Background:
Dora Lovegood just recently returned to her home country after being in the US working for their Ministry. Dora is a half- blood witch with a bubbly personality but a short temper. She has recently been through a lot of ups and downs, but her co- worker, Silas, has seemed to give her a reason to stick around. Their "interaction" has started to bring out a new light in Dora.

ooc: This thread will give Dora a place to be with her friends and Silas. Dora's character will grow and learn more and more about herself.

Locations:

Dora's house: Inherited from a wizarding relative, Dora just recently renovated and moved into a new home. A sizeable home that reminds one of a farm house. The interior is just as bright as Dora's appearance and personality. Located inside the foyer is a talking mirror that gives out compliments or criticism... whichever is needed. Then you enter the large living room space where you see a ton of eclectic furniture in great colors and abstract shapes. There is a lovely fireplace, on the mantle there is a great collection of wizarding photgraphs. These photos range from her family to former co- workers from the US. The kitchen is very spacious and bright. One wall is nothing but windows, letting natural light spill in. The only room in the house that isn't bright and welcoming is Dora's "office"... well she practice's magic there and brews potions. Here are Dora's more personal photos and keepsakes. She keeps it locked away just like the memories.

The view from the foyer

There now hangs a portrait of the former lady of the house. She crossed over but felt that Silas needed her portrait to feel better... Besides, she couldn't fully leave her children or her husband so abruptly. Over time she will stop visiting the portrait, but for now she stands waiting for her loved ones to come to her. The other portrait hangs in her niece's bedroom, hung with a permanent sticking charm.

Dora's yard:

Dora has a grand yard that back's onto an enchanted forest with tons of trails and adventures to be had. Living in a Wizarding area Dora is free to fly or do whatever else she fancies outdoors. There is also a sizeable garden which Dora maintains. It is home to magical and Muggle plants alike, there are also pixies and gnomes that roam about. In the center of the garden is a lovely golden domed gazebo with a double swing that is perfect for cozying up on.

The Lake:

Dora's property is also home to a fantastic lake that is home to all sorts of magical creatures and plants. The creatures are well behaved though, so Dora swims often when the weather is nice.

The kitchen was smelling absolutely wonderful. Calla giggled at Dora's joke, she had heard the 'it's magic' line a thousand times, but still thought it was hilarious.

"Err, man in my life," Calla didn't know whether to laugh or cry, "I've actually had a boyfriend. Never really been a social butterfly." She brushed her hair out of her face, "Well, until very recently" as she nodded to Dora and June. Taking a long breath, "Not to mention, I'm pretty shy around the male species." She could feel she was blushing. "I know what I need to look for in a man though, a guy like Silas!" She chuckled. "He seems to nice, and thoughtful. Has a good head on his shoulders, knows what he wants," she paused and raised an eyebrow, "and I'm pretty sure that's you" She finished with a wink Dora's way.

"June, have you never had a bofriend? What I mean is, you not having a boyfriend, is that by choice then?"

"Yeah, we get along pretty well most of the time. It has been quite rough on both of us lately though, given the ...erm... situation.. with , uh. me." she said and then snapped her mouth shut. She blushed deeply and shook her head. What an idiot she thought. WHy had she even said anything eluding to the recent trials and tribulations? Oh well, couldn't take it back now.

She put on a smile for Calla and said, "Well, at least you can walk across a flat surface without falling down. I was picked on when I was younger due to my clumsiness and wild hair and eyes." She shrugged and then continued, "Not that ever stopped me. I am still marching to the beat of my own drummer so to say!" She then began to laugh heartily. "Besides, Calla you want to wait for the right man to come along. I lucked out with Silas. We are so opposite in so many ways but we just fit right together, you know." she added after her bout of laughter.

"Yeah June, what about you? What's going on with your life?" she asked cocking her head to the side. She didn't really know much about June and was anxious to get to know her.

"I can't walk on flat surfaces very well unless I concentrate really hard. Although at your house I seem to do pretty good." Juniper was amazed she hadn't tripped or knocked over anything yet. She thought about Calla's question, she wasn't sure how to answer it. "Well, its by choice that I'm single but, not at the same time." Juniper was at a loss on how to explain it. "I choose to be single because of how the relationship with my one and only boyfriend went. I said and did all the wrong things, it was a nightmare. Plus I'm pretty sure he was just dating me as a dare or joke one of the two." Juniper stopped talking, she never should have told them the last part. Her face flushed red and she looked down at her hands. She waited for someone to take the attention off of her.

Dora reached over and patted June on the arm and said, "It will happen for you. Probably when you least expect it."

Seeing that she was obviously embarassed by the whole conversation she quickly changed the subject to something trivial. "So, ladies...random question... What would you so is your favorite spell?" she looked at them quizically

"yea the right man," Calla twisted up her face and shrugged, yea she knew Dora was right, but sometimes it'd just be nice to have someone.

Calla put her hand on June's shoulder, "I'm sure it wasn't a joke, I'm positive it was that he was truly interested." Calla was not picking up on the fact that June was embarrassed. "You're beautiful, and there is no reason a guy wouldn't wanna be with you!" Calla was getting sorta sappy and emotional; it was the firewhiskey's fault.

Juniper gave Dora a tiny smile to show her gratitude. Calla was giving her compliments left and right, and her face went redder with each one. "Thanks Calla, your so sweet. But, all my friends told me they heard rumors, I don't doubt they were right." Juniper quickly finished her response to Calla and took off rambling to answers Dora's question. "I would have to say my favorite is one from my childhood. My mom would do this crazy spell that made my hair turn 20 different shades and go all mega curly. I have no idea what its called though, to this day she refuses to tell me how to do it. I think she doesn't think I will be able to do it right." Juniper laughed to herself remembering how she still begs her mom every chance she gets for that spell.

Favorite spell? Calla thought about it, "Well it depends on what situation you would be applying it to. Defense? Expelliarmus, or maybe Stupify." She thought about her tendecy to be lazy, "I am also a fan of Accio, I can be a little lazy" She giggled. "Oh," sitting up in her chair and throwing her hair behind her, "when we were little I used Aguamenti on my brother!" she laughed hard, and snorted.

Listening to June Calla started bouncing in her chair, "OH I"D LVOE THAT HAIR CHARM!"

"What about you?" she asked Dora

Dora laughed heartily, "That's rich! I have to say mine is Levicorpus. I loved doing it to unsuspecting cousins and friends... Well, I still do really." she said with a shifty little grin to the girls. "I guess that's why my mum and dad quit taking me around my Muggle family when I became a teenager."

"Oh you were a handful weren't you!" Calla giggled at Dora. "I imagine you're still a little devil when you wanna be, Poor Silas!" Calla giggled once more.

Dora started to giggle hysterically. "Silas has felt my wrath only once, purposefully anyway. I sent a tripping jinx after him one day at work. Poor bloke fell and broke his nose. I felt badly and repaired it for him though. I nearly blasted him out of his seat in Florean Fortescue's one evening also." she said through her laughter. "Really is a great guy to deal with my mood swings." she said thoughtfully.

Juniper laughed,"I'm sure Silas can be just as big a handful, look at all that crafty stuff he put in that tent. I bet he knows how to be very tricksey." Juniper smiled and nodded her head.

"I'm glad you found someone that compliments your personality!" Calla examined Dora as she spoke about Silas, and she seemed to be holding something back. "So, I know you were talking about changing one of the rooms into a nursery for little Selene (that’s my boss's baby June), but what about you? When you going to pop out a little one?" This was a most inappropriate statement, but Calla couldn't help it. It was the firewhiskey.

"Silas is definitely a bit tricky! He took down the portective enchantments and set all of that up while I was in the house!" Dora explained with another chuckle. "He has shown to be a great help to me lately also. I couldn't love him anymore if I tried!" she said with a thoughtful little smile.

When Calla asked about babies Dora froze for a second and then shook her head, "This thing with Silas and is more than a bit confusing at the present. We uh have some things hindering our relationship from progressing, I guess you could say." She stifled a shudder and looked away.

Juniper's eyes grew big when Calla asked Dora about a baby. She had seen the way Dora reacted when Silas was brought up, and couldn't imagine what bringing up children might do. Juniper sat in silence as Dora answered, she had question but refused to ask them. It wasn't her place to pry, she didn't know Dora well enough. She looked from Calla to Dora and back again in the silence.

Calla smiled as Dora talked about Silas. It was evident she loved him. "Well from what I understand relationships are always tricky." Calla was suddently glad she didn't have a boyfriend. "So, have ya'll talked about it? I mean the future and all?"

All of a sudden she got another whiff of the food, and her stomach growled loudly.

Ignoring the question for a moment she flourished her wand toward the food and it came across the room and started setting out on the table in front of them.

Taking a deep breath she said, "I cannot really say that we have. In the past Silas has said he is not a planner. But there is a lot going on around us right now so it's not really a good time to discuss such things. I just took care of some business from my past and me mum is very ill and Silas... well he has his own problems to deal with right now." she said and trailed off. "Eat up ladies!" she said scooping a bit spoon full of onion soup into a bowl she had summoned forward.

"So you had some skeletons in your closet?" Calla was completely unaware (firewhiskey) that she was treading on awfully thin ice. "Well, hopefully all that will get sorted out and ya'll can raise a rather large family!" Calla said cheerfully. She was oblivious that June was sitting with her jaw dropped at Calla's forward-ness.

Calla reached forward and started serving herself. As she was shoving food into her mouth she complimented Dora, "dis fud is dewishes!"

Juniper sat quiet as she scooped a little of everything onto her plate. She was not about to get in on this conversation. She took a bite, swallowed and said "This food is amazing Dora!"

"Skeletons is an understatement dear." is all Dora could say in response. SHe sighed and a pain started to burn in her chest at the memory of the most recent event.

She shook her head and said, "Thanks Calla. It really isn't much. Me mum taught me a few tricks."

She dropped her gaze and thought for a moment. Then she smiled weakly and said, "A large family is asking too much right now. I will be happy if Silas and I survive eachother." and started sipping her soup.

Dora's words, and tone finally cut through to Calla. What was she thinking diving into all this! "Umm, look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.." There was nothing Calla could say. She was ashamed of herself.

She sat in silence eating her soup for a few moment. Trying cut the tension Calla said, "I heard a joke the other day. What did the skeleton say to the vampire?," dramatic pause,"You suck!" Calla was a sucker for stupid puns.

Juniper noticed the sadness in Dora's eyes and tried hard to think of a way to change the subject. Calla seems a little tipsy, maybe if I suggest more firewhiskey she will forget about asking Dora so many questions. She thought about it for a second, she couldn't decide if it would work. Well it's worth a try isn't? And with that thought Juniper asked, "Dora, could I have some more firewhiskey? I could really use another drink, and I think Calla might need a few more too."

Setting her spoon down she immediatley agreed with June, "OH! I'd love another drink!" Calla mindlessly nodded her head.

Dora finally snapped out of her reverie and reached over for the bottle of Firewhisky. "Here you go ladies, drink up. And don't worry. No offense taken, you are just curious. I know I have been a train wreck recently. I am getting better though, thanks to Silas." she said with a weak smile. She poured herself another glass and handed the bottle to June.

Drinking deeply sher sighed and said, "I really do thank you ladies for coming over today. It has been a blast hanging out with girls again. I feel a bit cut off from the rest of the world sometimes,it feels nice to have company."

Juniper took the bottle from Dora and poured herself some. With one gulp she drank nearly the whole glass and filled her cup back up. She passed the bottle to Calla and took a bite of food. "I'm just glad I can finally call someone a friend, it's been a long time. Thank you for inviting me. So, when do we get to see the rest of your gorgeous house?"

Calla snapped the bottle from June, poured herself a glass and gulped it down. Then returned to gobbling up the food that was still remaining on her plate. "I appreciate the invite Dora!" Calla said.

Cal's mind wondered as the other two women talked.

"Hey, there any single guy's ya'll know of in the Ministry?" Calla interupted June with this completely random statement. By morning Cal would sware off firewhiskey.
