Hecate stood in the middle of the classroom. She seemed more pleasant than usual... for one thing she was no longer dying. She was cured, and she looked the picture of health... well... unless you count the streak of gray in her hair, and the one gray eye... You didn't really notice the eye unless you were close to her, and not many students would dare get close enough to see... except maybe...
Well...
She'd hex the hufflepuff who did...
She opened the door to the classroom and sat behind the desk.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

Christmas knew she wasnt right but it was worth a guess she took a note of the ingredients that were in this potion and waited for the lesson to continue
The seventh year began to jot everything down... the suggestions that others gave and then the ingredients list given by LaStreak herself. And Rawdon. HEHE. She scooted her chair a little closer to his and smiled BRIGHTLY at him as he spoke of eye of newt being squidgy and all. Silly boy. At least he made her smile. HEHE.
But anyway back to the matter at hand... Potions. All of the ingredients were listed on her parchment verbatim as LaStreak put them for them all to see. And she had a question...
Raising her hand she chewed on her lip briefly before speaking, "I think it's fair to say that water is typically the base for most potions. What sets this particular potion apart, Professor? Is it the fact that this potion will not be ingested? That it is used to render the intended target ... wonky and all? And why milk?" Lowering her hand the girls face turned tomato red... was it okay to ask such questions of this particular professor?
It was just... the girl was a Ravenclaw. So CLEARLY she had questions.

So far so good. Kendall had managed to not get yelled at or anything, and she’d started taking notes as the discussion had turned to possible ingredients. She hadn’t had any ideas about possible things that could go into a potion that worked the way the noxious potion was supposed to work, aside from a guess that something was in there that would make the smoke part possible but nothing had come to mind as to what that ingredient might be. By then, Professor Lafay had spoken again, so she’d merely shifted to add a section to her journal under the description she’d noted about the uses and nature of the potion and silently started copying the list of ingredients down. That would keep her from needing to look up at the board once they got started brewing, at least.
She wasn’t looking forward to actually brewing it. The question of if it smelled bad while it was being made kept floating through her mind, along with the detail that a person would have to be forced to actually drink it. Something told her that either they were going to have to force themselves to, or someone else, and she didn’t particularly look forward to that. She wasn’t going to actually protest right now, though, or try to get up to retrieve the ingredients before they were told to. She was just going to stay here quietly and continue paying attention, also adding the obvious first step to the procedure that she knew was coming. It was the first step in all her notes from previous terms, and she wasn’t going to stop adding it into them now.

So if you put the FEAR of stinkitus into a victim exposed to the noxious potion you could pretty well guarantee they'd get it and end up in St. Mungos for a while? Well that was kind of interesting right? West absorbed this and the list of ingredients with an air of someone who thought what he was learning was groundbreaking stuff.
Which made him think of a question so he put his hand up. "Professor, does it work on Muggles? I mean, if they don't know about the full extent of what it could mean, you're just left with the stink of it, and how some potions don't work for Muggles, I just wondered...." Would it?

No lovage. Well, that's something to learn. Kat listened to the other students suggest some more ingredients. Troll... dung. Ew. Lemon's juice? That can be lemonade too. Sulfur. That's gross. No wonder why you'd barf with this. Not listening to the suggestions anymore cos of weak appetite reasons, Kat waited until Lafay had the ingredients on the board.
When she did, Kat scribbled on her parchment.

Peyton wrinkled her nose at some of the ingredients that were going to be used. Things like mucus and dung turning her stomach a bit. What sucked the most was that milk was being added. She loves milk. Especially with cookies and now it was being used for some foul potion.

As gross as this subject was at times, Ness half enjoyed it. It reminded her a bit of cooking and it was sort of fun, just not something Nessie was hugely passionate about because it involved quite a few gooey things.
Ingredients time though, yes?
The red head looked at the board and scribbled them down to add to her heading and little description. Once the ingredients were written down, she skimmed them with a huge cringe already noticing things she didn't want to touch or work with. Like flobberworm mucus. They wouldn't have to physically touch that with their hands right? Because ewww if they did!
Trying not to think about mucus, Ness looked at Lafay waiting for permission to head to the storage cupboard.

Okay so water wasn't used, and instead of that cow's milk was used as a base. And seriously, dung was used? Ew! And Ira was particularly thinking of one thing. How were they going to be preparing this potion? It was a potion whose smell alone was enough to make one go crazy. So imagine if the whole class prepared the potion at once, it would be so crazy in the classroom!
Ira's eyes widened, and her hand involuntarily covered her nose and mouth.

Daichi had been rather quiet during the lesson. It wasn't that he wasn't interested but he couldn't concentrate due to his mind taking him to a certain person. He missed his girlfriend Indy who had gone to Beauxbaton during the summer and the Prefect let out a small sigh.
He listened with half an ear to what the Professor was saying and only began to pay attention when she pointed at the blackboard again. The sixth year blinked his eyes and decided to stupid sighing and do his best in the lesson. After all, what if some of the first years saw him and they took note of his lousy example. Bone regenerative potions have milk bases... there is one that has a flobberworm mucus base... not to mention other potions with other bases. It isn't a special potion, it's just that sometimes you need thicker bases. Curdled milk is something that emits a horrible smell..."

Oh.. those ingredients.. yeah. Alice was definitely going to end up blowing a cauldron up, didn't anyone REALIZE? And she wouldn't have guessed a single one of those. The Noxious Potion is a potion that emits a green smoke that corrupts the mind into thinking it's poisonous and harmful and icky.
Procedure
- Clean the cauldron.
Ingredients
- Milk, to fill cauldron half way
- 5 Doxy eggs
- 10 grams of Sulfur
- 2 ounces of armadillo bile
- 4 cups of flobberworm mucus
- 1 cup of whale oil
- 2 cups of Mountain Troll Dung
- 1 Lemon's juice
- Handful of Poppy seeds
OH. And they were getting the ingredients now? Okay. Alice went to fetch all of the things, taking them each back to her area one at a time and being VERY careful not to spill anything. Because that would be bad. She even chose the chunkiest dung she could spot. Next, she moved on to cleaning the cauldron. "Scourgify." Milk, now? The lioness poured her milk into the thing, taking care to get in just the right amount. Or it maybe possibly could have been more or less.. whatever. A small bit of milk here and there couldn't explode anything, right?
She hoped not.
And.. the burner. The fourth year set it to a LOW fire, just like Lafay had instructed, and watched the milk do whatever it was supposed to be doing. And awaited further instructions, mmhmm, like a good little child.

ALRIGHT! POTION TIME!!!
Lex hopped up from her seat and hurried over to the cupboards to get the ingredients she'd need. There wasn't much time to waste, she wanted to see how cool the noxious think would look when it was done PLUS they always got to keep a little of anything they made so that was some extra incentive for her to hurry.
Once she was back at her cauldron she placed everything on the table around it then drew for her wand.
"Scourgify." And bam the cauldron was clean. BEAM. She was getting better with her spells.
Then she got to the milk filling and once that was done she set a low fire under the cauldron.
NEXT PLEASE!!

Right...she needed to get the ingredients.
That did make sense for without them she couldn't exactly coo---brew the potion. Getting up from her seat, Ellura picked up her parchment containing the list and followed the example set by other students to the supply cabinet. She gathered as much as she could carefully before returning to her workstation, repeating the process a second time to get the very last ingredients.
Back at her workstation, she set her cauldron down on the burner so she could begin though now the third year was unsure of things. Remembering the first step given, Ellura poured in the milk, filling her cauldron halfway. However she had missed the professor's action of cleaning the cauldron, herself unfamiliar with brewing potions in the first place.
