Ravenswood Manor

Adrianna Charday’s life has been a rollercoaster, to say the least. When it all becomes too much, she slips away from her home in the middle of the night, as she has done many times before. Only this time, it’s for good. She goes to the beautiful wildlife preserve that a close family friend owns. Ravenswood. The ideal place to go if you need some alone time. But no one knows what’s really going through the raven-haired teenager’s depressed mind. She was slowly losing herself in self-pity, depression.
Her best friend since she was an infant, Cassandriana Brant, visits daily, but can never find the girl she once knew as her friend inside the shell of a person she finds everyday.
But if you do find old Adrianna, she will gladly welcome you into the humongous manor house that she now calls home. There are eight bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a large den with a fireplace and mantle, two kitchens, and a sunroom throughout the house. Two wolves, Dreamer and Stormbringer stay in the den by the fireplace during the winter, but during the warmer months, they are either running around the preserve, or lying by Adrianna. There is a very large library on the top floor, where Ad spends most of her time. A sign on the gates leading to the preserve says:
Ravenswood Wildlife Preserve
Take only photos and leave only footprints.
Please don’t feed the animals, and stay on the paths.
Garbage in, garbage out policy.
$200 fine for littering.
Open from dawn till dusk.

Tours there were very popular. But now, in the winter months, not even her fellow guides could break the icy barrier that wrapped itself around Adrianna’s heart. She didn’t punch anyone who called her “Addy” anymore.
Adrianna’s life was crumbling down. But that would never stop her friend and her cousins from trying to help.

Justin buried his head in his arms letting every emotion he'd locked away in a cupboard inside his brain over the years spill out. He didn't know what to do. He felt more alone than he ever had before and there was no shaking it. He just remained in his little corner in the box room like he had all those years ago trying to get away from everything, everyone who had ever hurt him. But the more he tried, the more he cried.

Justin flinched slightly but didn't look up. He just kept his head buried still crying more than he ever had before.

Justin's emotions seemed to strengthen and Ad tightened her grip around Justin, a few tears slipping down her cheeks. "Oh, Justin..."

Justin closed his eyes tightly trying to block everything out all over again. Nothing seemed to work. He'd always been told that exorcising demons was the way to put the past behind but how was he supposed to do that if he couldn't bring himself to admit he had a shameful childhood? He was petrified of losing everything and he felt sure he was going to wind up pushing Ad away inadvertently. He didn't mean to shut himself off but he was shutting down completely. He'd completely forgotten that he hadn't eaten all day and he didn't want to eat. He just wanted to crawl under a rock away from everything and everyone and put everything he'd ever been through behind him. It seemed like that was never going to happen until he got the courage to open up to the one person that meant the most to him. Ad!

Ad sighed and let her arms fall from Justin. She stood up and walked to the doorway. "D-dinner's still on the stove if you ever get hungry" she whispered. "I love you..." she murmured as she walked out.

Ad walked into the twins' room and closed the door behind her. She sat on the floor between the cribs and let the tears start pouring. Her husband was distant. Too distant. And it killed her inside.

Alex walked up to the front door of the house and opened it glancing around for any sign of life. "Guys?" he shouted hoping they'd hear. They were obviously in else Justin's car wouldn't be outside.

Justin looked up instantly hearing his dad's voice and, in a panic, closed and locked the bedroom door. It was a natural instinct that he'd managed to shake up until now. It was as though he was right back to being a little boy all over again.
