| | | Lovegood Lane Background:
Dora Lovegood just recently returned to her home country after being in the US working for their Ministry. Dora is a half- blood witch with a bubbly personality but a short temper. She has recently been through a lot of ups and downs, but her co- worker, Silas, has seemed to give her a reason to stick around. Their "interaction" has started to bring out a new light in Dora.
ooc: This thread will give Dora a place to be with her friends and Silas. Dora's character will grow and learn more and more about herself. Locations: Dora's house: Inherited from a wizarding relative, Dora just recently renovated and moved into a new home. A sizeable home that reminds one of a farm house. The interior is just as bright as Dora's appearance and personality. Located inside the foyer is a talking mirror that gives out compliments or criticism... whichever is needed. Then you enter the large living room space where you see a ton of eclectic furniture in great colors and abstract shapes. There is a lovely fireplace, on the mantle there is a great collection of wizarding photgraphs. These photos range from her family to former co- workers from the US. The kitchen is very spacious and bright. One wall is nothing but windows, letting natural light spill in. The only room in the house that isn't bright and welcoming is Dora's "office"... well she practice's magic there and brews potions. Here are Dora's more personal photos and keepsakes. She keeps it locked away just like the memories. The view from the foyer Isabella Belladonna There now hangs a portrait of the former lady of the house. She crossed over but felt that Silas needed her portrait to feel better... Besides, she couldn't fully leave her children or her husband so abruptly. Over time she will stop visiting the portrait, but for now she stands waiting for her loved ones to come to her. The other portrait hangs in her niece's bedroom, hung with a permanent sticking charm. Dora's yard:
Dora has a grand yard that back's onto an enchanted forest with tons of trails and adventures to be had. Living in a Wizarding area Dora is free to fly or do whatever else she fancies outdoors. There is also a sizeable garden which Dora maintains. It is home to magical and Muggle plants alike, there are also pixies and gnomes that roam about. In the center of the garden is a lovely golden domed gazebo with a double swing that is perfect for cozying up on. The Lake:
Dora's property is also home to a fantastic lake that is home to all sorts of magical creatures and plants. The creatures are well behaved though, so Dora swims often when the weather is nice. Quote:

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger Silas' head jerked up at the sound of Dora's voice, whacking it on the top of the window with a resounding thud. Merlin.
Rubbing his head, he drew back into the house and closed the window, trying to buy himself some time before answering. Turning to the woman he loved -- yes, despite the shadiness, he sincerely did -- he put on his best lying face. He had years of practice, after all, and so it was always pretty convincing.
"I'd put in an order at the apothecary for some potions supplies. That's all. It was their owl with a note asking a question. I was just sending my answer back." He approached Dora slowly and put his hands on her upper arms before giving her a quick kiss. "That's all."
Kissing her forehead lightly, he released her and turned to the table. With a flick of his wand, he cleared away the glasses and pushed in the chairs. "How's your father?" he asked with genuine interest.
He thought on Alistair for a moment. He respected the man... and knew that he would kill Silas is he knew what he was up to.
*sigh*

Dora raised an eyebrow at him when he gave her his explanation. She didn't buy it 100%, but it was feasible....
Shrugging internally she smiled at him weakly and said, "Dad is fine. He sends his love. He was surprised that we were still in one piece after Mummy Dearest paid a visit. But I told him how well you handled things and he said to give you a pat on the back." Dora smiled at him but it never touched her eyes.
"So, I think I will go up to bed, love. Are you going to be joining me soon. I know you said you had things to care of and all" Dora asked. She tilted her head to the side a bit and waited for his response.

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger "It was a pleasure meeting her," he said, tired. The glamour charm he'd put on much earlier that day had faded, but he hadn't noticed, the dark circles under his eyes returning slowly.
He looked at her sadly as she smiled, her eyes betraying something else. Did she suspect? No, of course she did. The question was what did she suspect.
Taking her hand, he intertwined his fingers with hers and managed a weak smile. "It can wait," he lied. In reality, he'd already taken care of the stuff he had to do. "I'd much rather head upstairs with you."

Dora furrowed her brow once again as dark rings began to appear under Silas' eyes. She quickly rearranged her features and smiled at him, still lacking something in her eyes. "I have never heard anyone say that meeting Agrona Black Lovegood was a pleasure, but sure, why not." Dora quipped.
She looked down at Silas' hand as he took hers in his own and frowned briefly. Dora you're just being silly. Silas loves you and would never keep anything from you she scolded herself. Shaking her head free of those thoughts she looked up into his eyes and smiled a genuine smile and said, "That sounds lovely dear. Let's go."

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger "An adventure, then?" he joked, resting his head against Dora's, but definitely looking over it.
A few weeks, now. Just a few weeks. He let his mind wander for a moment, before being snapped back to reality by Dora's voice.
Looking down and catching her smile, he did as well. If everything went according to plan, they'd be back to mostly normal soon.
"Lead the way," he said softly, releasing her hand to grab his wand and put out the lights.

"I don't think anyone would call that an adventure, either. Torture maybe" Dora said with a little laugh. She let her mind wander back ove rthe events of the day and had to supress a shudder. Her mum was one tough cookie, but she did love her.
Dora took Silas by the hand and led the way up the stairs to their room. She quickly got into her pajamas and climbed into bed, yawning widely as she did so. She smiled sweetly at Silas and let her eyes drift closed.

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger Silas slipped into bed beside Dora, smiling as she fell asleep. But once she was out, Silas continued to stare at the ceiling.
Hours and hours passed, and soon the sun began to stream in through the window, Silas still having gone without sleep. Turning to look at Dora as she slept, Silas smiled softly, before kissing her cheek softly and getting out of bed.
Casting a muffliato charm so as not to wake her, Silas showered and dressed, and, having then lifted the charm, he left a note before heading out of the house and into the early morning sun. Quote:
Dora,
Couldn't sleep. Had an errand to run, anyway. See you at work.
All my love,
Silas

Dora stretched and yawned, opening her eyes she quickly shielded them. It was mid morning already and the sun was blazing in her room. She reached over to throw her arm across Silas and found he had vacated the bed. Opening her eyes again she saw a note... a note in the place of her man.
Scowling she picked up the note and read it over twice. All this things to do nonsense was starting to wear on her already. She was quite wary of his behavior lately and was determined to find out what he is up to....
She showered and dressed quickly before rushing off to work. Silas be damned... he could find her today, she was too peeved to bother with him. It would be all irrational and hexy and that would not be a good thing...

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger DAYS / WEEKS later Silas raced in the front door frantically, having taken down the protective charms on his way in, tearing through the living room and up the stairs, not caring that he was trailing ash from his last trip in the floo everywhere. It would get cleaned later by... someone. Not him. Maybe. Who knew.
Racing into his study, he grabbed the book where it was hidden from the shelf, opened it, palmed the item and stuck it in his pocket. Beads of sweat on his forehead, he raced back down the stairs and out the front door, slamming it behind him.
The charms were still down.
................. Some time later that day ..........................
A shadowy figure slunk around the edge of the property, careful to keep out of the light. Other figures followed behind him, making their way closer to the house, but keeping in the shadows. One by one, though, they each disappeared, the only proof of their existence the occasional ruffling of the grass as they made their way around the house.
A single voice laughed, in a little sing-song rhyme.
"A shadowy figure
with more in tow...
Round the house, disillusioned,
where did they go?"

Dora apparated onto the edge of her property. She was no fool, she would not pop up in the middle of a room and risk being ambushed or something worse. Her eyes were peeled for any signs of danger and she had her wand held at the ready. Slowly she crept through her still open front door. The hair on the back of her neck was on end and she had a bad feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Not knowing what she was walking into made her super nervous.
SHe knew what she was looking for and exactly where it was. Making her way to the staircase she quickly swept the lower level with her eyes. Hmm... There was certainly a mess in here, she thought to herself. Making her way quickly up the stairs, taking them two by two she reached the landing and the door she needed was just to her left.
She closed the space between herself and the door and slung the door open. it hit the wall with a THUD. Slowly walking in, wand at the ready, she went straight to Silas' telescope.

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger Night had fallen and the shadows played across the room. This clue was tricky. There was no parchment to be found. Instead, magicked onto the glass, the clue was backward. You could only read it by looking through the old muggle instrument. Quote: You've found the last clue,
just one thing left to do.
Take a look at his things,
tell me, does your heart sing?
If the answer is no,
then no further you go.
But if yes,
catch your breath.
Head to your gazebo, but don't enter.
Just keep your eyes on the center.

Dora looked for the parchment on the telescope... Well, the logical thing to do would be to look through it... right. Right.
Dora drew a deep breath and bent over and put her eye to the Muggle thingamabob and took a peek. Her breath caught in her throat as she saw the clue on the glass. Reading it slowly she then stood up straight. Looking around at her man's things she let a smile play across her lips. Of course her heart sang. Silas was her better half and he made her feel like she was worth something again.
Turning on her heel she took off out the door, down the stairs and rushed out the back door in a flash. She said, "Lumos" so she could see the way lit by her wandtip.
She eased through the path and down to the gazebo. She stopped as directed and watched the center of it.... waiting for what? She did not know.

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger The gazebo was dark, save for the bit of light from Dora's wandtip, but the center was still dark.
Without warning, faeries began to twinkle around the gazebo, much like they had during their Valentine's Day dance those many months ago. But still, the center of the gazebo remained dark.
Music began to play, then, softly. From where, it wasn't clear. Most of the yard remained dark, save for the gently twinkling of the faeries that darted around.
Then, a single bit of light grew down from the center of the gazebo roof, illuminating a small circle on a table sat in the middle of the space.
A table that held... This.

Dora took a step back as the faeries started fluttering about. "What the bloody hell is this about?" she muttered.... to the faeries or to herself. Okay... there is music and the center of the gazebo was sti...
Oh my Merlin!
Dora spotted the beautiful ring as soon as the light hit it. Surely not... why would Silas give her heart failure like this over a ring. It can't mean what she thinks it means. He is too ... "I don't plan" BLAH!
She began to feel weak in the knees as she made her way up onto the gazebo and reached out for the ring. Taking it in her hand she held it up toward the sparkling lights of the faeries and the tears began to drip down her face.
"Silas? Are you here? What is this about?" Dora croaked, still in disbelief that this could mean what she thought it meant.

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger He stood there, for a moment, invisible, resisting the urge to reach out to her until she could see him.
Tapping his wand over his head, Silas was no longer disillusioned, instead standing in front of her, smiling softly.
"Dora Lovegood, for the past year, you have been my entire world. And it hasn't always been easy, I know, but it's been good. But I've been thinking -- and I think you've noticed -- and there's something I want to ask you."
Dropping to his knee, Silas set his wand on the table with a barely noticeable flick, and a banner descended behind him. Taking her hand as she held the ring, he looked into her eyes, no longer anxious, and, though he thought he'd never be this way again, happy. "Will you marry me, Dora?"

Dora was in shock when Silas appeared in front of her. Her ring free hand went to her mouth and she felt like she may faint. This feeling was made stronger when he dropped to one knee and said the words she had wanted to hear since the day they had met.
Dora had never been so sure about anything in her life. When the sparkling banner fell she smiled through the stubborn tears that had begun to cascade down her cheeks and nodded her head.
Not sure if she could speak just yet Dora stepped a little closer and dropped to her knees if front of Silas and whispered, "What took you so long?"

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger "Was that a yes?" Silas whispered, bringing his hands up to Dora's face, smiling broadly, eyes shining as they knelt there on the floor of the gazebo.
"That was a yes, right?" He watched her expectantly, waiting to kiss her, to hold her, even to breathe, until she said the word.

Dora took a deep breath and tried to make herself be calm, but the tears still fell from her eyes. Wiping a hand across her face she said, "Of course it was a yes you silly man. I have loved you since the day we met."

| *Eating chili with Sirius* Red Ninja*Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha Alistair gripped his wife tightly as he watched the scene unfold. Silas was a good man, and if anyone deserved his daughter it would be him. He quietly whispered, “Darling, I love you.” The atmosphere was full of love. He knew Agrona was not the sensitive type, but he knew she remembered what it felt like to be young and in love.
Hearing Dora say yes made Alistair’s heart happy. Alistair was thrilled Silas asked them to come to be apart of this moment, and Dora saying yes was their cue. Turning to his wife and offering his arm he said, “Shall we?” |

Hogwarts RPG Name: Hadley Taylor Fourth Year | Canon Niffler || Neville's Yorkshire Pudding | | Teddy's Biographer || P + R = ♥ Agrona was not entirely sure about this, but Alistair had done his best in recent weeks to convince her that it would make Dora happy. She had a feeling that her husband would be overwhelmed by sentimentality, remembering when he asked her to marry him. She had said no repeatedly, they were so different and her own parents did not approve of him. She had given in eventually, on a night not unlike this one. Her suspicions where confirmed when he leaned and whispered that he loved her. Rolling her eyes slightly at how predictable her husband was she replied, "Yes dear, of course you do."
When her daughter said that yes, she would marry Silas, Agrona couldn't help but smile. She took her husband's arm and allowed him to lead her towards her daughter and would be son-in-law.

Alistair felt his wife's arm take his and approached the newly engaged couple, "Congratualtions" was all Alistair could get out. He looked from his daughter to Silas and smiled so broadly it hurt. Gripping his wife's tightly he sighed deeply and contently. He wanted to hug his daughter, but she was still in Silas' arms... that would be awkward. |

| Granddaddy Ravenclaw | | Jermione Granger Silas felt himself tearing up as she answered. He kissed her, then, and then, resting his forehead against hers, dropped his eyes to the ring she held in her hands.
Taking it, he fumbled a bit for the right finger, before sliding it on and grasping her hand.
She'd said yes. She'd. said. yes.
Which meant this was about to stop being a private moment.
But before that happened, Silas wrapped his arms around Dora's shoulders and pressed his cheek to hers, one hand on the back of her head. "Thank you for saving me," he whispered.
----- Smiling broadly when he heard Alistair's voice, he stood, taking Dora's hand. "Thank you, sir," he said, extending a hand. He was glad he'd invited them to come along. He knew Alistair was on board... but Agrona was still a wildcard.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Hadley Taylor Fourth Year | Canon Niffler || Neville's Yorkshire Pudding | | Teddy's Biographer || P + R = ♥ As Agrona got closer to the pair of lovebirds, she could see that they had both shed tears and Dora had shed the most. Agrona's smile grew; Dora was a true romantic, just like her father. Agrona permitted herself a little sigh of happiness on her daughter's behalf and as Alistair and Silas shook hands, she pulled Dora into a tight hug. "Congratulations darling." She kissed Dora on the cheek and turned to Silas. "Congratulations." She kissed him on the cheek and stood back to consider them both.
While he was making her daughter happy, then fine, she would keep her promise to Alistair and not say anything. But, just like with Alexander, were he ever to hurt her daughter, he would pay the price. No-one would be permitted to hurt the daughters of Angrona Black Lovegood.

Dora did not care what she looked like at the moment. She was only partially aware of the fact that she was wearing a plain pair of black robes and her face was blotchy and red from all of the crying she had been doing that day.
She let Silas slide the perfect ring onto her finger and she looked into his perfect eyes and sighed. She had the urge to smack him in the back of the head for making her so crazy all day. She had run in circles, blown up a mirror in a Muggle establishment and morphed in public... not a good day. But this..this was well worth every bit of it. She had not dreamed that this would be the end of theis quest she had been sent on.
She returned his hug and spoke softly, "You are the one who saved me." There was nothing more to be said and that was that.
Hearing another person or persons approach she let Silas help her to her feet and was utterly shocked when she turned around to see her parents there. Standing there a bit pie faced she allowed her mother to pull her into a rib cracking hug and nearly wept again as she congratulated her. Looking form her mum to her dad she floundered around in her head for a moment for words...
"You two sneaks! How could you keep something like this from me? I was on the verge of losing my mind today." she paused to consider them for a moment and then rushed forward to hug them both. "Thank you for giving us your blessings. You three have made me happier than I have been in all my life." she managed to croak out through the fresh waterfall running down her face.
She then walked back to Silas and took his hands in her own and looked him clear in the face before saying, "If you ever do anything like that to me again I will be forced to kill you." A tinkling little laugh burst through Dora's lips and she smiled wider than ever before and said, "But it was perfect and I love you more than you will ever know."
Parents be damned! She grabbed two fists full of Silas' shirt and pulled him near as she kissed him passionately.

| *Eating chili with Sirius* Red Ninja*Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha Alistair shook Silas' hand heartily, and then returned his daughter's embrace. As he did he whispered into her hear, “I love you Dora and I’m very proud of the woman you’ve become.” Releasing her he wrapped his arm around Agrona’s shoulders; he gave a heartily laugh when Dora threatened Silas’ life.
As Dora pulled Silas closer Alistair took this opportunity to admire the fairies he whispered, “Agrona, darling, I think I’ll go get some firewhiskey from the kitchen. Would you like to join me?” Yes he could have summoned it, but he thought leaving Dora and Silas alone for a moment would be more appropriate.
Presumably Silas and Dora would meet them in the kitchen for a toast momentarily and then Alistair and Agrona would be on their way. He took his wife's arm and lead her toward the house. |
