Ravenswood Manor

Adrianna Charday’s life has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. When it all becomes too much, she slips away from her home in the middle of the night, as she has done many times before. Only this time, it’s for good. She goes to the beautiful wildlife preserve that a close family friend owns. Ravenswood. The ideal place to go if you need some alone time. But no one knows what’s really going through the raven-haired teenager’s depressed mind. She was slowly losing herself in self-pity, depression.
Her best friend since she was an infant, Cassandriana Brant, visits daily, but can never find the girl she once knew as her friend inside the shell of a person she finds everyday.
But if you do find old Adrianna, she will gladly welcome you into the humongous manor house that she now calls home. There are eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a large den with a fireplace and mantle, two kitchens, and a sunroom throughout the house. Two wolves, Dreamer and Stormbringer stay in the den by the fireplace during the winter, but during the warmer months, they are either running around the preserve, or lying by Adrianna. There is a very large library on the top floor, where Ad spends most of her time. A sign on the gates leading to the preserve says:
Ravenswood Wildlife Preserve
Take only photos and leave only footprints.
Please don’t feed the animals, and stay on the paths.
Garbage in, garbage out policy.
$200 fine for littering.
Open from dawn till dusk.

Ad sighed and shut the stove off, sliding the pot to the back burner. Dinner was ready for when Justin got home. Which would hopefully be soon. Ad looked at the clock and walked into the living room to turn the light on and then down the hall to the twins' room. She slipped inside the room and leant against the doorway, smiling slightly.

'What better way to be welcomed home' he thought silently to himself taking in the homy smell coming from the kitchen and smiling slightly as he reached the cabinet filled room, his smile growing when he saw Ad.

"Evening" he smiled walking toward her letting every negative thought within his body escape.

Justin looked at Ad and shrugged. "A not much of a blast from the past is about to turn up and quite possibly open the floodgates" he replied knowing Ad wouldn't know what on earth he was talking about. But he did. He knew exactly what this was about. He wasn't about to open up and tell Ad everything he'd gone through when he was a child and how much his entire family tormented him in every way they possibly could because that would mean opening himself up to a whole new dimension of vulnerability. He thought he'd but the horrible reality that was his past way behind him but it was obviously coming back to bit him harder than it ever had before.

Justin sighed and looked at the floor. "Unless you want me breaking down in the middle of the floor wishing I never existed, no" he replied. That's what would happen if he told her what had happened when he grew up. He didn't need to go back to that and he wouldn't if he could avoid it.

Justin flinched slightly hearing a loud knock at the door. If he was honest, he was dreading who would be standing on the other side but he had to answer it. He sighed and made his way to the door, a look of pain and bad memories on his face when he saw who was standing there.

"Justin..." a voice said standing in the doorway staring at the adult not the letting either of them in.

Justin looked at the floor then back up at the two people standing there. "Why are you doing this?" he asked, the pain, anxiety, and clear torment clear in his voice.

"C'mon, JJ. We're your brother and sister, you can't just brush us off like we never existed" said the other voice harshly.

Damien narrowed his eyes listening to the girl in front of him. "Look kid, if I had a choice, I'd have knocked him off the first bridge we came to but I didn't have a choice and I didn't have a chance. I'm here because this one forced me to come. I'm not gonna listen to a wimp whimpering in a corner trying and failing to shield himself and a brat like you telling me what you think of me. I couldn't care less" he responded occasionally getting closer to the girl in front of him.

Melissa shook her head and rolled her eyes listening to what Damien had said. She wasn't tolerating that. "Unlike him, I'm here to mend a relationship this one made me destroy any chances of having. "You have control, do what you want" she told her as she slid past and upstairs to where Justin was sat in the corner of a bedroom.

Justin glanced up from his corner but immediately buried his head again. He wasn't in the mood for talking. He just wished neither of them had turned up and brought back so many terrible memories.

Justin sniffled looking down at the floor. "I can never be proud of my past. Every day I wake up afraid that I'm gonna do the exact same to the twins as what dad did to me. I've got scars not even time can heal. I hate myself for still being alive because the pain... I tried so hard to push the memories to the back of my mind but they still haunt my dreams every night" he explained.

Melissa sat down at the side of Justin listening as he continued to explain how everything was making him feel. She looked down at the floor then back up again. "I understand where you're coming from even if I didn't experience it. Damien may not feel guilty about leaving you there vulnerable but all I want to do is at least try to put our relationship right"

Melissa glanced at the door hearing a noise outside in the hallway but thought nothing of it. She turned her attention back to Justin sympathetically. "If anything she'll admire you for having the strength to tell her" she replied looking at him, that sympathetic look still in her eyes.
