Background:
Dora Lovegood just recently returned to her home country after being in the US working for their Ministry. Dora is a half- blood witch with a bubbly personality but a short temper. She has recently been through a lot of ups and downs, but her co- worker, Silas, has seemed to give her a reason to stick around. Their "interaction" has started to bring out a new light in Dora.

ooc: This thread will give Dora a place to be with her friends and Silas. Dora's character will grow and learn more and more about herself.

Locations:

Dora's house: Inherited from a wizarding relative, Dora just recently renovated and moved into a new home. A sizeable home that reminds one of a farm house. The interior is just as bright as Dora's appearance and personality. Located inside the foyer is a talking mirror that gives out compliments or criticism... whichever is needed. Then you enter the large living room space where you see a ton of eclectic furniture in great colors and abstract shapes. There is a lovely fireplace, on the mantle there is a great collection of wizarding photgraphs. These photos range from her family to former co- workers from the US. The kitchen is very spacious and bright. One wall is nothing but windows, letting natural light spill in. The only room in the house that isn't bright and welcoming is Dora's "office"... well she practice's magic there and brews potions. Here are Dora's more personal photos and keepsakes. She keeps it locked away just like the memories.

There now hangs a portrait of the former lady of the house. She crossed over but felt that Silas needed her portrait to feel better... Besides, she couldn't fully leave her children or her husband so abruptly. Over time she will stop visiting the portrait, but for now she stands waiting for her loved ones to come to her. The other portrait hangs in her niece's bedroom, hung with a permanent sticking charm.

Dora's yard:

Dora has a grand yard that back's onto an enchanted forest with tons of trails and adventures to be had. Living in a Wizarding area Dora is free to fly or do whatever else she fancies outdoors. There is also a sizeable garden which Dora maintains. It is home to magical and Muggle plants alike, there are also pixies and gnomes that roam about. In the center of the garden is a lovely golden domed gazebo with a double swing that is perfect for cozying up on.

The Lake:

Dora's property is also home to a fantastic lake that is home to all sorts of magical creatures and plants. The creatures are well behaved though, so Dora swims often when the weather is nice.

She was smiling so much her face actually hurt. It was so nice to be accepted for who she is, faults and all, and actually be loved. It was the most normal Dora has ever felt and it made her all warm and fuzzy inside.

She hopped up and said, "Well, I believe I will order in then. Chinese okay with you? There is a great place on Diagon." Whistling loudly for Belladonna she conjured up a piece of parchment and quill and started scribbling like mad. "I am ordering a bit of everything, so it will be fine."

"you can put your things wherever you'd like. There is plenty of room for your clothes in the closet and chest of drawers. Feel free to place your books in the little library type room upstairs. Make yourself at home, Love"

Belladonna came swooping into the room and lighted upon Dora's shoulder hooting happily. She tied the parchment to her leg and sent her off out the window.

Silas smiled and planted his hands firmly on the couch to push himself up. As he made his way back over to his bags, the note he'd been owl'd from Ben fell out of his back pocket and rested on the couch cushion.

"Chinese sounds wonderful; do you have chopsticks?" Silas asked as he slung one bag over one shoulder, another across his chest and grabbed the third in his free hand.

Making his way toward the stairs, he turned back to Dora and smiled before making his way up and toward the bedrooms.

Dora smiled as she watched Silas run off to unpack his things. "Yeah, I have some somewhere, I am sure." she responded when he asked about chopsticks.

She noticed something had fallen out of his pocket. Going over to pick it up she started to call out to him. But then she glimpsed what it was. With a little squeal she ran off up the stairs after him. "Hon! This is amazing! Congratulations! We must celebrate!" she exclaimed before she nearly tackled him with a hug.

Silas was just setting his things down on the bed to unpack when he was hit from behind by an enthusiastic Dora. "Oooof. Celebrate what?" He struggled to turn around when he noticed the note in her hand. "Oh, that." He smiled. "It's no big deal." He paused when he saw the excitement on her face.

"Wellll, we could celebrate just the two of us. Lets go out to dinner tomorrow night?" Silas certainly didn't want it to be a big deal but he could tell it was something she wanted to do. He kissed her forehead and then pulled himself out of the hug to begin his unpacking.

Grabbing a stack of sweater vests from the bag, he opened a drawer and set them down gently. Maybe it would be quicker to use magic, but he really felt a need to do this by hand. Turning back to his bags, he pulled out hangers and shirts and made his way over to the closet. And then he did the same with pants. Finally, there was everything else that needed to go into a drawer and he picked it all up, rather unceremoniously and dumped it in a drawer to then arrange.

Looking up at Dora, he smiled. "Clothes done."

"Dinner it is then. My treat though!" she exclaimed. She eyed him menacingly trying to make sure he got that it was her treat. She would spoil Silas if he let her, but she could tell that he wouldn't so she'd keep it simple.

She giggled as he disentangled himself from her to do his unpacking. SHe smiled at how meticulous he was... they really were polar opposites in so many ways! Yin and Yang.

Her smile widened when he finished and she grabbed him by the hand and led him back downstairs. Belladonna and a delivery owl had just swooped into the kitchen as they entered. They were both hootingly happily and seemed very excited about having finished their delivery so swiftly. Walking over to a drawer in the kitchen she grabbed out a few Galleons and some owl nuts for the delivery owl and sent him back to Diagon Alley. Petting Belladonna and cooing at her momentarily she gave her some treats as well.

Flicking her wand toward the cabinets and then toward the food she sent the kitchen to buzzing. Plates, bowls, cups, chopsticks and spoons began whizzing into place and the food began to serve itself. Turning back to Silas she said, "Help yourself love." Then she went and plopped herself down on a stool and began to shovel food into her nouth rather messily.

Silas smiled. Yes, it would be her treat. This time.

As she pulled him away from the bedroom, his stumbled a bit, having been caught off guard. He'd have to take care of books and odds and ends later. As they headed downstairs, it was incredibly apparent that dinner had arrived. Silas selected some dumplings, noodles, rice and vegetables as magic!dinner swirled around him. This would take some getting used to. Most of his around-the-house things, Silas did without magic, so it caught him offguard when he bumped his head into a spoon that was hovering in the air trying to give him more rice.

Grabbing a pair of chopsticks, Silas settled into a chair. Popping a dumpling in his mouth, he mumbled with his mouth full. "When we have a free night, you need to let me cook dinner." That was one thing he definitely enjoyed doing. "I'm actually pretty good."

Dora stifled a giggle as a spoon plonked Silas in the head. She was too busy eating her sesame chicken and fried rice to laugh though. She felt famished.

"Oh I would love to have you cook dinner. I am not the greatest when it comes to cooking. There are only a few dishes that I am goon with. Me mum taught a bit here and there, but I was always too busy to cook until now. You can teach me." she said around the mouthful of food she was chewing. Dora hoped Silas wouldn't find her disgusting, One of her worst habits was talking with her mouth full, but only when she was at home did she use such poor manners!

She flicked her wandd toward the bar in the corner of the kitchen and summoned forward a bottle of elf- made wine. She reached out and grabbed the bottle and poured herself and Silas a glass in the already waiting goblets. "To us!" she said as she raised the silver goblet high.

Silas tried to stifle a yawn and ended up inhaling some rice instead. As he coughed, he thumped his chest with his hand a few times. Accepting the goblet, he raised it and nodded, unable to speak, to indicate that he was also toasting to them.

Swigging the wine hurriedly, Silas tried to clear the one piece of rice still tickling the back of his throat. Once it was clear, he sighed. "That's better." Looking over at Dora, he looked a little embarrassed. First night together and he'd nearly choked on dinner. "To us," he said sheepishly.

Sitting and eating at a more human pace, Silas turned the discussion to food. "I'm mostly self-taught but I did take a class once."

And there was that yawn coming again. Silas made sure to swallow all the food before it happened. "MMm. Sorry. Long day."

Dora was a bit frightened while Silas was near choking beside her. She floundered in her head for what to do but he finally stopped spluttering and she heaved a sigh of relief.

She smiled at him, a giggle pulling at her lips. She kept it stifled though, it would be rude to laugh at him! instead she picked up her goblet and drank once more trying not to blow bubbles in the wine as she exhaled her laugh into the cup.

"A Muggle cooking class I take it." she commented. Did witches and wizards even teach cooking classes? Hmmmm.... random bit of information to figure out.

She yawned right after Silas.... darn contagious yawning! She smiled and said, "No worries, Love. Why don't you head up to bed while I clean this all up? I will show you where I keep all of my stuff around the house tomorrow. You can finish putting your things away while I do this." She made a shooing motion telling him to get his behind up those stairs with no arguments.

Silas nodded when she asked about the class, drinking more wine. That tickle in the back of his throat was still there. "Yep; a co-worker was about to get married and his fiancee insisted he learn to cook. So we all went with him." Silas chuckled at the memory. "I get used to doing a lot of things the way muggles do." He paused.

"I even wash dishes by hand most times." Silas grinned.

Silas nodded at Dora's suggestion to finish unpacking and sleep. Kissing her cheek lightly, he left his bowl and chopsticks on the table and made his way upstairs.

Pausing at the top of the stairs to look down at the house, he smiled. He could definitely get used to this. As he made his way into the bedroom, he stepped out of his jeans and slipped into cotton pajama pants, sending his jeans and socks toards the hamper, one missing and landing on the floor. Taking the books out of his bag in one big stack, Silas attempted to navigate them through the hall without tipping them. Making it into the library successfully, he saw a few empty shelves and placed the books on the floor. Working from the pile, he placed the dusty tomes on the shelves one after the other.

Making his way back into the bedroom, all that was left were things for the bathroom: his toothbrush, his preferred toothpaste, hair brush, etc. Gathering them all into a pile, he shuffled into the bathroom and let most of it just rest on the counter. They could figure that out tomorrow. Brushing his teeth and then taking a swig of mouthwash, Silas headed back to the bedroom.

Remembering what side of the bed Dora had slept on following the attack, Silas slid under the covers on the others side, placing his wand on the nightstand. Leaning up against the headboard, Silas waited for Dora to come in.

Dora smiled at Silas and nodded when he spoke of the cooking class and doing Muggle things. She kissed him on the cheek and said, "I'll do the dishes around here, love. Now off to bed with you!"

Once he had left the room she flicked her wand around the room and sent the dishes to the sink, the leftovers to the fridge, and so on and so forth. She wiped down the countertops with a rag and once the surfaces were gleaming she nodded to herself and headed off to bed. With a few more casual flicks of her wand she put out all the lights and set her intruder charms back on.

She entered the bedroom to see Silas lounging in the bed. It seemed as though he was meant to be there. She blew him a quick kiss as she walked to her chest of drawers and extracted some pajamas. She gave him a quick, apologetic smile before running off to the bathroom. She showered quickly, brushed her teeth, and donned her pajamas (pink of course). She had gotten into the habit of letting her hair and face go back normal at night. She frowned slightly as she touched the scars on her face. They weren't nearly as bed as they had been, but she didn't like it. Screwing up her face she made the scars disappear.

SHe pranced out of the bathroom and dried her hair with her wand before setting down on her bedside table and climbing into bed beside Silas. She snuggled in next to him and sighed as she breathed in his scent.

As Dora prepared for bed, Silas summoned a book from the library, and after a moment or two searching for his reading glasses, flipped open to a chapter on water charms. Suddenly feeling thirsty, Silas conjured a glass and filled it with water. Taking a sip, he flipped through pages, turning down the corners on those that might prove useful at work.

Hearing the water stop and the door open, Silas closed the book and lay it on the table, placing his glasses on top of it.

As she settled in next to him, Silas shifted, his shirt sleeve bunching, exposing the scars on his upper arm. Not that she hadn't seen them before, but they'd been fighting then. He tugged it down, covering them, before kissing her temple softly.

Dora smiled up at him as his lips brushed her temple. She sighed internally and scooted down in the bed underneath the covers. Her long black hair was fanning out over her plush pillow and she stifled a yawn with the back of her hand. It was still early, but she was dog tired and obviously Silas was also.

"You don't have to put your book away on my account. I don't want to disrupt any of your typical bedtime stuff" she said with a smile. She too conjured a glass and filled it with water, taking a swig and setting it back down she smiled again. She reached her hand up and cupped the side of his face and looking deep into his eyes she said, "Silas, I love you with all of my heart and I am so glad that you are here with me now. I can't think of anything that would make me happier."

Silas smiled as Dora reached up to his face. Leaning on one elbow, he used his free hand to trace his finger down the side of her face... a face he knew was scarred but that she wouldn't show him. "It's all new routines for me," he whispered, smiling at her softly. "Thank you for having asked. I'm glad I'm here, too."

Leaning down, he kissed her softly. "I love you," he whispered, before sliding down and pulling the covers up over himself and wrapping his arms around her.

Dora shut her eyes as Silas ran his finger down her cheek and then kissed her. She slowly opened her yes and looked up at him with a huge smile on her face.

As Silas slid underneath the covers and held Dora she snuggled into his chest and breathed him in. She then reached up and ran a hand through his hair and sighed. This was just how it was supposed to be. She fit perfectly in his arms and she felt safe. Even though they were both volatile she always felt safe with Silas.

She closed her eyes and again and and rested a hand over Silas' heart.

Resting his head on the pillow, Silas' breath caught momentarily as Dora put her hand on his chest, forgetting that she already knew about the raised scar just below the fabric. Remembering, then, that not only did she know about the scar, she knew the story of the scar, Silas let that breath out as a contented sigh as he closed he eyes and rested his forehead against Dora's on the pillow.

"Goodnight," he whispered, feeling himself drift into the first contented sleep in weeks.

Dora smiled to herself in the dark of the room and rested her head against Silas' and as she drifted off she whispered, "You are my everything, Silas." With her hand still resting over his heart she went off to dream land.

As the sun peeked through the window the next morning, Silas stirred slightly, before blinking sleepily and opening his eyes. Turning, he saw Dora, sleeping soundly next to him. Giving her a light kiss on the forehead, Silas slipped out of bed, careful not to disturb her and snuck out of the room and down the stairs.

Once he was in the kitchen, Silas cast a muffliato charm so he wouldn't wake her up and set about looking for pans and eggs and bread. After some searching, he'd finally pulled together everything he would need for french toast. Whisking eggs, he heated a pan on the stove. Dipping the bread in the egg mix, he slapped it in the pan. Opting not to step away from the stove, he pulled his wand out of his pajama pocket and with a flick opened the fridge, summoned two galsses and poured some orange juice.

Giving most of his attention to the french toast, he piled piece after pice on a platter he had found earlier. Satisfied that there was enough, Silas loaded two plates, the platter, the juice glasses and a single red rose that he had conjured onto a tray and set the dirty plates in the sink to deal with later.

Dora stretched and rolled over sniffing the air. Something smelled divine, but she couldn't get herself to get out of bed. SHe flopped around trying to get comfrotable and called out to Silas, "Hey babe. Whatcha up to down there." She smiled to herself and quickly jumped up to brush her teeth before Silas came up. Morning breath was no one's friends! She ran a brush through her still black hair.

She looked in the mirror and screwed her face up and turned her hair to blonde and purple. SHe turned her head this way and that and screwed her face up once again shortening the length to a nice little bob. She smiled when she had done that and rushed back into the bedroom and literally jumped into bed.

She giggled a few times and then settled back down beneath the covers waiting on Silas.

Carrying the tray, he removed the muffliato charm and made his way to the stairs. "You just sit tight," he called up the stairs as he kept his eyes on the juice glasses, willing them to not slosh around.

As he made his way to the door of the bedroom, he looked up and smiled. He took notice of the fact that her hair was different from what it had been when he went downstairs, but didn't mention it.

Instead, he placed the tray on the side table, picked up the rose, and handed it to her as he sat on the side of the bed. "Breakfast is served."

Dora smiled brightly at her lovely man and sniffed the air again while taking the rose. She spun it around in her fingers and then smelled it too. Reaching around Silas to place it in the vase that sat empty on her bedside table. She thoguht Aguamenti and filled it with water. She snuck a kiss before sitting back and saying, "This all looks great Silas. You have served me food in bed everytime you have been here, haven't you." She looked at him thoughtfully and then reached out for a glass of juice. Of course she spilled some down her front! SHe just shrugged and said, "Oh well. It always happens."

Smiling at him she reached out for some of the delicious looking food.

"Is that so," he chuckled as he took a sip of his juice. He knew very well it was true, but he played it off. "Well, don't get tooooo used to it. Can't do this everyday." He winked at her. But he certainly would do it occassionally.

Placing some french toast on his plate, Silas sat cross-legged on the bed facing Dora. "I just wanted to show my appreciation; I know it's not easy to suddenly give up your own space to share it." Silas smiled sheepishly as he stuffed a forkful in his mouth and followed it with some juice.

Chewing her food completely and swallowing before she spoke she said, "You know full well I am clumsy oaf, Silas! But, it is very kind of you to pretend that you do not notice." She stuck out her tongue at him. She could used to be pampered like this, but it really wasn't her style. She was the giver, not the taker. Not that Silas is a taker either...

Shaking herself out of her reverie she spoke again, "I quite enjoy sharing my space with you, love. It really isn't that difficult to want to share everything with you." She shoveled another fork full of food into her mouth. Speaking with her mouth half full she said, "This is reawwy goot foodt Siwas." She swallowed it down and giggled.

She looked around the room and cocked her head to one side, "You knnow, if there are any changes or additions you'd like to make in here, feel free. I want this to be as much your space as it is mine, you know"

Silas laughed as Dora praised the food with her mouth full. "I do my best," he said shyly, taking another bite. He liked to cook for the sake of cooking and didn't really handle praise very well -- another sour point with his family. Humility was not something the Druery family tended to prize.

Silas scanned the room as he chewed his food. He didn't quite know what changes he would make. He didn't have much in the way of personal possessions, unless you counted the muggle antiques at his flat. But those were best suited to studies or library spaces. "Hmm. I don't think I'd make any changes at the moment..."

Library spaces! Suddenly a bulb went off. "Actually, that room that I put my books in? Would you mind if I decorated it some? I have somethings that I would like to have around that would probably go best in there."

Silas took another sip of juice as he hunched over his food on the bed.

Dora finished off her plate full of food too quickly and her poor little tummy was beginning to hurt. She blew out a heavy breath and pushed the plate away. She flopped back on the bed knocking her juice over. Laughing out loud she reached for her wand and cleaned it up.

"Love, you do whatever you want to the library. Build shelves floor to ceiling if you'd like. I use it very little. I do like to read, but I don't use the room much." she said. Peeking up at him she smiled. The thought of Silas putting his own touch on things around the house made Dora extremely happy. She would have to get him a gift for the library. Maybe a unique book of some sort.
