The boy looked at his surroundings warily, as if expecting a hidden ninja to jump out of nowhere and attack him. But there were no ninjas waiting for their chance to cause him harm, there was only Ruby, a window, and a very empty corridor.
Feeling a little out of place, the Gryffindork slowed and took a couple more steps toward Ruby before stopping, close enough to observe the girl, but far enough for her not to notice his presence. She looked… well, she looked not threatening, and Brae wasn't sure how to react to that. He was used to a completely different Ruby. He wasn't sure he liked this one very much, though. He kinda preferred having her insulting him and pushing him down stairs. Seeing her so quiet and still seemed a bit eerie.
Ahem.
The boy cleared his throat and, gathering up the bit of courage that he owned, he approached the Lioness. It wasn't until he was beside her that he realized he'd forgotten to pull on his shoe and he was walking around wearing only one shoe, while the other foot was covered in the lion-patterned sock.
"I'm sorry," said Braeden after a moment. He wasn't sure how to start or even what to say, he just knew he didn't want Ruby mad at him anymore. "Whatever I did or said, I'm sorry…"
The girl was too absorbed in her thoughts to notice Brae sneaking up on her. But quite suddenly, when the boy
Ahem'ed, Ruby whipped around so fast that her neck creaked. She was
quite surprised to see him standing there--of all people. Hadn't she just told him that was going to leave him alone from now on? What kind of idiot willing walked up his bully mere seconds after they decided to leave them alone?! ...Braeden Stonem, that's who.
The look of surprise clearly shown on her face, the redhead simply stared at him, not really sure what to say
that's a first. And then, just as suddenly, Brae was...APOLOGIZING?! TO HER?! Okay, this time she was
really shocked; her eyebrows were nearly up to her hairline by now. But she quickly brought them down again and watched him warily. It could be a trick...he had just shown her that he was capable of being...well, somewhat intelligent.
She opened her mouth to speak but closed it quickly. She didn't know what to do. However, she realized she had to say something so Brae wouldn't think she had lost all ability to speak.
"Why...why are you apologizing?" She finally asked, her lips pursed and her forehead crinkled in confusion. This was very bizarre...
