She didn't know it was Helena, she was too dizzy to even notice. So she just kept walking some distance behind the girl. That was until Zara collapsed on the floor, causing a soft thud sound which seemed loud because of the previous silence. Helena was almost there, at the library. She was thinking about her owl, Hades, and that she hadn't seen him in some time. But, as she was about to enter the library, she heard something, making her gasp and spin around quickly on her tiptoes.
And there was a girl on the floor.
Wait, what?!
Helena approached the girl as fast as she could, and as she got closer and closer... was that... " Zara?" She mumbled, but then she was sure. " Zara!" The girl said, kneeling down next to her. " Are you alright?" Uh... stupid quiestion. Really stupid. Of course she was not alright!

Well he was happy about the whole leaving his ex-girlfriend behind because he thought she was litterally crazy. But now he had to take a break from walking because he was making zero progress. James Heywood leaned against the wall and look up at the ceiling. Why did he even come to Hogwarts. He knew that in time he would make friends but it would've been a lot easier to just come here when he was eleven so then now, at this moment he would know people and has loads of friends by now and then he would be happy right no but he just fel homsick. Vashti was on her way to the library to get some of her homework done. It was much easier getting it done in the library than the common room. It was much quieter for one, and there was just something about being surrounded by hundreds of shelves of books that made her actually want to finish her homework. With her bag slung over her shoulder, she turned down the next corner and- "Whoa!"
She managed to stop just short of bumping into someone. Merlin. Did this boy really need to lean against the wall that was this close to the corner? "Sorry," she said, though she hadn't actually run into him or anything. "Didn't see you there."

"Don't worry you don't have to say sorry. It was my fault for being near the corner." James said to her.
He could be a royal idiot sometimes and he didn't like being a royal idiot. But then there were the times when he was a gentleman...well to girls only of course but he was nice to girls in general. "I'm James Heywood..." James said to her. "But you can call me Jay." James smiled sweetly. He hoped that the girl would be a nice person. He didn't like stuck up people. Besides he was new so most people would be nice to him...hopefully. |

Maybe that was why he'd been so close to the corner. Maybe people did that all the time wherever he was from, and other people just knew not to turn corners very closely. Or something.
But now it was time for introductions, of course. "Nice to meet you, Jay," Vashti replied with a smile and extended a polite hand to shake. "I'm Vashti." And now that that was out of the way... "Are you new here?" He looked too old to be a first year though.

Dani moved down the corridor, pushing back her blonde curls as she read her book. She swung her back over her shoulder and sighed as she concentrated on the words on the pages- it was times like this that she missed Beauxbatons the most. She sat down on a ledge and put down her bag as she settled the book on her lap and looked around.

She always did like hearing about other magical schools and how alike or different they were from Hogwarts. "I'm a fifth year." Which still felt so weird to say, even now when it was already November. She ought to have been used to it by now, but she wasn't, for whatever reason.

Are there any frogs in the lake? she asked herself, trying to remember if she had seen any there. "Anyway, your a first year, aren't you? I seem to remember seeing you being sorted," "Oh, don't worry about it. I've come to expect anything that would typically be unexpected from this place." Presley grinned. Nothing normal ever happened at Hogwarts. "Could a stray get into the castle?" Presley asked. She was deathly afraid of snakes, and if a stray frog could get in, so could a snake. This could be very bad news. "Yes, I'm new this year. What year are you in? You're not a first year, are you?" |

If it wasn't a stray like Presley said, then it might have an owner. "I can hold on to it, until the true owner looks anyway, and your right, that was a dumb idea about strays," she said, smiling at Presley. She seemed kind of worried about the idea, Brielle might have been also if she stopped to think of it. "I'm just one year ahead of you," she said, grinning. She always felt a bit more comfortable with the firsties. "So how's Hogwarts for you?" she asked. |

But her head hurt, and her stomach was doing cartwheels. She put her hand to her stomach as she closed her eyes forcefully.
Managing a manipulated grin on her face, she tried to say, "Really, I'm fine. A little headache is all. I got dizzy at the ship. Maybe the air in the library would do me good." Right, Zara didn't need another trip to the hospital wing--herself being the patient this time. "C-could you bring me there?" She looked hopefully at Helena, eyes open now, with much difficulty though.

Or else she wouldn't have fallen there. " Don't you want me to take you to the healer? She'll give you something for the headache."
Oh, she wanted to go to the library? Alright. " Sure," she said, carefully holding one of Zara's arms, just in case... no, she was not going to fall again. Not with Helena there.

Zara began to hesitate though. Maybe she needed some sort of medicine. but the mention of the healer made her refuse like crazy. "Nonono. No healer. I'm fine. I'm perfectly fine." She grinned awkwardly and tried to stand up on herself but failed. She's been to the hospital wing once when she accompanied Nessie. All those medicines looked and tasted...different.
Oh yeeey. Helena WAS taking her to the library. Zara immediately made her grin a proper one. YEEEY. Library. She was going to the library, not the hospital wing. Zara readily accepted Helena's help. "Thanks," she said to Helena as she walked with her to the library.

She supposed it would be something to think seriously about, if you were averse to say, flushing it down the toilet. Brielle was kind, Presley decided. It was a nice quality. One that Presley hoped to someday posses. "It wasn't dumb. It's actually a good idea. I just didn't know if they could get in or not." Presley didn't intend to make Brielle feel dumb. That was the last thing she meant to do. "I'm sorry if it sounded as if that was what I meant," she said, slipping back into the formal speech she'd grown up with, and still used when she was nervous or concerned. "Hogwarts is great! I just wish first years could go to Hogsmeade. I feel....trapped. Much as I love it here, I would just love to go for a run with nobody else anywhere near me." She was talking too much. Presley always talked too much. "How about for you?" she asked Brielle.

"No, no, it didn't sound anything like that, I should actually be the one apologizing for dragging you into this silly mess," she smiled at Presley. She seemed like a really cute girl, hard to believe that she was only a first year. Somehow, Brielle found herself wishing that she was a first year too, there were a lot of them, she noted. She nodded enthusiastically about Presley's opinion of Hogsmeade, she had never gone to the place, too. But, "I still love Hogwarts, though. It's such a big change from the small town I lived in, and I dunno, I guess the space is just enough for me. But I would love to visit Hogsmeade, too, maybe we can go together someday?" |

"Actually, I've been trying to find a way we can sneak out, and I have a feeling I'm really close to something! Like I've almost found a way!" She knew she shouldn't mention this, she really didn't know Brielle all that well, but she didn't seem like the kind of girl to snitch on Presley. She seemed more like the kind that would adventure with her. Suddenly her cuioriosity (ooc:sp?) spiked. "Where did you grow up?" she asked.

Brielle exclaimed, her eyes growing even larger than they were. She had heard tell of passages around the school, but again because of her parents, she had been afraid to set her eyes out. She couldn't get into trouble, but the way Presley talked seemed to pull her adventurous side out. She had read of many books about students going in and out of the castle whenever they had wanted to, and she wanted to be one of those. Shrugging off her foreboding feeling, Brielle nodded at Presley. "Do you think you could show it to me? I won't tell anybody, if it's what you want," Brielle answered, trying to control the glee in her voice. |

Okay, Presley may have overestimated her knowledge of the castle, but she had found a number of in-castle-passages. Nevertheless she decided to tell Brielle her new plan. "Well, I've been thinking, that maybe if we go into the forbidden forest, I mean, maybe there's a way around the gates! The forest is so huge there's no way the whole thing is fenced in! The problem is, I really don't want to go into the forest alone, are you up to it?" Pres crossed her fingers and hoped Brielle wasn't scared of the forest. In truth, it terrified Presley, but she would never tell that secret to a soul. Wait, back up, Presley's life was more interesting than someone else's? This had to be a new thing. Well, she supposed it was interesting now that it was mentioned, but she, under no circumstances, had a perfect life. Her mum....well, had been who she was. And her father wasn't a kid-friendly type at all. Especially not after what happened. The only letter Presley had gotten that entire year had simply said 'The Bahamas for the Holidays is fine with me. Your brother suggests France.' So, interesting, probably, happy, no way.

No. Was the first thought that popped into her mind. Alright, she was a coward, that was no secret. The time she had been sorted, she had been extremely happy. Not being in Gryffindor meant not having to be brave. Except now... what was she going to do? "I..." She stopped, lost for words. Was she really going to back out? After being so interested, after finally having a chance to discover who she was? And Presley... she seemed so strong, yet so young at the same time. Was Brielle really going to leave her to go alone. "...am coming. I'm going with you." she nodded to the younger girl. She didn't want to disappoint her, that was the last thing Brielle would have wanted to do. And so she was going to stand strong, even if it was just this once. Buuut"Won't we get in trouble, though?" For now, she could worry only about that. |

Buuut"Won't we get in trouble, though?" For now, she could worry only about that. Brielle didn't want to go. Presley knew that by the way she hesitated in answering, and her doubtful question. But Pres wanted to go so badly that she shoved that thought to the back of her mind, and pretended she hadn't noticed. "Fabulous! I knew you would. That's why I asked you. You seem like an adventurous type." Maybe this would even be good. Brielle seemed almost trapped in imagined boudaries and rules that she wasn't bound to abide by, but did. It would pull her out of her shell, Presley decided. Mostly Pres was just lying to herself, and explaining away opposition, but she wanted this sooo much. "Trouble?" Presley feigned suprise at the word. "Well, it's only breaking the rules if you get caught." She grinned, adapting the favorite phrase of her elder brother 'It's only illegal if you get caught.' This tended to make Presley nervous, but it also made her laugh, and she hoped it would have the laughing part of the effect on Brielle.

Ruby was still in a rage as she walked away from that shattered mirror and Brae and Alfie, muttering things like, "Stupid git," and "Never again". And what was worse, she thought she heard the stupid cowardly lion calling after her--what the hell was wrong with him?! But no, the redhead didn't turn around, not even for a second. For one odd second, she wished she could jump into a pool or take a bath just so she could cleanse herself of the mess she had left behind. But of course, water cannot wash anything but dirt away.
Slightly aware that she was now walking down the corridor, Ruby halted suddenly. There was a window next to her and she gazed out of it, her mind not at all on things she was seeing outside; instead, her brain worked in confusion as it tried to piece together what had just happened. It was over, all over. Right? Surely that stupid boy would be relieved that the evil lioness had left him at last and he would be able to enjoy Hogwarts in peace, with his friends...
And surprisingly, the redhead's expression softened at that word--friends. And now, more than ever, she wished she was back home with father, continuing her homeschooling.

And surprisingly, the redhead's expression softened at that word--friends. And now, more than ever, she wished she was back home with father, continuing her homeschooling. Toe all fixed up thanks to Ellie now, Braeden began down the fourth floor corridor, in the direction he'd last seen Ruby headed. It wasn't long until he found her, though, and he was surprised to find she was just standing by a window. The boy looked at his surroundings warily, as if expecting a hidden ninja to jump out of nowhere and attack him. But there were no ninjas waiting for their chance to cause him harm, there was only Ruby, a window, and a very empty corridor.
Feeling a little out of place, the Gryffindork slowed and took a couple more steps toward Ruby before stopping, close enough to observe the girl, but far enough for her not to notice his presence. She looked… well, she looked not threatening, and Brae wasn't sure how to react to that. He was used to a completely different Ruby. He wasn't sure he liked this one very much, though. He kinda preferred having her insulting him and pushing him down stairs. Seeing her so quiet and still seemed a bit eerie. Ahem.
The boy cleared his throat and, gathering up the bit of courage that he owned, he approached the Lioness. It wasn't until he was beside her that he realized he'd forgotten to pull on his shoe and he was walking around wearing only one shoe, while the other foot was covered in the lion-patterned sock.
"I'm sorry," said Braeden after a moment. He wasn't sure how to start or even what to say, he just knew he didn't want Ruby mad at him anymore. "Whatever I did or said, I'm sorry…"

The girl was too absorbed in her thoughts to notice Brae sneaking up on her. But quite suddenly, when the boy Ahem'ed, Ruby whipped around so fast that her neck creaked. She was quite surprised to see him standing there--of all people. Hadn't she just told him that was going to leave him alone from now on? What kind of idiot willing walked up his bully mere seconds after they decided to leave them alone?! ...Braeden Stonem, that's who.
The look of surprise clearly shown on her face, the redhead simply stared at him, not really sure what to say that's a first. And then, just as suddenly, Brae was...APOLOGIZING?! TO HER?! Okay, this time she was really shocked; her eyebrows were nearly up to her hairline by now. But she quickly brought them down again and watched him warily. It could be a trick...he had just shown her that he was capable of being...well, somewhat intelligent.
She opened her mouth to speak but closed it quickly. She didn't know what to do. However, she realized she had to say something so Brae wouldn't think she had lost all ability to speak. "Why...why are you apologizing?" She finally asked, her lips pursed and her forehead crinkled in confusion. This was very bizarre...

Braeden cringed slightly to himself as a loooooong silence filled the air.
Uh-oh. Ruby was SERIOUSLY mad, wasn't she? She wasn't even talking to him anymore! Even insulting him anymore! What kind of twisted, warped universe was this!?
But before the boy could freak out too much (which he was already beginning to do, anyway), Ruby finally spoke. Asking why he was apologizing.
Brae blinked.
What? Wait, so did this mean he hadn't done anything wrong? Now he was just confused. But it didn't matter, he was just glad Ruby had finally said something to him. It made the most idiotic of grins to appear on his face.
"I… I… For upsetting you," said the boy once he'd regained his composure. "I'm not… exactly sure what Alfie and I did back there, but… I'm really sorry, Ruby," he continued, beginning to feel a little awkward. Who would've thought? The victim apologizing to the bully. "And… if it makes you feel any better, I'll… I'll burn that picture of us. I'll do it in front of you so there's no trickery," he went on. He really didn't want to do that, though. He liked that picture, even if they only times he'd confessed it had been in playful tones. It was true. It was a good memory… But if it really upset Ruby, then he'd let it go.
He just needed his bully back.

She frowned at him some more as he pulled one his goofy grins on her. "Upsetting me? But Brae, you can only upset your friends. And we're not friends." She let this statement fill the silence between them for a minute before speaking again. Well, it was true; they'd never be friends.
And of course, they were back to that picture. Now, she hated that picture beyond anything but something in his voice told her that he really didn't want to let it go. Whether that was so he could cause more damage or just admire it (which quite repulsed her), she could not tell. So she thought over his bargain in her head. "No. No, you can...you can keep it," She said finally. She'd just have to ignore it if he ever mentioned it again, like the mature person she was. Ha! This was very awkward...what were they supposed to do now?

Braeden gulped loudly, the goofy grin disappearing from his face.
"We--we're… we're not?" he asked, brown eyes widened with surprise.
Yeah.
You'd think that after all the verbal and physical abuse, Braeden would get the message that he and Ruby were not friends but, rather, bully and victim. However, in his masochistic mind, Brae thought they had some sort of friendship. A twisted friendship, yeah, but a friendship nonetheless.
And then Ruby was letting him keep the photograph.
The surprises did not end this day! Ruby - the fiery redheaded Lioness - was actually letting him keep the picture?! Wow. "…Thanks," muttered the Gryffindork with the ghost of a smile on his lips. He couldn't bring himself to flash one of his goofy grins again though.
Were he and Ruby seriously NOT friends?! ;_________; When did THAT happen?! Sure, they were a little weird, but… he thought they were friends! :'(
