What kind of idiot willing walked up his bully mere seconds after they decided to leave them alone?! ...Braeden Stonem, that's who.
The look of surprise clearly shown on her face, the redhead simply stared at him, not really sure what to say that's a first. And then, just as suddenly, Brae was...APOLOGIZING?! TO HER?! Okay, this time she was really shocked; her eyebrows were nearly up to her hairline by now. But she quickly brought them down again and watched him warily. It could be a trick...he had just shown her that he was capable of being...well, somewhat intelligent.
She opened her mouth to speak but closed it quickly. She didn't know what to do. However, she realized she had to say something so Brae wouldn't think she had lost all ability to speak.
"Why...why are you apologizing?" She finally asked, her lips pursed and her forehead crinkled in confusion. This was very bizarre...
Braeden cringed slightly to himself as a loooooong silence filled the air.
Uh-oh. Ruby was SERIOUSLY mad, wasn't she? She wasn't even talking to him anymore! Even
insulting him anymore! What kind of twisted, warped universe was this!?
But before the boy could freak out too much (which he was already beginning to do, anyway), Ruby finally spoke. Asking why he was apologizing.
Brae blinked.
What? Wait, so did this mean he
hadn't done anything wrong? Now he was just confused. But it didn't matter, he was just glad Ruby had finally said something to him. It made the most idiotic of grins to appear on his face.
"I… I… For upsetting you," said the boy once he'd regained his composure. "I'm not… exactly sure what Alfie and I did back there, but… I'm really sorry, Ruby," he continued, beginning to feel a little awkward. Who would've thought? The victim apologizing to the bully. "And… if it makes you feel any better, I'll… I'll burn that picture of us. I'll do it in front of you so there's no trickery," he went on. He really didn't want to do that, though. He liked that picture, even if they only times he'd confessed it had been in playful tones. It was true. It was a good memory… But if it really upset Ruby, then he'd let it go.
He just needed his bully back.
