Muggle Studies Lesson One: I'm gonna mail myself to you
Ready for your first muggle studies lesson of the term? Professor Meredith Moxley is. She's arranged the space so that rows of tables are situated around the room, two chairs at each one. All tables are facing front and the arrangement has put Professor Moxley's desk, and the large floating white board just behind it, directly in your line of sight. She is, after all, the main attraction.
You'll find your professor sitting behind her desk, humming a tune to herself as she fiddles with the bright orange vest she's wearing for this occasion. The zipper in the front appears to be stuck but NO WORRIES, she's got this covered! Why don't you go find a seat and class will be getting started shortly. Oh and don't forget to check out the board! Your first assignment is already up there.

And he himself was ready for the most part. Now they just had to begin and await whatever it was that was to come. Benny could only imagine what kind of obstacles they might be coming up against. There were a few that had been briefly mentioned earlier in the lesson as to things muggle mailmen came up against on their routes.
He raised an eyebrow as Adi played along with his title, calling him sir. "Well I have to move you and that might require me to guide you from behind. Unless I pull you." The Gryffindor supposed either way could work in the long run. For now he was pushing his bestie along, his hands resting at the Hufflepuff's bubblewrap covered back and urging him down the lane.
Pop!
"Oops." One of the bubbles had been broken in the process.
Pull him? "Sounds like fun,'' Adi says cheerfully, very much enjoying himself. But then he was being pushed along the lane by Benny. "Pushing works just fine too,'' he added with a laugh as a bubble popped.
"So far so good. Everything's clear,'' the Hufflepuff commentated as he walked VERY awkwardly. "I feel like a waddling penguin, Benny. LOL. ''Puddle of mud coming up. No need to worry though, it's safely out of our path.''
Puddle of mud... it reminded him of a rock band except their name had two 'D's at the end of mud. Not so strangely, the thought of music cheered him even more. And he was glad. If he kept this up, he wouldn't be sinking into hurt and depression again.

Okay. Guess they were heading to this one, which was fine. "Just so you know, I'm not really strong," Kate admitted, getting into the lane next to Hayden. She just hoped they didn't encounter something that called for her to pick up her parcel and run. "What do you think we'll run into?" she added. She walked along with her arm on Hayden's back, pretending to be someone carrying a package.
"OF COURSE I want to be!" Duh. Duuuuh. He beamed at this new Norah girl, then stuck his fist out for an obligatory fist bump to seal the deal. Aw yeah.
Fist still extended awkwardly, he turned his head back in the direction of Moxley as she started speaking. Hm. BUBBLE wrap? Was that muggle stuff? Dima eyed it speculatively at the front of the room, then turned back to his partner. "You can wrap me up if y'want!" Yes? And that way she didn't even HAVE to trust him; he just had to trust her, which he had no trouble doing. Hufflepuff, remember? This had been a sealed deal from the moment he said 'hi'.
With that, he took Norah's hand and politely tugged her to start moving with the rest of the students.
They were READY.
Norah beamed right back at Dima and met his fist with her own, making a "Pssshhhhh" noise as she drew her hand back all explosive-y and big. Hehe fist bumps were FUN, and now it was all official so they could get down to business 'n all that.
She kept watching his fist as he turned to face the Professor. Did he want another fist bump? 'Cause she reallyreallyreally wanted another fist bump, and his fist was just HANGING there so he probably wanted one too, right? RIIIGHT? Norah stuck two fingers under his fist and whispered "Ice cream cone," just as Dima turned and started talking about wrapping things. Wha-OHH. Bubble wrap! The third year nodded and grinned at Dima, barely getting the words "Sounds awesome!" out of her mouth before he was tugging her in the other direction. That way. Cool. LET'S GO.
Norah flounced up to Professor Moxley's desk and jumped to a stop right in front, eyeing the bubble wrap with gleaming eyes. She reached over and picked out a big piece and held it up to Dima's chest. POP. Hehehe POP POP POP. The thirteen year old squished the little air thingies between her fingers with a gleeful snort at each POP! HEH. Ahem, what? Right. Wrapping. She held the end of the wrap against him and began to walk around him in a little circle. "Is this okay?" Wouldn't want to suffocate her new friend, and she WAS trustworthy, y'know. She'd fist bumped on it and everything.

Annnnd they were done. Hmm... that was a good question. Instead of answering him like a normal person, AJ threw herself down on the ground and rolled around in different directions. Because what else was expected of you when you were a bubble wrap burrito? And if this activity got real and speed was a factor... well, then she was going to be prepared.
Flat on her back, AJ looked up at Zander with a huge smile on her face and gave him a thumbs up. Did that answer his question? Now to get up. Erm, maybe she didn't think this through all the way. She didn't need help, Zander. Okay? AJ rolled to her right and then to her left until she was able to get enough momentum to roll over to her stomach and push herself up. "We got this in the bag," she said as if what just happened was another normal day in the neighborhood.
The Gryffindor nodded, though a little apprehensively. Not much she could do in a classroom? Actually... he could think of a lot of things she could do in a classroom, though, he wouldn't give her any ideas. AHEM. So yup, just smiling and nodding. Really, what he did best. The fifth year was rather relieved that she was all gung-ho about the bubble wrap because really he didn't feel like being confined in it. Had enough bad costuming experience in the past few days to make up for it. MHM. Didn't feel like he was missing out at all.

And then AJ was rolling around on the ground. Ok. Um. Well, he couldn't really expect anything less of her, could he? She was AJ. Rolling around on the floor was what she did. Apparently.... Did Adi know what he was signing up for one they became a couple because..... Rolling on the floor. That was a new one.
He watched as she struggled to get up and yeah, just about to offer her some help before she pushed herself off the ground and.... ok. Again. Ok. This was strange and he didn't know what to even say about it so he'd just stand here and continue to give her a stupid goofy grin because apparently that's what he did best. So anyways, ACTIVITY TIME YEAH?
"So uh, you want me to roll you through?" Since she enjoyed rolling around on the floor, why not take advantage of that right? There wasn't really a more efficient way about going through the lane. Or was there? He wasn't a Ravenclaw... Not like hew knew. PFT. But yeah, rolling her through the obstacles sounded like a good idea. Unless there was mud on the ground or anything, which in that case hope you're okay getting messy, AJ. You signed up to be the package. Mhm. Not Zander's fault. NOPE.

Okay good, Kate was there. Hayden couldn't be a parcel without a postwoman. She smiled at Kate before they started down the lane. She tried wobbling for a bit, but also took a few hops. The hops got her farther at a time, but she didn't feel as confident with them. She wobbled a bit when she landed on her feet and almost fell over a few times. Luckily, she had Kate there to help her.
"That's okay," Hayden said. "We can do this." She considered Kate's question. She had no idea what kinds of things they were going to run into. What had they talked about that could be a problem? Dogs? Bad Weather? Was it going to rain or something inside the classroom? Hayden really hoped not.
It didn't rain, but she did discover the first object. Hayden wasn't paying much attention to her feet because she had been just about to answer Kate's question. Instead, she stepped on a patch of ice. Hayden fell back and landed hard. She wasn't able to throw her arms out to stop herself, so she landed with on her back a thud. The wind was knocked out of her and all she was able to say was, "Oof."
"Help." She managed to look up toward Kate when she was able to breathe normally again. Hayden tried her best to get back on her feet by herself, but she couldn't. The only thing she managed to do was roll over so she was laying on her stomach but that wasn't any better. She didn't know what to do. She needed to be able to get up, and then make it through the rest of the ice without falling down again. Hayden rolled onto her back again and looked up at Kate. She was a Ravenclaw, hopefully she could think of something.
Tia smiled when Margo said she hoped the bubble wrap held out. "At least with mud, we shouldn't hear anymore," but then she held her mouth shut because the last thing she wanted was mud in her mouth. Hair she could tolerate. Hair she could wash.
Holding her head up regardless, she just let Margo do most of the work as she realized actually being the parcel was the easier of the two positions. She got to go along for the ride and she had protection for her clothing.
And then no more squelching of mud. Craning her head over her shoulder she smiled at the first year who seemed covered in mud. "Well at least we got the muddy part done with first, assuming there's no mud puddles at the end." But there could have been. "You double wrapped me, right?" Considering all the popping she hoped so.
Margo couldn't stop smiling even though she was covered in mud, this had to be the most fun class yet!!! At least one she excelled in...maybe she shouldn't be a witch after all if this was her best lesson. Let's hope there is no more mud. Other wise I'll never be clean again!" Margo said smiling, Tai looked like she had faired out alright, Margo sort of wished she would have gone with the wrapping part instead, at least then she'd be dry. "You should be alright! Bubble wrap is tough!" Margo said patting Tia on the back making a few more bubble *pop* "Oops.....probably shouldn't do that." Yeah not a good idea seeing as they had a couple more obstacles to go.
"Soooooo......... Where to next?" Margo ask, looking to see what new torture device was waiting for them.

Hearing him laugh made her laugh now. "I'm glad that you approve." she stopped doing her mummy impression as she stopped laughing to hear the Professor talk about their main activity!
After she was finished Echo looked over at Zeke. "OH.... MY...... GOODNESS! THIS IS GOING TO BE SO MUCH FUN" squealing as she tried to hobble over to the starting area. Losing her balance a little bit she thought it was best to slow down and ask for some help. "can I have your arm?? to help me walk?" she was getting so comfortable with him that she didn't even bother about asking a guy for his arm, she wasn't interested into boys yet

Yeaahhhhh... it wasn't fun. Not fun. He knew from experience... but it was okay, all of that was in the past. Wizarding kids seemed a hell of a lot nicer than muggle kids. Again, speaking from experience.

Angel chose a lane and was nice enough to ask for Janelle's opinion. "This one's good", Janelle replied. "So what do you think is the best way to get down the lane fast? Running? Rolling?" Carrying was definitely out of the question for this pair. With a sudden thought, Janelle spoke up.
"You could always roll me. If we run into an obstacle or I get dizzy, I could get up and run until we are past it.". Waddle would be more likely, as Janelle was not sure how fast she could run while wrapped. "I think we'd better decide soon and get started though." Wouldn't want to be left behind.

Was Zander a trooper, or what? He was most likely mentally judging her, but he didn't say one little thing out loud, and it was appreciated. Not that she would have been bothered if he did judge her out loud, it was the little things. His smile never faltered, and this is one of the reasons why she really liked him. Not to mention that he was helping her take her mind off of the fight she had with Adi without even being aware of it. Zander was easy to be around. No drama.
When the professor announced what the activity was they were going to be doing, AJ literally jumped up and down and looked at her partner. This was going to be soooo much fun. The professor didn't exactly say there would be winners, but in AJ's mind there was always winners and AJ was a winner. Her game face was activated.
"You can roll me, push me, pick me up, or anything that comes to mind." She was serious, and Zander had full permission to get them to win by any means necessary. "I don't care about getting dirty or any of that other girly stuff." Zander couldn't have picked a better partner. "If a dog or some other creature comes at us you can pick me up and throw me at him, and I will just bubble wrap bump him off course." Or wrestle him down to the ground like a croc. ANY MEANS NECESSARY. And when they won Zander would be getting that fist bump that he missed out on when they became partners. "Ready?" They were losing daylight.
That was easy. There was no way she was going to be the parcel unless Mister Cool Guy over here had a reasonable excuse for otherwise. "I'll be the post person," she chirped, making her way toward Professor Moxley's desk where the two boxes were.
Beverly went directly toward the bubble wrap. She's seen some of this stuff once when Kennedy moved to his new flat, and she found she enjoy popping the tiny little bubbles. Glancing at Moxley over her shoulder, making sure she was out of view, she popped a single of those little bubbles. She jumped a smidgen as her fingers pressed down on it, making that popping sound only bubble wrap makes.
Heh. Real mature.
Then she took a vest and some Sellotape and wiggled it at her partner. "Let's wrap you up." She...was excited. Get your bum over here.
Hugh was ready. Hugh was intently focused. WRAP HIM UP. He was a rapper, yo. So he didn't have any qualms with her rapping him. The pun potential was just too great.
He spread his arms out wide as if to say take-me-I'm-yours and said, "Wrap me." He was game. AND COOL.
In his head. Which was the only place where it mattered.

Stifling her amusement, Beverly stepped forward and got working. She started at his shoulders and worked her way down. Wrap, wrap, wrap him up. The Slytherin might have gotten a biiiit carried away at this bubble wrap thing. She'd occasionally pop a bubble when she didn't think the professor was watching.
It didn't take long for the bubble wrap run out and...oh....well....she probably over did it seeing as...there was a lot of bubble wrap--made him look round. But at least he'd be safe and comfy, no?
"If it's not too tight, would you mind holding that end there so I can tape it?" she asked, poking him--the wrap.

Echo was so happy that he was excited or looked as excited as she was. "so ready" and he was a total gentlemen for letting her use him to keep her balance. "thanks" she laughed as they made it slowly but surely to the starting line. "okay we can do this... im going to try to walk beside you and still use you to support me and we can see how fast we can do this" she started to take some baby steps and they were off to the races. he he he.
So far so good. "were doing great!" encouraging him. They made such a great team.

Kate kept her hand on her parcel as she hurried down the lane. It was hard keeping up with a parcel, especially when that parcel was side by side with you...with legs that could run faster than you at any given minute! Not to mention her Huffleparcel, as she was starting to call it, had started hopping. "Whoa, there," she said, trying to keep up. She hopped along, so as not to let her parcel get away from her.
She chanced a look in Hayden's direction when the older girl commented on Kate's admission of weakness. It wasn't that Kate was weak, it was just that she was a little girl who could stand to grow some. Or a lot. "Yeah. We got this," she agreed. It was suddenly getting harder to hope for an ice slide, because who could keep up with ice like this? Kate didn't have time to think on that any further. Her parcel was down for the count. Kate bent down to try and help Hayden up, when she felt the ground get slippery beneath her. "AHHHH," she said, sliding down and down and down and... Uh oh. She was sliding down the lane and away from her parcel.
"I am SO not a good postwoman!" she said with a laugh. "I'm coming, parcel!" Kate grabbed a hold to something (a person's leg?) and stopped herself from sliding. She managed to push herself up on her feet and slid her way back toward Hayden. Kate stopped before getting back into the ice then tried to think of a good way to get Hayden without getting into a mess herself. Finally, she laid down and extended her leg. "Hayden? Grab on. I think I have a plan."
"Somebody grab onto my hand!" she called out to the class. If this worked, somebody else running by could just tug Kate along, and if Hayden grabbed her leg, she'd come along, too.
She hadn't expect this...whatever way he reacted. Whenever she took the bull by the horns guys got all moody and tried to step up their manliness, but this guy was just rolling with it. Keep it up and Beverly would officially deem him cool.
Stifling her amusement, Beverly stepped forward and got working. She started at his shoulders and worked her way down. Wrap, wrap, wrap him up. The Slytherin might have gotten a biiiit carried away at this bubble wrap thing. She'd occasionally pop a bubble when she didn't think the professor was watching.
It didn't take long for the bubble wrap run out and...oh....well....she probably over did it seeing as...there was a lot of bubble wrap--made him look round. But at least he'd be safe and comfy, no?
"If it's not too tight, would you mind holding that end there so I can tape it?" she asked, poking him--the wrap.
Hugh bobbed as the Slytherin prefect went and wrapped him up, up, up. HE didn't know why but he had all this excess energy that he wanted to expel before he was constricted in whatever this was that she was wrapping him in.
Muggles had strange ways of getting things done, yo.

At least his views on it. And he was wildly logical. He didn't typically mess his vein of thinking up that much.
"Yo, I got it." He snatched that right up for her and held it so she could tape to her heart's content. Maybe some tape all around him would help too...he didn't quite trust muggle devices.

No boss vest for Dot? She smiled bravely and stood back as he put on his vest, and then Dot eagerly tucked one corner of the bubble wrap under her arm pit and tried to spin herself into a package. Very helpful.
"I'm Dot. And if we get to choose what kind of packages we are, I think I'll be a crystal vase. So don't drop me down the stairs or set me on my head, because I'm fragile and this side is up." She pointed to her red mane. Up = red part.
"Oleander is a flower, right? Like you're called after a plant? Did you smell like flowers when you were born? Or did your mom crave them when she was pregnant? Or is it just because it's kind of pretty and so are you?"
Exactly. The vest went to him. Though he didn't quite approved of how it looked on him, but he'd rather not be the package. The fifth year Slytherin did laugh as she attempted to wrap herself, so he zipped the vest and tried to help her, "Dot. I don't think crystal vases get damaged or shattered if they're placed upside down...," he started to say, wrapping her tightly, yet not too tight, and making the whole thing official with the tape, "...maybe we could try and see how that would go." But yes, she could trust him. Right.
Crystal vase all wrapped up. Instructions were given for the activity, and... well, Dot might end up upside down at one point or another. No promises made on this, sorry.
What he did not expect was the sudden questioning coming from the vase. Shame the professor didn't allow them to wrap the entire object, you know? "I am named after a plant. A very attractive, yet poisonous plant." And Dot had decided to trust him. Go figure. Winking at the girl, he smiled, "I've never asked how the name was chosen...," like, why was Lotus named Lotus, even? He could understand his name, but where on Earth did his middle name come from? Perhaps the Wisterias will be getting a few questions next holidays. Courtesy of Dot, the Slytherin crystal vase. "I'm pretty, you say?" Yes, he caught that.

"Good." She took the tape, drawing out a thin strip, and squinted at the bubble wrap critically. She could easily latch several pieces of tape like a button up jumper, or she could just wrap strips of it around him. The latter was more safe, yes.
"Don't move too much this time," she mumbled, sticking the tip of the strip onto a random place on the wrap and began circling him. Top to bottom. Circle after circle after sticky-plastic sounds, the job was done.
Stepping back she admired her work. He looked like a bubble boy...who's bubble only stopped growing around his torso making his head, arms and legs look stringy. "Can you move?"

Hayden hoped nobody would get injured in the class. It was muggle studies, so injuries weren't really expected. With this activity, though, Hayden thought a few people could expect a few bruises at the very least. Yes, she was counting herself as one of those people. Luckily Kate didn't completely fall over when she hit the ice, she just slid away from Hayden. That wasn't ideal, but she was glad her friend didn't get hurt.
"You're doing great," Hayden said with a laugh. "At least you didn't fall over." Or anything worse. Kate could definitely be doing worse, and Hayden was impressed with her composure. And quick thinking, of course. She knew she could count on the young Ravenclaw to get them out of their sticky, well icy, situation.
How was lying down going to help? Now they were both on the ground on the ice. Hayden just had to trust Kate. She knew what she was doing. Hayden grabbed her partner's leg and turned her head as much as she could in the direction of Kate's arm. Help! Somebody?

"You don't know everything about vases," Dot let herself be wrapped up tightly in the bubble wrap, and when she was tapped off, she did a wiggle to make sure she was secure. Yup. This package was not going to get damaged in transit.
At the professor's instructions, Dot tried to penguin walk toward the starting line, although she was slow enough that she could hear her partner's explanations very clearly. A poisonous and pretty plant. How very Slytherin, although she doubted that he didn't know where his name came from. That was a standard question kids asked when they were growing up. "You know you're pretty. Are you also poisonous? I think I deserve to know that."
She WAS ready to go, actually. Waddle-hop-waddle-hop. "You should carry me. Don't flirt with me, though, because I'll break your heart. I'm devastating."

Okay so things were going great, they were walking side by side and no issues were happening, she managed to move one finger and pop a dangling bubble he he he. but as soon as that happened Echo heard the "UH OH" as she looked over and saw it.. a stuffed dog... barking?? oh no was right. She stopped in her tracks. "Zeke what do we do?" she had no clue.
Did Zeke keep animal treats in his pockets? like a nice juicy t-bone steak. Echo tried to back up a bit and just ended up bumping into Zeke.. she didnt say a word though because her mind was going a mile a minute trying to figure out this situation.

He stopped when Echo stopped, but stopping when a dog was coming at you would have been a stupid move under normal circumstances. What should they do? "Uhhh... umm... kick it?" was that an option? Or .. or... "Chase it away? Bark back at it?" He had no idea. Though, he DID have an idea but he wasn't sure how well that would go down with Echo. "We could try run for it? Or if you lay down, you could roll at it?" Was that legit? He thought it was.
Zeke tried stamping his foot in the direction of the dog, but just as he went to do that, Echo stepped back and bumped into him, causing him to lose his balance and...

Butt hit floor. It was soft and spongey, but still, having butt on floor was not ideal. "You 'kay?" he asked, more concerned about her than himself.

The thirteen year old squished the little air thingies between her fingers with a gleeful snort at each POP! HEH. Ahem, what? Right. Wrapping. She held the end of the wrap against him and began to walk around him in a little circle. "Is this okay?" Wouldn't want to suffocate her new friend, and she WAS trustworthy, y'know. She'd fist bumped on it and everything.
Oh my Merlin. It was an ICE CREAM CONE. Dima nearly died of happiness right there.
Clearly, he had picked the best possible Hufflepuff. Clearly.
Giggling and whispering, "Ice cream cone," right back to Norah, he waited for her to have her fill of bubble pops before sticking his arms down by his sides, pencil-straight. The third year tried to be as patient while she wrapped him up, careful not to move too much for fear of ripping the material. Except... it was tight. How was he ever going to get OUT?
"I'm good! I'd do another ice cream cone with you, but I can't move my hands." Dima gave his fingers a wiggle inside his bubble wrap cocoon, grinning at his partner before turning back to Moxley as she dished out directions. He was gonna be ROLLED? AWESOME.
So. "Which lane d'you want to go to?"

"What would a postman do?" She considered thoughtful. "Probably walk it across, but I think sliding me sounds less dangerous for me." And she was all about NOT getting injured, so Evie agreed with his second option very un-gracefully (normal body functions were very difficult when wrapped in bubble wrap) laid down on her side. Then she looked up at Caleb expectantly and waited for her little trip across the ice patch.
“Alright bubble boy,” Puck grinned and looked at the lane ahead of them. She wanted to keep Kace in tact now didn’t she? And she didn’t want him to get dizzy and puke on another unfortunate package right.
Puck shifted wrapped her arms around Kace’s torso and tried to life him up. Ugh. Nothing. She couldn’t really pick him up too easily but there were other means weren’t there?
“Lets do this,” Puck grinned and simply placed her hand on Kace’s shoulder as she stepped toward the lane. “Alright look out package there seems to be a gate,” Puck informed the package as she walked it along. Now the gate wasn’t too tall if she could hoist the package onto the wall and then climb over herself it could work right?
She knelt down closer to the ground and crawled forward so that she could give Bubble!Kace a piggyback ride over the gate as she stood up she carefully muttered instructions to him. “Now ugh when I stand up either try and straddle the gate like it’s a broom or carefully pull yourself over it,” she instructed carefully.
As Kace was wrapped I mean there wasn't much to do besides move his feet. He felt Puck trying to pick him up but no such luck. He wasn't a featherweight like certain people he knew like Emmy. He laughed and asked, "Having no luck there." He couldn't help but chuckle. It was adorable that she tried but he knew he was heavy. Now time for the guiding part, he tried to walk but he couldn't walk normally obviously. He had to waddle like a penguin.
Waddle.....waddle....waddle.....waddle.......
Over to his lane and then as they continued to waddle they both reached a gate. Of course they did now how were they gonna do this? He saw Puck bend down and he gave her a quizzical look. Then he understood he needed to use her to jump over the gate. He smirked and caught on. "Alright let's do this.." He was prepared and he was gonna straddle like a broom.
One...two...three......
He felt Puck lift him up and he was startled because he didn't know Puck was doing it soo quickly. He instead of straddling it like a broom just rolled over the fence. He couldn't even use his hands to break the fall....
OOMMFFFHHHHHH
He made it over the fence with a hard landing but he was fine! "I am all good Puck..." he said and laughed about it.
