"So...what did you want to know about Quidditch? ...Other than the Snitch?" She could teach him. Probably better than a book could. Plus, she's probably memorized the books. Or...remembers the important bits.

Conan nodded vigorously, "There are chairs in the library." So they could go sit in there. And she could draw pictures. Pictures would help. ALOT! He had only seen quidditch played once. And then he had tryouts, which he sucked at. So he didn't know the pitch at all well.

"What about the Great Hall?" They'd have to walk a bit, but... did it truly matter? At least it wasn't the library.

He didn't know where else had chairs. "We could sit on the floor right here?" Much better than appearing food place.

"Alright," Ellie said, leaning against the wall and sliding down until she sat. "So. There are seven players on a team. Four positions: Seeker, Keeper, Chaser, and Beater. One Seeker, One Keeper, Three Chasers, and two Beaters." Following, Conan?

Conan nodded, and pulled out his notebook and pen from his bag, and slid to the floor. He was ready. He titled it with Quidditch. His scrawl very untidy, but just legible. Thankfully. At least his letters weren't back to front.
He wrote down the places. One seeker. He knew that. Then the others followed in a column. Then the amount in the next column. Finally there was a final column for the ball they used. A table would help him greatly. "Got it."

Quidditch was such a staple in her life. Everything was common knowledge. And here Conan was, taking notes. "Good," she smiled. She felt pretty important right now. "Then there are three types of balls. The Snitch...you know that one, already, apparently, the Bludgers, and the Quaffle. There's one Snitch and Quaffle and two Bludgers."

He wrote those underneath. Just so he had those down. He wanted to know who used what though. He had the snitch in the right box though. That was a given. He knew about the seeker already. "So who uses which ball?" He needed to know. To impress Sierra. "A how tall are the hoops?"

Nodding as he said she realized he had a choice. "We all have a choice, whether or not to let our hearts actually get involved or not." Closing her eyes she nibbled on her lip in thought, "And choices are what molds us. Just wished it didn't take stupidity to show me where I went wrong." Yeah that thing about it being better to have loved then lost, then never to have loved at all? She'd rather have done the latter. It seemed that there was really no good end to the conversation now, but Matt had to keep talking since he wasn't sure how awkward this was about to get. "You can't control the heart, sooner or later it will become involved and whether you want to deal with it or not; doesn't really matter anymore." He strangely seemed to know more about matters of the heart that he originally liked to admit, probably due to the fact that he had watched his cousin long enough to figure out the difference between right and wrong in a relationship.
"It usually takes a mistake to make us realize that we had done something wrong, unfortunately by then you wish you had a time turner to stop yourself from making the same mistake again." Oh how he knew about that, but without making mistakes; people would just be perfect and then life would totally suck.

It flies wicked fast and is uber hard to catch. That's their sole job." Pressureful, it was. "Oh and to not get hurt." That could be applied to all positions, though, couldn't it? "The Bludgers, they're iron and fly around at random, trying to knock players off their brooms." Mean things. "The Beaters protect their team from the Bludgers, using bats to smack them away, toward the other team. Seeker, specifically." Yeah, Ellie completely took the Beaters Bible seriously.
And now the Quaffle, "The Quaffle is the red ball, about this big," she held her hands up to about the diameter of the ball, "It's the only ball that doesn't move on its own. The Chasers pass the Quaffle back and forth as they go down the pitch, and try to score it through one of the three hoops that stand at either end." "But the Chasers aren't the only ones that deal with the Quaffle. Because once the Chaser's go to score, there's the Keeper that has to block the hoops." He was still keeping up, right? It wasn't really that hard. "It still has enchantments on it, though." The Quaffle. "Like, it falls slower, to give the Chasers more time to catch it. And it has a Gripping Charm on it, which makes it easier to catch and hold." "And the hoops, those are fifty feet high." Nod.

He made a note in his table, and then wrote the whole stay alive part. That was always good. He needed to stay alive when he played.
A slowly charm. That sounded exciting. He could use that on a rollercoaster. Slow down the car mid drop, and build up potential energy. Then drop them, at a speed. The G-force would be awesome.
He made a note of the height. So he had to be that far off the ground? At least. "What else should I know?"

He made a note of the height. So he had to be that far off the ground? At least. "What else should I know?" He did get all that. Wow. Impressive. "A lot?" At least, Ellie felt like there was so much more to the game than the balls and the players. But, there really wasn't much that Conan needed to know was there?
Maybe, "Well, there are seven hundred fouls. Once, all of the fouls were committed in the same game." That must've been an AMAZING game. "And the match isn't over until the Snitch is caught. There can't be a tie, so someone has to catch it eventually. That's why it's good to have reserves. Games can go on for days, or weeks before someone wins and you'd need to switch players out. Or it can last only a few seconds." She was trying to leave out specifics. Unless Conan wanted them, of course.
She could go on....if he wanted....

Oh how he knew about that, but without making mistakes; people would just be perfect and then life would totally suck. "I'm discovering that." she murmured softly looking back down at her hands. Shaking her head, she bit her lip. Her head was just so confused on what all was happening, where her and Ivan were, what the future was going to bring... She felt she had no control over anything anymore, and it worried her more with just that alone.
"Or two..." she added, to his statement. Yep, she'd made that mistake twice, once with Matt and possibly now the same one with getting too attached to Ivan.

She could go on....if he wanted.... 700 fouls? That's insane. But he wrote it down anyway. "Are there any I should watch out for? Or is there a foul book, so I can read them?" Because he really didn't want to die. Did anyone die playing quidditch? "So the seeker is the most important one?" He was kinda scared. Because he wanted to be a seeker. Well that was what he tried out for. "What do you play?"

Ness ahd no idea where she was going, but she kept on walking, because she had nothing better to do. She didn't feel like doing homework so she thought of going for a walk and then maybe going to chill with some friends. She had brought Puffles her pygmy puff with her for some company.

Christopher walked absentmindedly down the fourth floor corridor with his hands shoved into the pockets of his school robes. He had a lot on his mind at the moment and had earlier decided to go for a walk to calm him down a bit. He would've gone outside, but he'd brought his sister's cat along and was sure that the obese little thing couldn't have gotten very far in the tall snow. Plus he was just too
high maintenance, so the lion strung him along through the corridor for some kind of excercise.
The third year wasn't paying much attention to where he was, let alone where he was going. Chunk was circling slowly through the
boy's legs on his chubby little legs and wasn't really helping things for him. Christopher looked down in fear of what was about to occur, but it was too late. He tripped over the cat (who hissed quite irritably, by the way) and fell flat on his face. And as he gathered all of his things that had cascaded out of his bag, he stood up to find a bewildered first year staring back at him with a small Pygmy Puff resting on her shoulder. "Oh, erm, you didn't happen to see any of that, did you?" Christopher hoped the answer was 'no.'

Well that was what he tried out for. "What do you play?" "All of them, probably. Some pertain to a specific position, though." So, depending on his position, he might not have to worry about most. "But I don't even know them all. There're a few in Quidditch Through the Ages." If he was going to read that, then he'll learn those at least.
Ellie chewed on her lip for a moment. Pondering. "I wouldn't say most important. All the positions are important, but maybe most valuable? See, Seekers can earn the most points..." Oh! She didn't even go into the scoring system... "Seekers, when they catch the Snitch can earn their team 150 points. In most cases, that team would win. Scoring with the Quaffle alone earns the team ten. So, it's really hard to earn that many points on scores alone. But, a team can win without catching it." Ravenclaw got really close to doing that her first term.
She shrugged, "I've played them all here." Here, at Hogwarts. "Last term, I was primarily Seeker when James got hurt. But first term I played Beater." And Chaser and Keeper were mixed in there somewhere.

Of course he was used to that whole ordeal, but it was stranger at Hogwarts; far more agitating as well. "Great..." He muttered to himself. "Now even first years are making fun of me. That's just great...."
Christopher stood there as awkwardly as he always was while he waited for her laughter to die down. That took a while. When she suddenly turned serious, asking if he was okay or not, the Gryffindor raised his eyebrows at the question. Oh, now it isn't so funny? He wanted badly to snap at her, but that wasn't nice, and it certainly wasn't like him at all. So instead, he took a deep breath and replied with a voice as calm as he could muster. "I'm fine thanks."
Then suddenly, something hit him. Not anything physical of course, but something in his head. The girl looked very..... familiar? No, he was sure he'd never spoken to her before. Perhaps he had seen her at the Hufflepuff table when he had visited his girlfriend Violet? (He figured she was in that house from her robes.) Or maybe he'd just seen her around the grounds. But there were so many Hogwarts students he'd seen without really remembering as well as he remembered this girl. He was going to brush the matter out of his head when she began to look so familiar that Christopher couldn't help but forget his annoyance with the small girl. Before he could really register what he was doing, he blurted out, "Wait, do I know you?" But maybe she would just further laugh. At this point, Christopher didn't really care.

As she slapped her knees and laughed, though, she realized he wasn't kidding--at all. Goofball looked completely serious and now Ruby didn't know what to do. So she just stood there and stared at him, as if he had just told her that she had sprouted wings.
Braeden Stonem cared about her?! Since WHEN?! She was so lost that she forgot to be mean to him. Slowly, the redhead reached up to scratch her head to make up for not saying anything. But she had to say something. The thing was, Ruby couldn't care less for Brae, unless of course he was dying or something. Then, she felt like she would probably feel some emotion. "WELL--So you...you care...and um...really?!" She was still staring at him because she was hoping he might be lying. If he wasn't, then she'd...feel pretty bad since she didn't quite care about him. This was so confusing, GUHH! The lioness sighed loudly and did some thinking. It wouldn't hurt if she said they were friends--it wasn't like he was going to tell the whole world. Plus, she really didn't want a crying 6th year on her hands. Annnd she had to admit, they'd been through quite a lot and she didn't know what else to call their...relationship. "Okay Brae. We're--we're friends. You were right." And she even attempted to give him a half smile, half smirk. Braeden blinked with confusion when Ruby suddenly burst into a fit of laughter, as if she'd just heard a joke for the first time. And the one making that hilarious joke was him.
WHAAAAAAAAA'?!
When Braeden realized she was laughing at his earlier corniness, the boy's jaw dropped to the floor for a second before he picked it up and instead looked away with embarrassment. His cheeks had gone a very light shade of pink.
As the flabbergasted redhead asked 'really?!', an embarrassed Brae merely nodded his head, still looking away. OHGAWD. He couldn't face Ruby now! He'd just kinda spilled his guts and feelings to the floor and she'd just laughed her head off at it! ;________; He might just cry.
But then Ruby confirmed they were friends.
Looking hopeful, Braeden turned his head sharply in her direction, brown eyes wide when he saw her… what was that…? SMILING?! Wait, or was that a smirk? Or just a really weird smile? Well, whatever it was, it was… nice. Unusually nice. AND HE AND RUBY WERE FRIENDS. Friends!
He could've just burst into song right then and there. F is for friends who do things together, U is for you and meeeeeeee! N is for anywhere, at any time at all, down here in the fourth floor corridoooooooooor!
It was now Braeden who asked, "Really?" The goofiest of his lopsided grins was taking over his facial expression now. "You really mean that, Lioness?!"

Ruby couldn't help but snort as the boy grinned stupidly when she confirmed that they were indeed friends. Eugh. Let's hope he never made her say that in public. She stared at his trademark goody grin for a while before nodding her head slowly. "YES, didn't I just we were?" She said exasperatedly. He was freaking out way too much, she thought he might need a calming drought or something. Or a fresh pair of pants, bahaha. "But Brae--" She started suddenly. This could be a potential problem for her reputation. "You can't--you can't tell anyone, okay?" If word got out, she'd be worse than dead...she could never face the school again. GAH. She had tangled herself in much more than she had bargained for when she messed with this Marshmallow. Hehe.

"Good!" said Ness feeling a little bad for laughing so much "Sorry! but I kinda needed a laugh!" said Ness trying to forget the reason why she had needed one so bad. She then laughed a little at his next question only because she was just about to ask him the same thing. "Sorry again, I was just about to ask you that." she said. "I think we've met before!"
Ness only started now to remember where they had met, she had been crying in the courtyard on a bench and he had come to sit next to her. She was too embarresed to admit it, so she just kept her mouth shut and tried to change the topic. "Well since I don't remember your name ,Im sure you don't remember mine." said Ness giggling. "Well Im Renesmee, but everyone calls me Ness or Nessie." |
