Hecate had just returned from St Mungo's. She was very pale, and the bags under her eyes were dark and gray. Her lips were dry and she looked as if she'd lost weight.
The healers of the third floor were not happy that she'd released herself. But Hecate Lafay was not going to remain in that horrid hospital room. She'd gotten back a few moments ago and she was going to hold a class.
Even if it killed her.
She opened the door to the classroom and sat behind the desk.
ooc: This class will stay open for at least 72 hours (probably more.) Also thanks to Nixy! and AuroraQuinn for taking the picture of the Potions Classroom for me, and to Anna Banana for making it into a pretty graphic!

Smart Alec...
Well. That turned out a lot better than he thought it would. AND he lost points from Hufflepuff, which didn't make sense, but he was totally okay with it. "Very well, Professor," Milton said pleasantly and resumed his potion-making.

Turning back to his potion, Milton slipped his goggles on and caught up with the previous step by putting the poppy into his cauldron. He watched it wilt and eventually sink to the bottom.
He watched the professor demonstrate and then carefully did the same. He dropped the leaves into the potion and moved his wand in a semi-circle motion. While he was doing so, he thought of the dream he wanted to remember. He thought of the mysterious person who fed him soup and.... something else. "Sopororis," he said. After that, he carefully strained the purple potion. And... he was done? Sweet.

Surprisingly, even though her house's captain had actually felt the need to talk back to Professor Lafay again, Kendall hadn't had to worry too much about people getting killed. Honestly, she kind of gave him points for having the courage to say that, and was a bit amused that somehow Hufflepuff had lost points. Of course, she had a feeling, even before one of the Puffs tried to correct the professor, that they still were going to end up losing the points, but that didn't make it any less funny. She didn't really show her amusement, though. She wasn't about to do that, but at least it had helped her forget a few of her worries. At least temporarily, although she couldn't quite entirely forget her worries that they really were just brewing a poison. I wonder if I should find a bezoar, she thought, turning her goggle-covered eyes toward the professor again as the demonstration continued.
At least incantations meant the lesson might be almost over. It meant the potion-brewing was, in any case, and she'd found out what the extra ingredient was. It wasn't what she thought, but then it made sense. Plus, now she knew how to pronounce the name of those leaves, even if she still didn't know what they were. They were going to disintegrate anyhow. Picking them up, she dropped them into the potion, watching as one by one they disintegrated and turned the potion more purple as they went. It bothered her that all thecolor reminded her of was being upset, but she had to finish. Spells were cool, at least, so she could ignore the color of the potion. What if you can't remember any of your recent dreams?, she wondered, half-raising her hand but then dropping it as she pretended she was only releasing her wand from its holster again. She didn't want to risk a stupid question in this lesson. She remembered enough of one, so that was what she thought of as she moved her wand in a semi-circle over the cauldron. "Sopororis," she cast.
No change, but it didn't seem like ther was supposed to be one. So she merely returned her wand to its holster before straining the potion. Now all that was left was to hear if they in fact were going to have to test them.

Dreamer's Elixir-something? (either lets a person remember or forget their dreams)
Ingredients:
Water
1 cup valerian root
half a cup of Kava Kava (?)
1 berry of deadly nightshade
8 leaves of devil's weed
1 cup of Poison Hemlock seeds (devil’s porridge)
1 poppy flower
10 leaves of Calea Zacatechichi (?)
Steps:
1. clean cauldron (important)
2. fill cauldron to the neck with water (basically full)
3. light the fire underneath cauldron to boil the water
4. once the water boils, add the valerian and kava kava (mixes easier if in liquid form)
5.using a clean, 18 carat gold needle, pierce the nightshade berry, making sure to get a single drop of juice on the tip of the needle
6.set the berry on fire, using the magical burner under cauldron, burning it up entirely along with any remaining juice not on the needle
7. let the drop on the needle fall into the potion without touching anything other than the needle
8.burn any remaining juice from needle, clean it, and return to supplies
9.using silver knife, slice each leaf of devil’s weed carefully along the vein
10.place sliced leaves carefully into cauldron/potion
11.dip pestle into the liquid, shaking excess off so it’s just moist
12.place hemlock seeds into mortar, then crush with moist pestle until mushy (“paste-like consistency”)
13.spoon the hemlock seed paste into cauldron with a wooden spoon
14.put goggles on so fumes don’t make you sleepy
15.place RED poppy flower on top of the liquid in cauldron, letting the heat from the potion wilt it and sink it to the bottom of the cauldron
16. if using potion to forget/not experience dreams, stop here
17.add Calea Zacatechichi leaves whole to potion, as they will disintegrate
18.(potion should be purple-colored) wave wand in a semi-circle motion over potion, thinking about a recent dream, then cast “Sopororis”
19.strain potion before using

Cassia wasn't paying much attention to what was going on between the Ravenclaw captain and Lafay. But it seemed to be an argument about names and stuff and the boy survived and was still breathing. And no burns too. So all was good. Cassia was glad. Though if anything happened she'd have stayed to Lafay's side because she was their head of house and the boy was a Ravvie. So simple enough.
But did she say twenty points from Hufflepuff? Um actually she did. Cassia of course wasn't going to point that out. Who cares if the Huffies lost extra points. Not like they seemed to care considering they have lost so many since the beginning of term. But it was weird that Professors seemed to be confusing students and houses. The muggle studies professor confused Seirra for a Gryffindor last lesson. Weird..

Back to potion brewing which was coming to an end.
Cassia reached for the leaves. What if her potion didn't turn purple? Will she have to brew the potion again. Meaning that she had to slice those weeds again! Hopefully not. Maybe Cassia could paint the potion purple...no? Surely the potions master wouldn't be fooled by this. So let's see.
The second-year added the leaves and watched the liquid closely. Please turn purple..please..please...pleases! She looked away just giving some time that maybe the potion needed. Potions did need some privacy and time, right? Musing at the classroom's floor which by the way was clean, Cassia decided that it was time for her to check in case the potion turned purple or not. She really hoped that she brewed it well. Because first she didn't feel like brewing it again. And second she liked the idea of having the ability to remember a particular dream.
She gathered her courage and looked at the potion. PURPLE! The second-year jumped from her seat excitedly. Can she squeak? Maybe if she did Professor Lafay would deduce some points from the lions. Hehe. Though she controlled herself and didn't squeak nor did she cheer. The jump was enough. She sat back on her seat and reached for her wand. She now needed to think of a dream which she wanted to remember.
Moving the wand in a semi-circle motion, Cassia was thinking about the dream she had a week ago. She of course only remembered glimpses."Sopororis," She uttered still moving her wand. SO now she was to remember it right away or not yet?

Kat took out the Calea Zaca-something leaves. Did they have to remember the names? Whatever. After taking it out, she added the leaves into her potion and watched it disintegrate. Kat took a peek inside. Was it purple? Was it...?
WHEW! IT'S PURPLE, ALRIGHT!
Relieved, Kat exhaled. Oh thank Merlin she didn't have to throw it all out. If she had to, it would've been the FIRST time to happen to her. She never had a potion made by her thrown out. And she would NEVER want that to happen. Nuh - uh.
This time, the Slytherin took out her wand. Last step. You BETTER make this one come out as planned. Kat positioned her wand. "Sopororis," she said with the semicircle hand movement. She did her best in thinking of her dream last night. That Slytherin won the Quidditch Cup for this term. Finally taking it away from those hands of the Ravenclaws. Oooooh the joy!
And she was done. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!

No dragons. Right...it was just an illusion. Ness thanked Kurumi and then listened to the Professor. Who once again confirmed that there were no dragons. Silly berry that thing was.
Ness nodded to the Professor and then got what she needed ready. She recleaned her cauldron, added some water to it and then lit a small fire letting it boil. As she waited a few moments she began measuring her Valerian root and Kava, Kava which was quite well measured after a few moments. She then added that to her potion and looked at her notes to see that the berries were next.
This time hopefully no one would try to kill her. The Hufflepuff captain shot Elijah another look and then took her gold needle pricking a small whole into the deadly berry. She then let a drop of juice drip into her potion, and burned off any access juice.
See she could do this. Annoying boys just liked to make her mess up.
Leaf thingy. Devil's weed? That's what it was called wasn't it. Ness peered over at one of the other students notes, a student that was NOT like Elijah, and then scribbled some notes of her own. Once she was pleased with what she had, she took her own devil's weed leaf and then using her silver knife cut it open, sharply on it's vein. Focused she was. Once the cutting was done Ness cleaned her knife and moved on.
Next. Poison Hemlock. What was up with these weird names? Wasn't these supposed to be a potion to make you forget dreams, not die from poison. Odd it was. Anyways. Focus. Grabbing her pestle, Renesmee dipped it into her potion. She then shook it off to stop the dripping and began crushing the seeds that were now in her mortar.
Squish! Squish! Mussh!
Yep all good. Taking now a spoon, Ness added the paste like mush into her potion. Catching up wasn't so hard after all as long as she didnt rush too much that was. "Scourgify" She cleaned the mortar and pestle wanting to be neat and clean.
Googles! They were put on...except red poppies were the most potent? Oh gosh. This was a little scary. Cringing and covering her mouth and nose with one hand, the red head took her red poppy dropped it into the potion.
Drop. It went in and she waited for it to sink to the bottom.
So that was it? Potion done? ...or not. Pout. "Professor, is the incarnation for the non-dreaming potion the same as the remembering dream potion?" Because if it was then Ness was highly tempted not to add the last ingredient. She didn't like her dreams at all. Oh well. She could always remake the potion some other time. Taking the leaves, Ness added her last ingredient and beamed brightly as she saw her potion turning purple. YAY! it had worked. Her skills were improving. "Sopororis." she did a semi circle with her wand, strained her potion and then eyed the commotion between Milton and the Professor. Hufflepuff? Since when was he considered that. He was way too rude to be that in Nessie's opinion.

Dreamer's Elixer-Forgetting dreams potion
(or if another ingredient added, also a remembering potion)
Ingredients needed
1 cup of valerian root
half a cup of Kava Kava
1 deadly nightshade berry
8 leaves of devil's weed
1 cup of Poison Hemlock seeds

Step 1. Clean your cauldron, fill it up with water and then light a small fire underneathe your cauldrom. Step 2. Add in half one whole cup of Valerian root Step 3. Add half a cup of Kava Kava (which both the Valerian and Kava Kava make you sleepy) Step 4. Using a clean gold needle poke a small whole in belladonna berry and carefully put a drop of the juice in the potion.
Step 5. Make sure to burn/clean all access juice and make sure to watch out for silly people like Elijah. Step 6. Using a silver knife cut Devil's weed open, right on it's vein. Add leaves into potion.

Make a mush of the Posion Hemlock, in the mortar, till it is like a paste and add it in. Step 9. With your goggles on add 1 red poppy flower and wait for it to reach the bottom of the cauldron.
(With correct spell, this potion can now stop you from dreaming) Step 10.Add Calea Zacatechichi leaves (Potion should be purple) Step 11. Finish off with a semi circle wand movement and Sopororis as your incarnation. Then strain your potion and you are done.

Elise took this to mean that she was supposed to put in the devil's weed now. Dropping it in discreetly, she made sure that it didn't splash around as she smirked and scribbled down more notes. Then, she moved to put on her goggles. No sleepy Elise.
Right, poppies. Picking up the flower, Elise promptly dropped the red bloom onto the liquid and watched it wilt and dissolve. Fascinating.
Oh. Time to perform spells. Oh, it's not. They had to add more poisonous leaves into the potion. Was the woman INSANE? Dropping the leaves anyway, she bit her lip. She was not trying this potion. Waiting a while, she noticed the potion turn a lovely aubergine colour. Yay, it was purple.
Trying hard to remember her dream, she settled for the one she'd had about 2 nights ago. It was the most recent one she could remember. "Sopororis," she muttered, moving her wand in the direction Lafay had specified before stepping away.
"At this point you can perform the spell and the potion should be read to take. The potion taken at this point, would allow you not to dream. So for people suffering from nightmares, or night terrors, this is the potion to drink. But that's not where we are stopping. You will now add whole, the Calea Zacatechichi leaves and you will notice they will disintegrate into the potion." She demonstrated and then eyed the class. "If the potion does not turn purple, it is wrong and you will need to throw it out. If the potion is indeed now purple, then the last step is your incantation. You will move the wand in a semicircle motion, think about a dream you've recently had and say Sopororis..." She instructed. "Then strain it and we have a potion that will allow you not only to dream, but to remember them vividly."
Sarah wrote some more notes making note that if she were to stop where she was now she would not have nightmares then she wrote down about the final ingredients as a budding writer she wanted to remember her dreams as it helped with plots and stuff. So she added the last leaf and waited with baited breath. Was it going to turn purple? Had she done it right? She doubted it... yet to her complete surprise the brew turned a purplish tinge. Had she added purple colouring or had she really and truly done it right? She shrugged off the self-doubt that was threatening to engulf her and went to work, first finishing off her notes with the remainder of the instructions. She then practiced the wand movement and practiced saying soporois. When she was finally satisfied she made a semi circle with her wand and said soporois while thinking of a dream she once had. In her dream she was the Gryffindor prefect just like Kurumi. That was an awesome dream. Then she strained her potion. yes it looked right.
astronomizzle ♧ gryffinDORK | & the rest is drag ♣ #badluckDerf
Wait...WHAT?!
Kurumi's head snapped around to look at Milton - her face showing nothing but SHOCK. First Sierra as a Gryffindor and now Milton as a Hufflepuff?! SHE KNEW IT! She knew that Milton couldn't possibly be a real Ravenclaw...there had to be something off about him and now she knew! So many people had secret identities this term!
Her head went back to the front when Professor Lafay continued, showing them the last steps of the potion. Before doing them herself, Kurumi added to her notes and lifted the leaves from the table and began to add them in one by one with one hand while raising her other hand.
"Um, Professor Lafay, is remembering a dream while performing Sopororis an essential step?" she asked nervously - mostly because she could only remember maybe one thing in a dream recently, if even that. "What if you can't remember a recent dream at all?"

Minerva listened, wait.. did she just take points off Hufflepuff for a Ravenclaw?? She was thinking about saying something, but Jory spoke up. She would have his back if needed, standing up to Lafay can be terrifying she remembered from last term. She felt a shiver move down her back just thinking about that. Turning back to her potion she listened, hmmm this could help with nightmares, her mind instantly went to a friend. She almost raised her hand to see if she could save a little to do that with, but decided it was best to go to the lab later and make more.
Minerva took the leaves and dropped them into the cauldron she watched as the potion turned purple. It was nice to have her favorite color come for a potion she was making. This made her smile just a bit, picking up her wand she thought about that dream at the lake. How she had fallen in and couldn't swim, but everyone laughed and pointed and no one helped her. She frowned even thinking about it. Doing a semicircle around the cauldron with her wand and "Sopororis". It was time for the straining, Minerva always felt herself get excited when she was almost finished with a potion. Straining the potion she wondered what they would do with it. Use it on themselves, use it on others.. There were so many things they could do..
Awesome! Lafay took points off from Hufflepuff. When it seemed that she was going to do it to Ravenclaw. And she got his name right. It was a win win for Milton.
Back to the question. He grabbed the flower and dropped it into his cauldron. He watched as it broke up and vanished in the potion. Nigel was relieved when it turned purple because that meant he did not have to start over. He did not want to do that. Nope.
He moved his wand in a semicircle motion, think about the dream with the eagle and the badger. He then said "Sopororis" Once he finished that. He strained it. Was he done now?

Ella's eyes grew wide when that Milton character talked back to Professor Lafay. Seriously? Did he have a death wish or something? Homegirl was already looking pretty frail and irritable so talking back wasn't exactly the wisest choice. Not that she thought it was nice what the Professor was doing, messing up his name. The whole situation was a bit...much. And then... THEN...Lafay took points away FROM HUFFLEPUFF. Blink.Blink. Milton was not a Hufflepuff. Ella frowned at the older boy, waiting for him to correct her but Jory got to it first. Good for you, Jory. But...MEEP. Hopefully Lafay wouldn't punish her fellow badger for speaking up.
Turning her attention back to the task at hand, Ella scribbled down the last of the notes. She eyed them carefully before setting down her quill. Right, so now she'd need to add Calea Zacatechichi leaves. Whole...she had to remember that part.
The third year picked them up one by one, adding ten leaves to her cauldron and watching as each one disintegrated. She held her breath when she was done, waiting for some kind of color change. Come onnnn.....She'd followed the steps exactly. It had to change.
...
Anditdid. Meep. Grin.
Picking up her wand, Ella moved it in a semicircle as the professor had instructed, mind focused on the dream she'd had the night before. When she had remembered it as vividly as she could, she decided she was ready for the incantation. "Sopororis!" Blink.Blink. And she was done.
"At this point you can perform the spell and the potion should be read to take. The potion taken at this point, would allow you not to dream. 8.) Once the juice drop fell into the cauldron, burn any excess juice from the gold needle, re-clean it, and return to the kit.
9.) Use a silver knife to slice the veins of each Devil's weed leaf precisely. May need to start over if missed.
10.) Put the sliced weeds into the cauldron gently.
11.) Dip the pestle in the cauldron, shake a bit, so it's just wet and not dripping.
12.) Put the Poison Hemlock seeds into the mortar, crush them into a mush.
13.) When it's a paste-like consistency, spoon it in with a wooden spoon.
14.) Get some red poppies, use goggles for protection from fumes (it will make you sleepy).
15.) Drop the poppies on top of the cauldron, let the potion wilt it on it's own and it will sink to the bottom of the cauldron.
16.) Add the Calea Zacatechichi leaves into the cauldron (color should turn to purple).
17.) When the potion turned purple, pick up your wand, move in a semi-circle motion, think about a dream you've recently had and say "Sopororis". Then strain it. The potion will allow you not only to dream, but to remember them vividly.
--- End ---
Befelda hurriedly grabbed the Calea leaves after putting down her parchment and quill. She added the leaves into her cauldron and waited for the potion to turn purple. She's frowning. Why is it not turning to purple? I know I didn't make a mistake!, she said to herself. Suddenly, the potion was starting to turn purple just what she's been waiting. Smile came from her face. She then took her wand, made a semi-circle motion and thought of the dream she recently had. She remembered her last dream with her Dad teaching her how to fly on a broom. Then she carefully said, "Sopororis". Then strained it.
YES! My first brewed potion! It was fun!.

Belle heard the professor's directions and she got out her Calea Zacatechichi leaves and put it next to her potion. She put her leaves into the potion and they actually disintegrated! She did the potion right! It was the color purple!
Then Belle did the incantation the professor instructed to do. She moved her wand n a semicircle motion and said "Sopororis!" Then she strained it and now she had a potion! Belle was so happy

Sierra listened to the explanation of ingredients, nodding along as she pieced together why they were all used. Smart woman, her mother was. She slipped on her goggles and fit them to her face. She always felt like a plimpy-face with these goggles on, but oh, well. She knew their purpose.
She picked up her own red poppy then dropped it onto the top of the brew.

Twenty points from...Hufflepuff?! BWAH HAHA! Puffs unfairly punished--that was GREAT! Although, now Sierra remembered that this was actually the second time points had been taken from the wrong house. First, she'd lost points for the Gryffindors in Muggle Studies. Well, actually...she'd EARNED them, which was even worse. now, Shacklewhatever had lost points for the Puffers.
Add that to Myrtle being outside her bathroom, house tables disappearing, creatures dying, and books being ripped to shreds. What was going ON?!
She glared at Milton. If he so dare caused any trouble over this, Sierra would HEX HIM!
She reached for the Calea Zacatechichi leaves and added them whole into the brew. She peered into the brew and grinned as it turned a purplish shade. Withdrawing her wand, she moved it in a semi-circle motion, remembering the dream about the labyrinth all the while.

After all was said and done, he sincerely hoped Lafay wouldn't make them take this potion. There was so much deadly stuff in there, one incorrect procedure would probably make this brew fatal. He gulped, picturing an owl winging its way across the ocean to his home, bearing the bad news to his family.
Okay, just focus and that won't happen. Pao scribbled down what she was saying about the poppy, including the bit about the red color. Grabbing his goggles, he fastened them securely on his head before reaching for the poppy. He dropped the flower into the potion, then pulled his face away from the fumes. He wasn't taking any chances, and she'd already said it would melt in by itself.

What? That's not fair! He's not even IN Hufflepuff! Clearly this professor had a deep bias against his House. This didn't sit right with him, though. If anything, Ravenclaw should be losing points. And if this was payback for Captain Ness getting splashed, that was still unfair. That had been an accident.
Internally grumbling, he scratched down the un-spellable ingredient name and made a note that this was the extra step to change the potion's purpose. Taking the leaves in hand, he threw them into his potion and desperately hoped it would turn purple. Nothing.. nothing... wait, maybe that's...? Yes, it's turning purple! He grinned despite his anger at Lafay. He had done it!
Sticking his hand inside his robe pocket, he unholstered his wand and prepared to perform the spell. At least, he HOPED he could perform this spell. This was a complicated potion, so the spell might be too hard for a first year. Pao ran over the pronunciation in his head several times before moving his wand in a half circle and saying, "Sopororis!"
Though he didn't notice any discernible change, he was fairly certain he'd done it correctly. No one else seemed to be having anything much happen after they had cast the spell, so he wasn't too worried. Finally, he grabbed the cauldron and began to strain the final product. When finished, he set the final brew back on the table and waited to see what he should do with it.
She pulled out the poppy flower, showing it to the students. "Goggles please." She said not putting them on herself. "I'm use to this... you aren't. Put on your goggles as when this is heated the fumes will make you sleepy."

Louisa turned and got her backpack that had the goggles in there somewhere. She paid attention to Lafay as she rummaged through a bunch of useless stuff packed into the bag but the goggles naturally had to be at the bottom. [/sarcasm]
Okay, got it. She slipped them over her head and onto her eyes. Dragging the small plate with the poppy flower closer, she held it over the cauldron and slowly tilted it so the poppy flower rolled into the cauldron with a small POP. Behind the goggles, she watched as the liquid swirled on itself and swallowed the poppy flower in, bubbled for a few times and then continued to be noisy.

Aaaaand it was like Lafay was actually talking to Louisa in person. Blocking out nightmares, it was the potion she was looking for! She looked down at the cauldron and stared for a couple of moments.
She needed this so bad, what harm could it be if she scooped some in an empty vial and hid it in her bag for later use? If it really worked, she could do it for as long as her memories were vivid then hopefully time would heal that scarred mind of hers. The Ravenclaw looked at the professor, kept looking until Lafay turned her attention to Milton... AND TOOK 20 POINTS? From Hufflepuff. If Louisa wasn't about to sneak some potion into an empty vial, she would've grinned. But today, she seized the chance and poured some potion into one of the empty vials put on her work table, quickly dragging it to the side with the rest of the ingredients. Camouflaging. Hopeful camouflaging.
Ahem.
Clumsily she grabbed the leaves of Calea Zacatechichi and dumped them into the cauldron. Slowly they started to disintegrate and the liquid kept swirling and bubbling, very subtly changing color from shade to shade until it finally settled on purple. Louisa's mouth twitched into a small nervous smile, her potion was successful so the vial was safe to take. Good to know!
Okay, so then the spell. Right. Think of a dream that she wanted to remember... ummm... uhhh.... squeezing her eyes shut, she tried to think of any trivia dream that wouldn't be shuddering if remembered vividly. Maybe the one where Johnny and herself fly a kite and then turn out to be in the middle of Diagon Alley going to buy him a wand. As her mind was fixated on that, she moved her wand in a semi circle motion and uttered, "Sopororis.."

Add the poppy flower & let it sink on its own. <-- (Anti-dreaming potion ends here).
Add the leaves of Calea Zacatechichi.
If the potion turns purple then it's successful, if not then redo it again.
Think of a dream, cast the Sopororis spell over the cauldron. Move your wand in a semi circle motion. <-- (potion for remembering dreams vividly ends here)
"Very well, Shacklebolt. Twenty points from Hufflepuff." She said. Yeah, she got it right when she was going to take points away from him. "And you are meeting me in my office after class."
Smart Alec...

"Then strain it and we have a potion that will allow you not only to dream, but to remember them vividly."
She listened to the exchange between Shacklebolt and Lafay. It was very strange how she let a student get her so worked up. Or maybe she's just always a bit angry? The young claw wasn't sure. What she did know was that Milton was a Ravenclaw, not a Hufflepuff. Was Lafay's illness affecting her memory, or her sense of color? Clearly he was not wearing yellow and black. Not that she wanted Ravenclaw to lose points though, not at all. It was all very curious...
She cleared her head of it and move on to the next step. She picked up the leaves that remained on her desk and put them into her potion, all at once. She hoped it didn't matter how fast they went in. Lafay would've told them if it needed to be one at a time, so she relaxed as they disintegrated away. Her potion began to change color. It became more and more saturated with color until it finally ended on a shade very similar to an eggplant. Maybe a little lighter. She hoped that was correct and started re-visualizing the dream she'd told in Divination. She thought it was a nice enough dream to try the potion with.
Thinking back to the tree and the rain, the horse and the sky...she made a semicircle with her wand over the potion and said the strange word as instructed. "Sopororis." Then she strained the brew from the cauldron and tidied up her workspace. Please don't make us actually drink them she pleaded internally. She thought she'd done an all right job, but actually trusting herself enough to drink it was still a bit nerve-wracking. What if she poisoned herself by accident? Could they save her in time?

At the Professor's prompting Vickers dropped the devils weed into the cauldron, watching it mix along with everything else thats already in there. Ad the next set of instructions involved the mortar and pestle the Ravenclaw proceeded to scourgify these, then dropped those poison seeds into the mortar and quickly dipped his pestle lightly into the surface of the mixture. After a few elbow grease with the mortar and pestle he scourgified the wooden spoon and scooped out the Hemlock paste, then added it onto the mixture. He paused to slip his goggles over his eyes then proceeded to drop the poppy flower, leaning back a bit to avoid the fumes altogether.
Certainly he wasnt in this to forget those precious memories that would luckily re-assert themselves in his dreams, so Vickers continued to add all the Calea Zacatechichi leaves into the cauldron, watching them disintegrate into the mixture.
He peered curiously into his mixture, nervously anticipating the change in color. It was darkening... until it approached that purple color. As soon as it did so Vickers took hold of his wand, kept his mother's memory clearly in the forefront of dreams he wants to remember with more clarity then made a half-mood wandstroke over his pot before quietly uttering "Sopororis." Curious gaze into the pot again. It looks... done. Time to strain?
He took a strainer and started ladling the potion through it, to be caught by an already scourgified glass underneath. Was that it? Were they also supposed to test this?

Princess Pretty Pants? No, he was NOT okay with that. He wasn't okay with ANY of this! He was sick and tired of letting Lafay walk all over him like he was a piece of trash. Last term, Milton was a bit scared of Lafay because of her threats and menacing looks and her evil reputation, but Miton didn't care anymore. He may not have been the nicest person in the world, but he deserved some respect. So, NO, he wasn't going to say yes with a smile. He was going to stand up to her because he deserved better.
When Professor Lafay walked back to her desk, Milton didn't yell when she called him the wrong name again. He didn't want to yell at her, because it would only make it worse. Instead, he stopped working on his potion, took a deep breath, and took a brief moment to collect himself. "It's Shacklebolt, Professor," he said calmly, loud enough for it to clearly carry to her desk where she stood. "Look, I know you hate me. That much is obvious. And I may just be another petty, annoying student to you, but we're all human and I deserve as much respect as you do. So take all the house points you want, kick me out of class for the year, whatever, just..." Staaaaay calm, Milton... "Get my name right, Professor." Because HE knew that SHE knew it.
Vivi was tempted to be furious with Milton, especially considering the tenuous lead they had in house points, but it was hard not to feel that he wasn't justified in his almost supernaturally calm way of talking back to a professor who was obviously baiting him. She hmphed under her breath as she continued at her cauldron, but as soon as Lafay moved on, Vivi gave the captain a crooked smile and a salute.
Well done, regardless.

After a moment's consideration, Vivi moved her wand over the cauldron and murmured the incantation, keeping an eye on the color and consistency for any changes. Still good? Good. She'd just think deep thoughts about that grizzly bear in the hat.
She was about to strain before a thought occurred to her, and Vivi raised her hand. "Professor, will the potion help to remember any dream or only the one we're trying to recall as we say the incantation?" It seemed like a waste not to be able to use the whole potion. Also... how was it taken?

Cardigan was just too excited for this potion.and possibly make it out of class.. If that was to be possible, she would need the directions. Quickly taking a loose piece of parchment from her bag and a quill, she began to right down everything they've done so far, from the person next to her's parchment, just as a guide:
SPOILER!!: Dreamer's Elixr notes
Cardigan Johansson, Slytherin
Dreamer's Elixr
(to either forget or remember your dreams)
Ingredients:
•1 cup of valerian root(best as liquid, for mixing)
•half a cup of Kava Kava(same as valerian root)
•1 deadly nightshade/belladonna berry
•8 leaves of devil's weed
•1 cup of Poison Hemlock seeds
•1 poppy flower
•10 leaves of Calea Zacatechichi
Steps:
Step 1: Clean your Cauldron(Scourgify), fill it with water(Aguamenti) and light a fire underneath(Incendio). Step 2: Add in the cup of Valerian root. Step 3: Add in the half cup of Kava Kava. Step 4: Using the gold needle from your potions kit, poke a hole in the belladonna berry and let a drop of the juice in the potion. Burn/clean all the excess stuff. Step 5: Using the silver knife from your potions kit, cut the Devil's weed right on the vein. Do the same for all 8, and drop them in the potion. Step 6: Dip Pestle into potion, make sure it's wet but not dripping wet. Step 7: Put the cup of poison hemlock seeds in the mortar, and make a paste of them with the pestle. Pour it in the potion. Step 8: Put your goggles on, an add the poppy flower, best red, to the potion. Wait for it to sink to the bottom of the cauldron.(At this point, it can stop you from dreaming.) Step 9:*Add the 10 Calea Zacatechichi leaves to the potion.(It should turn purple.) Step 10: Top it off with a semi circle wand movement, and say*Sopororis, your incantation. Try to remember a dream you've had. Strain the potion, and then you're done!
Oh so it's time for the Calea leaves! Cardigan slid her goggles off her head, and set them to the side. She picked up the Calea*Zacatechichi leaves, and scattered them in one by one. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten! Great! The potion turned purple, like it was supposed to! Taking her parchment up, she checked to see what was to be done next. Semi circle wand movement... Sopororis... Strain... And done!!
She picked up her wand, and completed the semi circle movement, while saying the incantation, Sopororis. She had repeated it to herself a few times before, just so it would work out alright. It wouldn't be fun to start over!! Immediately proceeding that, Cardigan began to strain the potion, being quick but careful about it. She tried to remember last night's dream...: She was...flying on her broom....Quaffle in hand....on the...Quidditch pitch? Yeah. She was almost to the...goals, she threw the ball, and she.....she scored!!!!! And won the game for....Slytherin!!! What an amazing dream....
And that was it!!! That was the potion! She wondered what they would be doing with the potion, as of now. Would they be taking it?? Probably not. It wasn't nighttime yet. They would most likely be bottling it up.

Gideon added to his notes as he waited for the next step, listening to Professor Lafay explained how the potion could be continued or stopped at this point depending on what was needed. He remembered himself a few times needing the potion in question now or something similiar to keep from dreaming. Well bad dreams. Dad probably had brewed quite a few batches himself. He shook his head to keep the thoughts that threatened to impede him away. There was no need for them and he needed to move on with the potion as Lafay wanted the dream-reminding type potion.
Now all ten Calea Zacatechichi leaves were in the potion after he added them, slowly but surely disolving one by one into the surrounding liquid. There was a look of relief on his face as the potion within his cauldron turned purple like it was supposed to. Thank Merlin...everything had been done and worked correctly.
He thought long and hard of one of his recent dreams, his wand moving in the required semi-circular motion. "Sopororis," he said in incantation, adding the final piece to the puzzle. Gideon then switched wand for strainer that had been previously cleaned by a quick scourgify, the seventh year proceeding to strain his potion and finishing up.

Whoa, okay....
What was with the professors and mixing up houses this term? It was starting worry Emmanuelle a little. What if a professor accidently confused a Hufflepuff for a Slytherin? That wouldn't be good on so many different levels. Anyway, back to the potion. Slowly, she added the leaves, watching them disintegrate as she went. And as the potion turned purple, as Professor Lafay had described. Em called up the first safe dream she could remember having (just in case of babbling or something) and took out her wand. Moving her wand in a semicircle, she said the spell. "Sopororis." Then she strained the potion. Okay, was it ready to test?

Ira scribbled and scribbled, noting down almost every word being said. She attentively listened to the professor's instructions and prepared the required. She got out her red poppy out first. Then she put on her goggles, not wanting to get all sleepy and mess up her potions. And definitely not be scolded by Lafay!
Then she dropped the poppy into the boiling mixture in the cauldron on the top, floating there at first, then gradually going down, just like Lafay had said. This step done, Ira continued on to the next step.
She then took the Calea Zacatechichi leaves and added them whole into the cauldron. Weird name they had, the Calea Zacatechichi leaves. Who named such long weird names? Back to the potion, Ira watched, as the color changed gradually, becoming purple, almost dark purple. It appeared right.
Next, the incantation. Ira first practised the incantations. Then, she raised the wand and traced it in a semi circular motion while concentrating on her last dream. The incantation was to be said while focusing on the dream.
But.. WAIT! What if she didn't remember any dream? Ira looked up to Professor Lafay, wondering.. She raised her hand up and answered, "Professor.. What if we don't remember?" She honestly didn't remember. Maybe she didn't dream at all.. So was she supposed to cast the spell? What would happen if she did? "And is this potion viable for just the last dream we dreamed? Or ANY dream?"

Nerida looked over as Professor Lafay grabbed the boy's tie...Wow scary she was so happy she wasn't him. Though she did say some funny nicknames but she didn't laugh she might get in glared at from either him or the Professor.
Poppies...At least those sounded nice...Goggles? Why did they need goggles? Still she put them on. The fumes will make you sleepy..Suddenly the flowers didn't sound so nice anymore... Red poppies she like red poppies her mum grew some. Place them on the top and let them drop, sounded easy enough.
She picked up the poppy flower before dropping it in for safe measures she covered her mouth with her free hand. She dropped it in and watched as it wilted and slowly sank to the bottom of the cauldron.
Nerida looked over once again at Milton, that was his name right? She had never really talked to him, she only knew he was the Ravenclaw Captain. It seems he had guts and really wanted to show them against Professor Lafay. Which was pretty wicked in Nerida's eyes. Wait did she just say Hufflepuff? Oh well its not like they were losing points, so she would just keep her mouth shut!
Nerida took the ten Calea Zacatechichi leaves and dropped them into the potion. Watching them dissolve she noticed the potion began to change colors just like the Professor said, the potion was now purple. She closed her eyes and thought about one of the recent dreams she had in the past couple of days.
She thought long and hard about the past dream before moving her wand in a semi-circular motion and said "Soporois!" After she finished performing the spell she strained it and waited for further instructions.

SPOILER!!: 1st step
"Very good." She said watching them before she went back to her cauldron. "Now... we've added the Deadly Nightshade, for it's magical properties. The Devil's Weed, which is also part of the Nightshade family, has anesthetic properties and the Poison Hemlock was added because in ancient times the Anglo-Saxons discovered it to be a good sedative and antispasmodic, and in sufficient doses as a paralyser. Your dreams will be harder to remember if you are tossing and turning."
She pulled out the poppy flower, showing it to the students. "Goggles please." She said not putting them on herself. "I'm use to this... you aren't. Put on your goggles as when this is heated the fumes will make you sleepy."
She tried to answer the unanswered question. "Red poppies are the most potent. So we use red. Just drop it on the top, let the potion wilt it on it's own and it will sink to the bottom of the cauldron."
Now they would need goggles? After all the devil stuff and if you get juice on you, you may die and now goggles were needed? Still you didn't have to ask her twice. She put her goggles on and made sure that they were tight and that there was no chance of them coming off. Heated fumes will make you sleepy? That might not be such a bad thing. Hannah could go for a nap right about now.
She took the red colored poppie and dropped it into the potion. she watched it wilt and sink to the bottom of the cauldron.
SPOILER!!: 2nd step
At this point you can perform the spell and the potion should be read to take.
They were almost done! It was always an accomplishmnet to make it out of Potions alive. She paid close attention to Lafay. She soaked in every word...afraid of missing a cruical step. She then took the Calea Zacatechichi leaves and added them whole into the cauldron. She watched them as they disintegrated into the potion.
Hannah eyed the potion almost willing it with her eyes to turn the right shade. She didn't want to have to start all over. The work didn't bother her so much, but the embarrassment of not getting it done right the first time would be the thing that she would struggle with. Right before her very eyes the color of the potion slowly became purple. Whew! She had managed to get it right the first time!
She decided to practice the incantation a few times just to make sure that she had everything down pat. It would be a waste to get this far and mess up over a silly incantation. "Sopororis, Sopororis, Sopororis." She felt confident. She then picked her wand and moved it in a semicircle motion all the ehile thinking about her last dream. "Sopororis."
There she had done everything just right. Now what to do?
