Hogwarts RPG Name: Fabian Gwalchmai Clark | Vanishing Cabinet Rules & Guidelines.
Please read and understand all the rules in this forum, as well as the SS Board Rules & School RPG Rules before posting in any RPs or starting any new RPs. Failure to comply may lead you to restricted access to this forum, you could be warned, suspended, or banned from this forum or site. Welcome to The Vanishing Cabinet; a new forum collaboration between Hogwarts School RPG, Ministry of Magic RPG & Knockturn Alley. We have recognized the importance of developing a School/Ministry Role Play Character (Student, Professor, Ex Ministry worker, or even Auror) and the knowledge to determine their characteristics in their many dimensions. Many of us want to investigate our characters a bit further especially when they are not in School/Ministry, or investigate a particular period of their life and so on. As such, this forum has been created to assist in this road without causing confusion within School/Ministry RPG Premises. Without further ado, please read the forum Rules below before creating your Roleplay. And most of all have fun! 1.Hogwarts School/Ministry of Magic RPG Related: All Roleplays submitted to this forum must be related to your Hogwarts School/Ministry of Magic RPG Character. It can be associated with your character’s home or life when not in school/work. All other incompatible RPG shall be moved to most applicable forum within Knockturn Alley. 2.RP Titles: Keep the titles short and sweet. Typically they are not longer than four or five words, and they should reflect the RP description. No JOIN HERE titles and no I'll think of one later titles allowed. Those will be rejected right off or we'll create one for you... and you might not like that. Excessive amount of exclamation marks, use of capitalization or symbols will be removed. 3.RP Plots: Again, ALL plots submitted to this forum need to revolve around your School/Ministry RPG Character when not attending school/work. It can run simultaneously to school term timeline, future, or in the past. All school related RPG need to remain within the School Forum, and Ministry-related RPG need to remain within the Ministry Forum. All other incompatible shall be moved to other forums within Knockturn Alley. When submitting a thread, please describe your plot clearly along with the characters you’d like to host for the particular scene. This will make it easier for members to pick their choice and develop consistent biographies. 4.RP Characters: These Roleplays are intended to be a place to extend your storylines or to explore past events in your character's storyline. You must have additional people RPing with you, although you are free to ask someone to pick up a character and help you figure things out. It is NOT a place for monologues or to RP on your own. 5.Prerequisite: While a person can be involved in multiple threads, a character may only have one thread. Within this thread, you can explore all your characters dealings within it. Once you’ve finished a phase or a scene you can start the next one with a new post. Do not start a new thread for a new scene. This could remind you of a pensieve if you wish. For example; I’ll start a thread with Lua Stone (an RP character) and within this thread I’ll RP all her related scenes that I wish to accomplish (ex: when she got her first Hogwarts letter, the first time she did magic, during her 5th year summer break, and so on). At the start of each scene one could present the characters that would be required for the coming scene. When submitting a thread, please only present the first scene. 6.Enrollment: Because there are a limited number of characters involved in scenes and because the RPer of the main character has a specific idea of where the scene may be going, there will not be open enrollment in a lot of these RPs. You shouldn't expect to enter these RPs and be able to join as a traditional RP. 7.OOC: OOC messages are not allowed to take place unless they are in a post with Roleplay. Only thread starters may post single OOC posts regarding the RP. We have a lovely PM system for members to use for all sorts of discussions or use our chat thread in the main KA forum. Frequent OOC posts will result in the RP being closed. 8.RP Ratings: The rating for this forum shall remain PG 13. We decided to keep it to an advanced level to target all audiences. However, profanity and sexual behavior is prohibited at all times. All Snitchseeker rules do apply here. 9.Insulting each other: Everyone in this forum has the right to creative freedom without fear of insults, etc. That means if you don't like someone's character; simply do not RP with them. Don't insult their character or the way they RP. That will result in getting a warning or being banned from the forum. Please ensure you do NOT mistake IC (In Character) insults for OOC (Out of Character). 10.Common RP courtesy: It is frowned upon by RPers for you to manipulate someone else's characters or put words into their mouth. That also goes for stepping on the originator's toes plot-wise or preventing other people from seeing their plots through to completion. You do not have to be queen or king of the RP. You are a member, part of a team. Act like it. If you continually behave like this, you may be removed from a RP at the request of the originator. 11.Manners: Just be nice to each other and be nice to your moderators. We each have several jobs on this site, so we may not be as fast as you'd like. That doesn't mean you can be impatient or rude with us. We want you to have a good time and we do promise you that we will tend to you as fast as we can. 12.Reporting to Mods: Thread starter (person who started the thread) is ultimately responsible for the RP, although anyone breaking the rules will answer for that. If you have problems or concerns, it would be fastest to check and see which K.A. moderators are online and PM one of them. Next fastest would be PMing the moderators even if they aren't online, however many you want (so long as they are K.A. mods). Last, post in the Questions thread. 13.Inactive RPs: After a month of inactivity for a RolePlay, the RP shall be moved to the House of Gaunt forum (Inactive RPs Forum). Simply PM a mod to get it out of there. After another month of inactivity in that forum, the RP is deleted. 14.Completed RPs: If your RP is finished, PM a mod to move it to the finished forum or we'll move it after a month of inactivity. All finished RPs go to Spinners End forum. 15.Plagiarism: Plagiarism is a big no-no across SS, and that goes for the RPs as well. While we realize that there are so many plotlines, etc. in the world, it is very apparent when you are taking a plot directly from another person or stealing their RP characters as a whole. As of now, if you are caught plagiarizing someone else's RP and they can submit reasonable proof that it is in fact a copy of their own ideas and writing, the guilty party will be infracted and the RP will be closed and deleted. Changing a name or a few minor details does not make the writing your own. 16.'Edit Later' posts: These have been very common, especially when they aren't edited and the members post their biography after. If you do not have time to post your biography but would like a specific character you PM the thread starter to hold that position for you. If you post these sorts of posts it will be considered as SPAM; continually doing this will lead to warnings and possible infractions. 17.Post length: This forum is measured as an advanced forum. Thus your Roleplay posts should generally be decent in length. Please try to make your posts a couple of sentences long. We understand sometimes that this is impossible but try to make posts as lengthy as possible. It makes your RP more challenging for other members and yourself and makes it more fun for everyone. 18.No Celebrity: We do not allow members to Roleplay celebrities or the cast of the Harry Potter films. We do not believe it is right to give someone control over someone who does exist in real life and may potential make a mockery out of them.
19. Images: Images used within the RP, either in biographies or within posts to show appearances, must follow SS rules. Hotlinking is not allowed. Please see here for further information on this subject. Also, all SS rules apply to images in RP's. There is to be no depiction of subjects that break these rules. How Does the RP Process Work? This forum is moderated meaning all RPs submitted shall enter a queue for moderator approval. This can take up to several days, so please be patient. Please include: a title, a brief but descriptive plot, a list of necessary characters, and possibly the bios of the character(s) that you intend to play as a guide for the others who are joining.
• You may resubmit the RP, but don't just resubmit it as it was before. A moderator shall contact you regarding the modification required for approval. Once they do, fix it up before you resubmit. • RPs that are approved appear in this forum. Members are welcome to submit possible characters for approval by the person submitting the RP. Please post a full bio for made-ups at this time, not an "I'll play my character Josie Jones!" • Once the owner of the thread approves the necessary characters and feels there are enough to start, he or she may begin the RP, typically with some sort of general post, but that's up to thread starter. • Posting ensues. A good time is had by all. The owner of the RP is responsible for reporting problems/concerns to K.A. moderators. • Thread starters will receive a PM with a reminder of the rules since they are the ones responsible for their RP. A small announcement with the link to these rules will be posted in every RP. • Please leave up to three days before resubmitting an RP that hasn’t been validated. Just in case it’s still awaiting validation.
