Hecate had just returned from St Mungo's. She was very pale, and the bags under her eyes were dark and gray. Her lips were dry and she looked as if she'd lost weight.

The healers of the third floor were not happy that she'd released herself. But Hecate Lafay was not going to remain in that horrid hospital room. She'd gotten back a few moments ago and she was going to hold a class.

Even if it killed her.

She opened the door to the classroom and sat behind the desk.

ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

"I see..." She said looking at Milton. "So you make a fuss when I forget your name, but if I forget your house... something that can be noted by which uniform you posses." She then turned to the other students. "You'd let another house take your deduction?"

"Thank you Master Stonewall, but I know what house he's in," She looked to Milton's tie she'd just held down, "Blue is the color of Ravenclaw... I wanted to see if he'd have the courage to correct me when it wasn't a bad thing for him. So, that's another 20 points. Shacklebolt. And, as the previous ones, in case I wasn't clear... from Ravenclaw." She said and smiled. "Don't forget to come to my office after class..."

Taking the leaves, Ness added her last ingredient and beamed brightly as she saw her potion turning purple. YAY! it had worked. Her skills were improving. "Sopororis." she did a semi circle with her wand, strained her potion and then eyed the commotion between Milton and the Professor. Hufflepuff? Since when was he considered that. He was way too rude to be that in Nessie's opinion.
"Incantation. And yes. It is the same." She told the girl.

Her head went back to the front when Professor Lafay continued, showing them the last steps of the potion. Before doing them herself, Kurumi added to her notes and lifted the leaves from the table and began to add them in one by one with one hand while raising her other hand.

"Um, Professor Lafay, is remembering a dream while performing Sopororis an essential step?" she asked nervously - mostly because she could only remember maybe one thing in a dream recently, if even that. "What if you can't remember a recent dream at all?"
"You day dream, don't you Hollingberry? It may not be a strong spell, but it will do the trick." She said.

"The potion will help you remember all dreams you will dream from after you ingest it, Miss Branxton, until it wears off. This strength is one week's worth of sleep. Seven days. After that, you will continue to remembers those seven days worth of dreams just as you do memories." She explained to the girl. Good question.

"What if you don't remember what? a dream for the spell? You think of a daydream. As I told Miss Branxton, it will help you remember all dreams you will dream from after you ingest it to one week later."

But then again...she was so..pretty..wouldn't anything look nice on her? *Shrugs* Logic makes sense, yeah? Totally. So she put her goggles on her face...which smelled weird. Ugh. She didn't like these things. At all.

She picked up the poppy, and then she caaaaarefully put it in...

And the potion looked..fine? She guessed? Hmph. She glanced up at Lafay..

The leaves. She needed to put the leaves in...okay? She dropped them all in, praaaaaying that it turned purple. She didn't want to start over, much less be victim to lafay's wrath...Elliot didn't want to lose her cool. Since this class seemed to be...calming. Thus far.

She took out her wand and moved it around in semi-circles...okay? She had to think of a dream? She shut her eyes, thought...of...that weird one she had told to ariana in Divination..about killing giant tea leaves...meh...and her eyes popped open! READY NOW! She muttered, "Soporis." Hopefully that worked.

She the strained her potion..and hoped..that it was right...like really hoped...and what if they didn't WANT to remember their dreams, hmmm? HMM? Elliot didn't really mind NOT remembering them...they were weird!

Of course, she had a feeling, even before one of the Puffs tried to correct the professor, that they still were going to end up losing the points, but that didn't make it any less funny. She didn't really show her amusement, though. She wasn't about to do that, but at least it had helped her forget a few of her worries. At least temporarily, although she couldn't quite entirely forget her worries that they really were just brewing a poison. I wonder if I should find a bezoar, she thought, turning her goggle-covered eyes toward the professor again as the demonstration continued.

At least incantations meant the lesson might be almost over. It meant the potion-brewing was, in any case, and she'd found out what the extra ingredient was. It wasn't what she thought, but then it made sense. Plus, now she knew how to pronounce the name of those leaves, even if she still didn't know what they were. They were going to disintegrate anyhow. Picking them up, she dropped them into the potion, watching as one by one they disintegrated and turned the potion more purple as they went. It bothered her that all thecolor reminded her of was being upset, but she had to finish. Spells were cool, at least, so she could ignore the color of the potion. What if you can't remember any of your recent dreams?, she wondered, half-raising her hand but then dropping it as she pretended she was only releasing her wand from its holster again. She didn't want to risk a stupid question in this lesson. She remembered enough of one, so that was what she thought of as she moved her wand in a semi-circle over the cauldron. "Sopororis," she cast.

No change, but it didn't seem like ther was supposed to be one. So she merely returned her wand to its holster before straining the potion. Now all that was left was to hear if they in fact were going to have to test them.

Dreamer's Elixir-something? (either lets a person remember or forget their dreams)

Ingredients:
Water
1 cup valerian root
half a cup of Kava Kava (?)
1 berry of deadly nightshade
8 leaves of devil's weed
1 cup of Poison Hemlock seeds (devil’s porridge)
1 poppy flower
10 leaves of Calea Zacatechichi (?)

Steps:
1. clean cauldron (important)
2. fill cauldron to the neck with water (basically full)
3. light the fire underneath cauldron to boil the water
4. once the water boils, add the valerian and kava kava (mixes easier if in liquid form)
5.using a clean, 18 carat gold needle, pierce the nightshade berry, making sure to get a single drop of juice on the tip of the needle
6.set the berry on fire, using the magical burner under cauldron, burning it up entirely along with any remaining juice not on the needle
7. let the drop on the needle fall into the potion without touching anything other than the needle
8.burn any remaining juice from needle, clean it, and return to supplies
9.using silver knife, slice each leaf of devil’s weed carefully along the vein
10.place sliced leaves carefully into cauldron/potion
11.dip pestle into the liquid, shaking excess off so it’s just moist
12.place hemlock seeds into mortar, then crush with moist pestle until mushy (“paste-like consistency”)
13.spoon the hemlock seed paste into cauldron with a wooden spoon
14.put goggles on so fumes don’t make you sleepy
15.place RED poppy flower on top of the liquid in cauldron, letting the heat from the potion wilt it and sink it to the bottom of the cauldron
16. if using potion to forget/not experience dreams, stop here
17.add Calea Zacatechichi leaves whole to potion, as they will disintegrate
18.(potion should be purple-colored) wave wand in a semi-circle motion over potion, thinking about a recent dream, then cast “Sopororis”
19.strain potion before using

But did she say twenty points from Hufflepuff? Um actually she did. Cassia of course wasn't going to point that out. Who cares if the Huffies lost extra points. Not like they seemed to care considering they have lost so many since the beginning of term. But it was weird that Professors seemed to be confusing students and houses. The muggle studies professor confused Seirra for a Gryffindor last lesson. Weird..

Back to potion brewing which was coming to an end.

Cassia reached for the leaves. What if her potion didn't turn purple? Will she have to brew the potion again. Meaning that she had to slice those weeds again! Hopefully not. Maybe Cassia could paint the potion purple...no? Surely the potions master wouldn't be fooled by this. So let's see.

The second-year added the leaves and watched the liquid closely. Please turn purple..please..please...pleases! She looked away just giving some time that maybe the potion needed. Potions did need some privacy and time, right? Musing at the classroom's floor which by the way was clean, Cassia decided that it was time for her to check in case the potion turned purple or not. She really hoped that she brewed it well. Because first she didn't feel like brewing it again. And second she liked the idea of having the ability to remember a particular dream.

She gathered her courage and looked at the potion. PURPLE! The second-year jumped from her seat excitedly. Can she squeak? Maybe if she did Professor Lafay would deduce some points from the lions. Hehe. Though she controlled herself and didn't squeak nor did she cheer. The jump was enough. She sat back on her seat and reached for her wand. She now needed to think of a dream which she wanted to remember.

Moving the wand in a semi-circle motion, Cassia was thinking about the dream she had a week ago. She of course only remembered glimpses."Sopororis," She uttered still moving her wand. SO now she was to remember it right away or not yet?

WHEW! IT'S PURPLE, ALRIGHT!

Relieved, Kat exhaled. Oh thank Merlin she didn't have to throw it all out. If she had to, it would've been the FIRST time to happen to her. She never had a potion made by her thrown out. And she would NEVER want that to happen. Nuh - uh.

This time, the Slytherin took out her wand. Last step. You BETTER make this one come out as planned. Kat positioned her wand. "Sopororis," she said with the semicircle hand movement. She did her best in thinking of her dream last night. That Slytherin won the Quidditch Cup for this term. Finally taking it away from those hands of the Ravenclaws. Oooooh the joy!

And she was done. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

Right, poppies. Picking up the flower, Elise promptly dropped the red bloom onto the liquid and watched it wilt and dissolve. Fascinating.

Oh. Time to perform spells. Oh, it's not. They had to add more poisonous leaves into the potion. Was the woman INSANE? Dropping the leaves anyway, she bit her lip. She was not trying this potion. Waiting a while, she noticed the potion turn a lovely aubergine colour. Yay, it was purple.

Trying hard to remember her dream, she settled for the one she'd had about 2 nights ago. It was the most recent one she could remember. "Sopororis," she muttered, moving her wand in the direction Lafay had specified before stepping away.

She was done, yes?

In her dream she was the Gryffindor prefect just like Kurumi. That was an awesome dream. Then she strained her potion. yes it looked right.

She almost raised her hand to see if she could save a little to do that with, but decided it was best to go to the lab later and make more.

Minerva took the leaves and dropped them into the cauldron she watched as the potion turned purple. It was nice to have her favorite color come for a potion she was making. This made her smile just a bit, picking up her wand she thought about that dream at the lake. How she had fallen in and couldn't swim, but everyone laughed and pointed and no one helped her. She frowned even thinking about it. Doing a semicircle around the cauldron with her wand and "Sopororis". It was time for the straining, Minerva always felt herself get excited when she was almost finished with a potion. Straining the potion she wondered what they would do with it. Use it on themselves, use it on others.. There were so many things they could do..

He moved his wand in a semicircle motion, think about the dream with the eagle and the badger. He then said "Sopororis" Once he finished that. He strained it. Was he done now?

Turning her attention back to the task at hand, Ella scribbled down the last of the notes. She eyed them carefully before setting down her quill. Right, so now she'd need to add Calea Zacatechichi leaves. Whole...she had to remember that part.

The third year picked them up one by one, adding ten leaves to her cauldron and watching as each one disintegrated. She held her breath when she was done, waiting for some kind of color change. Come onnnn.....She'd followed the steps exactly. It had to change.

POTIONS
Dreamer's Elixir

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup of valerian root
  • half a cup of Kava Kava
  • 1 deadly nightshade berry (Highly toxic)
  • 8 leaves of devil's weed
  • 1 cup of Poison Hemlock seeds
  • 1 poppy flower
  • 10 leaves of Calea Zacatechichi

Directions:

1.) Clean the cauldron (Scourgify)
2.) Fill the cauldron with water, neck deep (Aguamenti)
3.) Light fire underneath the cauldron (Incendio) until at a good boil
4.) Add the Valerian root and Kava Kava
5.) Get an 18 carat gold needle, clean it and pierce the Deadly nightshade berry, leaving a drop of it's juice on the gold needle part. Make sure the juice won't touch any part of your skin.
6.) Set the berry on fire using the magical burner.
7.) Place the gold needle with berry juice droplets over the cauldron and wait until the drop to fall into it.
8.) Once the juice drop fell into the cauldron, burn any excess juice from the gold needle, re-clean it, and return to the kit.
9.) Use a silver knife to slice the veins of each Devil's weed leaf precisely. May need to start over if missed.
10.) Put the sliced weeds into the cauldron gently.
11.) Dip the pestle in the cauldron, shake a bit, so it's just wet and not dripping.
12.) Put the Poison Hemlock seeds into the mortar, crush them into a mush.
13.) When it's a paste-like consistency, spoon it in with a wooden spoon.
14.) Get some red poppies, use goggles for protection from fumes (it will make you sleepy).
15.) Drop the poppies on top of the cauldron, let the potion wilt it on it's own and it will sink to the bottom of the cauldron.
16.) Add the Calea Zacatechichi leaves into the cauldron (color should turn to purple).
17.) When the potion turned purple, pick up your wand, move in a semi-circle motion, think about a dream you've recently had and say "Sopororis". Then strain it. The potion will allow you not only to dream, but to remember them vividly.

--- End ---

Befelda hurriedly grabbed the Calea leaves after putting down her parchment and quill. She added the leaves into her cauldron and waited for the potion to turn purple. She's frowning. Why is it not turning to purple? I know I didn't make a mistake!, she said to herself. Suddenly, the potion was starting to turn purple just what she's been waiting. Smile came from her face. She then took her wand, made a semi-circle motion and thought of the dream she recently had. She remembered her last dream with her Dad teaching her how to fly on a broom. Then she carefully said, "Sopororis". Then strained it.

YES! My first brewed potion! It was fun!.

She picked up her own red poppy then dropped it onto the top of the brew.

Twenty points from...Hufflepuff?! BWAH HAHA! Puffs unfairly punished--that was GREAT! Although, now Sierra remembered that this was actually the second time points had been taken from the wrong house. First, she'd lost points for the Gryffindors in Muggle Studies. Well, actually...she'd EARNED them, which was even worse. now, Shacklewhatever had lost points for the Puffers.

Add that to Myrtle being outside her bathroom, house tables disappearing, creatures dying, and books being ripped to shreds. What was going ON?!

She glared at Milton. If he so dare caused any trouble over this, Sierra would HEX HIM!

She reached for the Calea Zacatechichi leaves and added them whole into the brew. She peered into the brew and grinned as it turned a purplish shade. Withdrawing her wand, she moved it in a semi-circle motion, remembering the dream about the labyrinth all the while.

"Sopororis!" she said then she strained her brew.

Okay, just focus and that won't happen. Pao scribbled down what she was saying about the poppy, including the bit about the red color. Grabbing his goggles, he fastened them securely on his head before reaching for the poppy. He dropped the flower into the potion, then pulled his face away from the fumes. He wasn't taking any chances, and she'd already said it would melt in by itself.

What? That's not fair! He's not even IN Hufflepuff! Clearly this professor had a deep bias against his House. This didn't sit right with him, though. If anything, Ravenclaw should be losing points. And if this was payback for Captain Ness getting splashed, that was still unfair. That had been an accident.

Internally grumbling, he scratched down the un-spellable ingredient name and made a note that this was the extra step to change the potion's purpose. Taking the leaves in hand, he threw them into his potion and desperately hoped it would turn purple. Nothing.. nothing... wait, maybe that's...? Yes, it's turning purple! He grinned despite his anger at Lafay. He had done it!

Sticking his hand inside his robe pocket, he unholstered his wand and prepared to perform the spell. At least, he HOPED he could perform this spell. This was a complicated potion, so the spell might be too hard for a first year. Pao ran over the pronunciation in his head several times before moving his wand in a half circle and saying, "Sopororis!"

Though he didn't notice any discernible change, he was fairly certain he'd done it correctly. No one else seemed to be having anything much happen after they had cast the spell, so he wasn't too worried. Finally, he grabbed the cauldron and began to strain the final product. When finished, he set the final brew back on the table and waited to see what he should do with it.

Okay, got it. She slipped them over her head and onto her eyes. Dragging the small plate with the poppy flower closer, she held it over the cauldron and slowly tilted it so the poppy flower rolled into the cauldron with a small POP. Behind the goggles, she watched as the liquid swirled on itself and swallowed the poppy flower in, bubbled for a few times and then continued to be noisy.

Aaaaand it was like Lafay was actually talking to Louisa in person. Blocking out nightmares, it was the potion she was looking for! She looked down at the cauldron and stared for a couple of moments.

She needed this so bad, what harm could it be if she scooped some in an empty vial and hid it in her bag for later use? If it really worked, she could do it for as long as her memories were vivid then hopefully time would heal that scarred mind of hers. The Ravenclaw looked at the professor, kept looking until Lafay turned her attention to Milton... AND TOOK 20 POINTS? From Hufflepuff. If Louisa wasn't about to sneak some potion into an empty vial, she would've grinned. But today, she seized the chance and poured some potion into one of the empty vials put on her work table, quickly dragging it to the side with the rest of the ingredients. Camouflaging. Hopeful camouflaging.

Ahem.

Clumsily she grabbed the leaves of Calea Zacatechichi and dumped them into the cauldron. Slowly they started to disintegrate and the liquid kept swirling and bubbling, very subtly changing color from shade to shade until it finally settled on purple. Louisa's mouth twitched into a small nervous smile, her potion was successful so the vial was safe to take. Good to know!

Okay, so then the spell. Right. Think of a dream that she wanted to remember... ummm... uhhh.... squeezing her eyes shut, she tried to think of any trivia dream that wouldn't be shuddering if remembered vividly. Maybe the one where Johnny and herself fly a kite and then turn out to be in the middle of Diagon Alley going to buy him a wand. As her mind was fixated on that, she moved her wand in a semi circle motion and uttered, "Sopororis.."

Not that she wanted Ravenclaw to lose points though, not at all. It was all very curious...

She cleared her head of it and move on to the next step. She picked up the leaves that remained on her desk and put them into her potion, all at once. She hoped it didn't matter how fast they went in. Lafay would've told them if it needed to be one at a time, so she relaxed as they disintegrated away. Her potion began to change color. It became more and more saturated with color until it finally ended on a shade very similar to an eggplant. Maybe a little lighter. She hoped that was correct and started re-visualizing the dream she'd told in Divination. She thought it was a nice enough dream to try the potion with.

Thinking back to the tree and the rain, the horse and the sky...she made a semicircle with her wand over the potion and said the strange word as instructed. "Sopororis." Then she strained the brew from the cauldron and tidied up her workspace. Please don't make us actually drink them she pleaded internally. She thought she'd done an all right job, but actually trusting herself enough to drink it was still a bit nerve-wracking. What if she poisoned herself by accident? Could they save her in time?

Certainly he wasnt in this to forget those precious memories that would luckily re-assert themselves in his dreams, so Vickers continued to add all the Calea Zacatechichi leaves into the cauldron, watching them disintegrate into the mixture.

He peered curiously into his mixture, nervously anticipating the change in color. It was darkening... until it approached that purple color. As soon as it did so Vickers took hold of his wand, kept his mother's memory clearly in the forefront of dreams he wants to remember with more clarity then made a half-mood wandstroke over his pot before quietly uttering "Sopororis." Curious gaze into the pot again. It looks... done. Time to strain?

He took a strainer and started ladling the potion through it, to be caught by an already scourgified glass underneath. Was that it? Were they also supposed to test this?

Cardigan was just too excited for this potion.and possibly make it out of class.. If that was to be possible, she would need the directions. Quickly taking a loose piece of parchment from her bag and a quill, she began to right down everything they've done so far, from the person next to her's parchment, just as a guide:
SPOILER!!: Dreamer's Elixr notes

Cardigan Johansson, Slytherin

Dreamer's Elixr

(to either forget or remember your dreams)

Ingredients:

•1 cup of valerian root(best as liquid, for mixing)
•half a cup of Kava Kava(same as valerian root)
•1 deadly nightshade/belladonna berry
•8 leaves of devil's weed
•1 cup of Poison Hemlock seeds
•1 poppy flower
•10 leaves of Calea Zacatechichi

Steps:

Step 1: Clean your Cauldron(Scourgify), fill it with water(Aguamenti) and light a fire underneath(Incendio).
Step 2: Add in the cup of Valerian root.
Step 3: Add in the half cup of Kava Kava.
Step 4: Using the gold needle from your potions kit, poke a hole in the belladonna berry and let a drop of the juice in the potion. Burn/clean all the excess stuff.
Step 5: Using the silver knife from your potions kit, cut the Devil's weed right on the vein. Do the same for all 8, and drop them in the potion.
Step 6: Dip Pestle into potion, make sure it's wet but not dripping wet.
Step 7: Put the cup of poison hemlock seeds in the mortar, and make a paste of them with the pestle. Pour it in the potion.
Step 8: Put your goggles on, an add the poppy flower, best red, to the potion. Wait for it to sink to the bottom of the cauldron.(At this point, it can stop you from dreaming.)
Step 9:*Add the 10 Calea Zacatechichi leaves to the potion.(It should turn purple.)
Step 10: Top it off with a semi circle wand movement, and say*Sopororis, your incantation. Try to remember a dream you've had. Strain the potion, and then you're done!

Oh so it's time for the Calea leaves! Cardigan slid her goggles off her head, and set them to the side. She picked up the Calea*Zacatechichi leaves, and scattered them in one by one. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten! Great! The potion turned purple, like it was supposed to! Taking her parchment up, she checked to see what was to be done next. Semi circle wand movement... Sopororis... Strain... And done!!

She picked up her wand, and completed the semi circle movement, while saying the incantation, Sopororis. She had repeated it to herself a few times before, just so it would work out alright. It wouldn't be fun to start over!! Immediately proceeding that, Cardigan began to strain the potion, being quick but careful about it. She tried to remember last night's dream...: She was...flying on her broom....Quaffle in hand....on the...Quidditch pitch? Yeah. She was almost to the...goals, she threw the ball, and she.....she scored!!!!! And won the game for....Slytherin!!! What an amazing dream....

And that was it!!! That was the potion! She wondered what they would be doing with the potion, as of now. Would they be taking it?? Probably not. It wasn't nighttime yet. They would most likely be bottling it up.

But, only time will tell!

He shook his head to keep the thoughts that threatened to impede him away. There was no need for them and he needed to move on with the potion as Lafay wanted the dream-reminding type potion.

One...two...three...four...five...six...seven...ei ght...nine...ten.

Now all ten Calea Zacatechichi leaves were in the potion after he added them, slowly but surely disolving one by one into the surrounding liquid. There was a look of relief on his face as the potion within his cauldron turned purple like it was supposed to. Thank Merlin...everything had been done and worked correctly.

He thought long and hard of one of his recent dreams, his wand moving in the required semi-circular motion. "Sopororis," he said in incantation, adding the final piece to the puzzle. Gideon then switched wand for strainer that had been previously cleaned by a quick scourgify, the seventh year proceeding to strain his potion and finishing up.

She picked up the poppy flower before dropping it in for safe measures she covered her mouth with her free hand. She dropped it in and watched as it wilted and slowly sank to the bottom of the cauldron.

Nerida looked over once again at Milton, that was his name right? She had never really talked to him, she only knew he was the Ravenclaw Captain. It seems he had guts and really wanted to show them against Professor Lafay. Which was pretty wicked in Nerida's eyes. Wait did she just say Hufflepuff? Oh well its not like they were losing points, so she would just keep her mouth shut!

Nerida took the ten Calea Zacatechichi leaves and dropped them into the potion. Watching them dissolve she noticed the potion began to change colors just like the Professor said, the potion was now purple. She closed her eyes and thought about one of the recent dreams she had in the past couple of days.

She thought long and hard about the past dream before moving her wand in a semi-circular motion and said "Soporois!" After she finished performing the spell she strained it and waited for further instructions.

Hannah could go for a nap right about now.
She took the red colored poppie and dropped it into the potion. she watched it wilt and sink to the bottom of the cauldron.

They were almost done! It was always an accomplishmnet to make it out of Potions alive. She paid close attention to Lafay. She soaked in every word...afraid of missing a cruical step. She then took the Calea Zacatechichi leaves and added them whole into the cauldron. She watched them as they disintegrated into the potion.

Hannah eyed the potion almost willing it with her eyes to turn the right shade. She didn't want to have to start all over. The work didn't bother her so much, but the embarrassment of not getting it done right the first time would be the thing that she would struggle with. Right before her very eyes the color of the potion slowly became purple. Whew! She had managed to get it right the first time!

She decided to practice the incantation a few times just to make sure that she had everything down pat. It would be a waste to get this far and mess up over a silly incantation. "Sopororis, Sopororis, Sopororis." She felt confident. She then picked her wand and moved it in a semicircle motion all the ehile thinking about her last dream. "Sopororis."

There she had done everything just right. Now what to do?

She eyes the girl who was trying the incantation over and over again... well, at least she was practicing. "Alright. Your potion should now be clear and transparent like water. If that's the case, it's finished. Drain it into a potion bottle, but before bringing it up front to me, take five drops and bottle it into a vial for your homework. If it is not clear, leave the failed potion in your cauldrons and take one the vials on my desk for your homework." She then turned to the board and cast on it, changing what it read to the homework. "Take your potion, and then write down the most vivid dream you have during that week. Tell me how you feel in the dream, and what happened. Fifteen points. Due one week from exactly now."

She returned to her desk and then looked up at the kids and finally added. "Dismissed."

Ella didn't like seeing anyone lose points, but it was oddly satisfying to see Professor Lafay call out Milton for letting another house possibly take his deduction. She bit her lip, wondering if feeling that way made her a bad person too. Meh. Too much thinking again. Best to focus on potions.

The third year listened as Professor Lafay announced that if the potions were clear, they were finished. Looking down at her own cauldron, she was pleased to see that hers was in fact clear. Meep. She'd done it! Awesome!

Taking a potion bottle, Ella cleaned it before draining her potion very carefully into it. She then grabbed a dropper and a vial, setting them in front of her and cleaning those too. Picking up the dropper, the third year filled it and then added five drops to the vial. She then placed the vial in her bag. Right. And she needed to write down the assignment too. Scribble. Scribble. Scribble.

Gathering her things, Ella double checked that her table was clean and that she had put the tools she'd used back in the right places. She then grabbed the potion bottle and took it up to Professor Lafay, placing it down on her desk. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor." She said with a small smile before heading out the door. It was definitely time for some fresh air.

Clear and transparent. Hannah peered into her cauldron and sure enough it was just that. She drained the contents of the cauldron into a potion bottle. Homework? Yes...of course. She took five drops of the potion and bottled it into a vial.

She still was not keen on sharing her dreams. She didn't like it when she had to share her dream with Ethan in Divination granted she only told him the good stuff. Surely she would have a nice happy dream to report on. She took the potion up to the professor.

Back at her desk she cleaned up her area and vial in hand headed for the door. "Thanks for the lesson professor." Without a backwards glance she was out of there!

SIGH. NOW what was she going off about?

........... Oh. Milton stared at Lafay with a rather annoyed expression. Why didn't he even think about that? And now he just lost 40 points from Ravenclaw. Ugh. His stare hardened into a glare the longer she spoke. "Yes, Professor," he grumbled.

Still glaring, Milton looked down at his cauldron to see that his potion was indeed clear. Good. Milton grabbed a bottle and carefully drained it into it. Then he grabbed a vial and poured a few drops into that. He popped a cork in the neck and then tucked it into his pocket before going up and handing the bottle up to Lafay with another glare.

Milton cleaned his cauldron and packed up all his stuff before... heading for Lafay's office. This outta be fun...

And see? That was why, in spite of the fact that ol' smelly Lafay knew a bit about Potions, she was still a rubbish professor. She was all about the gotcha and the goading, pushing students she didn't like, like Milton, into misbehaving and then acting like it was rational and adult behavior. Heck, Vivi Branxton had terrible impulses, but she still would never do that to a person. It was cruel.

Somehow, she managed to bite her tongue as she strained her potion, feeling no victory in the fact that her result was perfectly clear as instructed. Five drops went into a vial, which in turn went into Vivi's bag, and the rest of the phial was labelled with Vivi's name and placed on the Professor's desk.

"Professor, isn't there some danger in remembering a dream as if it was an actual memory? Wouldn't you confuse the two and think the dream was something that had actually happened?" And also... a dream journal? She didn't want to share her private dreams with anyone, and least of all a professor. What if she dreamed about something embarrassing?

Now Cassia had to give that for Lafay..she could reason with people. And that boy should've seen that coming because he was a Ravvie and they are supposed to be smart. Pfft..Guess not.

Anyway, back to the potion. Cassia glanced down at her own cauldron to see that indeed it was transparent like water. How did that happen? Eh..like she cared! The important thing that she did the potion right! Eeeeep!

The second-year reached for a vial and took the spoon. Three...Four...Five. Should she add an extra one just in case? She did add a sixth drop and closed the vial. Then she emptied the potion into a bottle and rose to her feet.

Stepping by Lafay's desk, Cassia flashed the woman a grin and placed the bottle on the desk. "Bye Professor." She said before heading towards the door.

Minerva couldn't help but feel the punishment fit the crime on that one. She didn't like seeing people lose points, but if your not even going to say that the professor got the wrong house, then well.. It should be an issue once the professor finds out.

Turning to her potion, Minerva noticed it was exactly at the professor said it should be. Clear and transparent. She poured five drops into a vial and the rest into the potion bottle. Pointing her wand she cleaned her cauldron and her work area. Then she wrote down her homework in her parchment.

Heading up to the front of class she placed the potion bottle on the desk. "Have a great day professor. Thanks for the interesting lesson." she gave Professor Lafay one last smile and hoped the professor felt better soon and then left the classroom.

Oh, Merlin. Now Milton has lost Ravenclaw double the amount of points he was suppose to lose. But Nigel was happy he was still living and Lafay now knew his last name. that is always a plus.

Nigel looked down at his potion and noticed that it was clear and tranparent. He then drained it into his potion bottle. He then did as instructed and took five drops and bottles it into a separate vial for his homework. He put the separate vial in his bag and cleaned up his work station

Once finished cleaning up. He went to the front of the class, gave Lafay his potion, and said "Thanks for the lesson Professor Lafay". He left the class thinking about what kind of dreams he would have when he takes the potion.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Jory noticed the glare Milton gave him and raised an eyebrow. He wasn't going to let his House take the fall for something that wasn't any Hufflepuff student's fault.

He looked down at his Potion which was transparent. He placed it into a vial but not before taking the five drops in another vial, then he quickly wrote down the homework. The badger then cleaned up his cauldron and made sure his surrounding was clean before taking the vial to Proffesor Lafay. "Thanks for the interesting lesson, Professor,'' he said.

Clear and transparent like water, hmm? Sierra looked into her cauldron and grinned when she noted that yes, it wasclear and transparent like water. Perfect. She began the process of draining the potion into a bottle. When it was all in there, she stuck her dropper into the brew and withdrew five drops. Squeezing the dropper, she released the potion into a spare vial then corked it.

She jotted down the homework then brought her vial to her mother. "Awesome lesson," she said. As usual. Returning to her station, she scourgified her area clean, clean all her tools, and then packed her belongings.

"The potion will help you remember all dreams you will dream from after you ingest it, Miss Branxton, until it wears off. This strength is one week's worth of sleep. Seven days. After that, you will continue to remembers those seven days worth of dreams just as you do memories."
She explained to the girl. Good question.

Eliza was really agitated with Milton for losing so many house points. He should've just kept quiet and let it go! Maybe had she or another Ravenclaw spoken up about his correct house, Lafay might've spared them the extra deduction due to their own moral weight. Then again maybe not. She seemed pretty bent on humiliating the boy.

She looked at the potion in her cauldron with eyes full of wonder. It did appear to be clear and transparent...but she really would still feel more comfortable using the professor's batch. Better safe than sorry. She strained her potion into a bottle and instead of collecting drops from her own brew, she walked up to Lafay's desk, turned in her potion and picked up a sample vial. So that the professor didn't think she had ignored her directions, she said politely and quietly, "Professor, my potion looks fine, but if it's all right with you, I'd rather do the assignment with yours. She held the pre-made vial delicately, clinging to the hope that it would be allowed. "Just in case, you know? This is the first time I've ever made a potion..." She said shyly.

She turned to collect the rest of her things when she remembered to add, "Oh, and thank you for the lesson." She smiled and added, "And I..." Lafay was probably tired of hearing it, but, "I hope you get well soon." She gave another small smile and packed her things to leave.

WHAT THE! MILTON! GASP!

Louisa was grateful for the distraction earlier, but taking more points. Ughh. He knew! He knew that she'd take points from him if he mouthed back and yet he did it. That was purely Gryffindor-ish of him and unacceptable. Gah. The Head Girl kept her hawky gaze on the back of his head all the while as professor Lafay explained their homework and dismissed them.

Grumbling under her breath, Louisa slipped drops into a vial and pocketed it before pouring the rest of the potion into a potion bottle and smacked a tag on it before writing down her name. When the students started to file out of class, and when the seventh year thought it was safe to sneak in her own vial that she hid among the ingredients before. Trying to look casual, she started toward the door giving professor Lafay a guilty nod without meeting her eyes.

The homework? Yep, that was going to be embarrassing!

A Poop * k8 *

Glancing down at her potion, Elliot hooooped it would be clear. HOPED. OKAY! Wheeeww! It was. Thank Merlin. She had done it right! Yes! She had to hold in the MAJOR eye rolling she wanted to do..Milton...loosing points...ugh. How stupid could he be?! Just because he was quidditch captain, he thought he could be disrespectful to a professor? Right, Milton, riiight.

She slowly drained the potion into a bottle, wanting to NOT make a major mess! She took the five drops, as instructed, into a vial and slipped it into her robes' pocket. Better not lose that...or else...Lafay would probably be annoyed if someone came and asked for some more, just to do homework..which, speaking of, she was NOT looking forward to. Shoot, she was NOT writing down her most vivid dream..she was writing down the LEAST EMBARRASSING one...yeah, good plan.

She brought up the finished potion to the front, and wondered...hey, what does Lafay DO with all these potions, hmm? Does she sell them? Or even look at them? Throw them away? Weird. And what about the people who did it completely wrong?! Where did THEIR potions go? Her sudden curiosity was buzzing, and she would probably be pondering just that for the rest of the day! She handed over her potion and went back to her spot, cleaned up her area, and slipped out, her brain pounding away with all of the things she had to do...today.

Watching awkwardly as Professor Lafay went mild dragon lady on Milton and tried to turn her attention back to her potion as she continued to add the ten leaves. Once those were all in, Kurumi's attention was back on Professor Lafay when she said that even a day dream was alright.

....and called her Hollingberry.

Did she know that her and Sierra were 'cool' now? No need for the scary Hollingberry calling now, yes? Please?

"Oh, um, thank you professor," Kurumi blushed as a few very vivid daydreams came to mind. Closing her eyes for a moment to try and focus, Kurumi performed Sopororis as instructed and then waited to see whether or not the potion turned clear or not. After a few moments the Gyffindor was relieved to find that her potion had turned to the consistence of water and poured it into her clean bottle and took the 5 drops required for their assignment.

Her violet eyes widened quite a bit when she heard what their homework was. This could either be very therapeutic for Kurumi - if her dream was about her mother - or very awkward...if it was about baking cookies and other things. Biting her lip, Kurumi wrote the details down and began to gather her things up. Once her station was clean, Kurumi was about to head out the door when she remembered that she had asked to deliver something to the Potions Mistress.

Shuffling her feet, Kurumi made her way towards the front of the room and rummaged through her bag for a moment. "Professor Lafay, this is what I wanted to give you," she said as she set a small box on the desk. "I...hope things work out."

Wow. She had been testing him all along! Pao was gratified to note that his House would not be losing so many points in such a completely unjust manner. He did feel a bit sorry for the Eagles, but at least their points were from a student who was actually a member of Ravenclaw.

He hadn't even noticed his potion turn color in his indignation over the the Ravenclaw-Hufflepuff point debacle. Sure enough, clear as water! Which was probably because almost the whole thing WAS water, but still. As instructed, he drained it into a bottle. Then, taking a small vial, he counted out five drops. One... two... His tongue was out in concentration as he measured the correct dose. Five. There! My first potion is done! He was glowing with evident pride at his accomplishment. He may be in Hufflepuff, but the Hadley side of the family's Eagle blood still ran strong.

To round off his notes, he wrote this last step and color change. Then he cleaned up his area and securely stashed his vial of potion in his bag with the rest of his things. Safe and sound, he thought, patting the bag that hung around his shoulder. Before leaving the classroom, he dropped off his potion sample and gave the professor a tentative smile to thank her for the lesson. He didn't want to saying anything, though. She probably just wanted to go back home and rest after all that excitement.

Ethan became vaguely aware of some sort of argument between the Claw captain and Lafay. Meh.. he was not fond at all of distractions.. especially when brewing potions, and even more especially when working with poisonous ingredients. Still, his gaze drifted in their direction.. whoa, that was a bold move. Ethan was slightly impressed that the boy stood up for himself, though he was sure it was a dangerous move. He turned back to the potion, pulling on his goggles... 40 points from Ravenclaw? He glanced back over to the scene, then shrugged. He still thought the points system at this school was kinda dumb. Though he was somewhat happy that his house was still in the lead..

Ethan picked up the poppy flower and dropped it onto the top of his potion, watching it wilt and slowly sink. He then picked up each of the Calea Zacatechichi leaves and dropped them, one by one, into his potion. He watched as the leaves disintegrated and his potion slowly turned purple. Nodding to himself as he noted that the potion was brewed correctly, Ethan picked up his wand and waved it in a semicircle. As he thought about that bizarre dream with the bridge, he uttered, "Sopororis."

He then strained his potion, noting it was now clear, and poured it into a bottle. Pulling out a vial and eyedropper, Ethan put several drops into the vial, corking both the vial and bottle. He spent a few minutes at his table, cleaning up his supplies. Gathering his things, the boy set the bottle on Lafay's desk and eyed the homework assignment. The fifteen year old frowned. He didn't like the idea of sharing his dreams, yet again.. they always seemed to be far too personal, and this had to be in detail. Sighing lightly, he headed towards the door after saying, "Good day, Professor."

When Professor said that the potion should be in a clear, water-like base, she quickly looked at her potion. It was clear! She took 5 drops of it and put them in a vial. Drained the rest of the potion in a potion bottle.

She then took her quill and parchment and wrote down the homework at once. She don't want to miss that first homework.

SPOILER!!: Homework
POTIONS
Homework (15 pts.)
Due a week from exactly now

* Take the potion and write down the most vivid dream you have during the week, tell how you feel and what happened.

After taking down the homework, she placed her things inside her bag and cleaned her workstation before leaving. "Scourgify!" she casted.

She grabbed the potion bottle and headed to the Professor. "Here is the potion, Professor. Thanks for the lesson. I had a lot of fun. 'Till next time, Professor. You have a good day ahead!", Befelda said to the Professor with a sweet smile on her face.

Befelda was relieved. Another subject done.

Belle's potion was transparent. She drained the potion into a bottle, then she added five drops into a vial for her homework. It was quite clear that it was hard to see if it was in the vial. Then after she put it into her bag, she brought her potion up to the desk for a grade. Then she copied down the homework into her notebook and put it away.
Then Belle said "Scourgify!" it was all cleaned her workspace. It was nice to see it at this state. Then she turned to the professor and said, "Thank you very much for a wonderful lesson professor. I had a fun time." Belle said with a smile and left the room.

Ira nodded simply. Daydreams would do. Ira day dreamed sometimes.. actually a lot! Right now, it was all about Quidditch Cup and all. And one week was more than enough. The potion was fine.

Ira looked into her cauldron. Yep, it was clear and transparent as required. So, the potion completed correctly, she packed up her things. Taking her vial and dropper from her bag, she poured some drops of the potion into the vial. And then drained the rest into a potions bottle and labelled it.

Homework? Ira groaned lightly and noted it down. At least she had a week to do it!

Slinging her bag on her shoulders, Ira proceeded to the front to turn in her potions bottle to professor Lafay. "Thanks for the lesson, professor Lafay!" Ira said, and then walked out of those dark dungeons.

Nerida sighed forty points from Ravenclaw. She looked down at her potion nervous she really wanted her potion to have gone well. Relieved, the potion was clear. She scourgified her potion bottle before pouring the potion into the bottle. She then scourgified her vial and then took five drops from the potion and added it into the vial. She wrote down the homework into her potion journal and into her homework journal. Class dismissed, cool.

She scourgified her utensils and clean her cauldron. She then clean the rest of her workspace. She put away her journal and grabbed her bag swinging it over her shoulder. She grabbed the bottle and headed up to the Professor. "Here you go, Professor. Thanks for the wonderful lesson Professor." Now time for the homework...

Kendall honestly was a bit disappointed that not only had the points loss thing been corrected, but Milton had lost even more just for not having said anything. Simply because it kind of seemed like it was a trap. Professor Lafay had wanted him to stop talking back, but then she took points away for doing as she'd said. It would've been fairer if she'd taken the points away for the glares, but she wasn't about to say anything and risk losing points herself. Instead, she just listened as questions had been answered. At least I got my question about if you can't remember any dreams answered, she thought, leaning forward to peer inside her cauldron to check her potion. She hadn't known it was supposed to be clear when she'd strained it, after all, so she hadn't checked. And luckily, it was. At least, it looked like water to her, although she had the sneaking suspicion it didn't taste like water too.

Taking a bottle and a small vial out of her supplies, she Scourgified them out of habit. Along with a dropper, which she promptly used to siphon five dropps into the vial, which got corked and carefully slipped into her bag. She might not want to actually test it, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to still go through with finishing the lesson. She thought of another question, though, but stayed quiet until she'd filled and labeled her bottle for the class assignment. She raised her hand as she started cleaning up, however. "Professor Lafay? Has anyone ever mistaken this potion for veritaserum?," she asked, cleaning the rest of her tools and slipping them back into her bag. She didn't think it would be appreciated if she didn't clean up even though she was waiting for an answer. That way, she could leave once she found out. If she found out. She just hoped her question wasn't going to turn around and get her in trouble.

Kat peeked at her potion. It was transparent... like water indeed. Sweet Merlin's Beard. Ok, it wasn't Kat's first successful potion... but she was proud of herself for making another successful one. Kat drained her potion into a potion bottle and took five drops of it and placed it inside a vial. Homework. Ok. Then, Kat brought in front the potion bottle and gave it to Lafay.

Slinging her bag, the blonde slipped the vial inside her pocket. "Thanks for the lesson, Professor."

Sarah looked down at her brew... yet all she saw was the colour of the pewter base... that means it was transparent... and that she had done it correctly. She was finished.Sarah took five drops and out it in a bottle. The remaining she drained into a bottle which she put aside while she cleaned up. Then confident that her workspace was clean she took her bottle of the brew that was left and brought it up front. "Thank you professor for the lesson" Sarah said. She went back to her workstation one more time and collected her things. She did not write down what was for homework though... she could always get it from someone else if she forgot. She then left the classroom

Right. That's what she meant. It must have been the belladonna still wearing off. Renesmee blushed just a bit and then nodded at the Proffessor. She was eager to try this potion again sometime then, she wanted to do it without the extra added ingredient though.

Clear potion? Was hers clear? Renesmee peaked at her cauldron and all she could see was clearness. Good then. It had worked, her skills were improving. Grabbing a potion bottle, Ness drained her potion, She turned the bottle around checking one last time that everything was correct. Now picking up a vial, the fifth year added drops of her potion inside. That was done too now. She closed her vial first and then her bottle.

Before getting up she cleaned her cauldron with a simple cleaning spell. It would be an horrific smell if the cauldron was left to stay uncleaned for a long time. Everything was all done, and everything was all cleaned up. She was ready to leave. On her way out, she gave her potion to the Professor. "Th..thank you for the lesson." she said a little hesitantly and then walked out.

"Incantation. And yes. It is the same." She told the girl.

SPOILER!!: YAY!

She eyes the girl who was trying the incantation over and over again... well, at least she was practicing. "Alright. Your potion should now be clear and transparent like water. Vickers attention as shifting from Kurumi to Vivi to other students in the class as they asked the details of the effects of this potion.....

... So this would only work after taking this in? There was a slight slump with his shoulders. He was hoping it would prompt him to remember past recurring dreams-- which given its nature, was both something poignant and upsetting. If before he'd just accept those occurrences much like the repeated rolling of the waves against the shore now he was actively expecting those dreams to come to him. Will he be so lucky now that he actively sought it? Or would he actually start blanking out on dreams just when he needed it most?

His meanderings was broken through when the Professor started giving out the last steps. He peered into the glass container he strained his potion through and saw that indeed it has now cleared. Quickly he reached out for a vial and after scourgifying them again he took 5 drops of his potion and dropped it into the glass tube. He paused for a moment as his gaze shifted towards the Professor. If this potion works then he would have the ability to remember dreams quite clearly, something that has proven elusive for himself, as it is for most people. If it doesnt work then he can always just discard the rest.....

... yes the rest. He was taking more than one vial of his potion.

Hastily filling in a few more vials he slipped them quietly into the pockets of his book bag before transferring the rest of his completed potion into the bottle for submitting. He cleaned up his materials and returned anything else he borrowed to the supply cabinet before taking the bottle and handing it to the Professor. "Have a good day Professor." he uttered quietly, trying not to stare too much at her visage lest she starts thinking he was trying to decipher the conundrum of her condition. Which in truth, he was.
