sight.

Silas was taken off-guard by the man pulling him into a hug. It seemed he'd met with Alistair's approval after all.

"You have my word," he responded in kind, so Dora could not hear them.

As Alistair disappeared and Dora turned to him, Silas couldn't help but relax. Circling her waist with his arms as she kissed him, Silas felt more at ease about his relationship than ever. Serious... even.

As Dora sprinted away, Silas blinked those thoughts from his mind. Valentine's day was certainly getting to him. THAT was certainly not a decision he could make now. No. Out of the question.

Silas flopped on the couch, waiting for Dora to return, sighing loudly and closing his eyes.

Dora began to descend the stairs. She was a big ball of nerves! Her hair was in little pin curls and her makeup was flawless. The little black dress was made just for her and you could tell! Her pink heels were fantastic also. Topping off the whole ensemble was the beautiful necklace Silas had given her. SHe stepped off of the steps and into the room.

She had her hands behind her back and a smile upon her face. With a quick wave of her wand Silas was donning a tux and the fairies were now lighting a path to the tent in the yard. The box containing the watch was in her free hand and she pulled in front of her as she stood in front of Silas and cleared her throat. "You ready for the rest of your gift love?" she asked in a sultry voice.

Silas opened his eyes as he heard the click of a heel on the stairs. Standing to look, his breath caught in his throat and his heart beat rapidly. Dora looked simply stunning. Breathtaking. Literally.

He was certainly under-dress... nevermind. Silas looked down as he saw his clothes transformed into a tuxedo. Quite dapper. Walking over to Dora slowly, Silas put his hands on her waist and pulled her close to him. "You mean the rest of my present isn't simply you? In that dress?" Silas grinned.

Yes, Dora was beautiful every day, but this? This was beyond. He had never, ever, seen her like this. He totally ignored the box in her hand as he kissed her and simply held her. "I certainly don't need anything else."

Them, together, that was enough.

Dora smiled as Silas approached looking amazing in his tux. She even giggled a little at his apparent loss for words. "Oh Merlin me. You obviously don't like the dress, I guess I'll go change" she joked.

Silas' kiss and embrace were enough to make her light headed she was so excited to show him what she done for them. THEM... wow they were now a them. Dora was so full of joy and happiness that she feared she may burst at the seams.

The smile spreading even further across her face she set the box down and took his hand, leading him toward the back door. Pointing out the windows to the twinkling lights of the fairies she said, "Just one more thing and you can just have me in the dress." She was being rather coy with him, batting her eyelashes.

Taking the lead she pushed the door open and the soft music from the tent filled their ears. Dora had thought of everything, down to heating the pathway so they wouldn't freeze on the way to the tent. For dramatic effect she paused outside of the tent with a smile on her face and asked, "So, have I peaked your interest yet?"

"No, not at all," Silas joked back. Silas felt his face flush as Dora toyed with him. What did she have planned?

As the music reached his ears, Silas cocked his head to the side. Hmm. Was it coming from.. the tent? Fairies were twinkling, lighting their way. Silas stepped out, expecting a chill, but the path was warm. She really had thought of nearly everything.

"Dora, this is amazing. And I don't even know what it is yet." Silas reached down and grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze.

Dora smiled and said, "Well isn't that point of surprises" she said as she opened the tent and walked inside, still holding on to Silas' hand. She was pleased to see that the fairies inside the tent twinkled like starlight and gave everything a little glow. She dropped Silas' hand and spun around on the glass dancefloor, making her dress flow. She stopped and said, "Well, I thought we'd share a dance or two."

The little collection of windwoods magically played in the corner of the tent.

As Dora led him into the tent, Silas was in awe at the amazing level of detail. The ceiling of the tent sparkled and glowed as the faeries flitted back and forth.

Silas released Dora's hand as she went to spin, never taking his eyes off of her. He was mesmerized by it all, but mostly by her. Smiling, eyes twinkling, he stepped onto the dance floor and toward Dora.

Bowing deeply, he took her hand and kissed it. "May I have this dance?"

Dora gave Silas a little curtsey and giggled, "You may" she said quietly. Taking his hand she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his neck and lay her head on his shoulder and began to sway in time with the music. "I just wanted to show you how much I love being with you." she said simply and kissed his neck. She was ao in love with him that it hurt sometimes. SHe had no cares in the world when she was in his arms and nothing felt more right.

She couldn't help but smile, her dreams were coming true and Silas was to thank for all of it. She whispered, "You have my heart now."

Silas wrapped his arms around Dora as they swayed. Leaning his head against hers, he closed his eyes as they turned in circles to the music. He breathed deeply, breathing her in.

This, right here, was comfort. This, right here, was peace. This, right here, was home. Everything Silas had ever lost and then wanted. It was here. With her.

"And you have mine." He pulled her closer, bringing his arm up across her back and simply holding her to him. "Always."

Dora could have cried, she was so happy. But of course she didn't she just smiled until she thought her face might break. She too was breathing Silas in as they held one another close. She swayed in time with Silas and spun when he span. It was like they were one person.

The music ended and Dora asked, "Fancy another dance or do you just want to go inside?"

Still holding her close, Silas opened his eyes at her question. "I could do this forever," he whispered, referring to the dancing.

"Though, if you'd like to sit down... do you think you could manage that warming spell on the gazebo? We could watch the faeries."

Dora sighed with joy and just kept swaying in time to the next song the magical orchestra had struck up. After a moment she said, "Yes, let's sit and watch the little buggers." She was content doing anything that meant she could stay close to Silas.

With a wave of her wand she set a warming charm to work on the tent and conjured up a plush loveseat for them to sit on. The faeries were all a twitter, flying all about. Some of them were dancing through the air in time to the music. There were small trails of fairydust floating about making beautiful silver and gold lines through the air.

After Dora had cast the charm and conjured the seating, Silas grabbed her hand again to twirl her in time with the music. Laughing softly, Silas backed slowly toward the seat, continuing to spin her.

When the backs of his legs hit the seat, he sat down slowly as she twirled, before pulling her onto his lap.

"What an amazing evening," he whispered, watching her, and her only, despite the twinkling of light and fairydust.

Dora giggled softly as she spun around on the dancefloor. It was all.. for lack of a better word... magical! Her clumsiness had not manifested itself one time during the evening, which was saying a lot considering she was in 4 inch heels!

As she perched herself in Silas' lap she said, "It is only amazing because you're here." She knew that was solely her opinion, but she felt that way. Looking into Silas' eyes she said, "Sorry Daddy gave you a hard time today. He only wanted to make sure you were up to the task of taking care of his baby. Which I think you most certainly are. You have taken care of my heart very well." With that she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek letting her lips linger there for a moment.

"He did exactly what I expected him to," Silas whispered as he leaned his head against Dora's. Well, except for that bit about marriage and babies. He hadn't anticipated that so much.

"I hope I've taken care of the rest of you well, too," he joked lightly, kissing her temple as he grasped her hand. "Dora," he added, quite seriously, "I'm not sure how you can manage to put up with my quirks and my worries and all of that, but I am in awe of it. I didn't think I would ever have a chance at this. It... amazes me that you're here, loving me."

Dora sighed and closed her eyes as Silas spoke trying to keep though stubborn tears of happiness from falling. Once she had composed herself she turned to face him and said, "Well, I figure we're even with the quirks and what not. You have been so good putting up with my mood swings and attacks and have taken care of me so well." She ran a hand through his hair, letting it rest on the nape of his neck. Looking deep into his eyes she whispered, "You amaze me. I am in utter awe of you. The are the best man I have ever known and nothing makes me happier than being here with you right now." SHe almost said forever buit held her tongue. Silas so obviously has commitment issues and Dora doesn't want to push it.. yet.

Silas lifted a finger and ran it along the necklace he'd given her. "I meant it, you know. Love and fidelity. I'm yours, always."

And he meant it. Every word. It wasn't a plan, just a truth. No matter what happened tomorrow, next month, next year, Dora was a part of him now and that doesn't go away. Even if you can't bear to say that you'd like to be around a year from now because tomorrow might not come.

Dora leaned in and gave him another kiss before saying, "I can't think of anything that would make me happier than having you forever, Silas." She kissed him again and then said, "Let's go in and sit by the fire."
