"S'okay," she replied before noticing his accent. Ah, so he wasn't from around here. Maybe that was why he'd been so close to the corner. Maybe people did that all the time wherever he was from, and other people just knew not to turn corners very closely. Or something.

But now it was time for introductions, of course. "Nice to meet you, Jay," Vashti replied with a smile and extended a polite hand to shake. "I'm Vashti." And now that that was out of the way... "Are you new here?" He looked too old to be a first year though.
