Background:
Dora Lovegood just recently returned to her home country after being in the US working for their Ministry. Dora is a half- blood witch with a bubbly personality but a short temper. She has recently been through a lot of ups and downs, but her co- worker, Silas, has seemed to give her a reason to stick around. Their "interaction" has started to bring out a new light in Dora.

ooc: This thread will give Dora a place to be with her friends and Silas. Dora's character will grow and learn more and more about herself.

Locations:

Dora's house: Inherited from a wizarding relative, Dora just recently renovated and moved into a new home. A sizeable home that reminds one of a farm house. The interior is just as bright as Dora's appearance and personality. Located inside the foyer is a talking mirror that gives out compliments or criticism... whichever is needed. Then you enter the large living room space where you see a ton of eclectic furniture in great colors and abstract shapes. There is a lovely fireplace, on the mantle there is a great collection of wizarding photgraphs. These photos range from her family to former co- workers from the US. The kitchen is very spacious and bright. One wall is nothing but windows, letting natural light spill in. The only room in the house that isn't bright and welcoming is Dora's "office"... well she practice's magic there and brews potions. Here are Dora's more personal photos and keepsakes. She keeps it locked away just like the memories.

There now hangs a portrait of the former lady of the house. She crossed over but felt that Silas needed her portrait to feel better... Besides, she couldn't fully leave her children or her husband so abruptly. Over time she will stop visiting the portrait, but for now she stands waiting for her loved ones to come to her. The other portrait hangs in her niece's bedroom, hung with a permanent sticking charm.

Dora's yard:

Dora has a grand yard that back's onto an enchanted forest with tons of trails and adventures to be had. Living in a Wizarding area Dora is free to fly or do whatever else she fancies outdoors. There is also a sizeable garden which Dora maintains. It is home to magical and Muggle plants alike, there are also pixies and gnomes that roam about. In the center of the garden is a lovely golden domed gazebo with a double swing that is perfect for cozying up on.

The Lake:

Dora's property is also home to a fantastic lake that is home to all sorts of magical creatures and plants. The creatures are well behaved though, so Dora swims often when the weather is nice.

"I know," he said softly... apologetically. "And I am." He had been so caught up in worry, fear and a bit of residual anger that he'd forgotten everything good about what was happening. But that changed, now.

Taking the necklace box back, he removed the chain from it. Gently, he draped it around her neck and fastened the clasp. Resting his hands on her shoulders, he gave her a soft kiss at the spot where the neck curves to the shoulder.

"We can do it together," he whispered, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close.

Dora smiled a small sad smile as Silas rested his hands on her shoulders. She feared that Silas would change his mind about all of it... their marriage, their children... she was afraid he'd still get scared and leave. But for now he was there and he was trying. She would take what she could get.

"Yes, love. Together." Dora breathed in his ear as he pulled her into his embrace. As much as she wanted to be happy she still had that fear tugging away at her. That fear that she would lose her happiness.

Silas gathered her into his arms and placed a hand on the back of her head, lowering it to his shoulder.

"I'm sorry. I am so so sorry I made you sad." He voice cracked as he thought about how much he had put her through, even if it had been completely unintentional.

He kissed the top of her head, though his eyes looked over the top of it, lost somewhere in the distance. Tears threatened at the corners.

"Every day, I will try to make that up to you. And I know it will never be enough." He gave her another squeeze before pulling back and placing his hand under her chin.

Raising it gently, he searched her face. "You're my life now. You and the babies. I could no sooner walk away from the three of you than I could step out of my own skin." His eyes were misty and he hoped his tone of voice conveyed his sincerity.

He needed her to know.

Dora let her head be pushed onto Silas' shoulder and more silent tears escaped her eyes. Oh my goodness. Silas had hurt her... but she was already hurt beyond repair. And that had very little to do with Silas to be perfectly honest.

"Oh love, it's okay. I have just been through so much lately that everything is intensified right now. It's not all you. I'm scared too and I'm scared to be scared because I don't want it to weigh on you... it's just all a big mess." Dora explained after he pulled her face up to look at his own.

"You three are my life also and I will stop at nothing to make you all happy and safe. I love you more than life itself... now I love the babies that much too." Dora said as she let her hands fall to her belly. Averting her eyes from Silas' she said in a small voice, "I just don't want to make this any harder on you than it already is."

Silas cupped her face in his hands and pressed his lips to her forehead. "No no, none of that," Silas said seriously.

First pulling her face back to him, and then dropping his hands so that they rested on top of hers on her belly, he looked into her eyes. "Promise me that you'll tell me how you feel. Please. Let me be here for all of it."

"It's ok to be scared. And it's ok to tell me that you're scared. It's supposed to be scary. We're going to have two little lives completely dependent on us. If we're not scared, we're not paying attention."

He dropped his eyes to look at her stomach and drew a ragged breath, trying not to get too emotional, before looking back up at her, smiling. "I know you're worried. But it's exactly that worry that will make you a brilliant mother."

Dora let him pull her face back up once again and se looked deep into his eyes. "Love, I have been so crazy from the start of this.... before the babies.... I am afraid that you will have had enough one of these days. That would kill me. Literally." she said as a sob stuck in her throat.

She listened to Silas and nodded her head in agreement. "Yes, love. I suppose you have a point there. Bu-but-but... what if I turn out like MY mother." she said and the tears started again.

Silas' heart ached as Dora looked at him. Any attempt to keep from crying failed in that moment as tears dripped from the corners of his eyes.

"Oh, love." Those were the only words that came to him. He was deflated. Did she really think he would leave? "No no no. I'm here. Always." He laced his fingers through hers, his eyes begging her to believe that. To not worry about that.

As she started to cry, he pulled her into another hug. "Oh, my sweet, sweet, Dora." He chuckled softly. "You could never, ever be Agrona."

Dora's heart melted as tears dropped Silas' eyes and he comforted her. "I am just afraid I'll be too much crazy for you one of these days, love. I know I can be a hand full." she said as she reached out and wiped the tears from his eyes.

As he pulled her into the hug she couldn't help but chuckle a bit too. "I certainly hope you're right. I don't remember her always being so crazy... maybe it just happened one day." she said. "But, yes I suppose you're right love. And you know that you will never be like your family either, right." she pointed out as she lay her head in the nook of his shoulder.

"I knew what I was getting into when I sent you on the ridiculous hunt for your ring, love." He rubbed her arm absentmindedly. "Need I remind you of that rather strong stinging hex that got me full in the face?" He chuckled to let her know that he wasn't at all mad about it.

His chuckling stopped when she mentioned his family, though. Letting her statement hang in the air, he shifted into a more comfortable position as she rested against him. That was his one outstanding fear, greater than any of the others had been.

"Our family will be what we decide," he choked out, finally. "It won't matter how we grew up or what's hiding in our family trees."

He didn't know what a happy childhood looked like, but by Merlin, he was going to make one for his children.

Dora had to chuckle a bit when he mentioned the wild goose chase on an engagement. "Oh love, did you have to mention the stinging hex? I do feel right awful about that.. nearly broke me wand, if you remember. Kind of a sore spot." Dora teased.

"That it will, love. So we both need to let go of the pointless fears of how our family could turn out and make it the best it can be. Now granted I will be a bit jealous when there are two little tykes around getting all or your attention... but I think I can live with it." Dora said as she lifted her head off of his shoulder and smiled a thousand watt smile for him.

"Ummm... love. I hate to break up this lovely little moment but I am really getting hungry. Could we order in tonight and eat in bed? I am really exhausted after all the news we got. Imagine how fat I am going to get with twins.... I knew I wasn't imagining the belly.." she rambled as she scooched herself off of the couch and held out a hand to help him up. She whistled loudly for Belladonna so they could order their food.

"I'm glad you did it, you know," he said simply. And he was. It had given him a lot to think about and, well, all that thinking had led to a ring.

He returned her smile as she talked of two little ones getting all his attention. He really hoped that his awkwardness around children would not extend to his own. "You'll just have to get all my attention plus some until then, then," he teased.

He stomach grumbled at her mention of food. "I think that's a splendid idea," he said as he took her hands, but really stood of his own accord. "But remember what I said I would do so you wouldn't fall?" His eyes twinkled mischievously as he stepped forward. Bending, he wrapped one arm around her back and one under her knees, and with one swoop, had lifted her into his arms.

"Shall we?"

"Oh all of your attention and then some sounds divine honey." Dora laughed.

She giggled again as Silas' stomach seemed to rumble on cue. Belladonna swooped into the room and landed on the back of the couch and began to hoot happily. Dora summoned forward quill and parchment and scribbled down an order for Mexican food for Belladonna to take to the restaurant and then sent her on her way back out. "We'll be having Mexican tonight, love. And I must warn you I ordered a bit of everything I am afraid." she said trying to look properly abashed. She failed and then laughed heartily.

As Silas scooped her up into his arms she said, "Well, this I could get used to love. I really could." SHe then peppered his face with kisses as he held her there. "yes, let's" she responded between kisses.

Silas beamed as she kissed his face. Things seemed... better. Yes. He'd have to remember to thank Pandora.

"Then, let's go," he said with a tinkling laugh, as he headed toward the stairs, relishing in the moment. As he headed up, careful not to trip, seeing as he was carrying his entire family, he recalled the invitation he'd extended.

Headed down the hall, he broached the subject. "I think we should have some of your friends over... while we still can. I told Pandora that I thought she should stop by. Are you up for guests soon?"

He continued his walk through the door, and, kissing her forehead, set her down on the bed.

Dora's eyes sparkled as Silas carried her up the stairs being super careful. She was about to answer his question about company when the intruder charms started to go off. There was a little knock onthe front door so she was sure it was nothing. Unholstering her wand she turned the alarms off and looked to Silas. "Guess we already have company babe. Wanna go see who it is? Or shall I?" she asked.

"You just stay where you are. I'll go down," he said softly. He'd just carried her upstairs, after all. Would have been rather pointless if she'd just gotten up and headed back down.

He didn't think they were expecting anyone, but well, Dora didn't seem terribly concerned. Turning quickly on his heels, he bounded down the stairs. "Just a second," he called across the house. Quickly checking that his wand was holstered properly in case it was needed, he headed to the front door.

Reaching for the knob, he turned it slowly and pulled it open.

Lexi stood onthe front step of her Aunt Dora's house, broom in hand. As she was expecting Dora to answer the door she was a bit surprised when a rather scruffy looking, skinny man answered instead.

Smiling she said, "Well, you must be Uncle Silas. Alexandra Kennedy, Dora's neice, pleased to meet you." She was apprasing the man as she stood there. He didn't look strong enough to handle Dora... but obviously he was or else he wouldn't be around.

"Is Auntie Dora available, Silas?" Lexi asked with a little impatience as she still stood on the stoop.

Silas relaxed markedly when he saw that it was a child on the step. He was about to ask who she was when she called him Uncle Silas.

Aha. The niece.

"Hi Alexandra. Come in," he smiled and stepped aside, waiting for her to enter. Closing the door behind them, he walked toward the living room. "She's just upstairs having a rest. Let me get her."

Rather than shout, Silas conjured a talking patronus and sent it towards their room. As the coyote calmly lumbered up the stairs, he turned back to the girl.

"Can I get you anything?"

The coyote slunk into the bedroom and came to rest next to Dora, speaking calmly with Silas' voice.

"Your niece has come to call. I didn't think I should send her up without letting you know. We're downstairs."

Dora had been humming to the babies when Silas' Patronus landed next to her. Cute little coyote. Hearing that Alexandra was there she immediately hopped out of the bed and headed for the stairs.

Propping her brromstick up on the porch Lexi smiled and entered the house. Looking around she couldn't help but smile. Dora sure was colorful.

Eyeing the man as he sent what she thought to be a Patronus up to her aunt she said, "No thanks, I'm cool." Instead she sauntered ove to the couch and plopped herself right down and let her feet swing as she waited for Dora.

As Dora reached the bottom of the steps she saw Alexandra plopping herself down on the couch. "Young lady, you had better get your bony behind up and come give me a proper greeting." Dora said as she quickened her pace to get to her neice.

"My word, look how much you've grown.... Wait.. how did you get here? Do your evil parents know where you are?" she asked.

He smiled as the girl plopped on the couch but was distracted as he heard movement upstairs.

Silas held his breath as he watched Dora race down to see her niece, ready, if needed, to cast a quick cushioning charm. She tripped when she wasn't rushing, after all.

So, Dora hadn't been expecting her. Had the child flown here on her own? That was certainly... bold.

Silas stood back, perhaps a little awkwardly. He... had no idea what to do in this situation.

Lexi hopped up and quickly rushed forward to embrace her aunt, tripping on her shoelace as she did so. Falling to the floor she muttered, "Bloody hell. Sorry about that" She quickly pushed herself up from the floor and dusted off her hands.

Then she embraced Dora like she hadn't seen her in years. When in reality it had only been weeks.. maybe a month. "So this is the hubby, huh?" Lexi asked with a smirk as she pulled away from Dora. She knew she couldn't ignore her aunt's line of questioning so she shook her head and said, "Of course they don't know where I am, nor do they care. I flew here from the house. You can tell them if you want, but they won't care either way" she said, her anger apparent in her voice.

Dora shook her head as Alexandra crashed to the floor of her living room. "Watch your mouth little girl!" Dora said with mock shame. Then laughing she returned the girl's embrace with as much feeling as she gave. "Look at you, being all protective and whatnot. Yes, this is your Uncle Silas, you little brat." she teased as she put a hand on her neice's shoulder. She listened with a furrowed brow as the girl went off about her parents. "Ah, don't worry. I won't tell. But I insist you Floo back. It is too dangerous to fly from here to Godric's Hollow you crazy thing." she said firmly. Motioning to Silas she then said, "Come on love, come sit with us. You can be properly scoped out that way. My little Alexandra here needs to make sure you're good enough."

It seemed that young Alexandra was every bit as graceful as her Aunt. And held a similar opinion of her parents as Dora did. Merlin.

But, it was Dora's family and Silas wasn't going to say anything about what he thought should be happening with a child randomly showing up at the door. Nope. Nothing at all.

Though, it seemed, just like the rest of the family, Alexandra had to pass her judgment on Silas too. Smiling, perhaps a little painfully, Silas sat in one of the armchairs, leaving the couch for Dora and the girl.

Nodding her head and looking properly abashed she said, "Okay, I'll Floo back.

Lexi couldn't help but laugh at the pained look on her new Uncle's face. She held up her hands and said, "Hey man, it's okay. I am not the worst critic. As long as my Auntie's happy you're fine by me." Without thinking she ran forward and hugged Silas and said, "Welcome to the family." Quickly releasing him she returned to Dora's side. Why had she just hugged the awkward man? Oh well he was her family now. The only family that mattered anyway.

Plopping down on the couch she looked at Dora and said, "I need your help, please. A little bit of magic that I am not skilled enough or old enough to perform. Please please please." No need in beating around the bush about it.

Dora smiled as Alexandra looked ashamed.. she knew she wasn't the cheeky little thing. She then dropped down on the couch and watched as Silas lollygagged his way over to join them.

OH MY! The child has just hugged him. Oh how sweet! Dora couldn't help it she actually began to cry a little. But she dried up her tears quickly and sniffled a bit. "That's lovely dear. Thank you. I love you for that." she said to her neice as she plopped down on the couch next to her.

"Figured it was something. What do you need you little sneak?" Dora asked with a raised eyebrow. This was bound to be good.

Oh, Merlin's sassy silk jammies, she was hugging him. He raised a hand with just the slightest trepidation and patted her on the shoulder. "Thank you," he said softly, feeling incredibly awkward. "I appreciate that."

He looked over to Dora and noticed that she'd gotten a little... emotional. It drew a genuine smile from him, as her niece settled on the couch.

Now, down to business. Magic favors, eh? Though, he was sure 'little bit' was up for interpretation.

Dora raised an eyebrow at her neice and looked her directly in the eye. "A littlepiece of magic, you say. What are you up to young lady?" she said with a grin. This child was too much like herself. It was eerie really. She crossed her arms across her chest and waited for the bombshell.

Lexi shifted a bit on the couch and said, "Well, I need you to set me up a portkey to Henderson's Copse. It's real important Auntie Dora. I think Lorcan's gran is like being really really hateful to him and he needs me right now. I can't very well fly that far, so I need your help. You can set it to leave and return here and then I will Floo home. I only need one hour. Please please please." the child blurted out as she turned her best puppy dog eyes to her aunt.

Dora was not expecting that... she was silent for a moment and turned to look at Silas.

Silas' eyebrow shot up at the word portkey. Portkeys were not little magic. They were regulated and sometimes a little tricky, particularly for what she was asking.

He looked over to Dora. It was her call. Alexandra was her niece, and it would be her own sister she had to answer to if there was a problem.

A portkey was risky. What if she missed it on the way back? Wouldn't a side-along apparition be better? That would include a chaperone, at least.

Silas' mind raced at the request, but his face clearly read 'I don't think that's a good idea.'
