Default 1 - Dreamer's Elixer

Hecate had just returned from St Mungo's. She was very pale, and the bags under her eyes were dark and gray. Her lips were dry and she looked as if she'd lost weight.

The healers of the third floor were not happy that she'd released herself. But Hecate Lafay was not going to remain in that horrid hospital room. She'd gotten back a few moments ago and she was going to hold a class.

Even if it killed her.

She opened the door to the classroom and sat behind the desk.

ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

Now as she glanced around her eyes fell first on Vickers, who got a nod in his general direction, and then... MILTON. HMPH. She narrowed her eyes and walked straight toward him, plopping into an empty seat next to him. Friends close, enemies closer. Yep.
Crap. It was her. The evil ginger. And she sat down right next to him. Looovely. Milton refused to make eye contact with her and rested his head in his hand, clearing facing away from her. He didn't want to die today.

"Alright you may or may not have heard, I'm a bit under the weather..." Understatement of the year... "But I will be just fine. Healers are working around the clock, so don't think I'm leaving you anytime soon."

"Let's start class, shall we? Can anyone tell me IF and What they dreamed last night?" She asked the class.
But if Addy Kennedy didn't kill him, Lafay might. She might have been sick, but if looks could kill... Oh man. Milton was a dead man.

And it was ShackleBOLT. CAPTAIN ShackleBOLT. She never got his name right. She probably did it on purpose. Evil woman.

Finally, the class was starting. Dreams... He had a dream last night, yes. Well, it was actually sometime during the day. He had fallen asleep before dinner, he was so tired. He wracked his brain because he KNEW he had dreamed about something, but it was a bit fuzzy. "I had a dream that... I was in some hallway, here at Hogwarts. And... it was dark... and someone was feeding me soup." Random, but true. "And they were checking my eyes for.. something." Yeeeup. True story.

Nodding, and with a slightly surprised expression on the lioness' face, Kurumi slid into the seat beside Lewis and set her things out. "Hey," she whispered, meeting his eyes briefly as her cheeks rose in color just a little as a shy smile tickled its way across her lips. "Ready for another term of tutoring me?" Because Lewis was far more brilliant when it came to this subject than she was.

Setting her book and parchment on the table, Kurumi relaxed her shoulders just a little as she looked forward, maybe scooting her seat a little closer to his, but not that she noticed she had. After last term's Potions lesson were everyone had frozen, Kurumi felt safer with him by her side. Ignore that he too had frozen, but at least they had together?

Once Kurumi had set her quill on her parchment, Kurumi was about to pick it up and at least write her name when Professor Lafay began the lesson. The violet eyes of the Gryffindor instantly fell on Sierra, looking mostly at the back of her head, and she bit her lip. Really...Kurumi felt as though she should, needed to, reach out to the Slytherin. Even if Sierra wanted nothing to do with her. Maybe it was too Gryffindor of her to hope for such a change, but...Kurumi WAS a Gryffindor and even people who disliked her as much as Sierra seemed to deserved to smile.

But back to the topic at hand - which reminded Kurumi of Divination. UG. Dreams...yeah...she had had a dream...but could hardly remember it to the extent that her classmates seemed to be. It was fragments mostly. A flash of this and that. Slowly, Kurumi raised her hand. "I dreamed, professor, but I can only remember...strawberries and a door."

Oh, good. Abby had heard some stuff about this professor and most of it was scary, yes but it was great that she wasn't leaving soon.

Waiit. Dreams AGAIN!? What's will all the classes focusing on dreams? Abby sighed and tried to remember what she dreamed.. it was something REALLY weird, she knew that for a fact. Abby raised her hand hesitantly. "I had a dream that.. um.. that I was back home and.. err.. later there was a bear playing football? I.. don't remember.." Yeah, well. At least, she remembered something. That was good, right?

Had Beezley had a bit of hair on her head, she'd have flipped it dramatically before approaching the Potions classroom. She was on a mission, and she was going to succeed, she was!

She just needed the help of some of the studentsies.

She wobbled ever-so-slightly as she pushed open the heavy door of the Potions classroom. "Missus Minister? Beezley is on a mission, and Beezley has come here to search," she said, hopeful that the professor would help her. "Missus Truebridge has lost a brooch, and elfsies are searching for it. Would Missus Minister let her studentsies help Beezley look around for it?"

What did she dream about last night? ...thatwasabitpersonal, right?

Anya quickly lost herself in thoughts of her dream. Weirdly enough, it was one that was in color, even though she normally dreamed in black and white.

... not that that was the part that mattered.

She tilted her head to the side and watched as Sierra shared her dream. ...was it awful of her that she didn't even realize the snake had feelings...? Her eyes flickered between her and the Professor. She made a mental note to smile at Sierra sometime. She could probably use it.

She listened to a few other responses. There was one in particular that caught her attention. One that she knew was not only a dream but had happened in real life.

... and she should probably answer the question, shouldn't she?

She raised her hand a little to share her own dream. "I dreamed about sitting in a porch swing. There was a nice breeze. ...and I had a book." Not that interesting. ...but she left out the part where she had a dream about her future. Because, it felt weird to say something like that. She was just 14.

AND what was WITH the house elves showing up everywhere?! She eyed it and slowly sank in her chair so that she was hardily visible.

If anyone asked... she was looking for that stupid brooch that kept bringing the scary elves interrupting her lessons.

"Just Fine, Miss Wilson." She said waving it off.

"Good Day Prefect Gert," She said greeting the Gryffindor seventh year.

She looked down at the ceramic pot. "Hot cocoa you say..." She had a half a mind to tell the child something so minimal could not cure her, and how stupid she was for thinking it... but she needed to control her temper if she was going to ride this out. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try a homeopathic remedy..." She took the pot and said. "Thank you."

Ahhh yes. The boy was in her office when her began showing symptoms. "Master Odessa, I'm glad it didn't scare you away." She said and gave the boy a polite nod. She didn't really care if she scared the students. But what had happened, shouldn't have happened.

"Hello Miss Phillips." She said.

"Logan..." She said glaring.

"Good Day Master Stonewall," She nodded to him, and said "I will."

"Hello Master Lupin" She said to the boy.

"Hello Miss Moreau" She said retrieving a tissue.

"Good Morning Master Vanderbilt," And then she stared at him. Anything he could help with? Yeah, work on a cure... "Just be available to help your under classmates."

"Master Kinsley..." She said with a nod.

"Hello Miss Quinn," she said to the girl.

... him.

She could feel her temper starting to flare, her eyes glaring on the boy who kept getting her snakes in trouble.

She didn't like the boy one bit. "Shackleford." She said knowing FULL well that wasn't his last name. And she didn't use his Captain title either...

"Good day to you Miss Somerlad..." Did the three Slytherin boys tell the whole school what had happened in her office? Well nothing she could do now.

"Good day to you Miss Castell..." She said to the girl who reminded her of an old enemy....

"Hello Miss Edwards." She said and wiped the sides of her mouth with the kerchief... nothing yet, good.

"Prefect Hollingberry. Very well, see me after class." She said and nodded. It was probably cookies... They'd go well with the hot cocoa.

"Good day to you and yes Miss Kim, I'm just fine." She lied.

"Good day Prefect Hutchinson," she told the boy.

"Feeling fine, Miss Wheatborn." She said getting annoyed at the constant questioning. She knew she didn't look right... she had a mirror, but she didn't think everyone would notice.

"Good Day Master Rush," she told the handsome boy... maybe she should point Sierra in his direction.

ooc: *RAWR*

"Hello Miss Bishop." she said.

"I'm fine Miss Carter." She lied to the girl.

"Miss Johansson. Good day to you." She told her.

"Well thank you for that Miss..." she looked at her roster, "Miss Solster, but I assure you, I'm fine."

"Fine Miss Hudson." She said through her teeth.

"Hello Miss Campbell," she greeted.

Sierra...

... *sigh*

"Miss Greingoth, no matter what the circumstances, I expect respect from my students and for them to greet me or any other professor, upon entering their classroom." She gave her a sad smile, "Don't make me owl your father."

"Hello Master Piatek, do find a seat." She said unimpressed.

"Good Day Miss Kennedy." She said getting up from her desk and walking around to the front.

"Prefect Rasting. Hello." She said with a nod.

"Morning Miss Dixon." She said.

"Good Morning Master McCarthy." She said.

"Hello Miss Talbot." She greeted.

"Hello Master Radley, I am just fine. I'm here aren't I?" She said to the boy getting a little irate.

"Good day Miss Hyde," she said to the young girl.

"Good Morning to you Miss Marchbanks," and gave her a nod.

"Good Morning Miss Lecium" she said greeting the girl.

Harlow gave a squeak of surprise when Professor Lafay took the coco jar from her. She hadn't really expected her to do that. Lafay wasn't called the Dragon Lady for nothing after all.

But Harlow gave the potioneer a small smile and scampered off to her bench before her good fortune ran out. Lady Luck could be a fickle mistress after all.

Harlow raised her hand, "Um, I had a dream last night. It was more of a nightmare really." She said softly. "I was sitting under a tree in the middle of a glade. It wasn't a sunny day. Thunderclaps were sounding off like cannon fire. In my lap was my writing book and I had my favorite quill, but the words I was writing on the page bleed off onto the ground. The ink started to spread and it killed the grass and the sky turned a ugly shade of purple like a fading bruise..." she didn't finish. It was still a vivd nightmare and she had woken up in a cold sweat. And she was sharing something that scared her and she didn't want to start crying in front of everyone.

As Cassia sat down listening to the weird dreams of others and detailed ones too.She was wondering how did they remember so many details? Cassia never did. And wow some older students had the weirdest ones. Cassia was convinced that getting older did something to you, something BAD.

Then a house-elf entered the room. Cassia looked at the little creature asking for help and immediately jumped from her seat, "I could help!" She was good at searching because she loses so many things all the time. But before taking any further step, Cassia remembered that her head of house was HERE! Cassia kept her hands on the desk still standing but didn't move. She remembered that she had heard a rumor that the headmistress visited Lafay's office for some reason. But Cassia never heard why. Though she made sure to keep up with the gossip around school. "Um....should we help Professor....or not of our buisness?" She asked politely because she just didn't want to be set on fire. And because Cassia had that idea in her head that her loyalty goes to Slytherin FIRST which meant the Head of House before the headmistress. She won't say it out loud so she should n't be in trouble for that.

But she couldn't help not asking the house-elf, "Have you tried Accio brouch? " She asked. Because you know it seemed natural to try.

Jory listened as the others recited their dreams. He hardly remembered his and racking his brains for it. He had certainly recalled it promptly when he woke up this morning.

He was about to give up when it all came back. He raised his hand. "I dreamt I was back home and I had a nasty case of the flu,'' he said. Nothing special about that.

And the textbook would most certainly be of use for him, he hadn't had much practice with potions yet and the guidance would be definitely helpful for this lesson.

The question wasn't what he expected from a Potions lesson however and his eyes widened in surprise. Did all the professors organise with one another so the subjects would share a common theme or something? He was sure they were doing this in divination.

He raised his hand to answer the question. "I dreamed about a flock of Phoenix" he answered. There wasn't much detail, no, but there wasn't a lot he could actually remember within it. He was fairly certain his dream was because he missed Amadeus back home, it was strange having gone so long without seeing him.

And she remembered. Frown. Cassia raised her hand and spoke, "I dreamed of plants." Her eyebrows furrowed automatically mentioning the most thing she loathed. "Probably because I've been avoiding doing my Herbology homework." Wait did she say this out loud? They, whoever they were, can't take points from her for saying this ,right? She didn't say she wasn't going to do it. Maybe she should think about what comes out of her mouth some more. Like she ever does.

Hearing the question, she sat there and pondered it for a moment. She had a lot of dreams, she knew this; but remembering them was always the hardest part. She could remember bits and pieces of them, but whole dreams were the problem.

Raising her hand slowly, she figured maybe as bit of a dream would work too. "I dreamed I was lost somewhere. Not really sure where I was but, I know I was lost." Yup, that was pretty much as she could remember from the dreams last night.

So, it was obvious he was sat next to her. That and he wouldn't sit anywhere else.

Kennedy nudged her shoulder with his a little and sent her a small grin. That might not do much, but it expressed that he was there for her, and if it wasn't for Professor Lafay's keen sight then he'd comfort her.

Merlin, he was starting to sound like a Hufflepuff.

Under the weather? M'hm, right.

Kennedy glanced down at the piece of parchment he had taken out and tapped his quill on his other hand and stopped when Professor Lafay asked the question.

Dream?

Hmm.... Weeeeell...

He still had nightmares of the day of the attack, that couldn't be considered as a dream, could it? Yes, it could, but he wasn't about to share THAT because...well, his father was involved in that, but he could share what the dream sort of related to. Kennedy raised his hand and said, "My dream was about me dueling..." It was true.

When he's settled into his usual station and lined up his Potions things he looked up when the Professor started with her lesson. A dream theme... much like it was in Divination. Now what about his dream last night? Errrr..... that cant be discussed in front of the entire class for certain private reasons, but he can just say what recurring dreams he sometimes have "Professor, I keep having a recurring dream of something that happened to me as a child. He paused, "I dreamed that I was on an island with my dad and my sister, and me and my sister were going swimming, but the island was all cliffs, and she said if I jumped off first, she'd jump off after me, and I jumped, and then she didn't, and I couldn't get back up and she wouldn't help me so I had to swim around the whole island, and I got so tired and I couldn't go any further and then I found a vine and I climbed up and when I got to the top there, my team was up there, and looking for me. And then they helped me get home, and my dad was so happy to see me, and it turned out it wasn't Aspen at all, and my dad said we had to wait for the real Aspen to come back and that she would once she was done growing up."

Dreams never made any sense, right?

And why was Professor Lafay drooling?

Befelda seemed a little confused. What does dream got to do with Potions? Isn't it more related to Divination?, she thought to herself.

She suddenly remembered her dream last night. She hastily raised her hand. "Professor, I dreamed about my Dad last night, teaching me how to fly on a broomstick and how to catch the Golden Snitch the fastest way. My Dad was a Seeker in his class back then.", she said.

It was one thing to get a cold, that Eliza didn't worry much about, but the way the other students were treating this professor had her thinking the worst. She didn't know diddly squat about healing, or much about magic at all really, otherwise she would've tried to charm something to make her smile for a minute. She always felt better when her mom made her smile while she was sick. Maybe it wasn't the same with adults though.

The little Ravenclaw tried to remember what she had dreamt last night. I wonder if this will tie in with Divination somehow... Recalling bits and pieces, she raised her hand and answered, "Last night I dreamt that I was climbing a tower..." She tried to recall more details. "...a really tall tower, but the sun was in my eyes so it was hard to make my way." She thought there had been something she was trying to reach but she couldn't think of what it was. "And then there were vines, living, moving vines - and they tried to help me up." She wondered what the professor would think of them based on their dreams. Especially the students she'd never met before. This could be interesting, she thought.

Ethan was a bit reluctant to share the recurring dream that he had again last night. After all, weren't dreams kinda... personal? Still, Lafay did not look like someone who thought of class participation as optional... no matter how ill she may be. Perhaps he could relay it without some of the more personal details.

The fifth year raised his hand and answered, "I dreamt that I was riding in one of those Muggle... er, trucks. I'm not sure who was operating it... I couldn't see the face, but it must've been someone I knew because I had a sorta familiar feeling about him in my dream. Anyway, we were crossing a bridge in this truck... one of those bridges that are meant for walking over with the wooden slats. A few of the slats were missing and I was really worried that we were going to fall into the water... but we made it across safely." That was enough, wasn't it? Bizarre, yes... but just enough info without anything too personal.

He raised his hand. "Well Professor, last night I had a REALLY weird dream. I was riding around in a big blue box with some man with a bowtie. Then we crashed and I had to run away from a future version of myself who was trying to sell shoes to me, and then I ended up in this big city that was under attack by a giant bat and a scarecrow," he explained.

Yeah, he didn't understand it either.

Right. Starting the lesson. So what did he dream of last night?

...Easy.

The now fifteen-year-old raised his hand and said, "I did dream last night and it was about how I was on a professional quidditch team. I won the game and after I won, my prize was all the food in the entire world." He ended his little statement with a big grin on his face. That dream was definitely on the top of his best dreams ever list.

Dreams?

The Gryffindor raised her hand. "Professor, I imagined that, in class, I had brewed a potion that could cause one to become immune to love germs." And what a miraculous dream it was. "Then, they repaid the favor in ice cream, sugary waffle cones, and doughnuts." Lovely dream. And all of that candy.. she could almost taste it..

"I had a dream that I was walking up a long spiral tower, the Astronomy Tower maybe, or the stair that lead to the Divination classroom? Anyways I would reach the top of the tower, but there was no room just the end of the steps and one door. I open the door and I would end up at the bottom of the tower again. I climb it again and this time it seems to be longer. Once I reached the top there was still nothing but the door. I would open it end up, and be at the bottom again."

Oakey thought this dream was disturbing. Not nightmare disturbing, just annoying disturbing. He wanted the dream to stop, or that door to take him somewhere different.

True story.

And the bear made us muffins out of twigs and mud and wanted me to eat one, only I don't like how mud tastes." And she KNEW that because she had a little brother. She was hungry right now, actually. Funny how that worked.

After a few minutes, Professor Lafay was at the front. Yeah, she certainly did appear to be a bit under weather. Beezus wondered what might've caused this. But finding it more appropriate to shut her mouth at the woman's class, she didn't voice it out. Instead, she pointed herself to her question, cue that class has started.

Dreams, huh? Just like in Divination?

She couldn't really remember most of her dreams and last night's was no different. "I can't exactly remember everything about my dream last night Professor but there were doors.. lots of them," made of different material, different design.. "..and when I open one and step in I keep going back to that same place with the many doors." There were also differences on the ambiance when she opens a door, what those were she couldn't remember. She even thought hard if she had found her way out in that dream.

Dreams? Again? Well, at least it wasn't likely that they about to try to read something into them, unlike Divination. Nope, this probably had something to do with the potion that they were going to be making today. Maybe a way to avoid nightmares? But still, she didn't really like the idea of sharing her dream with the class. Whatever happened in her brain, stayed in her brain. "I don't really remember my dream." Yeah, she surely had one, seeing that she had woken up in a happy mood. Especially considering that she wasn't a morning person! At least the announcement to the class, the one about not leaving them anytime soon, gave a little bit of promise. Sierra sighed softly then raised her hand. "I...didn't exactly have a dream last night," she said. It'd been more of a nightmare, and she was out of the potion she used to control them and hadn't wanted to bother her mother for more.

She was good at searching because she loses so many things all the time.

"Elf! Get out of my classroom!" She said getting angry. "You will not disrupt my class... now get out, or I'll brew something that required House Elf flesh."

She then turned to the cauldron and filled it with water. "Use a water base. Fill your cauldrons and set the fire below."

Beezley had been waiting patiently just inside the door when one of the studentsies (Cassia) spoke up. She smiled a toothless grin then walked her little wobbly legs further into the classroom. She turned her grin to the professor, hoping she'd be as nice as the ickle studentsie.

...but Missus Minister wasn't.

Beezley grew very wide-eyed and got a look of pure horror on her face. "Oh, ohhh, Missus! Beezley is so sorry, she is!" the elf exclaimed. She hid her face and started walking backwards out the door. Beezley is not wanted here. Missus Minister is so, so scary.

Then... CRASH!!!

Beezley had backed into a table and had turned just in time to see an empy vial wobble then topple down toward the floor. "No, no, no, no," Beezley mumbled. She tried to catch the vial, but the vial landed with a crash. "Beezley is so, so sorry, Missus. Beezley doesn't want to be made into a potion. Beezley will clean up her mess."

Either remember or forget dreams? Vivi wasn't sure she'd ever had a dream good enough to want to take potions to remember it, nor bad enough that she wanted it wiped from her mind, but she knew that many people did want to clear out bad dreams. It was probably a useful sort of potion to have in one's repertoire.

The interruption of a house elf distracted Vivi momentarily, and she opened her mouth to offer a suggestion to the poor creature when she was unceremoniously ejected from the room. Had the Potions Mistress really just threatened one of the loyalest creatures in the entire castle? Vivi turned wide eyes on the woman, who... ill or not... was being terribly unkind to someone who had to be there simply because the Headmistress requested it.

But was it worth causing trouble? Vivi mused over that question as she filled her cauldron and lit a fire beneath it. "Professor, how full do you want the cauldron?"

A crash from the front of the room distracted her again, and Vivi stepped around her own bench to help the poor creature clean up the spilled potion. "We'll just banish the mess. Don't worry."

curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog

Alex gasped as the elf made a horrible mistake and dropped a vial on the ground...thank goodness it was empty! Hopefully Lafay would be forgiving, but just in case...

"Professor, please don't hurt her," he said, biting his lip. "I mean...the minister had an elf looking in Divination for her brooch too. She's just following orders from Truebridge," he said, his voice getting quieter and quieter as he spoke. He barely ever spoke to his step-mother, because she honestly still scared the living daylights out of him most of the time.

After a few awkward seconds of staring at her, he fumbled with his desk contents and found his wand, quickly filling up his cauldron with water while avoiding her eye.

Jory felt sorry for the elf. She looked so scared. But just then Professor Lafay gave the first instructions. He got out his wand and pointed it at his cauldron to clean it . "Scorgify!'' Now, for the water. "Aguamenti!'' After it was filled, he ignited the fire below it.

The badger had just finished that when he heard a loud crash. He whipped around to see a vial shattered on the floor and the Beezley looking even more scared.

Kat shivered when Lafay got angry at the Beezley. Poor elf. Kat couldn't blame Lafay for actually bursting her bubble on the elf. Lafay just came from St. Mungo's. But she knew it was best to shut up than get mad at Lafay.

Grabbing her wand, Lafay had given her instructions. "Scourgify," the blonde said. The cauldron looked squeaky clean afterwards. Now, she had to add water. "Aguamenti," she said as soft as a whisper, but water came out of her wand and filled the cauldron.

Quietly, Kat had set the fire below the cauldron before Lafay could get even angrier.

Milton's eyes flickered toward Anya as she described her dream. He also looked around at a few others, but he didn't pay much attention to them. He was still distracted by the dream he had last night.

His attention turned back to Lafay when she started talking again. The potion could help them remember dreams? Well, that was brilliant. He could figure out who in the world was feeding him soup. And why. It was nice of whoever it was, but incredibly random.

Milton jumped a little when Lafay suddenly started yelling at.. an elf? Oh. He hadn't even realized there was one in there. Distracted much? He couldn't help but laugh quietly to himself. Lafay may have been sick, but she was still the same Lafay, that was for sure.

After cleaning out his cauldron, Milton filled it with water and set the fire below, just like the professor had. And then he waited for further instruction.

...but Missus Minister wasn't.

Abby wasn't a huge fan of house elves but she didn't see why the professor had to be so rude to Beezley. House elf potion.. Oh gosh. Abby didn't feel sorry for anyone but this elf.. it looked so scared. Her eyes shifted to the boy who was standing up for Beezley. Good. The poor elf didn't do anything for it to be subject to such.. such hatred. And, the elf made matters worse by accidentally dropped a vial to the ground. Oh gosh.

She quickly filled the cauldron with water and ignited the fire beneath it, her eyes darting towards Beezley every few seconds. Yeah, she was scared for that creature.

Beezus had been listening to what her classmates' dreams were, some were really weird, unrealistic, and yeah..just weird. And to what Professor Lafay said about not remembering dreams. Her dreams often slips away when she wakes up. The potion they were to brew might be of help for she wanted to retain her dreams, no matter what they were.

Then all of a sudden, a house elf was at the classroom. IT WAS BEEZLEY! The Ravenclaw's dark brown eyes widened. IT WAS BEEZLEY! THE HOUSE ELF SHE'D ALWAYS WANTED TO BEFRIEND! She was looking for the Headmistress' brooch, is it? Beezus was about to speak up, tell the house elf that she'd help when the Potions Mistress snapped at the poor creature.

The Ravenclaw frowned. There was really no need to threaten Beezley. Go now little one.

As the house elf said she was going, Beezus got around to filing her cauldron quickly with water. She was on the act of starting the fire when there was yet another crash.

She broke something.

Lafay will surely scream at her again. Oh.

She set the fire under her cauldron. "The potion we are brewing today can either make you forget your dreams, or... when adding another ingredient, make you remember them."

Ira nodded. Yeah, it was difficult to remember dreams. But still, Professor hadn't answered her question. Did dreams influence moods? It was logically possible though.

Anyways, Ira looked in surprise as a small house elf Beezley entered the Potions classroom for a brooch. And in the process, knocked down a vial! Oops! Maybe a house elf could be immune from Lafay's glare? Maybe..

Anyways, Ira put her head a bit down and took out her parchment and quill to start taking notes. Potion to remember dreams? And forget them? Was there such potion?! Nice!

Alright, fist step. She took out her cauldron and set it on the table. Filling her cauldron with water, she set the fire below as instructed. Now wait for Professor to continue. After the house elf had been properly scolded and glared at, of course. Or maybe not, seeing how unwell Lafay was..

Landon watched the scene in front of him unfold and he felt bad for the poor little elf. The elf didn't mean to and now he had a feeling Professor Lefay was going to actually make the potion. Then again, that probably couldn't happen if she wanted to work here, right?

He took his eyes away and shook his head, doing as he was instructed. He filled the cauldron with water and set the fire below it. Easy enough. So now that he was done...

"Professor. I-I could help find the brooch with the elf if you'd like and-and clean up the mess." He stuttered. He didn't want to be yelled at and anyways, he was just trying to help. Hopefully the Professor wouldn't be too mad, especially since this was his first year at Hogwarts and all. He didn't want a Professor to be already mad at him.

Dreams... it seemed like there was a weird theme going in classes this term, with Divination studying dreams. The beach room in Charms could be like a dream, minus the terrifying hurricane. Now they were talking about dreams in Potions. Kendall had listened to the people who had volunteered to recall their dreams, but she herself had wracked her brain for the entire segment of the lesson to even try to remember her dreams from the night before. All she could remember was Galway and chocolate. And zombies, in one of them, but none of that was enough to actually say aloud. Maybe the potion would actually be useful. Unless she'd forgotten because she didn't want to remember. Either way, the lesson had moved on by the time she'd come to that conclusion, so she'd stayed quiet and started getting her workstation ready as they were instructed to, setting her cauldron up and starting to inspect it carefully to make sure it was clean.

She wasn't stupid, after all, even if she'd thought about exploding a cauldron just to make things interesting. She wasn't about to skip the cleaning step that was never mentioned but always ended up getting somebody yelled at for forgetting. She got distracted by Beezley entering the room, though, pausing in her preparation to cast Aguamenti to watch the exchange with wide hazel eyes. Okay, Professor Lafay really doesn't like house elves, she thought, cringing as the vial was shattered. I don't wanna witness a house elf killing. She gave Beezley credit for not having completely ran off, though. The elf was clearly (and understandably) terrified, but it didn't run off. And she murmured "Aguamenti" to start filling her cauldron with water, then lit the fire underneath carefully. If Beezley could be brave, she was going to be too. And maybe quietly start looking for the headmistress's brooch once class was over.

Fine? Well, it possible that she can be okay only she doesn't look okay? It didn't make sense but Juliet will have to go with her answer. Not to ask her more questions. After all, her word is final.

Juliet sat up straight when the professor officially started the class with a question about dreams. OHHHH! They're going to brew something that is linking to dreams right??? No??? Maybe?

She waited for her turn to answer. She then raised her hand "I dreamed about finally getting to do archery around school." since she hasn't done any of it ever since she came her. Guess she just miss it.

Taking her cauldron and other basic stuff such as the stirrer, she placed them all into the table. And so she's right about what they will brewing. Forgetting dreams VS remembering them. Tricky, Juliet doesn't know which one should be the good thing. "Scourgify" she started with cleaning. Then while she started to lit fire, she took out her wand and pointed it over to her cauldron "Aguamenti".

Cassia's eyes widened seeing Lafay's reaction to the house-elf. Well, obviously the woman didn't like the creature, no? And Cassia was glad that she wasn't going to be brewed in the potion along with the house-elf. So appreciating that she sat back slowly. You don't push it if Lafay decided to ignore Cassia. You take advantage of it.

Um...they were starting to learn the potion or preparing to brew the elf? Just to know. Anyway, Cassia saw that a couple of students started doing it. So Cassia would do the same and have herself occupied.

"Scourgify," She murmured. Then ,"Aguamenti." Cassia kept filling the cauldron till it was full then she stopped.

Cassia smiled back at the house-elf. She ,Beezley as Cassia guessed ,didn't seem to want to annoy anyone. So Cassia sent her an apologetic look when the Slytherin sat back. Nothing she could do if Lafay didn't let them.

And then the elf stumbled or something causing a vial to break down.Uh-oh! Cassia tried not to gasp. Because that was a bad thing. Breaking one of the Potions Master equipment! The second-year glanced at the Professor to see what will she do?!?

Kurumi actually wished that she still kept a dream journal, now that she thought about it. That had been one class assignment that she had rather enjoyed in regards to Divination - which WAS saying something. Taking a piece of parchment from her pile, Kurumi wrote her name and a few notes on it after Professor Lafay finished the little introduction of the potion they would be brewing.

SPOILER!!: Kurumi's parchment

She wobbled ever-so-slightly as she pushed open the heavy door of the Potions classroom. "Missus Minister? Beezley is on a mission, and Beezley has come here to search," she said, hopeful that the professor would help her. "Missus Truebridge has lost a brooch, and elfsies are searching for it. Would Missus Minister let her studentsies help Beezley look around for it?"
"It's Beezley!" Kurumi squeaked, jumping up and down in her seat for a moment and momentarily forgetting she was in the middle of a lesson. House elves were way more important that potion making anyway. Her expression changed momentarily when the house elf stated why she was here...Headmistress Truebridge's broach. Still? As much as Kurumi really did enjoy the company of house elves...all these interruptions were not helping her study for her NEWTs...

"NO!" Kurumi gasped, her hand reaching across for Lewis' as she sort of jumped up out of her seat at the Potion Mistress' words. Blushing furiously, Kurumi hurriedly sat down in her seat again and averted her eyes downwards. "She can't do that..." Kurumi whispered. "They're classified as beings...meaning they sufficient intelligence to understand the laws of the magical community and to bear part of the responsibility in shaping those laws...you can't use their parts for potions...it's against wizarding law!"

Kurumi didn't care if the woman was married to the Minister of Magic - and it didn't even cross her mind that it could be an empty threat - Kurumi would not stand for someone threatening house elves after all they did for Hogwarts.

"She's...she's just following orders, Professor," Kurumi said, echoing a classmate's words. "Beezley has to do what the Headmistress asks of her...please don't punish her just for being a house elf..."

Elise just watched, totally zonked out as the drama happened around her. She had no idea what to do anymore. She'd been listening to her classmates dreams, and honestly was impressed. Elise was just under the impression that she didn't dream.

Oh. The house elf was leaving. Pulling out her wand, she prepared herself when she heard a little crash. Oh, no. This was bad. Really really bad. Yeah. Please don't yell at the elf, Lafay.

Right. Back to filling her cauldron. "Aguamenti," she said, almost inaudible. But she still voiced it out. And when her cauldron was about full, she muttered a "Finite". Wand tip redirected to the grate below her cauldron, Elise murmured an "Incendio" and simply waited for further instruction.

Oooooh, this was a cool potion to be brewing. Theo really needed to look through his textbook some more, to get some of his own practice in. It was a lot more difficult to practice brewing than actual spells.

Theodore rolled his eyes at the elf that disrupted the class. Unlike EVERYONE else in this school, he really didn't like 'em much.

He guessed it was the ears....

Okay.... the water spell. Theo was getting good at this one, after it went ALMOST perfectly in CoMC.. He pulled out his wand, took a deep breath and, "Aguamenti." He didn't say it with too much panic this time, and it had worked! The cauldron filled to the right height, allowing him to continue to light the fire underneath.

Touchdoooown.
