| | | Words of Witchcraft and Wizardry Words of Witchcraft and WizardryWords have power in stories, in magic, and in the way we connect with one another. In the wizarding world, a single word can unlock a door, cast a spell, reveal a truth, or change the course of a life. Words shape the very fabric of Harry Potter's world and ours as readers and fans. Words of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a discussion concept held every every two months designed to spark conversation, creativity, and connection across the Potterdom forum. During this time, we'll explore a broad, flexible theme inspired by the Harry Potter books, films, upcoming television series, and the wider wizarding world.
These themes are intentionally open-ended, allowing you to:- revisit memorable moments from the books and movies
- explore character motivations, choices, and growth
- discuss magical theory, lore, and wizarding culture
- draw connections between the wizarding world and real-life experiences
- share headcanons, reflections, and personal interpretations
- pose questions that invite others to think differently
- celebrate favourite quotes, scenes, and storylines
There are no right or wrong answers here—only thoughtful discussion, shared nostalgia, and a celebration of what makes the wizarding world meaningful to each of us. Whether you'd like to write a short reflection, analyze a pivotal scene, share a personal connection to a theme, pose a question, or even submit a thread to kickstart your own discussion, Words of Witchcraft and Wizardry is a space for conversation, curiosity, and community.
So step inside, choose your words wisely, and let the magic begin! |

| ~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ Claimed by Bits ❤️ ~ Queen of Typos ❄ Magical Mosh Pit ❄ Month: February 2026 Theme: LoveFebruary invites us to explore one of the most powerful forces in the wizarding world: love
From the fierce loyalty of friendship and the comfort of a found family, to quiet acts of care, sacrifice, and compassion, love appears in many forms throughout the Harry Potter series. It may not always be loud or romantic; sometimes it’s subtle, steadfast, and deeply transformative. There is no doubt this powerful emotion also plays a vital role in our day to day lives.
This month, your Potterdom Mods invite you to reflect on how love shows up in the wizarding world and beyond. Consider moments from the books or films, character relationships that resonate with you, or personal connections you’ve made through the magic of the series. Share as much or as little as you’d like, and we also encourage you to respond to others if something resonates!
Here are a few threads that you may use as inspiration to jumpstart your thinking: General: Love in the Wizarding World General: What is your favorite fanon ship and why? Books: Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks Books: The Love Room Movies: How well were relationships represented in the movies? TV Series: Which romantic arc are you most excited to see reimagined? | ♥s her SS family | Wifey is MINE | Naughty Niffler | ❄ Bookish & Cat-Approved ❄ | Soodley ♥ Month: March Theme: Identity
March welcomes discussion of identity as we celebrate Hogwarts House Pride.
Hogwarts houses play a very important part in the Harry Potter series, as they act as a tight-knit community for students. Through shared values, students grow among those within the same house as them. Houses serve as a kind of surrogate family while at school; they offer support, camaraderie, and help with identity formation. Houses also encourage competition through things like the Hogwarts Cup, quidditch, and gobstones.
This month, your Potterdom Mods are inviting you to discuss identity as it relates to the Hogwarts houses. Feel free to discuss any topic that relates to this theme. We can think about things like house stereotypes, what aspects of the houses could be improved on, what works about the houses. Anything that you can think of that connects to the houses.
Here are some threads that may inspire discussion: General: Should there be a fifth Hogwarts house? General: Funny House Headcanons General: What Houses would your pets be sorted into? General: Which character has the most complex identity? Books: How much do family expectations shape a witch or wizard's identity? Books: What if Harry was sorted into Slytherin? Movies: Were the characters’ House traits accurately portrayed in the movies? TV Series: Can characters grow beyond their House stereotypes? Potter Polls: Does a House truly define who you are?
