Alistair could see the sincerity in Silas’ eyes. “Well, that is true Silas. You are nothing like the Druery's I’ve heard of.” Alistair saw a flicker of pain and disgust in Silas’ eyes when he pleaded his case against his family. Alistair softened a little toward Silas in this moment, Alistair knew what the Druery’s were capable of – if Silas had survived that and live to tell about it he could most certainly handle Dora’s temper.

Speaking of which, Dora was letting Alistair have it. And he knew he deserved it, and let her get it all out. He knew he was prying, but sometimes parents ask stupid and nosey questions. He waited patiently as she finished. He couldn’t but smile. “Yes Dora, You’re right hon. I’m very sorry.” She breathed deeply and came closer to her, he knew this was dangerous at this moment, but he couldn’t resist. He placed his hand on her shoulder, “You know I never thought I’d say this but I wish your mum was well enough to yell at me once more.” He chuckled as he looked down at the floor, “You look just like her when you get angry. Of course you sound like her too.”

“You know, I sometimes forget you’re grown Dora.” Alistair thought it was about time for him to get going. “Silas, I think you’re a good man. And I believe my daughter picked you for a reason.”
