Hecate had just returned from St Mungo's. She was very pale, and the bags under her eyes were dark and gray. Her lips were dry and she looked as if she'd lost weight.

The healers of the third floor were not happy that she'd released herself. But Hecate Lafay was not going to remain in that horrid hospital room. She'd gotten back a few moments ago and she was going to hold a class.

Even if it killed her.

She opened the door to the classroom and sat behind the desk.

ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

IT was cold. And Elliot was shivering. She wrapped her cloak a little tighter around herself. She saw Professor Lafay...looking...sickly? sitting behind her desk. poor woman. What had happened to her, anyways? Hmm.

She chose a seat in the middle...not in the front, not in the back...and plopped down...she scanned the room...hopefully they wouldn't be cutting up animals this time around. That had be GROSS! Yuck. She nodded to the Professor.."Professor Lafay," being polite and all..yeeeeep!

oh its Erik ok 09-28-2012 04:06 AM

Nigel could see it right away when he entered the potions classroom. Professor Lafay was still looking pale. It seemed that the first student who caused any trouble would have to ingest a terrible potion. Well Nigel just walked up to her said

"Hello, Professor Lafay."

He then quietly went to a empty seat and sat down waiting for class to start.

With her bag slung on her back, Ira entered the dungeons, for the potions class. Why did the potion classes always make her feel a bit depressed? Maybe it was the dungeons, who knows? Merlins knew how the Slytherins lived her all day long!

She entered the class, a bit surprised that she was one of the early birds. And one look at Professor Lafay shocked her. Lafay seemed.. opposite of what she usually was. Pale, and non-glaring. Quite a change! Wonder what had happened?

"Er.. Good day Professor Lafay.." Should she ask if Lafay was well or not? Merlins only knew how she would react! Nope, better to stay quiet. Or not. Unable to resist herself, Ira asked, "A..Are you okay, Professor?"

Did the room just grow more cold? She wrapped her sweater a bit more close.

Ah potions...his other favorite subject.

One could only hope Gideon wasn't as disappointed in this class as he had been mildly disappointed in astronomy. But then he didn't see Lafay letting him down, the woman as much if not more of a lover of potion making as himself. So he made his way down to the dungeons quite ready for the lesson.

"Good day Professor Lafay," he greeted the woman politely though deep down he wondered if it was in fact good for her. She looked downright horrid, not that he was going to comment or even make known that he noticed a change. No doubt it would only evoke some sort of negative response from the Slytherin head of house. He then simply moved to take one of the stations at the front of the room.

Harlow took a few deep breaths as she walked to her first potions class. Professor Lafay was an experience and it was one that Harlow dreaded having, but since she wasn't a sixth year she couldn't drop the class yet.

She had heard that the professor had been in the hospital so she was bringing something to Professor Lafay that she hoped would help her recover. Everyone needed a hug when they were sick.

Harlow walked into the potions classroom and stopped as she started to shiver a bit. It was always cold in the potions classroom when the cauldrons weren't on and it took a minute for the body to adjust.

After her teeth stopped chattering she approached the Professor. "Hi Professor Lafay. I made this for you." She held out a little ceramic pot with a large cork stopper. "When I'm sick my mom makes me hot coco. So I made the dry mix for you. Just add warm milk and stir." It was a comfort thing for Harlow and she gathered the professor could use some comfort as she still looked as if she were having tea with the Grim Reaper.

West arrived and immediately noticed that the Professor wasn't looking good... but he didn't ask her how she was because obviously she wasn't good but also obviously she wouldn't beeee here if she didn't think she could deal with it. So he just greeted her politely. "Hello professor, glad you're here." True. Very true. Because she wasn't going to try to kill them with a hurricane, was she?

LilFox06 09-28-2012 05:14 AM

Potions. The class that no matter what she did, she was still horrid at. So, Anya had given up on doing well, and had decided to settle for doing below average and thinking of it as cooking the worst meal ever. ...which, surprisingly, was an improvement on how she did before.

"Hello Professor." she greeted brightly as she walked into the classroom. ...and it looked like the Professor needed all the brightness that could be given her. She looked... ill... for lack of a better term.

And Anya had seen a lot of sick people in her life.

She then took her seat and prepared herself for the lesson.

JennMarie 09-28-2012 05:20 AM

Ariana Skipped into Class.. Another year another day.. She saw the professor behind her desk and..

Oh my she did not look well at all.

She smiled kindly at the professor who she once slipped a potion to and gave her a nod "Hello Professor Lafay."

yup that was good enough right? Hopefully the professor still didn't think nor care about their singing escapade 2 years back

FearlessLeader19 09-28-2012 05:28 AM

As soon as Jory entered the Potions classroom, he noticed Professor Lafay was pale. Itwas obvious so he didn't ask her if she was feeling better or anything. "Good day, Professor,'' he told her. "I hope you'll be all better soon.''

He moved off to take a seat and wait for the class to begin.

Schroyers 09-28-2012 05:31 AM

Maxwell walked into Potions class. He was not excited. Potions being his worst subject he was actually dreading it.

He nodded to the professor, noting how ill she looked. "Hello, professor." He said and found a seat.

lazykitty 09-28-2012 05:38 AM

Emmanuelle slipped into the class as quietly as possible and took a seat at the back. She had almost decided not to come to this class, but it was her final year and she did plan on taking the NEWTs so, yeah. Looking up to the front of the class, she noticed that the professor seemed to be sick or something. But, obviously, she wouldn't have come to class if it was something contagious or anything. Right? "Hello, professor," she said, in her politest, quietest-yet-still-able-to-be-heard tone. Wouldn't want to agrivate a headache or something.

Steelsheen 09-28-2012 06:00 AM

Vickers descended into the dimness of the dungeons and rounded the corner into the Potions classroom. "Good Morning Professor Lafay--" he started as he gave her his usual polite nod when he realizes she looked rather unwell, even worse off than she was last term. "Is.... is there anything I can help you with Professor?" he murmured an offer, remembering how quickly she helped him when he was rather ill himself in this very same room.

Emzily 09-28-2012 06:30 AM

It was very... quiet in the potions classroom this morning. As soon as Theo got a proper sight of professor Lafay, it wasn't difficult to know why. She looked very ill, buuut, he wouldn't comment on that. Because at the end of the day, Lafay was still a girl and they always got hissy about their looks.

"Hi, professor...." He said quietly, and pulled up a seat next to West. No, he wouldn't say hi to his bestie. It was too risky with all this quietness.

SilverTiger 09-28-2012 06:50 AM

Only Professor Lafay would teach a lesson months after whatever it was happened to her, and the curiosity about how this lesson would go was the main reason Kendall had decided not to find something else to do. So far classes were either terrifying or interesting, anyway, so this couldn't be any worse. They wouldn't face a hurricane, at least, but she still made sure to get her hair as tightly braided back as she could by herself. She'd rather not light her hair on fire, after all, and depending on what mood the professor was in... She still had a bright grin on her face as she stepped inside the room. Starting things off good was advisable when she had questions, and one looked answered right off. Professor Lafay did not look good, but she also didn't look annoyed. Maybe class would go okay, like Herbology or CoMC as opposed to Charms.

"Hello Professor Lafay," she said, still with bright grin even though it faltered the slightest bit as she nodded her head respectfully on her way to a seat near the middle of the classroom. It wasn't worth asking how her summer had been, or any of the other polite questions people asked the professors during the first lesson of term. She didn't want the woman to die in the middle of class or anything. Even exploded cauldrons would be better than that, and she was planning on not trying to do that either.

As soon as Milton walked in the classroom door, he noticed something was off. It seemed very quiet and... glum. He looked at Lafay and saw that she seemed rather frail. She didn't look like that last year, did she? Some students seemed like they knew something though. It was quite possible, that he was out of the loop...

"Hello, professor," he greeted pleasantly with a nod. Because last year, he got in trouble for not saying hello to her. He learned something, oddly enough.

His eyes flickered around the classroom for an empty seat. They lingered on a certain Gryffindor girl for a moment too long before he finally looked away and clumsily took a seat on the opposite side of the room.

The second-year entered the classroom steadily because Cassia had heard rumors that their Head of House had just returned from that hospital which Cassia didn't like saying its name. She walked further in the room and stepped closer to the woman NOT so close. "Good day Professor. Glad to see you" ALIVE. She said cheerfully. But the woman didn't look so well. The second-year fought the urge not to stare at her head of house. She just took a quick glance at the ill-looking face then arranging her bag over her shoulder she managed a small smile before turning on her heels . She waved at Emanuelle ,West and Theo on her way to choose a seat.

and Elliot.

With a small pout, Beezus walked along the Dungeons. Unlike the previous terms, she couldn't be found casually strolling the passages anymore. Jonathan had already graduated and there wasn't any reason for her to hang out in that area. But Potions Class was still held there, hence why she was there.

Upon entering, Beezus smelled in the familiar scent of various potion ingredients from bezoars to shrivel figs. Then she turned to the Potions Mistress and Slythein Head of House, "G-good day Professor Lafay." Not really a good one because you don't look too good. She wanted to ask if the woman was alright but decided against it at the last second.

What if she wasn't in the mood? A Beezus intervention just wouldn't be appropriate.

Instead, the Ravenclaw walked off and claimed a workplace next to a fellow 'Claw, "Hey Elliot." she greeted as she sat down. Better not spill or break anything today Castell.

Princesspower 09-28-2012 07:48 AM

Potions.. with Lafay. Actually she did not dislike Lafay as much as she disliked Lafay... even if Lafay said mean things to her. Yet Lafay looked in bad shape and Sarah immidiately felt sorry for her. Maybe all her meaness was in the weight she had lost... therefore maybe she was kinder now... Keep Dreaming. Sarah turned to the professor, "Hello Professor" she hoped they were not going to dissect any animals this term... she still felt sick from the time she had to pretend to dissect that bird... YUCK, YUCK, YUCK... Sarah waved to Cassia, West, Gideon, Anya and Theo and sat down and reached for her satchel and took out her potions notebook.

sweetpinkpixie 09-28-2012 08:23 AM

and because I never got to do my dare from last term... *adds*

When Kurumi had heard that Professor Lafay was back and actually teaching, Kurumi had been surprised. Especially after seeing how distraught Sierra had been at last term's closing feast. A small part of the Gryffindor wanted to reach out to the Slytherin because Kurumi knew all to well what it was like to only be able to look at your mother, sick with some illness, and not be able to do a thing about it. Kurumi did not know the extent of the damage, but she figured she soon would...

...and it didn't look good.

Keeping a pleasant expression on her face as she took her usual station, the one she used to share with Jonathan, Kurumi looked towards Professor Lafay and for a brief moment saw her own mother. What she had looked like in the final month before...

The Gryffindor didn't finish that thought and instead forced a slightly wider smile on her lips. "Hello, professor. I...I have something for you that I meant to give you at the end of term feast last term. I'd like to give it to you at the end of today's lesson, if that is alright."

Potions class, finally. Now this class is definitely a favorite of hers or errr--- well everyone in the family that is. Juliet woke up early to get herself ready for Potions class. Today, she will finally meet the infamous Professor Lafay... Dragon Lady or whatever it is they call her.

Juliet walked inside the classroom and saw the professor a bit weird. Was she okay? She looked a bit pale and there is just that feeling. "Good day professor" she said as her eyes still stared at her, still wondering in confusion if the Potion mistress is okay. Walking towards an empty seat on the first row, she slung her bag onto the table. "A-are you...." was it okay to ask her this? "...alright?"

Gulp.

hermygirl 09-28-2012 10:39 AM

Two things struck Spike as he entered the classroom: first, Beezus was already there, and second, that Professor Lafay looked particularly frail. He bit his lip as his gaze fell on the former, before pointedly walking past the younger Ravenclaw to a desk near the back. Out of the way, out of trouble...or something like that.

He slipped his bag from his shoulder, and gave the Professor a small smile. He might still be slightly scared of her, but her teaching had got him an O in his OWL. A mark that was rather unexpected on the whole. Plus, given that she didn't look in the best of health, he respected her being here right now. "Good day, Professor," he greeted.

What gross ingredients could he distract himself with today?

Bazinga 09-28-2012 10:40 AM

Minerva walked down in the dungeons and through the potions door. She saw that many students were already here, which was odd for her she usually was one of the first when it came to potions. Looking around she recognized a few faces and then she hit one that almost made her turn and walk out the door. Maxwell actually came to a class... What was he doing here. Never mind.. never mind Minerva thought and kept walking not trying to pay any attention.

Then she froze again when she saw Professor Lafay. Usually a strong women Lafay looked weak and ill today. This didn't seem right, why was she holding class if she was sick. Maybe she should be in the hospital wing not down here in the damp dark classroom. "Hello Professor, are you feeling alright?" she asked politely as she found her seat usually seat in the front of the classroom.

RandomRaven 09-28-2012 10:51 AM

Potions time!

Believe it or not, he got Outstanding score in his Potions OWL. Maybe that's why he became a bit interested in Potions. No need to rush to the classroom since it was located at the dungeons where Slytherin common room was also there. So he didn't need to waste his time to climb upstairs. Meh, just said that you're lazy, Gerald!

The blonde guy entered the classroom at saw Professor Lafay was already there. Was she sick or something? Because she looked very pale and unhealthy. But well... even she's the Slytherin Head of House, he didn't care. He just gave a small nod and greeted her. "Good day, Professor." Then he walked to a seat at the corner.

TakemetotheBurrow 09-28-2012 11:41 AM

Potions. Ella could do potions, though sometimes the class was more frightening than it was exciting. Either way, she entered the classroom with a nervous smile on her face. Lafay, she looked quite sick. She was okay, wasn't she? Like...she wasn't going to faint during the lesson or anything? EEP. That wouldn't be good. "Hello Professor." She greeted cheerfully before heading right towards the nearest empty seat. She sat quietly, removing her parchment and quill before looking around. Merlin knew that if Lafay was still under the weather, she probably wasn't in the best mood. That explained why the classroom seemed to be so quiet, yeah?
