Default Charms 1 - Pick On Someone Your Own Size

___________________________
The classroom is set up neatly, with three rows of desks and chairs and two aisle allowing for ease when the Professor has to move around. It's not likely to happen given his inclination towards a more stationary position but there you have it.

The door stands wide open for everyone to pour in with a clock on the far wall directly opposite this door for those who would like to make a note of the time they got there. It's also for those who happen to be late. The Professor surely won't have to tell you if you can see it for yourself.

For the most part, nothing seems out of place. The board is empty and ready for any notes that you may need to take during the lesson and the windows have been opened wide creating a brighter effect in order to provide a gentler waker upper than the one the Professor could ever personally offer to those who still haven't quite left their beds in their own minds. The only thing missing would be the Professor himself. The man is nowhere to be seen, however there's a black cat curled up on a random desk, possibly lost to the world in sleep. Come on in. The Professor is around here somewhere.
The cat can be on anyone's desk, you can just claim it is at the top of your post if you so want. It's probably really friendly! Just be sure you read the rules before posting in this lesson. I'll be officially starting in maybe 10-12 hrs?

Admit it, this new Professor was an eye candy. Not to mention that he's an animagus too. Usually this kind of Professor had a more fun way to teach his lesson become more interesting but when it came to exam, he's not very generous to give the grade. Well, let's see. Somehow this Professor reminded her to Gary because of the way he ate apple.

Grabbing the name tag, Bianca wrote her name and stuck it on her uniform

What do you do when you find yourself being attacked by something bigger than you?

Well, when she was still little she had Gary and/or Bryan who would always protected her from the bully since she was a tiny little girl. But now? She could fight for herself. "Maybe I tried to fight them back or... scream for help if fighting back was too dangerous." She answered as she raised her hand. She would definitely scream for help.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

So it wasn't her cat. Cool, could he have it then? The Gryffindor reached out with his hands to pick the cat up and walk away but it moved to the front desk and he felt too lazy to go after it. Instead, he sat down the moment Aegis past by him and he grinned slightly. He kinda liked that guy as well but he was never going to admit that of course. "Facial Fur" he greeted back and turned around when another voice spoke to him.

Cinna............ In a heartbeat, his cheeks flushed a bright red color again and instead of saying anything he simply wrote down his name on a piece of parchment while ignoring her. WHY was this always happening around her?! And WHY did he always remember that dreadful love potion from last term? just no.

Apart from almost everyone else's shocked reacting to the cat being the Professor once he transfigurated himself back to human form, Kevin was actually LAUGHING the moment he did. "NO WAY! NONONO!" He shouted through his laughing because this was all too good to be true. "You chose a CAT as an Animagus Form?!" okay, okaaay he was calm! He took a deep breath in and then bursted out laughing again because obviously the Gryffindor had a inside joke at the moment. "What? They called you 'scaredy cat' all the time you figured you'd just BE one for real?" Yes he was totally talking about him being SCARED to bungeejump from the Gryffindor tower.

Professor whatever-your-name-is , you are officialy on Kevin's target list. Congratulations. But to answer the question, the boy simply leaned back in his chair, rocking it on two legs as he did so. "Just go head on" he answered without a moment thinking. "If someone wants a fight no matter how big they are , they get a fight. Oh and you know what they say, the bigger the opponent the harder he falls down" griiiiin. He then set up the name tag he had made earlier and went back to rocking his chair.

Man, this cat was super soft. AJ was more of a dog person, but that didn't mean she couldn't be a cat person as well. They were much cooler to pet if you asked her. The older girl confirmed that the feline didn't belong to her. Weird. It didn't seem to belong to anybody. Could she have it?

Before her very eyes the cat went from having four legs to two. And, and, it was the handsome professor. She knew he was a professor despite him trying to convince them otherwise in her common room. "That was bloody brillant. Can you teach me how to turn into a unicorn part time?" Totally wasn't a weird thing to ask. "After class of course." She did have manners and knew that interrupting lesson time would do her any favors in the turning into a unicorn department.

Right, well... she needed to take a seat. It was then that she noticed Adi, Benny, and Angel. They all got smiles and she plopped down next to her boyfriend. The first question asked was pretty easy. AJ raised her hand. "I wouldn't back down. I would use any means necessary. I would punch, kick, scratch, stomp toes and whatever else was needed. Besides being lower to the ground has its advantages. You could weave around him without any problems and bite ankles if need be." Was a different answer expected from her?

OOoo!!! Class had begun this was going to be so much fun! Margo couldn't wait!! And wait WHAT??? Did that cat just become their teacher? Could that really happen!!! Holy Hippogriffs, that was the most awesome thing she had ever seen. Taking her name tag hat was handed out. She took her quill out and wrote Margo Holiday on her tag. She really didn't expect the Professor to remember all the students names, that was almost impossible but anything she could do to help would be great.

And then he asked about bigger and scarier things right? Raising her hand high so she wasn't breaking any rules Margo said. "I run away frankly" She added, thinking of all the BIG lakes and ponds that scared her to death. She ran away, if she was just being honest. That was another reason she was ready to be a witch. So she could stop running away when things scared her.

Granted, it wasn't locked locked, and late comers could still shove it open if they wanted to enter but he didn't want them getting the idea that they were early and welcomed.

Ahem. With that taken care of, Maddox made his way back to the front of the room, introducing himself as he did. "Good morning, glad you all managed to make it on time with no complaints about getting lost on the way." If they'd been lost, they certainly hadn't said and he was glad for that. The man wasn't here to listen to their problems. That required some deep digging for a sympathy tree and Merlin knew those were a lot of effort to grow. "Most of you don't know, but I am Professor Quigley and I'll be taking over the responsibility of teaching you lot Charms." The chalk got busy, writing his name at a moderate size on the board even as he spoke. "These are for you." He said sending name tags floating down to each desk. "I'll need you to write your names on them then stick it to your uniforms."

He'd learn the names...eventually...at some point...you know how it is.

While they were at that, he leaned leisurely against his desk and reached for one of his apples. Crunch. Mmm, this was real juicy. "I'd also like that thank those of you who got me apples. They're much appreciated." Which reminded him; selfish Hufflepuffs. "I trust the others of you with apples also meant them for me?" He might have been giving a somewhat pointed look but really, really, it was either that or they were breaking rules.

"Now then, before we get into the lesson, I have one simple question to ask." Ridiculously simple. "What do you do when you find yourself being attacked by something bigger than you?" Anyone could answer it; didn't even need a text book.

Class has officially begun, please do not post your charrie arriving after this point unless you're prepared for the IC consequences ^^ I'll post again in maybe another 10-12 hrs

Nicole was reading her textbook while waiting for the lesson to officially begin. She did not mind the black cat being in the classroom, but if she knew they could bring pets to lessons, she might have brought her cat Diamond here to accompany her too. She glanced at the cat as it finally went towards the door, probably about to go out. However, the girl was surprised to see the Charms professor standing at the exact place where the cat was a moment ago. He could turn into a cat at will - what was the word again? - and that was cool.

Professor Quigley. She tried to memorize the professor's name, which did not take a lot of time. He had an interesting name. Nicole picked up the name tag that floated down to her desk and wrote her name on it before sticking it carelessly onto her uniform.

She did not bring an apple to class. She broke a rule, and it was her first ever lesson at Hogwarts! The second year was glad the professor was not mad at the people who did not bring apples, but he seemed disappointed. Or so she thought. She took a mental note to always bring an apple to Charms lessons.

"I would try to defend myself - either with my wand, or the muggle way," Nicole answered. Note how she said 'try to'; if her attempt failed, she would proceed to plan B - run.

Maddox had spent the night planning the lesson for today because procrastination might have gotten the better of him over the weekend and now he was exhausted. If he'd remembered the class was set for 9 he'd have gone to bed with plans to wing it. That wasn't the case though so there he was, napping under the illusion the children would spend the entire day in the Great Hall and they would show up when he was well rested.

It wasn't clear how long he'd been curled on on the desk sleeping before he heard what could have been footsteps. Lazily he opened his eyes but barely lifted his head except to glance at the clock. Eh, there was still time and the kid wasn't complaining so he'd just...stay curled up like this. Nothing to see here, just a ca--

Ooohh! What was that? Large, yellow eyes followed the boy up to his desk in the highest hopes that someone had taken him seriously with the apple sentiment but after he placed it there then took a seat Maddox's hope fell a little. Apples...but candy apples...still....apples. Alright, they'd do! He made a note of this one before turning his head and trying to go back to sleep. 5 points should do it.

Sleep though, didn't come as easy as it had at first with yet another student walking in. This one actually took a seat closer to him. "Meow." Something like 'hello' but if the students kept pouring in he might actually have to go back to being a man and wait out the rest of the time with them. So much for napping til 9.

Not even a glance in his direction? Maddox would be offended--and probably was--until he remembered he wasn't looking much like himself at the moment. It was to be expected he supposed and he wasn't in the mood to do something about it so...

Oh look, the little Ravenclaw Dima Toussaint showed up to class. He'd never expected to see this one again save for those coincidental moments where run ins happened around the castle, and even then he suspected the boy might just keep walking as if he didn't know him. Fancy seeing him slump into a seat at the back.

He was staring and Maddox stared back with his own large pair of yellow eyes. 'Sup?

And the bully that tried to get him through the Gryffindor window that first night. Ah the memories. Not particularly fond memories grant you but yes, he remembered this one well. But no, he was not her cat. He wasn't a cat to be owned--well he was a cat but not an actual, true, born this way cat, so yeah, no owning thanks.

Mr. Barrington. That reminded him he still needed to change the kid's name in his attendance register. What was the name he'd chosen again? Nigel was it? Yes, yes he remembered but made no moves to acknowledge the boy. No need, he doubted the Ravenclaw spoke cat.

Ha. Haha. Kid was gonna try greeting him. That was funny and awfully polite of him given the empty desk up from. The Professor watched from the desk he was curled up on as this one entered the room too. Sad to say, he was yet another who had not bothered to bring a apple. Shame that.

Why....was he looking at him like that...? It was just a bit of black fur....all over him and in truth his tail had been one of his more endearing features next to his large yellow eyes so...what was this kid's deal? Maddox watched him and watched a little more before another student entering caught his attention.

The sad truth of it all was probably that these students were apple haters. Not one, not a single one save the candy earlier? Maddox didn't look at this one for very long, instead he curled up again preferring to enjoy his last few minutes of rest before he had to start the lesson.

Why yes, he was a nice cat thank you very much and despite not being an actual cat, he would be taking this for a compliment. It was the fur wasn't it? He liked to keep it thick and glistening if he could. You know, it added to the appeal.

So nice of him to notice!

Was it just him or was the area around him getting crowded? The girl who sat in the next seat was attracting company faster than he was prepared for and soon there was one sitting at the actual desk he'd fallen asleep on just moments ago. Eh, did this mean he had to move? "Meow." Because she'd said 'hi'. It was only polite.

Eventually though, he would have to get up and get the lesson started but for now, he supposed he could enjoy the ear rub. Might as well.

Maddox gave a little yawn as he watched this next one enter. It didn't bother him too much that the kid didn't acknowledge him because he'd just gotten an ear rub and those kinda made everything better.

Hold the snitch.

Maddox heaved himself into an upright position, large yellow eyes following the young Ravenclaw who was making his way to his desk. Was that...could it be? An apple. Well at least someone had the common decency about them. Tail flicking from side to side, he was tempted to head to his own desk and grab the treat but he opted not to. Note was made however and this one could have 5 points as well.

Bless his little giver's heart.

Having an apple now at his desk, Maddox wasn't too bothered by the fact that the next boy to enter hadn't bothered to take one with him. It was fine, all fine. No complaints here. A glance up at the clock said it was almost time to begin but by now he was sure that nap was a lost cause.

Talk about being ready for the lesson. By now Maddox had slipped back down into a curled position but his eyes landed on this one briefly and caught her getting ready for the class to start. It was nice knowing some came fully prepared to learn, even if it reminded him that he'd have to get up and do that teaching thing in a bit.

Eh.

O_O

Merlin, don't be dead. Maddox's ears pricked to attention as the young Hufflepuff nearly made her face acquainted with the floor. Luckily she hadn't actually fallen otherwise he'd have to take human form again and do that considerate Professor thing. If you asked him, it was much too early for that.

Ohhhh!! An apple! The second one of the day!!! He might have been grinning if he could but alas, it wasn't possible at the moment but she did get a rather cheerful "Meow!" And 5 points, she could have that too.

Large yellow eyes fixed on the next student to enter and take a seat. It was just...rather curious. Here he was curled up on a desk (apparently drawing attention), what could she possibly have to write at the moment? There weren't any notes.

Must have been a Ravenclaw thing. Maddox had never been one to understand that bunch.

Deciding a sufficient number of students had entered the class, Maddox was about to get off the desk, honestly he was but then another showed up meow-ing at him and petting his head and suddenly moving seemed like a lot more effort.

It would have to happen though. 9 am was drawing closer.

And another with a seeming lack of coordination. Oh joy. Between him and the Hufflepuff, Maddox might actually have had to play an active part in this lesson--though he shouldn't have to. The rules spoke against such things afterall.

Real smooth, kid, real smooth. He turned his head away, pretending to be more fixated with his paw. Not a witness, even if the kid did survive the fall.

This one was giving him strange looks too. Right then. Had he never seen a cat on a desk before? Was this REALLY such a strange sight? Students these days, Merlin.

The dwindling hope he had in the boy was rebuilt however when he TOO put an apple on the desk. Ah yes, this was getting better and better. 5 points to you too good sir.

Being preoccupied with the apples now on his desk, Maddox almost didn't notice the appearance of this next one--not until her face was practically in his face forcing him into a sitting position as he tried creating some distance. The ear scratching was appreciated but some space would be nice.

The man was starting to rethink having decided to take that nap. It was starting to get out of hand and in all that, he hadn't been able to rest. Not much anyway.

Ah, the girl with the overactive imagination from the lion welcome party. He watched her for only the smallest of moments before taking another glance at the clock. Sigh. The time was drawing nearer.

Another apple! This was a complete win for him and if he was being honest which rarely happened it was more apples than he'd been expecting but...but...why wasn't she putting it on his desk like the others....?

Surely she hadn't brought the apple for herself because he had strict rules about food in his class that also bordered a bit on hypocritical but no one needed to know that.

His big yellow eyes stayed locked on the apple. He was taking it regardless and if it really was for him then she could have 5 points too.

This was new, a change from the red apples he'd been getting since morning. A welcomed change sure but all apples were good apples in his eyes and this little Ravenclaw also earned herself an easy 5 points.

Scoff.

Yet another selfish little Hufflepuff deciding to keep the apple for herself. If he'd known they were gonna take them to class to eat for themselves, he'd have put the food rule in bold and removed the one about apples. His little head tilted to the side as he watched her take a seat with the apple before turning to his desk again. THAT was where it belonged, not on HER desk. Did he have to spell it out for them??

In the event it was his, he would be taking it and she could have 5 points but if it wasn't his...he'd be taking it and she'd get nothing. Either way, he won.

If he could be bothered, Maddox might have crawled off the desk to go see what fascinated this boy so much on his wand. Surely it must have been something absolutely eye catching, why else would the boy sit there standing at the piece of wood? It made perfect sense. Maybe he's ask him about it.

Left right left right.

Maddox watched from the desk as the boy tossed the apple from one hand to the next over and over. Was he taunting him? Was that it? Bring an apple but keep it? Must have been a Hufflepuff thing. They were the only ones that brought apples but kept them on their person instead of placing them on his desk. Probably planning to take a bit when they thought he wasn't looking, huh?

Mean. He didn't mention liking apples so they could have them. No matter. The Professor would take it anyway...once he was back in a form that actually had opposable thumbs. It wouldn't be so bad. He'd give him 5 points for the gesture, even if it wasn't intended for him.

Pet pet pet.

If he wasn't careful, he'd get used to this then the class would never start. It was possible he would have to haul himself up now, just to prevent more students from giving him reason to stay like this. Just...why was the floor so far away...?

Eh.

Okay, okay seriously he was going to get up. There might have only been 5 minutes left before the clock struck the hour and this seemed like a good enough time to start stirring. As Maddox uncurled he watched another student enter the room. This one didn't seem taken by the happenings of her classmates. There was something new for you.

He couldn't honestly say he was disappointed when the stream of apples seemed to stop pouring in. It'd been a fair amount of them that had taken his preferences into account and good on them. At current he supposed he could be satisfied with the ones presented...though more apples couldn't hurt, surely not.

He stretched, the fur bristling on his back as he worked out the little discomfort he felt. He needed to begin his lesson.

Maddox paused mid-stretch as he felt another hand. Oh? More students? Merlin he definitely needed to get a crack on things now. It looked just about like they were getting to the full amount of students which meant he didn't have to wait much longer and in that same respect, they shouldn't have had to wait any longer.

Uh-huh...so it was a Hufflepuff thing!! Could he throw them all in detention? Was taunting a Professor actually in the rule book? If not he had no problem saying it was anyway because this was unacceptable. Yet another student to have brought an apple but having it not placed at his desk with the others he was only left to assume it wasn't meant for him and that simply wouldn't do.

Not at all. Yet another apple he would be confiscating and another student who would be receiving 5 points.

This kid...made choosing a seat look like rocket science, he'd give him that. Just as he was about to hop from the desk he caught sight of the Lion Prefect mid-decision on a seating arrangement that worked for him. Did it really matter? They wouldn't be sitting for very long, in fact the chairs and desks would be gone soon.

These students weren't making it very easy for him. It seemed like every other second there was another that thought he was just SO irresistibly adorable that they had to pet him and as much as the gesture could be appreciated on the feline level, he had to class to start and needed to stop being distracted otherwise they'd never get anywhere.

With his resolve fully strengthened and this other student walking into the room, Maddox finally hopped off the desk he'd been sleeping on. Not a moment too soon either as it seemed that 9 am had approached and he was now obligated to educate this lot.

Not a fan of cats huh? Maddox watched one of the younger students put as much distance between them. Must have been like the 'Claw Prefect and that Gryffindor boy with their suspicious looks. Cat haters maybe? Or dead scared. Who could really tell what was going through the mind of a student these days?

If the class had been a bit nosier, Maddox may not have noticed but as it were, the bag and its loud thud were clearly registered and had his big yellow eyes darting over to the boy. It was probably the string of apologies that came pouring out after that saved this one. Honestly.

That.looked.painful? Would she be doing that the entire time? He...didn't want her passing out from brain damage on his watch because then he'd have to do something about it and...eh...he really didn't want to. Nope.

While she...had fun at her desk Maddox pretended to be occupied with something else. Anything else. He just didn't want to be a witness.

Just when he thought the class traffic had ground to a halt, there was yet another student making his way inside. Still early..or, according to the clock on time so all was good and he could have a seat while the Professor made himself more presentable for teaching.

Stare.

Was that some kind of enthusiasm for the class? He couldn't tell but this one reminded him of Meredith. You know it was bad when the Professor...cat...cat Professor got exhausted just LOOKING at you and he still had a whole lesson to teach! It was gonna be a long morning.

After watching the over enthusiastic one enter, this next guy looked close to not wanting to be there at all. It wasn't necessarily the case, as he knew, but when you had the energizer bunny, everyone else just looked back. Not your fault kid, blame the Gryffindor ahead of you.

This one reminded him of why it wasn't a good idea to fall asleep in the classroom in the first place. Students would enter and get the wrong idea. This Slytherin had the wrong idea. Maddox had never really thought to ban pets...but he never thought to allow them either and it was a discussion he wasn't prepared to open so best he get out of this cat form before the questions got louder and more widespread.

If cats could squint, he would be completely squinting at this Hufflepuff too. Every single person who'd brought an apple but kept it themselves was a part of that yellow house. Did this mean they didn't want the 5 points? He wouldn't give it if she planned to keep the apple instead of placing it with the others and if she wouldn't give it up and all, he'd take it anyway.

No food allowed, none, not unless it was for him. Perhaps he should have scribbled that part at the end. The nerve of some people and a Prefect nonetheless.

As it turned out, the tiny people might have been harder to keep up with than his apples. No sooner than he'd spotted one, there was another making her way in looking as curious as the others. Must have been looking for him. Note to self, no more naps before the lesson. It simply didn't work out.

Another tiny person. How many did that make now? Huh, he must have lost count. Surely you couldn't expect him to keep up with the amount of apples he got AND the amount of First Years at the same time. It simply couldn't be done.

And that looked like the last of the students. Yup. Could have been and even if it wasn't the hour had struck and he needed to get this show on the road, otherwise they'd never get anything done and before you know it, they'd all be saying it was HIS fault. Not the case, never the case. Ever.

Now that he'd made up his mind, he darted to the back of the room where the door stood open. Class was about to begin so...in one fluid movement, the cat stretched and grew and changed until it took on the form of a man. Now back to normal, the Professor gave another lazy stretch and a small yawn before he shut the door with a soft click. Granted, it wasn't locked locked, and late comers could still shove it open if they wanted to enter but he didn't want them getting the idea that they were early and welcomed.

And a Dot was a different story. She raised her hand. "Scream. Scream and probably die, unfortunately."

Gabriel had hardly noticed when someone took a seat beside him because...THAT CAT WAS STARING HIM DOWN. It was hard to start his notes with those CREEPY yellow eyes on him.

Annnnd, someone was speaking in his direction. Eeeeeh. He didn't want to take his eyes off the thing. What if it got closer when he wasn't looking? What if he needed to back away and missed his chance?

........"........No, one is quite enough."....Thanks.

Of course, when the cat turned into a human, Gabe quickly straightened up in his seat, blinking. Well, that was okay, then. Fear partially abated. Uh, so....about his notes. Mhm...He was just going to start those, now...

Charms Lesson 1: ??
Cat into human

What should one do when attacked by someone bigger?
Run.

As for verbally offering an answer, no. Gabe wasn't really....feeling too talkative today. New professor...and being unfamiliar with him...There was some warming up that he had to do first.

It wasn't as if it was forever ago that they met. And did he just get all flushed over being prefect for the first time ... "Socute," she muttered. "I mean, being prefect for the first time. Uh ...

And just like that, Tia caught the cat dart off of her housemate Evie's desk and with one motion was transformed into the handsome man she recalled from the feast. Only he was much more dreamy in the lesson than at the feast and Tia wondered two things: 1) was this really charms or transfiguration because animagi 2) how old was Quigley? 3) Such a fluid transformation ... she was memorized and Tia hadn't been sure if it was by his charming good looks the appeal of the cat to man transformation.

She nearly missed the talk on apples just stared around the room. Suck ups. The rules stated no food and said nothing about bringing apples for the professor, which was why she had not brought one for him. Besides, delivering an apple outside the lesson would make a much better lasting impression.

Catching one of the name tags as it floated near her, Tia scribbled her name with two little hearts following the name and stuck it to her robes obediently.

First question. After taking a moment to consider it while her peers answered around her, the fourth year then raised her hand. "Well, Professor Quigley, it all depends on what the something is, if you are alone, stranded, if you have any resources you could use such as a wand or a book. There's other factors that one must consider besides size of the attacker. The who the attacker is, the what do you have, the where are you located, and so on..."

It took Norah a good amount of gaping before she finally kind of ish came accept that their PROFESSOR was a CAT. It took even MORE time for the thirteen year old to squelch the urge to run up and snuggle with it, 'cause that'd just be weird. BUT IT WAS SO FLUFFY. Phew. All good. She was all good.

Okay so. Not snuggle time, question time. What should she do if the attacker is bigger than her? EVERYONE was bigger than her. EXPERIENCE, she had it! Well, kind of. It wasn't that hard to figure out, anyway. Norah raised her hand and answered, "You've got to use their size against them to win, 'cause being little can be in your favor too." Did everybody HEAR that? Being little could be in your favor. So there. Didn't stop her from wanting to grow but at least she could do things. "Like if they're bigger they probably weigh more, and you can use it against them to make them fall down. Or something..." That was probably not magical, but maybe it was. Who knew.

*sappysapper* MAJNOO, YO!

Noel actually really really liked the fact that the professor was the cat. It was such a sneaky and lazy way to live your life.

Grabbing the floating tag, Noel scribbled down his name: 'Noel Wallace' and sticking it to his robes. The teachers made them do this a lot.

As for as the question, Noel thought for a minute before raising his hand and answering with a shrug: "You make yourself bigger" They were magic folk, they could do that right?

It was not often that Abbi remained well behaved in class, or even paid attention but she had promised her mother that this year she would *really* try. Even though she'd said that many times before....

She could totally do it, okay?

HELLO EYE CANDY. Her eyes were looking among the new students within the class. She liked what she saw and as for that kitty, really ador----- oh hellooo. A grin formed on her place, because what was better than a not-so-bad-looking teacher? This was going to instantly be an interesting lesson.

What was he saying uh?OH. Name tags, she waited till she got one then did as instructed and wrote 'Abigail Campbell' and stuck it on the left-front of her robe, just on top of where her heart was.

She then listened to his question and at once raised her hand and waited her turn. "Professor, I believe that dynamite comes in small packages. So simply I'd just show it what dynamite can do and blow it up to pieces?" Show it who was boss. DUH. That's what you had to do with any situation like that. Or was he looking for a more charming answer, considering this was charms. Punny..or just lame. Either way in that case, she assumed you could charm it to be either smaller or even powerless in some way, like what those kids were saying about shrinking it and that immobolus charm.

Let your light shine || Be the sun || You're important. Always.

Cat. Professor. Professor. Cat.

Chance should have known. It WAS Hogwarts of course.

Grinning, he looked at the reactions across the room. A lot were in awe. Some had never seen a human transform. But, hey, even if you were muggle, you'd not be in this much awe. Because seriously, who HASNT seen the Harry Potter movies? McGongall did the same thing! Pfft. Professor, you sir, are NOT impressive.

Pfft.

Ok maybe it was a tiny bit impressive but Chance was being a jealous fifth year. There was no talk of him being hot, but rather, this professor. He just could not have that.

Listening to the instructions, Chance wrote down his name in his chicken scratch handwriting and mumbled an answer incoherently. "Stun them with my insanely good looks to distract them, and then 'stupify' them." Easy. Simple. He wins. He wins Professor!!

Who Am I? Ern's 2460FUN

Hugh appreciated the variation of answers that were restricted to running. Seemed like everyone had some brains in their heads after all. Logically, that was the only thing TO DO. Engaging in something bigger than yourself most likely would end in death or some variation of maming. No one liked maming, yo.

That's nasty.

Though, since they all had magic, he figured a SMARTER course of action, had they all been of age when the said attack occurred, would have been apparating. Ahhh Magic.

He didn't say that, anyway. His mind, now, was too preoccupied with the logistics of his answer to even get it out.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

He would give them (those that needed it really) a moment to get settled after his little stunt. Poor cHoice of words really considering it hadn't been his intention to have to transform infront of them but there you had it. Perhaps for the best too. Students were nosy and he couldn't be bothered with hiding things this simple. There wasn't really a point.

A reasonable response he would grant her. Defending yourself was one of two natural instincts that most beings possessed. Fight or flight he believe it was called. "Thank you Miss Lynch," See? Name tags already coming in handy, "however I was looking for something a little more specific in response but yes, defense is advised otherwise you could end up on the wrong side of that death chamber they keep down in the Ministry." Nothing? Really Mister Toussaint? They would be playing the silent game it seemed. Maddox scowled slightly at that but wouldn't be pushing it. If he didn't want to talk, it was no skin off his back. The important thing was that he left the class alive after they were done. Surely the boy was competent enough for that and if not, plenty of other students to help so he wasn't worried.

"What I normally do is get to higher ground, get an advantage, climb a tree, or a dumpster thing, or... yeah, and then you can do the whole jump attack thing!" He'd done it before, though, granted, it hadn't worked for him. All it did was hurt his wrists where he landed and then there was all the scrapes which he would have gotten anyway. Still, in THEORY, it was grand.

Blink, blink.

"....And...that actually worked for you...?" Maddox had seen that type of action...in movies...where they had stunt doubles and occasionally he'd seen it at Hogwarts when he went here but not usually with the desired results. In any case, this one right here...obviously had a lot of energy he needed to burn off so...all the power to you kid. "Thank you for the input though, Mister Rogers." Huh, maybe that's what he should have had him doing this lesson.

The words fit the robe, he'd admit that much. "Clever." Even if it wouldn't exactly help later on in the lesson. "Some place it has no hope of following. I do wonder though, how would you get out after if it decides it's content to sit and wait you out?" Simple. He never said he was by himself

This kid needed to make up his mind. Maddox got that he didn't appreciate the name his mother dropped on him but he couldn't keep switching, that was bound to bring an identity crisis about; one the Professor would rather not have to deal with thanks. "Professor Quigley." He corrected simply. It was right there on the board. There were a couple letters that fell after the 'Q' and they made a name if you said them all together.

His answer too matched his robe. "Of course you would. Naturally." He muttered while he scanned the list. With everyone already writing their names on tags and him taking note, the only available left was Dante Barrington. So that was it. Not anymore. Maddox crossed it out and wrote the name from the tag.

Ohh. Weird question but Adi raised his hand. "Panic but at the same time try to remain calm enough to think of a way to keep it away from you... or to defeat it." Well, yeah! Who wouldn't panic?

For a moment, the Professor simply stared at this one, head tilted and expression curious. "Tell me, Mister Rehman," He said after another moment of staring in slight confusion. "Failing that, I'd run and hide. I'm a pro at finding good hiding spaces," the Hufflepuff added, and finally lowered his hand, giving a firm nod. Yep. Solid plan from this kid.

The gesture of this other apple had him smiling as he levitated it to his desk as well. "Thank you Mister Tempus." Name tags were proving to be a life saver.

As for talking it down, the Professor tilted his head from one side to the other in silent contemplation before nodding. "Yes, this has proven useful before depending on the attacker. Words can sometimes be a man's most powerful weapon....unless it's maybe a rabid chimaera in which case by all means run." "Thank you Miss Rawley." And another apple levitated to join the others. Kinda had him wondering why they'd held on to them if they were meant for him anyway but that was another question for another time.

Look how attentive this one was! Clearly he was already doing a good job, clearly and he felt darn good about it after that little fiasco earlier where he'd accidentally overslept and had the students walk in on him. Another overly attentive one. These students weren't half bad at making him feel like he was doing something right. Much better than having them all dozing off to sleep before they could get very far and he appreciated it. The kicking and punching though. He quite liked his teeth. They looked pretty good on him.

Another one that felt talking it out might have been there best hope. Well, they can't all be fighters. "Teeth are important, I'll give you that. I suggest strengthening charms in the event the altercation then discussion don't go exactly as you hope it would." She was a Ravenclaw, and apparently Ravenclaws were supposed to be able to use their wits, so whatever she did, she just hoped that it would be something smart. This was much more interesting to think about than cats and what the professor did when he was a cat. Wait, was this lesson going to involve being attacked by something big? Because when it was part of a class activity, what she would do if she was attacked usually involved crying or hiding in the corner.

This one...Miss Wright...talked a lot.

The Professor watched her ramble on for a bit, pausing as she ended just in case she decided she had more to add but when it seemed she was truly done, he gave his input. "Immobilizing is a good tactic yes. It helps if your attacker can no longer attack. Very good Miss Wright."

Then I'd immobilize them with 'Immobulus' or if they were running at me I would use 'Stupefy'. After that, I would then proceed to make sure they weren't going to be moving anytime soon so that way I could ask them why they tried to attack me. If they were a person of course. If it was a creature, I'd hand it over to the care of our Care of Magical Creatures Professor." (lache= coward) You see, unlike some of his classmates *cough* KYROH *cough*, Gregoire fought his own battles. Despite his injuries, the piercing, icy blue eyed French Snake would still fight by himself, and only himself. It would hurt like hell to do it, but the boy would not give up on fighting.

That...was a LOT of steps to take. Should he have been writing them down as the boy went along? Merlin, he didn't think he'd have bothered if all of that needed to be included. It was also quite refreshing that he'd make a remark about his classmates in that regard given the colour of his robes but the Professor said nothing except, "There's no shame in running...most times." Some times even he had to admit it was ridiculous. There was one spell in particular that had him perk up a bit. "Stupefy could help as well, yes."

Maddox crinkled his brows as he watched this one go deep in thought. It was only the discussion...nothing to really get into just yet. He might have called to her to snap her out of it but thankfully Miss Burton snapped out of it on her own and fell right into the task of name writing and question answering.

"Miss Greyvson, I insist, if you're sick you may want to see the Healer." Before she got everyone else sick too. Where was her humanity?? Did she want them all dead as if you could die from a cold.

"But no...not exactly. Reducio acts as the counter-charm to the charm engorgio. It would shrink what the other spell made bigger. The one you're looking for is 'Diminuendo'. Contrary to her choice of words, fighting wasn't always the obvious answer. There were some things that were just way above your skill level and fighting was dumber than running. It seemed the last of the discussion would be ending with the silent tripper from earlier. It wasn't a problem. Nah, a lot of them had been silent. So long as he wasn't looking confused about this class and life in general, the could move on.

He'd finished an apple by the time he got to the end of the student responses. The core was vanished at which point he snatched up another from his desk and bit into it. This one was just as good. Then again...they'd all come from the kitchen, hadn't they? Unless there was an orchard he should know about. Hmm, something to look into--but he was digressing.

"Now in case any of you are wondering," because there was always that one kid, "no, I'm not teaching a class on defense. It was just a question I thought to be fitting given the charm we'll be learning today." He paused to watch the chalk scribble the word 'Diminuendo' on an empty portion of the board.

"A few of you mentioned shrinking the attacker, or cutting its height or something else related to the size and that is what we're going to be looking at today. Crunch. "Before we get into it however, I'd like you to tell me one thing you know about this charm or an example of when you'd need to use it, outside of leveling the playing field with a massive opponent." Because they'd just gone through that...extensively it would seem.

Wow, okay so this post took way longer than I thought it would, sorry about that. Next post will be in maybe 10 hours? Sometime around 11 pm GMT-5 I hope.

Intending to answer the professor's question, the thought about what they had been discussing and what this charm could possibly do.

She raised her hand. "I would assume it's something similar to the Reduction charm, but... more focused on living beings?"

He listened to everyone else's answers very avidly while staring at the desk, awfully surprised at how violent some of his classmates were. But, to an extent, Dima could understand from where they were coming. The kid had also turned into a kicker during his supposed kidnapping, had he not?

Instead of filling out his name tag, he extracted one color-changing and one regular quill from his bag, doodling on it instead. If anyone asked, he was totally taking notes, okay? Except not really. No way Dima was wasting any of his OWN parchment on this guy and his class.

Not answering this question, either.

Hmm. So he had expected her to be more specific. Alright then she'd try that next time a question like that came up. As for now she had stuff to write down. Lifting her quill she began to jot down things like the class and date on her parchment as well as the spell they'd be learning today.

'Diminuendo'. Didn't that like have something to do with sound or noise? She thought it did but she could be wrong. So maybe it had to do with making something quieter or smaller?

Chewing on her lower lip in thought. Really she wasn't sure she she kept quiet and choose to take notes listening to what everyone said.

Thornton looked over at Dima's desk and frowned. What was he doing?? But rather than ask - because speaking in class to another student was not going to happen - Thornton made sure his own notes were clear and thorough, in case Dima needed them later.

Diminuendo. Thornton thought, seeming to recall having seen the spell in a text. What did he know about this spell... what did he know... ah!

Raising his hand, Thornton responded. "You might want to use the spell when transporting otherwise large objects? To make them more manageable?" He recalled the new piano for the upstairs study back home.. they'd had to shrink it to get it up the stairs, hadn't they?

So they would be learning the Diminuendo Charm. OK, that could be fun. When the Professor followed up with a question though, Janelle had to put on her thinking cap. She didn't really know anything about that charm so she decided to think of a good use for it.

Why would you need to shrink something? Drawing a blank, Janelle suddenly remembered something and raised her hand. "Could you use it to make a bonsai, you know if you wanted to shrink a plant?" Her sister had brought a bonsai home from school last year and Janelle wondered if that might be the charm she used.

Abby thought about this question and raised her hand and said "It could be useful for making objects smaller for transporting them elsewhere" Abby was sure she had read this in one of her text books for this term

Brilliant, he contributed valuable information to the Class. Aegis had a smug look on his face leaned back in his seat "You're very welcome Sir,... and Class." He eyed around the room once again browing at all the Pretty Ladies seated near him.

Aegis left his leaning position and put his elbows on the desk in front of him laying his chin into his pondering hand. "Well what if you wanted to make Extra Extra Space in a Bag that already had an Undetectable Extension charm on it? You could shrink...Say, your Grandmother's antique Grandfather Clock, stuff it in a bag then sell it for a bunch of Galleons at a Pawn Shop." Also you should probably duplicate the Clock too, so that your Grandmother doesn't know any the wiser that you sold the Original, but the Professor didn't need all the details.

He cleared his throat. "So long as you remember you aren't, in fact, superman Mister Kyle then yes, lovely response." Oh dear. Merlin help the lot of them.

Wow, okay so this post took way longer than I thought it would, sorry about that. Next post will be in maybe 10 hours? Sometime around 11 pm GMT-5 I hope.
Well....Oliver knew he wasn't actually Superman but he was kind of disappointed that the professor had to remind him of it. "icouldbe", he mumbled under his breath and then wrote down '1) Not Superman' onto his parchment. He wasn't trying to be rude or anything, he just really hated when people ruined his dreams. If he wanted to be Superman, there was no reason he couldn't be! He was a wizard after all. He could fly and be super strong if he worked out and then USE HIS MAGIC AGAINST EVIL! The world would just have to wait and see.

As Professor Quigley continued talking, Ollie wrote down nearly everything he was saying to the class. He wasn't sure how using a shrinking charm was cooler than just fighting the thing that was attacking him, but he figured professors knew best and wasn't going to argue it. Now Ollie had to figure out if he wanted to speak up again seeing as answering the question before didn't do him any good at all.

Giving in, and coming up with an okay answer, he raised his hand once again and said, "Well, if you're moving, you could shrink all of the really big furniture, right? Then you could just pick it up and set it where you want?" He was pretty sure that's what his mum and Jon had done when they'd moved to Scotland but he never actually saw anything happen. He just knew that everything was somehow moved from one place to another. Surely his answer made sense.

Adi had realised the way he worded his sentence the moment the words left his mouth that it wasn't quite what he wanted to say. Ugh! The perks of not really thinking things through before opening his big mouth. "Sorry, Professor. What I meant to say was we should try to fight the panic so that we could try to think of a solution." There! Much better.

For the next question, Adi considered his answer before raising his hand and letting words run out of his mouth randomly. "The incantation for the charm is Diminuendo.'' He also knew the wand movement but he'd save that for someone else who wanted to answer since he already contributed to the question. Plus the Professor did say 'one thing'.

Kace was listening to the professor's lecture and thought this teacher was pretty cool. He seemed to know his information and he saw the spell being wrote on the board. He was glad the Professor could see his way of thinking. I mean it was logical. Now onto seeing if he knew the spell, Diminuendo. Nope he didn't know any facts other than it shrunk objects and humans. But where would he use this spell...

He was thinking of possibilities and thought of a brilliant idea, "I would shrink the food from the great hall small enough to fit into my robes and then I could eat all I want." He didn't see any harm in doing that except the possibility for high cholesterol.

What… Was the professor telling her about her rat? Her rat Nabber was SUPER brave and scary! Everybody would run away from her rat, she was sure about that! The professor just didn’t knew where he was talking about, she was sure about that!

But while she listened more to the lesson, wondering WHY he had asked such a question while this wasn’t a defense lesson she stared frowning at the teacher. But then the teacher made himself clear and told them what they were learning that lesson! And of course… She didn’t knew how to use that spell! She had heard about it, of course but… Using it was something else! She even didn’t knew HOW you were supposed to use it!

And because she still felt upset about the response from the teacher about her rat Nabber she decided to keep her mouth shut this time, she folded her arms and just listened to what the others were saying!

Yes, his name was Quigley. That much was known. It was even on the board. Dante could read that much. When he wanted to. Well his answer was a logical one and that was that.

Onto the next question because Neil B. Formy was on a roll.

Well maybe not, he did not know anything more about this spell than what he just said. Maybe it would make it easier to put things in his pockets without having to bring a bag or backpack. But that was it besides the obivous of shrinking yourself. If you could. Dante did not know.

Though imagine the things you could do if you shrink yourself

....Yeah.
