Carter glanced up briefly when he heard a crunch of snow approaching him. Was Marie seriously about to come sit next to him? And there she sat. And she was introducing herself? Did a haircut really make him look that much different?

But it wasn't long until she realized who he was. Awkward. "Yeah. It's me." he answered. He then looked blankly at his desk wondering how he was going to avoid making this whole lesson completely awkward. "Umm... what do you think? You like it?" he asked in an attempt to make small talk. Really, anything to keep Marie from talking badly about Caroline would be great.

He then noticed as someone else came by. "Hey Jai. How's it going?" he asked as his friend took a seat near him.

Jai shrugged and ran his hand through his hair,"Dude, I almost bolted when I saw the snow but then I came in and realized it's Charms class." he said before continuing,"I see the new hair cut is working its own charm.", as he chuckled a bit at the girl's reaction. He leaned a little and said quietly,"You have got to tell me your secret man." he said with a sly smirk.

Well, Treyen had not been expecting the snowy atmosphere inside. And, sure, it was nice and all, but he was completely reminded of Kingsley and the time they had to build something to keep them warm.

Kingsley.

Treyen smiled at the thought and stepped inside, "Professor," he said, nodding once, and...why did Ellie have to sit in the front row?? Seriously. The boy only smiled her way, and kept on walking towards the back of the class.

Descoteaux hasn't earned the front-row status. Only Lafay had managed to do so by now. And...Kingsley and Nolan too.

Caroline waved back to Carter. As he walked by. Wait he was just going to walk by her? Well that was the two extra sugar quills he had bought her a Honeydukes last weekend. She turned around and her eyes followed him as he took seat in the back. She glared at him slightly She rolled her eyes as a blonde walked to the back and sit next to him. Marie. She slid out of the seat she was in, and slid to the back on the other side of Carter. Plopping down in the seat and throwing her bag on the desk. She looked over at Carter with a smile "Hey!" Looking down farther she smirked at Marie and turned alway with her nose stuck up.

Charms. Now that was a subject that she could never dislike. She did have fond memories of the last time she had taken the class her last term at Hogwarts and she hoped that this year would have fond memories made as well.

She knew that she would be facing another new professor, but she wasn't going to let that hinder her enjoyment of the class.

Peering in quickly, she blinked. Okay, this was so definitely going to stay one of her favourite classes. How does one go wrong with a winter wonderland?

Heading toward the front, she found a seat and settled in. "Good day, Professor," she smiled.

Brielle had read the Notice board the day before, and she had as the Professor instructed, brought along her thick jacket. She had been holding it in her arms as she walked to the classroom, humming contentedly to herself. Then, finally reaching out, she opened the knob slowly.

And stepped back in surprise.

The classroom was white, covered in cold snow. Quickly putting on her jacket, Brielle stepped inside, her eyes twinkling in amazement. She had always loved the snow, and now she had a chance to go to a class filled with it! "Good morning, professor," she smiled up to him before sitting in one of the desks a few rows from the front.

Presley skipped into her very first Charms class. The classroom had been turned into a ice palace...sort of. Pres had paid attention to the notice board and brought her favorite cloak. She pulled the bright purple cloak around her shoulders before advancing any further. She found an empty seat, and took it, pulling out thin gloves from her bag. "Morning professor," she smiled. This was bound to be a good class.

Kimalia entered into the classroom in awestruck. "Wow, this is lovely." She turned to the handsome Professor before smiling and giving a small curtsy. "Good day, Professor." Afterward she took a seat nearby Nika smiling at her. Hopefully if she got confused, Nika would be able to help.

Well now. This was a bit of an awkward moment. Marie and Carter hadn't actually talked since that conversation in the kitchen... and now here she was, sitting next to him and his girlfriend wasn't.

Looking back at him and his haircut she smiled a little. "Yeah, I like it. It makes you look... amazingly handsome more grown up." Did this new look also mean the immature, oblivious Carter was gone? One could only hope.

Finally taking a moment to glance around the room she noticed his family hating girlfriend sitting in the middle of the room. "Aww, what's the matter there?" She asked nodding towards Caroline. "She doesn't like the new haircut?" Or was it he finally realized that the girl was a nut case and dumped her?

Now that was a new guy... one she really had never seen before. Well, no need to be rude here, she should introduce herself to him too. "Hello, I'm Carter's... friend Marie." Yeah, they were sorta friends again... right?

Oh joy... and there was the whatever she was moving to the back of the room with them. Really, the professor should do something about that. Once you have a seat you should stay in it. This isn't a musical chair lesson. No moving around allowed.

Rolling her eyes at Caroline as she plopped down in a seat near Carter she leaned over and whispered in Carter's ear. "I think someone's a bit jealous there."

Yeah, be jealous girl... you know your man wants me, not you.

Jai smiled at the blonde who seemed very friendly,"Hello Marie. I'm Jai, nice to meet you." He caught he reaction to Caroline who had taken the seat on the other side of Carter. There something a little off going on and he wasn't particularly interested in finding out what right now.

'Wow, this should be interesting.' He thought as he looked from Carter, to Caroline to Marie and slightly raised one eyebrow.

"So, do you like Charms Marie?"he asked her. Feeling a slight shift in the atmosphere he decided to make some conversation.

Oh Charms... What a bittersweet thing, the most HORRID subject but taught by the most HEAVENLY angel. Prof Chaud.

Rae saw Treyen and walked up by him... "Hey, mind if I sit with you?" Maybe she could get some points off the prefect. She looked up front to see Prof Chaud and his gloriousness, sighed, then saw Ellie in the front row.... Wasn't she...? "What's the deal with you and Ellie now?" Shouldn't they be sitting together or something?

Carter chuckled at Jai's comment. "I would have ran too." he said still laughing a little. "Apparently the secret is great hair." he said.

He then faced Marie again. "Nothing. Everything is fine with us. I just like sitting in the back. You should know that." he said. Really, they'd been in enough classes together that she should know he either always sat by a window or in the back.

He then smiled weakly as Marie introduced herself to Jai. "Yeah... err... friends." he repeated slightly uneasy. He then attempted to give Jai a look that said 'prepare for the worst' as he saw Caroline get up and join them.

"Well. I'm sure she is." he said back to Marie. Although, that probably wasn't the best thing to say. "So, where is your boyfriend?" he asked. Because she should have better things to do than taunt the fact that she and Carter dated in front of Caroline.

"Hey." he said as Caroline joined them. He glanced up at the Professor briefly hoping the lesson would start soon. In the meantime he decided to focus on an old ink spot on his desk. It looked like a broomstick.

Hey, he knew that voice.

"Rae! Yeah, of course, I don't mind," he said, as he gestured for the seat next to him. But, er, didn't Rae use to sit in the front row as well? What was she doing all the way in the back, eh?

It was her next question that made his eyes wandered off to the redhead sitting up there. The boy also blushed. Lightly. And he had to stop doing that, by the way. "What do you mean?" he asked, frowning a bit.

WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO! Finally! Charms! Zara ran as fast as she could to the classroom, it was the class she had been looking forward to, second to DADA. But of course, there wasn't any lesson for that. Just some homework. Meep.

She stopped in front of the door, panting a bit. OH HEYY! Snow. Zara could hardly believe her eyes. She's never seen snow before. Her eyes widened, not knowing whether to be shocked, surprised, or pleased. I guess it's a mixture of everything. Inhaling and exhaling deeply before entering, she now had a wide grin on her face. Her eyes wandered around, then saw the professor.

"Hello, Professor," she smiled. Okay, so she had no idea what his name was. Maybe she'll know later? "Good day."

And she walked over to an empty seat, wanting to admire the snow and ice surrounding her without being disturbed by anyone. Maybe she'll learn how to do that. It was a charm right? There couldn't possibly be a natural snow in the classroom. It was the work of a charm. OHHH OHHH, maybe the professor will teach them?

Finally! Aiden has been craving while waiting for the Charms lesson to start. Making her way into the Charms classroom, she looks different. She looks slightly cheerful than usual.

She takes a seat in the first row of class. Looking enthusiastic, Aiden greets the professor. "Good day, professor," she smiles faintly.

Jared glanced at his watch. Given the general size of the classroom, it didn't seem to have filled up; but the class area itself had, and it was almost time to start. He might as well begin the lesson now.

"If everyone has settled down... who can tell me what a charm is?"


OOC: Class has officially begun. From this point onwards, please don't RP your charrie arriving late. Just pretend [s]he was there, all along. IC chaos is always expected, but please don't go overboard with the chatter between the students. Aaand. Creative and fun answers are welcome.

Alfie gave a brief nod to the Professor as he asked if she was alright, a small smile on her face, before she returned to taking things out of her bag. Okay, she had her wand, she had her quills, her parchment...everything was set. That was, until Professor Descoteaux began speaking, asking what a charm was. She had no idea how to define a charm! Alfie had never been particularly gifted with Charms, in fact, it was one of her worst subjects. Unfortunately for her, because she actually found them to be pretty interesting. So, she remained silent for the time being, her blue eyes taking in everything around her quietly.

Kurumi's hand shot up like a rocket after take off. She was a little sad to hear that they were not going to have a snowball fight, but she was sure there was something else equally as exciting waiting for them. "Professor, a charm is a spell that enchants an object to behave in a way that is unnatural for it. This is different from say...a Transfiguration spell because spells in that category change the inherent nature of the object and turn it into something that it is not."

She set her hand down on the table and finally stopped to take a breath.

Jai turned around as the professor began his class. First question which was the obvious and most pertinent, what is a charm? He raised his hand and answered,"It's an enchantment which would cause an object to behave in a way it wouldn't normally behave."

It was always to get going in class, it made homework alot easier.

Mina glanced around and noticed the excitement that was around her. She hadn't paid it much attention, but there were a few students still in a bit of awe over what was around them.

Slowly raising her hand to answer. "A charm is an enchantment that causes an object to behave in a way that it usually wouldn't normally behave."

Alex raised his hand, "It's a spell that makes something do stuff it doesn't normally do. Like, a charm could make a teapot dance, or something," he explained. It was a rather odd example, but, it would do.

HMMM, how DID one make a teapot dance?

Dallin smirked to himself, looking down at his desk at the professor's question. Although he probably meant 'charm' as in magical charm, so the first answer Dal thought of wouldn't work. Which meant he'd actually have to think.

"It's a spell," he said, raising his hand, "That makes something do somethign that it wouldn't normally do."

Treyen raised his hand, and added a simple phrase to what was being said, "We could say it's a spell that changes an object's behavior, but not their nature," the boy put his hand down.

Transfiguration changed an object's nature, while Charms didn't. That was the main difference, no?

Janice's hand went up and she answered.

"A charm is a spell that you use to an object to change only its actions. Like you could make a pencil fly, which is something that a pencil can't do."

She took out her jacket, and pulled it over her school robes. Janice hadn't expected that the class would be this cold. She couldn't believe that she left her medicine tablets back in London, as she started to feel like sneezing.

Ha-chew!

What did he mean by 'what do you mean?' Did he not remember that Rae was present when Lexi and Treyen were talking about Ellie? Rae lowered her voice a bit. "You two are dating.. Yes? So why are you back here?"


After listening to Treyen's answer Rae mumbled without thinking to herself.... "Changes an objects behavior... Prof Chaud's got a lot of Charm on me." Again, she didn't think. Hopefully no one heard that.
